APRIL 21

PSALMS: 20, 50, 80, 110, 140

PROVERBS: 20

OLD TESTAMENT: 1 CHRONICLES 11:1 - 12:18

NEW TESTAMENT: ACTS 28:1 - 31

PSALMS: 21

1 The king rejoices in your strength, LORD!

How greatly he rejoices in your yeshu`ah!

2 You have given him his heart's desire,

And have not withheld the request of his lips.

Selah.

3 For you meet him with the blessings of goodness;

You set a crown of fine gold on his head.

4 He asked life of you, you gave it to him,

Even length of days forever and ever.

5 His glory is great in your salvation.

You lay honor and majesty on him.

6 For you make him most blessed forever.

You make him glad with joy in your presence.

7 For the king trusts in the LORD.

Through the loving kindness of Ha`Elyon,

he shall not be moved.

8 Your hand will find out all of your enemies.

Your right hand will find out those who hate you.

9 You will make them as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger.

The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath.

The fire shall devour them.

10 You will destroy their descendants from the eretz,

Their posterity from among the children of men.

11 For they intended evil against you.

They plotted evil against you which cannot succeed.

12 For you will make them turn their back,

When you aim drawn bows at their face.

13 Be exalted, LORD, in your strength,

So we will sing and praise your power.

PSALMS: 51

1 Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving kindness.

According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity.

Cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I know my transgressions.

My sin is constantly before me.

4 Against you, and you only, have I sinned,

And done that which is evil in your sight;

That you may be proved right when you speak,

And justified when you judge.

5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity.

In sin did my mother conceive me.

6 Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts.

You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.

7 Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean.

Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

8 Let me hear joy and gladness,

That the bones which you have broken may rejoice.

9 Hide your face from my sins,

And blot out all of my iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God.

Renew a right spirit within me.

11 Don't throw me from your presence,

And don't take your holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation.

Uphold me with a willing spirit.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways.

Sinners shall be converted to you.

14 Deliver me from blood guiltiness,

O God, the God of my salvation.

My tongue shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

15 Lord, open my lips.

My mouth shall declare your praise.

16 For you don't delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it.

You have no pleasure in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.

A broken and contrite heart,

O God, you will not despise.

18 Do well in your good pleasure to Tziyon.

Build the walls of Yerushalayim.

19 Then will you delight in the sacrifices of righteousness,

In burnt offerings and in whole burnt offerings.

Then they will offer bulls on your altar.

PSALMS: 81

1 Sing aloud to God, our strength!

Make a joyful noise to the God of Ya`akov!

2 Raise a song, and bring here the tambourine,

The pleasant lyre with the harp.

3 Blow the shofar at the New Moon,

At the full moon, on our feast day.

4 For it is a statute for Yisra'el,

An ordinance of the God of Ya`akov.

5 He appointed it in Yosef for a testimony,

When he went out over the land of Mitzrayim,

I heard a language that I didn't know.

6 "I removed his shoulder from the burden.

His hands were freed from the basket.

7 You called in trouble, and I delivered you.

I answered you in the secret place of thunder.

I tested you at the waters of Merivah."

Selah.

8 "Hear, my people, and I will testify to you.

Yisra'el, if you would listen to me!

9 There shall be no strange god in you,

Neither shall you worship any foreign god.

10 I am the LORD, your God,

Who brought you up out of the land of Mitzrayim.

Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 But my people didn't listen to my voice.

Yisra'el desired none of me.

12 So I let them go after the stubbornness of their hearts,

That they might walk in their own counsels.

13 Oh that my people would listen to me,

That Yisra'el would walk in my ways!

14 I would soon subdue their enemies,

And turn my hand against their adversaries.

15 The haters of the LORD would cringe before him,

And their punishment would last forever.

16 But he would have also fed them with the finest of the wheat.

I will satisfy you with honey out of the rock."

PSALMS: 111

1 Praise the LORD!

I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart,

In the council of the upright, and in the congregation.

2 The works of the LORD are great,

Pondered by all those who delight in them.

3 His work is honor and majesty.

His righteousness endures forever.

4 He has caused his wonderful works to be remembered.

The LORD is gracious and merciful.

5 He has given food to those who fear him.

He always remembers his covenant.

6 He has shown his people the power of his works,

In giving them the heritage of the nations.

7 The works of his hands are truth and justice.

All his precepts are sure.

8 They are established forever and ever.

They are done in truth and uprightness.

9 He has sent redemption to his people.

He has ordained his covenant forever.

His name is holy and awesome!

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.

All those who do his work have a good understanding.

His praise endures forever!

PSALMS: 141

1 LORD, I have called on you. Come to me quickly!

Listen to my voice when I call to you.

2 Let my prayer be set before you like incense; ‘

The lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice.

3 Set a watch, LORD, before my mouth.

Keep the door of my lips.

4 Don't incline my heart to any evil thing, ‘

To practice deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity.

Don't let me eat of their delicacies.

5 Let the righteous strike me, it is kindness;

Let him reprove me, it is like oil on the head;

Don't let my head refuse it;

Yet my prayer is always against evil deeds.

6 Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock.

They will hear my words, for they are well spoken.

7 "As when one plows and breaks up the eretz,

Our bones are scattered at the mouth of She'ol."

8 For my eyes are on you, LORD, the Lord.
In you, I take refuge. Don't leave my soul destitute.

9 Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me,

From the traps of the workers of iniquity.

10 Let the wicked fall together into their own nets,

While I pass by.

PROVERBS: 21

1 The king's heart is in the LORD's hand like the watercourses.

He turns it wherever he desires.

2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,

But the LORD weighs the hearts.

3 To do righteousness and justice

Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

4 A high look, and a proud heart,

The lamp of the wicked, is sin.

5 The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit;

And everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.

6 Getting treasures by a lying tongue

Is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.

7 The violence of the wicked will drive them away,

Because they refuse to do what is right.

8 The way of the guilty is devious,

But the conduct of the innocent is upright.

9 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop,

Than to share a house with a contentious woman.

10 The soul of the wicked desires evil;

His neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.

11 When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom;

When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

12 The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked,

And brings the wicked to ruin.

13 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor,

He will also cry out, but shall not be heard.

14 A gift in secret pacifies anger;

And a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.

15 It is joy to the righteous to do justice;

But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

16 The man who wanders out of the way of understanding

Shall rest in the assembly of the dead.

17  He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man:

He who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.

18 The wicked is a ransom for the righteous;

The treacherous for the upright.

19 It is better to dwell in a desert land,

Than with a contentious and fretful woman.

20 There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise;

But a foolish man swallows it up.

21 He who follows after righteousness and kindness

Finds life, righteousness, and honor.

22 A wise man scales the city of the mighty,

And brings down the strength of its confidence.

23Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue

Keeps his soul from troubles.

24 The proud and haughty man, "scoffer" is his name;

He works in the arrogance of pride.

25 The desire of the sluggard kills him,

For his hands refuse to labor.

26 There are those who covet greedily all the day long;

But the righteous gives and doesn't withhold.

27 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination:

How much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!

28 A false witness will perish,

And a man who listens speaks to eternity.

29 A wicked man hardens his face;

But as for the upright, he establishes his ways.

30 There is no wisdom nor understanding

Nor counsel against the LORD.

31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle;

But victory is with the LORD.

OLD TESTAMENT: 1 CHRONICLES 11:1 - 12:18

11:1 Then all Yisra'el gathered themselves to David to Hevron, saying, Behold, we are your bone and your flesh. 2 In times past, even when Sha'ul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Yisra'el: and the LORD your God said to you, You shall be shepherd of my people Yisra'el, and you shall be prince over my people Yisra'el. 3 So all the Zakenim of Yisra'el came to the king to Hevron; and David made a covenant with them in Hevron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Yisra'el, according to the word of the LORD by Shemu'el. 4 David and all Yisra'el went to Yerushalayim (the same is Yevus); and the Yevusi, the inhabitants of the land, were there. 5 The inhabitants of Yevus said to David, You shall not come in here. Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Tziyon; the same is the city of David. 6 David said, Whoever strikes the Yevusi first shall be chief and captain. Yo'av the son of Tzeru'yah went up first, and was made chief. 7 David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David. 8 He built the city round about, from Millo even round about; and Yo'av repaired the rest of the city. 9 David grew greater and greater; for the LORD of Hosts was with him. 10 Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who shown themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Yisra'el, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Yisra'el. 11 This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Yashov`am, the son of a Hakhmoni, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time. 12 After him was El`azar the son of Dodo, the Achochi, who was one of the three mighty men. 13 He was with David at Pas-Dammim, and there the Pelishtim were gathered together to battle, where was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Pelishtim. 14 They stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Pelishtim; and the LORD saved them by a great victory. 15 Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of `Adullam; and the host of the Pelishtim were encamped in the valley of Refa'im. 16 David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Pelishtim was then in Beit-Lechem. 17 David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Beit-Lechem, which is by the gate! 18 The three broke through the host of the Pelishtim, and drew water out of the well of Beit-Lechem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD, 19 and said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this: shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy? for with [the jeopardy of] their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men. 20 Avishai, the brother of Yo'av, he was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three. 21 Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain: however he didn't attain to the [first] three. 22 Benayah the son of Yehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kavtz'el, who had done mighty deeds, he killed the two [sons of] Ari'el of Mo'av: he went down also and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow. 23 He killed a Mitzrian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Mitzrian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Mitzrian's hand, and killed him with his own spear. 24 These things did Benayah the son of Yehoiada, and had a name among the three mighty men. 25 Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn't attain to the [first] three: and David set him over his guard. 26 Also the mighty men of the armies: `Asa'el the brother of Yo'av, Elchanan the son of Dodo of Beit-Lechem,

27  Shammot the Harorite, Heletz the Pelonite, 28 `Ira the son of `Ikkesh the Tekoite, Avi-Ezer the `Antotite, 29 Sibbekhai the Hushatite, Ilai the Achochi, 30 Maharai the Netofatite, Heled the son of Ba`anah the Netofatite, 31 Itai the son of Rivai of Gevah of the children of Binyamin, Benayah the Pir`atonite, 32 Hurai of the brooks of Ga`ash, Aviel the `Arvati, 33 `Azmavet the Baharumite, Elyachba the Sha`alvonite, 34 the sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Yonatan the son of Shagee the Harari, 35 Achi'am the son of Sacar the Harari, Eliphal the son of Ur, 36 Hefer the Mekheratite, Achiyah the Pelonite, 37  Hetzro the Karmelite, Na`arai the son of Ezbai, 38 Yo'el the brother of Natan, Mivchar the son of Hagri, 39 Tzelek the `Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armor bearer of Yo'av the son of Tzeru'yah, 40 `Ira the Yitri, Garev the Yitri, 41 Uriyah the Hittite, Zavad the son of Achlai, 42 `Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a chief of the Re'uveni, and thirty with him, 43 Hanan the son of Ma`akhah, and Yoshafat the Mitni, 44 Uzzia the `Ashterati, Shama and Ye`i'el the sons of Hotam the `Aro`eri, 45 Yedi`a'el the son of Shimri, and Yocha his brother, the Titzi, 46 Eli'el the Machavim, and Yerivai, and Yoshavyah, the sons of Elnaam, and Yitmah the Mo'avite, 47  Eli'el, and `Oved, and Ya`asi'el the Mezobaite.

12:1 Now these are those who came to David to Tziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Sha'ul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men, his helpers in war. 2 They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in slinging stones and in shooting arrows from the bow: they were of Sha'ul's brothers of Binyamin. 3 The chief was Achi`ezer; then Yo'ash, the sons of Shema`ah the Giv`atite, and Yezi'el, and Pelet, the sons of `Azmavet, and Berakha, and Yehu the `Antotite, 4 and Yishma`yahu the Giv`oni, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty, and Yirmeyahu, and Yachazi'el, and Yochanan, and Yozavad the Gederatite, 5 Eluzai, and Yerimot, and Bealiah, and Shemaryahu, and Shefatyah the Harufite, 6 Elkana, and Yishshiyah, and `Azar'el, and Yoezer, and Yashov`am, the Korchi, 7 and Yo`elah, and Zevadyah, the sons of Yerocham of Gedor. 8 Of the Gadi there separated themselves to David to the stronghold in the wilderness, mighty men of valor, men trained for war, that could handle shield and spear; whose faces were like the faces of lions, and they were as swift as the roes on the mountains; 9 Etzer the chief, `Ovadyah the second, Eli'av the third,10 Mishmannah the fourth, Yirmeyahu the fifth, 11`Attai the sixth, Eli'el the seventh, 12 Yochanan the eighth, Elzavad the ninth, 13 Yirmeyahu the tenth, Makhbannai the eleventh. 14 These of the sons of Gad were captains of the host: he who was least was equal to one hundred, and the greatest to one thousand. 15 These are those who went over the Yarden in the first month, when it had overflowed all its banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west. 16 There came of the children of Binyamin and Yehudah to the stronghold to David. 17  David went out to meet them, and answered them, If you be come peaceably to me to help me, my heart shall be knit to you; but if [you be come] to betray me to my adversaries, seeing there is no wrong in my hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it. 18 Then the Spirit came on `Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, [and he said], Your are we, David, and on your side, you son of Yishai: shalom, shalom be to you, and shalom be to your helpers; for your God helps you. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

NEW TESTAMENT: ACTS 28:1 - 31

28:1 When we had escaped, then we knew that the island was called Malta.

2 The natives shown us no common kindness; for they kindled a fire, and received us all, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

3 But when Sha'ul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said one to another, "No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live."

5 However he shook off the creature into the fire, and wasn't harmed.

6 But they expected that he would have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly, but when they were long in expectation and saw nothing bad happen to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

7  Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us, and courteously entertained us three days.

8 It was so, that the father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Sha'ul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him.

9 Then when this was done, the rest also that had diseases in the island came, and were cured.

10 They also honored us with many honors, and when we sailed, they put on board the things that we needed.

11 After three months, we set sail in a ship of Alexandria which had wintered in the island, whose sign was "The Twin Brothers."

12 Touching at Syracuse, we stayed there three days.

13 From there we circled around and arrived at Rhegium. After one day, a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli,

14 where we found brothers, and were entreated to stay with them seven days. So we came to Rome.

15 From there the brothers, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns; whom when Sha'ul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

16 When we entered into Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard, but Sha'ul was allowed to stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

17 It happened that after three days Sha'ul called together those who were the leaders of the Yehudim. When they had come together, he said to them, "I, brothers, though I had done nothing against the people, or the customs of our fathers, still was delivered prisoner from Yerushalayim into the hands of the Romans,

18 who, when they had examined me, desired to set me free, because there was no cause of death in me.

19 But when the Yehudim spoke against it, I was constrained to appeal to Caesar, not that I had anything about which to accuse my nation.

20 For this cause therefore I asked you to see and to speak with me. For because of the hope of Yisra'el I am bound with this chain."

21 They said to him, "We neither received letters from Yehudah concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and report or speak any evil of you.

22 But we desire to hear from you what you think. For, as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against."

23 When they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number. He explained to them, testifying about the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Yeshua, both from the law of Moshe and from the prophets, from morning until evening.

24 Some believed the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved.

25 When they didn't agree among themselves, they departed after Sha'ul had spoken one word, "The Ruach HaKodesh spoke well through Yesha`yahu, the prophet, to our fathers,

26 saying, 'Go to this people, and say, In hearing, you will hear, And will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, And will in no way perceive.

27 For this people's heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, Hear with their ears, Understand with their heart, And would turn again, And I would heal them.'

28 "Be it known therefore to you, that the salvation of God is sent to the Goyim. They will also hear."

29 When he had said these words, the Yehudim departed, having a great dispute among themselves.

30Sha'ul stayed two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who went in to him,

31 preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching the things concerning the Lord Yeshua the Messiah with all boldness, without hinderance.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
