THEINC-HIM Daily Bible Meditation - July 16 - Full Text!

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

JULY 16

PSALMS: 16, 46, 76, 106, 136

PROVERBS: 16

OLD TESTAMENT: JEREMIAH 4:19 - 6:15

NEW TESTAMENT: COLOSSIANS 1:18 - 2:7

PSALMS: 16

1 Preserve me, God, for in you do I take refuge.
2 My soul, you have said to the LORD,
"You are my Lord.
Apart from you I have no good thing."
3 As for the holy ones who are in the eretz,
They are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who give gifts to another god.
Their drink-offerings of blood I will not offer,
Nor take their names on my lips.
5 The LORD assigned my portion and my cup.
You made my lot secure.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places.
Yes, I have a good inheritance.
7  I will bless the LORD, who has given me counsel.
Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the LORD always before me.
Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices.
My body shall also dwell in safety.
10 For you will not leave my soul in She'ol,
Neither will you allow your holy one to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life.
In your presence is fullness of joy.
In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

PSALMS: 46

1 God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will we not be afraid, though the eretz changes,
Though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas;
3 Though the waters of it roar and are troubled,
Though the mountains tremble with the swelling of it. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad,
The holy place of the tents of Ha`Elyon.
5 God is in the midst of her.
She shall not be moved.
God will help her at dawn.
6 The nations raged. The kingdoms were moved.
He uttered his voice, and the eretz melted.
7  The LORD of Hosts is with us.
The God of Ya`akov is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come, see the works of the LORD,
What desolations he has made in the eretz.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the eretz.
He breaks the bow, and cuts the spear apart.
He burns the chariots in the fire.
10 "Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations.
I will be exalted in the eretz."
11 The LORD of Hosts is with us.
The God of Ya`akov is our refuge. Selah.

PSALMS: 76

1 In Yehudah, God is known.
His name is great in Yisra'el.
2 His tent is also in Shalem;
His dwelling-place in Tziyon.
3 There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow,
The shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war.
Selah.
4 Glorious are you, and excellent,
More than mountains of game.
5 Valiant men lie plundered,
They have slept their last sleep.
None of the men of war can lift their hands.
6 At your rebuke, God of Ya`akov,
Both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep.
7 You, even you, are to be feared.
Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?
8 You pronounced judgment from heaven.
The eretz feared, and was silent,
9 When God arose to judgment,
To save all the afflicted ones of the eretz. Selah.
10 Surely the wrath of man praises you.
The survivors of your wrath are restrained.
11 Make vows to the LORD your God, and fulfill them!
Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.
12 He will cut off the spirit of princes.
He is feared by the kings of the eretz.

PSALMS: 106

1 Praise the LORD!
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
For his loving kindness endures forever.
2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD,
Or fully declare all his praise?
3 Blessed are those who keep justice,
He who does righteousness at all times.
4 Remember me, LORD, with the favor that you show to your people.
Visit me with your yeshu`ah,
5 That I may see the prosperity of your chosen,
That I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation,
That I may glory with your inheritance.
6 We have sinned with our fathers.
We have committed iniquity.
We have done wickedly.
7  Our fathers didn't understand your wonders in Mitzrayim.
They didn't remember the multitude of your loving kindnesses,
But were rebellious at the sea, even at the Sea of Suf.
8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake,
That he might make his mighty power known.
9 He rebuked the Sea of Suf also, and it was dried up;
So he led them through the depths, as through a desert.
10 He saved them from the hand of him who hated them,
And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11 The waters covered their adversaries.
There was not one of them left.
12 Then they believed his words.
They sang his praise.
13 They soon forgot his works.
They didn't wait for his counsel,
14 But gave in to craving in the desert,
And tested God in the wasteland.
15 He gave them their request,
But sent leanness into their soul.
16 They envied Moshe also in the camp,
And Aharon, the LORD's holy one.
17 The eretz opened and swallowed up Datan,
And covered the company of Aviram.
18 A fire was kindled in their company.
The flame burned up the wicked.
19 They made a calf in Horev,
And worshiped a molten image.
20 Thus they exchanged their glory
For an image of a bull that eats grass.
21 They forgot God, their Savior,
Who had done great things in Mitzrayim,
22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham,
And awesome things by the Sea of Suf.
23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them,
Had Moshe, his chosen, not stood before him in the breach,
To turn away his wrath, so that he wouldn't destroy them.
24 Yes, they despised the pleasant land.
They didn't believe his word,
25 But murmured in their tents,
And didn't listen to the voice of the LORD.
26 Therefore he swore to them
That he would overthrow them in the wilderness,
27 That he would overthrow their seed among the nations,
And scatter them in the lands.
28 They joined themselves also to Ba`al-Pe`or,
And ate the sacrifices of the dead.
29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their deeds.
The plague broke in on them.
30 Then Pinechas stood up, and executed judgment,
So the plague was stopped.
31 That was credited to him for righteousness,
To all generations forevermore.
32 They angered him also at the waters of Merivah,
So that Moshe was troubled for their sakes;
33 Because they were rebellious against his spirit,
He spoke rashly with his lips.
34 They didn't destroy the peoples,
As the LORD commanded them,
35 But mixed themselves with the nations,
Learned their works.
36 They served their idols,
Which became a snare to them.
37  Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.
38 They shed innocent blood,
Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters,
Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Kana`an.
The land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus were they defiled with their works,
And prostituted themselves in their deeds.
40 Therefore the wrath of the LORD was kindled against his people.
He abhorred his inheritance.
41 He gave them into the hand of the nations.
Those who hated them ruled over them.
42 Their enemies also oppressed them.
They were brought into subjection under their hand.
43 Many times he delivered them,
But they were rebellious in their counsel,
And were brought low in their iniquity.
44 Nevertheless he regarded their distress,
When he heard their cry.
45 He remembered for them his covenant,
And repented according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.
46 He made them also to be pitied
By all those who carried them captive.
47 Save us, LORD, our God,
Gather us from among the nations,
To give thanks to your holy name,
To triumph in your praise!
48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Yisra'el,
From everlasting even to everlasting!
Let all the people say, ‘
"Amein.
" Praise the LORD!

PSALMS: 136

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
For his loving kindness endures forever.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods;
For his loving kindness endures forever.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
4 To him who alone does great wonders;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
5 To him who by understanding made the heavens;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
6 To him who spread out the eretz above the waters;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
7  To him who made the great lights;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
8 The sun to rule by day;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
9 The moon and stars to rule by night;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
10 To him who struck down the Mitzrian firstborn;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
11 And brought out Yisra'el from among them;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
12 With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
13 To him who divided the Sea of Suf apart;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
14 Made Yisra'el to pass through the midst of it;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
15 But overthrew Par`oh and his host in the Sea of Suf;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
16 To him who led his people through the wilderness;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
17 To him who struck great kings;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
18 And killed mighty kings;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
19 Sichon king of the Amori;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
20 `Og king of Bashan;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
21 And gave their land as an inheritance;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
22 Even a heritage to Yisra'el his servant;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
23 Who remembered us in our low estate;
For his loving kindness endures forever;
24 And has delivered us from our adversaries;
For his loving kindness endures forever:
25 Who gives food to every creature;
For his loving kindness endures forever.
26 Oh give thanks to the God of heaven;
For his loving kindness endures forever.

PROVERBS: 16

1 The plans of the heart belong to man,
But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes;
But the LORD weighs the motives.
3 Commit your deeds to the LORD,
And your plans shall succeed.
4 The LORD has made everything for its own end --
Yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD:
They shall assuredly not be unpunished.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for.
By the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
7 When a man's ways please the LORD,
He makes even his enemies to be at shalom with him.
8 Better is a little with righteousness,
Than great revenues with injustice.
9 A man's heart plans his course,
But the LORD directs his steps.
10 Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king.
He shall not betray his mouth.
11 Honest balances and scales are the LORD's;
All the weights in the bag are his work.
12 It is an abomination for kings to do wrong,
For the throne is established by righteousness.
13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings.
They value one who speaks the truth.
14 The king's wrath is a messenger of death,
But a wise man will pacify it.
15 In the light of the king's face is life.
His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.
16 How much better it is to get wisdom than gold!
Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
17  The highway of the upright is to depart from evil.
He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
18 Pride goes before destruction,
A haughty spirit before a fall.
19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor,
Than to divide the plunder with the proud.
20 He who gives heed to the Word finds prosperity.
Whoever trusts in the LORD is blessed.
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent.
Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.
22 Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it,
But the punishment of fools is their folly.
23 The heart of the wise instructs his mouth,
And adds learning to his lips.
24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb,
Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25 There is a way which seems right to a man,
But in the end it leads to death.
26 The appetite of the laboring man labors for him;
For his mouth urges him on.
27 A worthless man devises mischief.
His speech is like a scorching fire.
28 A perverse man stirs up strife.
A whisperer separates close friends.
29 A man of violence entices his neighbor,
And leads him in a way that is not good.
30 One who winks his eyes to plot perversities,
One who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.
31 Gray hair is a crown of glory.
It is attained by a life of righteousness.
32 One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty;
One who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
33 The lot is cast into the lap,
But its every decision is from the LORD.

OLD TESTAMENT: JEREMIAH 4:19 - 6:15

4:19 My anguish, my anguish! I am pained at my very heart; my heart is disquieted in me; I can't hold my shalom; because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the shofar, the alarm of war. 20Destruction on destruction is cried; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents destroyed, [and] my curtains in a moment. 21 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the shofar? 22 For my people are foolish, they don't know me; they are foolish children, and they have no understanding; they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. 23 I saw the eretz, and, behold, it was waste and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. 24 I saw the mountains, and, behold, they trembled, and all the hills moved back and forth. 25 I saw, and, behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the sky were fled. 26 I saw, and, behold, the fruitful field was a wilderness, and all the cities of it were broken down at the presence of the LORD, [and] before his fierce anger. 27 For thus says the LORD, The whole land shall be a desolation; yet will I not make a full end. 28 For this shall the eretz mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and I have not repented, neither will I turn back from it. 29 Every city flees for the noise of the horsemen and archers; they go into the thickets, and climb up on the rocks: every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells therein. 30 You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck you with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with paint, in vain do you make yourself beautiful; [your] lovers despise you, they seek your life. 31 For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Tziyon, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, [saying], Woe is me now! for my soul faints before the murderers.

5:1 Run you back and forth through the streets of Yerushalayim, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places of it, if you can find a man, if there are any who does justly, who seeks truth; and I will pardon her. 2 Though they say, As the LORD lives; surely they swear falsely. 3 O LORD, don't your eyes look on truth? you have stricken them, but they were not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. 4 Then I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish; for they don't know the way of the LORD, nor the law of their God: 5 I will get me to the great men, and will speak to them; for they know the way of the LORD, and the law of their God. But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds. 6 Therefore a lion out of the forest shall kill them, a wolf of the evenings shall destroy them, a leopard shall watch against their cities; everyone who goes out there shall be torn in pieces; because their transgressions are many, [and] their backsliding is increased. 7 How can I pardon you? your children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the prostitutes' houses. 8 They were as fed horses roaming at large; everyone neighed after his neighbor's wife. 9 Shall I not visit for these things? says the LORD; and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? 10 Go up on her walls, and destroy; but don't make a full end: take away her branches; for they are not the LORD's. 11 For the house of Yisra'el and the house of Yehudah have dealt very treacherously against me, says the LORD. 12 They have denied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come on us; neither shall we see sword nor famine: 13 and the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done to them. 14 Therefore thus says the LORD, the God Tzva'ot,, Because you speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. 15 Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far, house of Yisra'el, says the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you don't know, neither understand what they say. 16 Their quiver is an open tomb, they are all mighty men. 17 They shall eat up your harvest, and your bread, [which] your sons and your daughters should eat; they shall eat up your flocks and your herds; they shall eat up your vines and your fig trees; they shall beat down your fortified cities, in which you trust, with the sword. 18 But even in those days, says the LORD, I will not make a full end with you. 19 It shall happen, when you shall say, Why has the LORD our God done all these things to us? then shall you say to them, Like as you have forsaken me, and served foreign gods in your land, so shall you serve strangers in a land that is not yours. 20 Declare you this in the house of Ya`akov, and publish it in Yehudah, saying, 21 Hear now this, foolish people, and without understanding; who have eyes, and don't see; who have ears, and don't hear: 22 Don't you fear me? says the LORD: won't you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it can't pass it? and though the waves of it toss themselves, yet they can't prevail; though they roar, yet they can't pass over it. 23 But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone. 24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season; who preserves to us the appointed weeks of the harvest. 25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good from you. 26 For among my people are found wicked men: they watch, as fowlers lie in wait; they set a trap, they catch men. 27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and grew rich.
28 They are grew fat, they shine: yes, they overpass in deeds of wickedness; they don't plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and the right of the needy they don't judge. 29 Shall I not visit for these things? says the LORD; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? 30 A wonderful and horrible thing is happen in the land: 31 the prophets prophesy falsely, and the Kohanim bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do in the end of it?

6:1 Flee for safety, you children of Binyamin, out of the midst of Yerushalayim, and blow the shofar in Tekoa, and raise up a signal on Beit-Hakkerem; for evil looks forth from the north, and a great destruction. 2 The comely and delicate one, the daughter of Tziyon, will I cut off. 3 Shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed everyone in his place. 4 Prepare you war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe to us! for the day declines, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out. 5 Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces. 6 For thus has the LORD of Hosts said, Hew you down trees, and cast up a mound against Yerushalayim: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.7 As a well casts forth its waters, so she casts forth her wickedness: violence and destruction is heard in her; before me continually is sickness and wounds. 8 Be instructed, Yerushalayim, lest my soul be alienated from you; lest I make you a desolation, a land not inhabited. 9 Thus says the LORD of Hosts, They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Yisra'el as a vine: turn again your hand as a grape-gatherer into the baskets. 10 To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they can't listen: behold, the word of the LORD is become to them a reproach; they have no delight in it. 11 Therefore I am full of the wrath of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: pour it out on the children in the street, and on the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him who is full of days. 12 Their houses shall be turned to others, their fields and their wives together; for I will stretch out my hand on the inhabitants of the land, says the LORD. 13 For from the least of them even to the greatest of them everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the Kohen everyone deals falsely. 14 They have healed also the hurt of my people slightly, saying, Shalom, shalom; when there is no shalom. 15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, says the LORD.

NEW TESTAMENT: COLOSSIANS 1:18 - 2:7

1:18 He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For all the fullness was pleased to dwell in him; 20 and through him to reconcile all things to himself, having made shalom through the blood of his cross. Through him, I say, whether things on the eretz, or things in the heavens. 21 You, being in past times alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil works, 22 yet now he has reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and blameless before him, 23 if it is so that you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the Good News which you heard, which is being proclaimed in all creation under heaven; of which I, Sha'ul, was made a servant. 24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Messiah in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the assembly; 25 of which I was made a servant, according to the stewardship of God which was given me toward you, to fulfill the word of God, 26 the mystery which has been hidden for ages and generations. But now it has been revealed to his holy ones, 27 to whom God was pleased to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Goyim, which is Messiah in you, the hope of glory; 28 whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Messiah Yeshua; 29 for which I also labor, striving according to his working, which works in me mightily.

2:1 For I desire to have you know how greatly I strive for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; 2 that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Messiah, 3 in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden. 4 Now this I say that no one may delude you with persuasiveness of speech. 5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, rejoicing and seeing your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Messiah. 6 As therefore you received Messiah Yeshua, the Lord, walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.

 John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
