THEinc-HIM Daily Bible Meditation – January 24 – Full Text

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

JANUARY 24

PSALMS: 24, 54, 84, 114, 144

PROVERBS: 24

OLD TESTAMENT: JOSHUA 11:1 - 12:24

NEW TESTAMENT: LUKE 17:11 - 37

PSALMS: 24

1 The eretz is the LORD's, with its fullness;

The world, and those who dwell therein.

2 For he has founded it on the seas,

And established it on the floods.

3 Who may ascend to the LORD's hill?

Who may stand in his holy place?

4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart;

Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood,

And has not sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive a blessing from the LORD,

Righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is the generation of those who seek Him,

Who seek your face -- even Ya`akov.

Selah.

7 Lift up your heads, you gates;

Be lifted up, you everlasting doors:

The King of glory will come in.

8 Who is the King of glory?

The LORD strong and mighty,

The LORD mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, you gates;

Yes, lift them up, you everlasting doors:

The King of glory will come in.

10 Who is this King of glory?

The LORD of Hosts,

He is the King of glory.

Selah.

PSALMS: 54

1 Save me, God, by your name.

Vindicate me in your might.

2 Hear my prayer, God.

Listen to the words of my mouth.

3 For strangers have risen up against me.

Violent men have sought after my soul.

They haven't set God before them.

Selah.

4 Behold, God is my helper.

The Lord is the one who sustains my soul.

5 He will repay the evil to my enemies.

Destroy them in your truth.

6 With a free will offering, I will sacrifice to you.

I will give thanks to your name, LORD, for it is good.

7 For he has delivered me out of all trouble.

My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.

PSALMS: 84

1 How lovely are your dwellings,

LORD of Hosts!

2 My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of the LORD.

My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

3 Yes, the sparrow has found a home,

And the swallow a nest for herself,

where she may have her young,

Near your altars, LORD of Hosts,

My King, and my God.

4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house.

They are always praising you. Selah.

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in you;

Who have set their hearts on a pilgrimage.

6 Passing through the valley of Weeping,

they make it a place of springs.

Yes, the autumn rain covers it with blessings.

7 They go from strength to strength.

Everyone of them appears before God in Tziyon.

8 LORD, God Tzva'ot, hear my prayer.

Listen, God of Ya`akov.

Selah.

9 Behold, God our shield,

Look at the face of your anointed.

10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand.

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,

Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11 For the LORD God is a sun and a shield.

The LORD will give grace and glory.

He withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly.

12 LORD of Hosts,

Blessed is the man who trusts in you.

PSALMS: 114

1 When Yisra'el went forth out of Mitzrayim,

The house of Ya`akov from a people of foreign language;

2 Yehudah became his sanctuary,

Yisra'el his dominion.

3 The sea saw it, and fled.

The Yarden was driven back.

4 The mountains skipped like rams,

The little hills like lambs.

5 What was it, you sea, that you fled?

You Yarden, that you turned back?

6 You mountains, that you skipped like rams;

You little hills, like lambs?

7 Tremble, you eretz, at the presence of the Lord,

At the presence of the God of Ya`akov,

8 Who turned the rock into a pool of water,

The flint into a spring of waters.

PSALMS: 144

1 Blessed be the LORD, my rock,

Who teaches my hands to war,

And my fingers to battle:

2 My loving kindness, my fortress,

My high tower, my deliverer,

My shield, and he in whom I take refuge;

Who subdues my people under me.

3 LORD, what is man, that you care for him?

Or the son of man, that you think of him?

4 Man is like a breath.

His days are like a shadow that passes away.

5 Part your heavens, LORD, and come down.

Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.

6 Throw out lightning, and scatter them.

Send out your arrows, and rout them.

7 Stretch out your hand from above,

Rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters,

Out of the hands of foreigners;

8 Whose mouths speak deceit,

Whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

9 I will sing a new song to you, God.

On a ten-stringed lyre,

I will sing praises to you.

10 You are he who gives salvation to kings,

Who rescues David, his servant, from the deadly sword.

11 Rescue me, and deliver me out of the hands of foreigners,

Whose mouths speak deceit,

Whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

12 Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants,

Our daughters like pillars carved to adorn a palace.

13 Our barns are full, filled with all kinds of provision.

Our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields.

14 Our oxen will pull heavy loads.

There is no breaking in, and no going away,

And no outcry in our streets.

15 Happy are the people who are in such a situation.

Happy are the people whose God is the LORD.

PROVERBS: 24

1 Don't you be envious against evil men;

Neither desire to be with them:

2 For their hearts plot violence,

And their lips talk about mischief.

3 Through wisdom a house is built;

By understanding it is established;

4 By knowledge the rooms are filled

With all rare and beautiful treasure.

5 A wise man has great power;

And a knowledgeable man increases strength;

6 For by wise guidance you wage your war;

And victory is in many advisors.

7 Wisdom is too high for a fool:

He doesn't open his mouth in the gate.

8 One who plots to do evil

Will be called a schemer.

9 The schemes of folly are sin.

The mocker is detested by men.

10 If you falter in the time of trouble,

Your strength is small.

11 Rescue those who are being led away to death!

Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!

12 If you say,

"Behold, we didn't know this;"

Doesn't he who weighs the hearts consider it?

He who keeps your soul, doesn't he know it?

Shall he not render to every man according to his work?

13 My son, eat honey, for it is good;

The droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste:

14 So you shall know wisdom to be to your soul;

If you have found it, then will there be a reward,

Your hope will not be cut off.

15 Don't lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous.

Don't destroy his resting-place:

16 For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again;

But the wicked are overthrown by calamity.

17 Don't rejoice when your enemy falls.

Don't let your heart be glad when he is overthrown;

18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him,

And he turn away his wrath from him.

19 Don't fret yourself because of evildoers;

Neither be envious of the wicked:

20 For there will be no reward to the evil man;

And the lamp of the wicked shall be snuffed out.

21 My son, fear the LORD and the king.

Don't join those who are rebellious:

22 For their calamity will rise suddenly;

The destruction from them both -- who knows?

23 These also are sayings of the wise.

To show partiality in judgment is not good.

24 He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous;"

Peoples shall curse him, and nations shall abhor him --

25 But it will go well with those who convict the guilty,

And a rich blessing will come on them.

26 An honest answer Is like a kiss on the lips.

27 Prepare your work outside.

Make it ready for you in the field.

Afterwards, build your house.

28 Don't be a witness against your neighbor without cause.

Don't deceive with your lips.

29 Don't say, "I will do to him as he has done to me;

I will render to the man according to his work."

30 I went by the field of the sluggard,

By the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

31 Behold, it was all grown over with thorns.

Its surface was covered with nettles,

And its stone wall was broken down.

32 Then I saw, and considered well.

I saw, and received instruction:

33 A little sleep, a little slumber,

A little folding of the hands to sleep;

34 So shall your poverty come as a robber,

And your want as an armed man.

OLD TESTAMENT: JOSHUA 11:1 - 12:24

11:1 It happened, when Yavin king of Hatzor heard of it, that he sent to Yovav king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Akhshaf, 2 and to the kings who were on the north, in the hill-country, and in the `Aravah south of Kinnarot, and in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west, 3 to the Kana`ani on the east and on the west, and the Amori, and the Hittite, and the Perizzi, and the Yevusi in the hill-country, and the Hivvi under Hermon in the land of Mitzpah. 4 They went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is on the sea-shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many. 5 All these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Yisra'el. 6 The LORD said to Yehoshua, Don't be afraid because of them; for tomorrow at this time will I deliver them up all slain before Yisra'el: you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire. 7 So Yehoshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell on them. 8 The LORD delivered them into the hand of Yisra'el, and they struck them, and chased them to great Tzidon, and to Misrefot-Mayim, and to the valley of Mitzpeh eastward; and they struck them, until they left them none remaining. 9 Yehoshua did to them as the LORD bade him: he hamstrung their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire. 10 Yehoshua turned back at that time, and took Hatzor, and struck the king of it with the sword: for Hatzor before was the head of all those kingdoms. 11 They struck all the souls who were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them; there was none left who breathed: and he burnt Hatzor with fire. 12 All the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Yehoshua take, and he struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them; as Moshe the servant of the LORD commanded. 13 But as for the cities that stood on their mounds, Yisra'el burned none of them, save Hatzor only; that did Yehoshua burn. 14 All the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Yisra'el took for a prey to themselves; but every man they struck with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any who breathed. 15 As the LORD commanded Moshe his servant, so did Moshe command Yehoshua: and so did Yehoshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moshe. 16 So Yehoshua took all that land, the hill-country, and all the South, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the `Aravah, and the hill-country of Yisra'el, and the lowland of the same; 17  from Mount Halak, that goes up to Se`ir, even to Ba`al-Gad in the valley of Levanon under Mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and struck them, and put them to death. 18 Yehoshua made war a long time with all those kings. 19 There was not a city that made shalom with the children of Yisra'el, save the Hivvi the inhabitants of Giv`on: they took all in battle. 20 For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, to come against Yisra'el in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moshe. 21 Yehoshua came at that time, and cut off the `Anakim from the hill-country, from Hevron, from Devir, from `Anav, and from all the hill-country of Yehudah, and from all the hill-country of Yisra'el: Yehoshua utterly destroyed them with their cities. 22 There was none of the `Anakim left in the land of the children of Yisra'el: only in `Aza, in Gat, and in Ashdod, did some remain. 23 So Yehoshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD spoke to Moshe; and Yehoshua gave it for an inheritance to Yisra'el according to their divisions by their tribes. The land had rest from war.

12:1 Now these are the kings of the land, whom the children of Yisra'el struck, and possessed their land beyond the Yarden toward the sunrise, from the valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon, and all the `Aravah eastward: 2 Sichon king of the Amori, who lived in Heshbon, and ruled from `Aro`er, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and [the city that is in] the middle of the valley, and half Gil`ad, even to the river Yabbok, the border of the children of `Ammon; 3 and the `Aravah to the sea of Kinnarot, eastward, and to the sea of the `Aravah, even the Salt Sea, eastward, the way to Beit-Hayshimot; and on the south, under the slopes of Pisgah: 4 and the border of `Og king of Bashan, of the remnant of the Refa'im, who lived at `Ashtarot and at Edre`i, 5 and ruled in Mount Hermon, and in Salkhah, and in all Bashan, to the border of the Geshuri and the Ma`akhati, and half Gil`ad, the border of Sichon king of Heshbon. 6 Moshe the servant of the LORD and the children of Yisra'el struck them: and Moshe the servant of the LORD gave it for a possession to the Re'uveni, and the Gadi, and the half-tribe of Menashsheh. 7  These are the kings of the land whom Yehoshua and the children of Yisra'el struck beyond the Yarden westward, from Ba`al-Gad in the valley of Levanon even to Mount Halak, that goes up to Se`ir; and Yehoshua gave it to the tribes of Yisra'el for a possession according to their divisions; 8 in the hill-country, and in the lowland, and in the `Aravah, and in the slopes, and in the wilderness, and in the South; the Hittite, the Amori, and the Kana`ani, the Perizzi, the Hivvi, and the Yevusi: 9 the king of Yericho, one; the king of `Ai, which is beside Beit-El, one; 10 the king of Yerushalayim, one; the king of Hevron, one; 11 the king of Yarmut, one; the king of Lakhish, one; 12 the king of `Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one; 13 the king of Devir, one; the king of Geder, one; 14 the king of Hormah, one; the king of `Arad, one; 15 the king of Livna, one; the king of `Adullam, one; 16 the king of Makkedah, one; the king of Beit-El, one; 17 the king of Tappuach, one; the king of Hefer, one; 18 the king of Afek, one; the king of Lassharon, one; 19 the king of Madon, one; the king of Hatzor, one; 20 the king of Shimron-meron, one; the king of Akhshaf, one; 21 the king of Ta`nakh, one; the king of Megiddo, one; 22 the king of Kedesh, one; the king of Yokne`am in Karmel, one; 23 the king of Dor in the height of Dor, one; the king of Goyim in Gilgal, one; 24 the king of Tirtzah, one: all the kings thirty-one.

NEW TESTAMENT: LUKE 17:11 - 37

17:11 It happened as he was on his way to Yerushalayim, that he was passing along the borders of Shomron and the Galil.

12 As he entered into a certain village, ten men who were lepers met him, who stood far away.

13 They lifted up their voices, saying, "Yeshua, Master, have mercy on us!"

14 When he saw them, he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the Kohanim." It happened, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice.

16 He fell on his face at his feet, giving him thanks. He was a Shomroni.

17 Yeshua answered, "Weren't the ten cleansed? But where are the nine?

18 Were there none found who returned to give glory to God, except this stranger?"

19 He said to him, "Get up, and go your way. Your faith has healed you."

20 Being asked by the Perushim when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, "The kingdom of God doesn't come with observation;

21 neither will they say, 'Look, here!' or, 'Look, there!' for behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

22 He said to the talmidim, "The days will come, when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.

23 They will tell you, 'Look, here!' or 'Look, there!' Don't go away, nor follow after them,

24 for as the lightning, when it flashes out of the one part under the sky, shines to the other part under the sky; so will the Son of Man be in his day.

25 But first, he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

26 As it happened in the days of Noach, even so will it be also in the days of the Son of Man.

27  They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noach entered into the teivah, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

28 Likewise, even as it happened in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;

29 but in the day that Lot went out from Sedom, it rained fire and sulfur from the sky, and destroyed them all.

30 It will be the same way in the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

31 In that day, he who will be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away. Let him who is in the field likewise not turn back.

32 Remember Lot's wife!

33 Whoever seeks to gain his life loses it, but whoever loses his life preserves it.

34 I tell you, in that night there will be two people in one bed. The one will be taken, and the other will be left.

35 There will be two women grinding together. The one will be taken, and the other will be left."

36

37 They answering, asked him, "Where, Lord?" He said to them, "Where the body is, there will the vultures also be gathered together."

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
