discipline me in your wrath.

a burden too heavy to bear.

wounds fester and are loathsome

Sing

The
chariots of God are tens of thousands

the
Lord has come from Sinai into his sanctuary.

When
you ascended on high,
you
led captives in your train;
you
received gifts from men,
even

that

Praise
be to the Lord, to God our Savior,

daily bears our burdens.

Our
God is a God who saves;

1
Sing
to the LORD a new song,
for
he has done marvelous things;
his
right hand and his holy arm
have
worked salvation for him.

LORD has made his salvation known
and
revealed his righteousness to the nations.

has remembered his love
and
his faithfulness to the house of Israel;
all
the ends of the earth have seen
the
salvation of our God.

Shout
for joy to the LORD, all the earth,
burst
into jubilant song with music;

make
music to the LORD with the harp,

the harp and the sound of singing,

Does
not understanding raise her voice?

On
the heights along the way,
where
the paths meet, she takes her stand;

the gates leading into the city,

the entrances, she cries aloud:

"To
you, O men, I call out;
I
raise my voice to all mankind.

You
who are simple, gain prudence;
you
who are foolish, gain understanding.

Listen,
for I have worthy things to say;

open my lips to speak what is right.

My
mouth speaks what is true,
for
my lips detest wickedness.

All
the words of my mouth are just;
none

Then
the LORD said to Moses, "Now
you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he
will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of
his country."
2
God
also said to Moses, "I
am the LORD. 3
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty,
A
but by my name the LORD B
I did not make myself known to them.
C
4
I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of
Canaan, where they lived as aliens. 5
Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the
Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
6"
Therefore, say to the Israelites:
`I
am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the
Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will
redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
7
I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you
will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under
the yoke of the Egyptians.
8
And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give
to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a
possession. I am the LORD.'
"

Moses
reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him
because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.
10
Then
the LORD said to Moses, 11
"Go,
tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his
country."
12
But
Moses said to the LORD, "If the Israelites will not listen to
me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips
D?"
13
Now
the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh
king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of
Egypt.
14
These
were the heads of their families E:
The
sons of Reuben the firstborn son of Israel were Hanoch and Pallu,
Hezron and Carmi. These were the clans of Reuben.
15
The
sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the
son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon.
16
These
were the names of the sons of Levi according to their records:
Gershon, Kohath and Merari. Levi lived 137 years.
17
The
sons of Gershon, by clans, were Libni and Shimei.
18
The
sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133
years.
19
The
sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi.
These
were the clans of Levi according to their records.
20Amram
married his father's sister Jochebed, who bore him Aaron and Moses.
Amram lived 137 years.
21
The
sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg and Zicri. 14
22
The
sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan and Sithri.
23
Aaron
married Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon, and
she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
24
The
sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph. These were the
Korahite clans.
25
Eleazar
son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him
Phinehas.
These
were the heads of the Levite families, clan by clan.
26
It
was this same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, "Bring the
Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions."
27
They
were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing the
Israelites out of Egypt. It was the same Moses and Aaron.
28
Now
when the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt, 29
he
said to him, "I
am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you."
30
But
Moses said to the LORD, "Since I speak with faltering lips, why
would Pharaoh listen to me?"

Then
the LORD said to Moses, "See,
I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be
your prophet.
2
You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to
tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.
3
But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and though I multiply my
miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt, 4
he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with
mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the
Israelites.
5
And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my
hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it."
6
Moses
and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them. 7
Moses
was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to
Pharaoh.
8
The
LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 9
"When
Pharaoh says to you, `Perform a miracle,' then say to Aaron, `Take
your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,' and it will become a
snake."
10
So
Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded.
Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and
it became a snake. 11
Pharaoh
then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also
did the same things by their secret arts: 12
Each
one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron's staff
swallowed up their staffs. 13
Yet
Pharaoh's heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as
the LORD had said. 15
14
Then
the LORD said to Moses, "Pharaoh's
heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go. 15
Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes out to the water. Wait on the
bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that
was changed into a snake. 16
Then say to him, `The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to
say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the
desert. But until now you have not listened. 17
This is what the LORD says: By this you will know that I am the LORD:
With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the
Nile, and it will be changed into blood. 18
The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink; the
Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.'
"
19
The
LORD said to Moses, "Tell
Aaron, `Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of
Egypt--over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the
reservoirs'--and they will turn to blood. Blood will be everywhere in
Egypt, even in the wooden buckets and stone jars."
20
Moses
and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded. He raised his staff in
the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the
Nile, and all the water was changed into blood. 21
The
fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the
Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.
22
But
the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and
Pharaoh's heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron,
just as the LORD had said. 23
Instead,
he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to
heart.
24
And
all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because
they could not drink the water of the river.
25
Seven
days passed after the LORD struck the Nile. 16

Then
Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I
forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"

Jesus
answered, "I
tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. F

"Therefore,
the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts
with his servants. 24
As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents G
was brought to him. 25
Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife
and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.
26
"The
servant fell on his knees before him. `Be patient with me,' he
begged, `and I will pay back everything.'
27
The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him
go.
28
"But
when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who
owed him a hundred denarii.

He grabbed him and began to choke him. `Pay back what you owe me!' he
demanded.
29
"His
fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, `Be patient with me,
and I will pay you back.'
30
"But
he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison
until he could pay the debt.

1When
the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly
distressed and went and told their master everything that had
happened.
32
"Then
the master called the servant in. `You wicked servant,'
he said,
`I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to.
33
Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on
you?'
34
In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured,
until he should pay back all he owed.
35
"This
is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive
your brother from your heart."

When
Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went into
the region of Judea to the other side of the Jordan. 2
Large
crowds followed him, and he healed them there.

Some
Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for
a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"

"Haven't
you read,"
he replied, "that
at the beginning the Creator `made them male and female,'
A
5
and
said, `For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be
united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'
B?
6
So
they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined
together, let man not separate."

"Why
then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his
wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?" 17
8
Jesus
replied, "Moses
permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard.
But it was not this way from the beginning.
9
I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital
unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."
10
The
disciples said to him, "If this is the situation between a
husband and wife, it is better not to marry."
11
Jesus
replied, "Not
everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been
given.
12
For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were
made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage C
because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should
accept it."
