Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

NOVEMBER 17

PSALMS: 17, 47, 77, 107, 137

PROVERBS: 17

OLD TESTAMENT: EXODUS 23:14 - 25:40

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 24:29 - 51

PSALMS: 17

1 Hear, LORD, my righteous plea;

Give ear to my prayer, that doesn't go out of deceitful lips.

2 Let my sentence come forth from your presence;

Let your eyes look on equity.

3 You have proved my heart;

you have visited me in the night;

You have tried me, and found nothing;

I have resolved that my mouth shall not disobey.

4 As for the works of men,

by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.

5 My steps have held fast to your paths,

My feet have not slipped.

6 I have called on you, for you will answer me, God:

Turn your ear to me.

Hear my speech.

7 Show your marvelous loving kindness,

You who save those who take refuge by

your right hand from their enemies.

8 Keep me as the apple of your eye;

Hide me under the shadow of your wings,

9 From the wicked who oppress me,

My deadly enemies, who compass me about.

10 They close up their callous hearts.

With their mouth they speak proudly.

11 They have now surrounded us in our steps.

They set their eyes to cast us down to the eretz.

12 He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey,

As it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

13 Arise, LORD, Confront him, cast him down.

Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword;

14 From men by your hand, LORD,

From men of the world, whose portion is in this life,

Whose belly you fill with your treasure:

They are satisfied with children,

Leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

15 As for me, I shall see your face in righteousness;

I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with seeing your form.

PSALMS: 47

1 Oh clap your hands, all you nations.

Shout to God with the voice of triumph!

2 For the LORD Elyon is awesome.

He is a great King over all the eretz.

3 He subdues nations under us,

And peoples under our feet.

4 He chooses our inheritance for us,

The glory of Ya`akov whom he loved.

Selah.

5 God has gone up with a shout,

The LORD with the sound of a shofar.

6 Sing praise to God, sing praises.

Sing praises to our King, sing praises.

7 For God is the King of all the eretz.

Sing praises with understanding.

8 God reigns over the nations.

God sits on his holy throne.

9 The princes of the peoples are gathered together,

The people of the God of Avraham.

For the shields of the eretz belong to God.

He is greatly exalted!

PSALMS: 77

1 My cry goes to God! Indeed,

I cry to God for help,

And for him to listen to me.

2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord.

My hand was stretched out in the night, and didn't get tired.

My soul refused to be comforted.

3 I remember God, and I groan.

I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed.

Selah.

4 You hold my eyelids open.

I am so troubled that I can't speak.

5 I have considered the days of old,

The years of ancient times.

6 I remember my song in the night.

I consider in my own heart;

My spirit diligently inquires:

7 "Will the Lord reject us forever?

Will he be favorable no more?

8 Has his loving kindness vanished forever?

Does his promise fail for generations?

9 Has God forgotten to be gracious?

Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?"

Selah.

10Then I thought,

"I will appeal to this:

The years of the right hand of Ha`Elyon."

11 I will remember the LORD's deeds;

For I will remember your wonders of old.

12 I will also meditate on all your work,

And consider your doings.

13 Your way, God, is in the sanctuary.

What god is great like God?

14 You are the God who does wonders.

You have made your strength known among the peoples.

15 You have redeemed your people with your arm,

The sons of Ya`akov and Yosef. Selah.

16 The waters saw you, God.

The waters saw you, and they writhed.

The depths also convulsed.

17 The clouds poured out water.

The skies resounded with thunder.

Your arrows also flashed around.

18 The voice of your thunder was in the whirlwind.

The lightnings lit up the world.

The eretz trembled and shook.

19 Your way was through the sea;

Your paths through the great waters.

Your footsteps were not known.

20 You led your people like a flock,

By the hand of Moshe and Aharon.

PSALMS: 107

1 Give thanks to the LORD,

For he is good,

For his loving kindness endures forever.

2 Let the redeemed by the LORD say so,

Whom he has redeemed from the hand of the adversary,

3 Gathered out of the lands,

From the east and from the west,

From the north and from the south.

4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way.

They found no city to live in.

5 Hungry and thirsty,

Their soul fainted in them.

6 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,

And he delivered them out of their distresses,

7 He led them also by a straight way,

That they might go to a city to live in.

8 Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness,

For his wonderful works to the children of men!

9 For he satisfies the longing soul.

He fills the hungry soul with good.

10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,

Being bound in affliction and iron,

11 Because they rebelled against the words of God,

And condemned the counsel of Ha`Elyon.

12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labor.

They fell down, and there was none to help.

13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,

And he saved them out of their distresses.

14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,

And broke their bonds in sunder.

15 Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness,

For his wonderful works to the children of men!

16 For he has broken the gates of brass,

And cut through bars of iron.

17  Fools are afflicted because of their disobedience,

And because of their iniquities.

18 Their soul abhors all kinds of food.

They draw near to the gates of death.

19 Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble,

He saves them out of their distresses.

20 He sends his word, and heals them,

And delivers them from their graves.

21 Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness,

For his wonderful works to the children of men!

22 Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving,

And declare his works with singing.

23 Those who go down to the sea in ships,

Who do business in great waters;

24 These see the LORD's works,

And his wonders in the deep.

25 For he commands, and raises the stormy wind,

Which lifts up its waves.

26 They mount up to the sky;

they go down again to the depths.

Their soul melts away because of trouble.

27 They reel back and forth, and stagger like a drunken man,

And are at their wits' end.

28 Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble,

He brings them out of their distress.

29 He makes the storm a calm,

So that its waves are still.

30 Then are they glad because it is calm,

So he brings them to their desired haven.

31 Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness,

For his wonderful works to the children of men!

32 Let them exalt him also in the assembly of the people,

And praise him in the seat of the Zakenim.

33 He turns rivers into a desert,

Water springs into a thirsty ground,

34 And a fruitful land into a salt waste,

For the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

35 He turns a desert into a pool of water,

And a dry land into water springs.

36 There he makes the hungry to live,

That they may prepare a city to live in,

37  Sow fields, plant vineyards,

And reap the fruits of increase.

38 He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly.

He doesn't allow their cattle to decrease.

39 Again, they are diminished and bowed down

Through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.

40 He pours contempt on princes,

And causes them to wander in a trackless waste.

41 Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction,

And increases their families like a flock.

42 The upright will see it, and be glad.

All the wicked will shut their mouths.

43 Whoever is wise will pay attention to these things.

They will consider the loving

kindnesses of the LORD.

PSALMS: 137

1 By the rivers of Bavel, there we sat down.

Yes, we wept, when we remembered Tziyon.

2 On the willows in the midst of it,

We hung up our harps.

3 For there, those who led us captive asked us for songs.

Those who tormented us demanded songs of joy:

"Sing us one of the songs of Tziyon!"

4 How can we sing the LORD's song in a foreign land?

5 If I forget you, Yerushalayim,

Let my right hand forget its skill.

6 Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,

If I don't remember you;

If I don't prefer Yerushalayim above my chief joy.

7 Remember, LORD, against the children of Edom,

The day of Yerushalayim;

Who said, "Raze it! Raze it even to its foundation!"

8 Daughter of Bavel, doomed to destruction,

He will be happy who rewards you,

As you have served us.

9 Happy shall he be,

Who takes and dashes your little ones against the rock.

PROVERBS: 17

1 Better is a dry morsel with quietness,

Than a house full of feasting with strife.

2 A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who causes shame,

And shall have a part in the inheritance among the brothers.

3 The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold,

But the LORD tests the hearts.

4 An evil-doer gives heed to wicked lips.

A liar gives ear to a mischievous tongue.

5 Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker.

He who is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.

6 Children's children are the crown of old men;

The glory of children are their parents.

7 Arrogant speech isn't fitting for a fool,

Much less do lying lips fit a prince.

8 A bribe is a precious stone in the eyes of him who gives it;

Wherever he turns, he prospers.

9 He who covers an offense promotes love;

But he who repeats a matter separates best friends.

10 A rebuke enters deeper into one who has understanding

Than a hundred lashes into a fool.

11 An evil man seeks only rebellion;

Therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

12 Let a bear robbed of her cubs meet a man,

Rather than a fool in his folly.

13 Whoever rewards evil for good,

Evil shall not depart from his house.

14 The beginning of strife is like breaching a dam,

Therefore stop contention before quarreling breaks out.

15 He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous,

Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.

16 Why is there money in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom,

Seeing he has no understanding?

17 A friend loves at all times;

And a brother is born for adversity.

18 A man void of understanding strikes hands,

And becomes collateral in the presence of his neighbor.

19 He who loves disobedience loves strife.

One who builds a high gate seeks destruction.

20 One who has a perverse heart doesn't find prosperity,

And one who has a deceitful tongue falls into trouble.

21 He who becomes the father of a fool grieves.

The father of a fool has no joy.

22 A cheerful heart makes good medicine,

But a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

23 A wicked man receives a bribe in secret,

To pervert the ways of justice.

24 Wisdom is before the face of one who has understanding,

But the eyes of a fool wander to the ends of the eretz.

25 A foolish son brings grief to his father,

And bitterness to her who bore him.

26 Also to punish the righteous is not good,

Nor to flog officials for their integrity.

27 He who spares his words has knowledge.

He who is even tempered is a man of understanding.

28 Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is counted wise.

When he shuts his lips, he is thought to be discerning.

OLD TESTAMENT: EXODUS 23:14 - 25:40

23:14 "You shall observe a feast to me three times a year 15 You shall observe the feast of matzah. Seven days you shall eat matzah, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Aviv (for in it you came out from Mitzrayim), and no one shall appear before me empty. 16 And the Hag-HaKatzir, the first fruits of your labors, which you sow in the field: and the Hag-HaKatzir, at the end of the year, when you gather in your labors out of the field. 17 Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord GOD. 18 "You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread, neither shall the fat of my feast remain all night until the morning. 19 The first of the first fruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God. "You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk 20 "Behold, I send an angel before you, to keep you by the way, and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. 21 Pay attention to him, and listen to his voice. Don't provoke him, for he will not pardon your disobedience, for my name is in him 22 But if you indeed listen to his voice, and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and an adversary to your adversaries. 23 For my angel shall go before you, and bring you in to the Amori, the Hittite, the Perizzi, the Kana`ani, the Hivvi, and the Yevusi; and I will cut them off. 24 You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor follow their practices, but you shall utterly overthrow them and demolish their pillars. 25 You shall serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from your midst.26 No one will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will fulfill the number of your days. 27 I will send my terror before you, and will confuse all the people to whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. 28 I will send the hornet before you, which will drive out the Hivvi, the Kana`ani, and the Hittite, from before you. 29 I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate, and the animals of the field multiply against you. 30 Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and inherit the land. 31 I will set your border from the Sea of Suf even to the sea of the Pelishtim, and from the wilderness to the River; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you. 32 You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. 33 They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me, for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you."

24:1 He said to Moshe, "Come up to the LORD, you, and Aharon, Nadav, and Avihu, and seventy of the Zakenim of Yisra'el; and worship from a distance. 2 Moshe alone shall come near to the LORD, but they shall not come near, neither shall the people go up with him." 3 Moshe came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, "All the words which the LORD has spoken will we do." 4 Moshe wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Yisra'el. 5 He sent young men of the children of Yisra'el, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace-offerings of oxen to the LORD. 6 Moshe took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7  He took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people, and they said, "All that the LORD has spoken will we do, and be obedient." 8 Moshe took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, "Look, this is the blood of the covenant, which the LORD has made with you concerning all these words." 9 Then Moshe, Aharon, Nadav, Avihu, and seventy of the Zakenim of Yisra'el went up. 10 They saw the God of Yisra'el. Under his feet was like a paved work of sappir stone, like the skies for clearness. 11 He didn't lay his hand on the nobles of the children of Yisra'el. They saw God, and ate and drank. 12 The LORD said to Moshe, "Come up to me on the mountain, and stay here, and I will give you the tables of stone with the law and the commands that I have written, that you may teach them." 13 Moshe rose up with Yehoshua, his servant, and Moshe went up onto God's Mountain. 14 He said to the Zakenim, "Wait here for us, until we come again to you. Behold, Aharon and Hur are with you. Whoever is involved in a dispute can go to them." 15 Moshe went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. 16 The glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. The seventh day he called to Moshe out of the midst of the cloud. 17 The appearance of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Yisra'el. 18 Moshe entered into the midst of the cloud, and went up on the mountain; and Moshe was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

25:1 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 2 "Speak to the children of Yisra'el, that they take an offering for me. From everyone whose heart makes him willing you shall take my offering. 3 This is the offering which you shall take from them: gold, silver, brass, 4blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen, goats' hair, 5 rams' skins dyed red, sea cow hides, shittim wood, 6 oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense, 7 shoham stones, and stones to be set for the efod and for the breastplate. 8 Let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. 9 According to all that I show you, the pattern of the tent, and the pattern of all of its furniture, even so you shall make it. 10 "They shall make a teivah of shittim wood. Its length shall be two and a half cubits, its breadth a cubit and a half, and a cubit and a half its height. 11 You shall overlay it with pure gold. Inside and outside shall you overlay it, and shall make a gold molding around it. 12 You shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in its four feet. Two rings shall be on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it. 13 You shall make poles of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold. 14 You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark. 15 The poles shall be in the rings of the ark. They shall not be taken from it. 16 You shall put the testimony which I shall give you into the teivah. 17 You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold. Two and a half cubits shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth. 18 You shall make two Keruvim of hammered gold. You shall make them at the two ends of the mercy seat. 19 Make one Keruv at the one end, and one Keruv at the other end. You shall make the Keruvim on its two ends of one piece with the mercy seat. 20 The Keruvim shall spread out their wings upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another. The faces of the Keruvim shall be toward the mercy seat. 21 You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I will give you. 22 There I will meet with you, and I will tell you from above the mercy seat, from between the two Keruvim which are on the ark of the testimony, all that I command you for the children of Yisra'el. 23 "You shall make a table of shittim wood. Two cubits shall be its length, and a cubit its breadth, and one and a half cubits its height. 24 You shall overlay it with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it. 25 You shall make a rim of a handbreadth around it. You shall make a golden molding on its rim around it. 26 You shall make four rings of gold for it, and put the rings in the four corners that are on its four feet. 27 the rings shall be close to the rim, for places for the poles to carry the table. 28 You shall make the poles of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table may be carried with them. 29 You shall make its dishes, its spoons, its ladles, and its bowls to pour out offerings with. Of pure gold shall you make them. 30 You shall set bread of the presence on the table before me always. 31 "You shall make a menorah of pure gold. Of hammered work shall the menorah be made, even its base, its shaft, its cups, its buds, and its flowers, shall be of one piece with it. 32 There shall be six branches going out of its sides: three branches of the menorah out of its one side, and three branches of the menorah out of its other side; 33 three cups made like almond blossoms in one branch, a bud and a flower; and three cups made like almond blossoms in the other branch, a bud and a flower, so for the six branches going out of the menorah; 34 and in the menorah four cups made like almond blossoms, its buds and its flowers; 35 and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, for the six branches going out of the menorah. 36 Their buds and their branches shall be of one piece with it, the whole of it one beaten work of pure gold. 37 You shall make its lamps seven, and they shall light its lamps to give light to the space in front of it. 38 Its snuffers and its snuff dishes shall be of pure gold. 39 It shall be made of a talent of pure gold, with all these accessories. 40 See that you make them after their pattern, which has been shown to you on the mountain.

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 24:29 - 51

24:29 But immediately after the oppression of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give her light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;

30 and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the eretz will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.

31 He will send forth his angels with a great sound of a shofar, and they will gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

32 "Now from the fig tree learn her parable. When its branch has now become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that the summer is near.

33 Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Most assuredly I tell you, this generation will not pass away, until all these things are accomplished.

35 Heaven and eretz will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

36 But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 "As the days of Noach, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

38 For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noach entered into the teivah,

39 and they didn't know until the flood came, and took them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one will be left;

41 two women grinding at the mill, one will be taken and one will be left.

42 Watch therefore, for you don't know in what hour your Lord comes.

43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.

44 Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don't expect, the Son of Man will come.

45 "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season?

46 Blessed is that servant whom his lord will find doing so when he comes.

47 Most assuredly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has.

48 But if that evil servant should say in his heart, 'My lord is delaying his coming,'

49 and began to beat his fellow-servants, and eat and drink with the drunken,

50 the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn't expect it, and in an hour when he doesn't know it,

51 and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
