the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the
hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said:

love you, O LORD, my strength.

The
LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my
God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.
He
is my shield and the horn A
of my salvation, my stronghold.

I
call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise,
and
I am saved from my enemies.

The
cords of death entangled me;
the
torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.

The
cords of the grave B
coiled around me;

snares of death confronted me.

In
my distress I called to the LORD;
I
cried to my God for help.
From
his temple he heard my voice;

earth trembled and quaked,

rescued me from my powerful enemy,

confronted me in the day of my disaster,

LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness;

is the LORD, and most worthy of praise,

the city of our God, his holy mountain.

is beautiful in its loftiness,

God
is in her citadels;
he
has shown himself to be her fortress.

the kings joined forces,

1
O
my people, hear my teaching;
listen
to the words of my mouth.
2
I
will open my mouth in parables,
I
will utter hidden things, things from of old--
3
what
we have heard and known,
what
our fathers have told us.
4
We
will not hide them from their children;
we
will tell the next generation
the
praiseworthy deeds of the LORD,
his
power, and the wonders he has done.
5
He
decreed statutes for Jacob
and
established the law in Israel,
which
he commanded our forefathers
to
teach their children,
6
so
the next generation would know them,
even
the children yet to be born,
and
they in turn would tell their children.
7
Then
they would put their trust in God
and
would not forget his deeds
but
would keep his commands.
8
They
would not be like their forefathers--
a
stubborn and rebellious generation,
whose
hearts were not loyal to God,
whose
spirits were not faithful to him.
9
The
men of Ephraim, though armed with bows,
turned
back on the day of battle;
10
they
did not keep God's covenant
and
refused to live by his law.
11
They
forgot what he had done,
the
wonders he had shown them.

He
did miracles in the sight of their fathers
in
the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.
13
He
divided the sea and led them through;
he
made the water stand firm like a wall.

He
guided them with the cloud by day
and
with light from the fire all night.

He
split the rocks in the desert
and
gave them water as abundant as the seas;

brought streams out of a rocky crag

made water flow down like rivers.

But
they continued to sin against him,
rebelling
in the desert against the Most High.

willfully put God to the test
by
demanding the food they craved.

spoke against God, saying,
"Can
God spread a table in the desert?

When
he struck the rock, water gushed out,
and
streams flowed abundantly.
But
can he also give us food?
Can
he supply meat for his people?"

When
the LORD heard them, he was very angry;
his
fire broke out against Jacob,
and
his wrath rose against Israel,
22
for
they did not believe in God
or
trust in his deliverance.
23
Yet
he gave a command to the skies above
and
opened the doors of the heavens;
24
he
rained down manna for the people to eat, 7
he
gave them the grain of heaven.
25
Men
ate the bread of angels;
he
sent them all the food they could eat.
26
He
let loose the east wind from the heavens
and
led forth the south wind by his power.
27
He
rained meat down on them like dust,
flying
birds like sand on the seashore.

He
made them come down inside their camp,
all
around their tents.

They
ate till they had more than enough,
for
he had given them what they craved.

But
before they turned from the food they craved,
even
while it was still in their mouths,

God's
anger rose against them;
he
put to death the sturdiest among them,
cutting
down the young men of Israel.

In
spite of all this, they kept on sinning;
in
spite of his wonders, they did not believe.

So
he ended their days in futility
and
their years in terror.

Whenever
God slew them, they would seek him;
they
eagerly turned to him again.

They
remembered that God was their Rock,
that
God Most High was their Redeemer.

But
then they would flatter him with their mouths,
lying
to him with their tongues;
37
their
hearts were not loyal to him,
they
were not faithful to his covenant.
38
Yet
he was merciful;
he
forgave their iniquities
and
did not destroy them.
Time
after time he restrained his anger
and
did not stir up his full wrath. 8

He
remembered that they were but flesh,
a
passing breeze that does not return.

How
often they rebelled against him in the desert
and
grieved him in the wasteland!

Again
and again they put God to the test;
they
vexed the Holy One of Israel.

They
did not remember his power--
the
day he redeemed them from the oppressor,

the
day he displayed his miraculous signs in Egypt,
his
wonders in the region of Zoan.
44
He
turned their rivers to blood;
they
could not drink from their streams.
45
He
sent swarms of flies that devoured them,
and
frogs that devastated them.

He
gave their crops to the grasshopper,
their
produce to the locust.

He
destroyed their vines with hail
and
their sycamore-figs with sleet.

He
gave over their cattle to the hail,
their
livestock to bolts of lightning.

He
unleashed against them his hot anger,

wrath, indignation and hostility--
a
band of destroying angels.

prepared a path for his anger;
he
did not spare them from death
but
gave them over to the plague.

struck down all the firstborn of Egypt,
the
firstfruits of manhood in the tents of Ham.

But
he brought his people out like a flock;
he
led them like sheep through the desert.

guided them safely, so they were unafraid;

the sea engulfed their enemies.

drove out nations before them

rejected Israel completely.

abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh,

tent he had set up among men.

He
sent the ark of his might into captivity,

splendor into the hands of the enemy.

He
gave his people over to the sword;

was very angry with his inheritance.

Fire
consumed their young men,
and
their maidens had no wedding songs;

their
priests were put to the sword,

their widows could not weep.

Then
the Lord awoke as from sleep,

a man wakes from the stupor of wine.

beat back his enemies;

"Make
the tabernacle with ten curtains of finely twisted linen and blue,
purple and scarlet yarn, with cherubim worked into them by a skilled
craftsman.
2
All the curtains are to be the same size--twenty-eight cubits long
and four cubits wide.
A

Join
five of the curtains together, and do the same with the other five.
4
Make
loops of blue material along the edge of the end curtain in one set,
and do the same with the end curtain in the other set.
5
Make
fifty loops on one curtain and fifty loops on the end curtain of the
other set, with the loops opposite each other.
6
Then
make fifty gold clasps and use them to fasten the curtains together
so that the tabernacle is a unit.
7
"Make
curtains of goat hair for the tent over the tabernacle--eleven
altogether.
8
All
eleven curtains are to be the same size--thirty cubits long and four
cubits wide.

Join
five of the curtains together into one set and the other six into
another set.
Fold the sixth curtain double at the front of the tent.

Make
fifty loops along the edge of the end curtain in one set and also
along the edge of the end curtain in the other set.

Then
make fifty bronze clasps and put them in the loops to fasten the tent
together as a unit.

As
for the additional length of the tent curtains, the half curtain that
is left over is to hang down at the rear of the tabernacle.

The
tent curtains will be a cubit C
longer on both sides; what is left will hang over the sides of the
tabernacle so as to cover it.

for the tent a covering of ram skins dyed red, and over that a
covering of hides of sea cows.

upright frames of acacia wood for the tabernacle.

frame is to be ten cubits long and a cubit and a half wide,

two projections set parallel to each other. Make all the frames of
the tabernacle in this way.

make forty silver bases to go under them--two bases for each frame,

for those on the other side, and five for the frames on the west, at
the far end of the tabernacle.

center crossbar is to extend from end to end at the middle of the
frames.

Overlay
the frames with gold and make gold rings to hold the crossbars. Also
overlay the crossbars with gold.

"Set
up the tabernacle according to the plan shown you on the mountain.

"Make
a curtain of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen,
with cherubim worked into it by a skilled craftsman.

Hang
it with gold hooks on four posts of acacia wood overlaid with gold
and standing on four silver bases.

Hang
the curtain from the clasps and place 18
the ark of the Testimony behind the curtain.

curtain will separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.

the atonement cover on the ark of the Testimony in the Most Holy

the entrance to the tent make a curtain of blue, purple and scarlet

with gold.
And
cast five bronze bases for them.

an altar of acacia wood, three cubits A
high;
it is to be square, five cubits long and five cubits wide.

a horn at each of the four corners, so that the horns and the altar
are of one piece, and overlay the altar with bronze.

all its utensils of bronze--its pots to remove the ashes, and its
shovels, sprinkling bowls, meat forks and firepans.

a grating for it, a bronze network, and make a bronze ring at each of
the four corners of the network.

Put
it under the ledge of the altar so that it is halfway up the altar.

Make
poles of acacia wood for the altar and overlay them with bronze.

The
poles are to be inserted into the rings so they will be on two sides
of the altar when it is carried.

Make
the altar hollow, out of boards. It is to be made just as you were
shown on the mountain.

"Make
a courtyard for the tabernacle.
The south side shall be a hundred cubits C
long and is to have curtains of finely twisted linen,

with
twenty posts and twenty bronze bases and with silver hooks and bands
on the posts.
11
The
north side shall also be a hundred cubits long and is to have
curtains, with twenty posts and twenty bronze bases and with silver
hooks and bands on the posts.

"The
west end of the courtyard shall be fifty cubits D
wide and have curtains, with ten posts and ten bases.
13
On
the east end, toward the sunrise, the courtyard shall also be fifty
cubits wide.

Curtains
fifteen cubits E
long are to be on one side of the entrance, with three posts and
three bases,
15
and
curtains fifteen cubits long are to be on the other side, with three
posts and three bases.

"For
the entrance to the courtyard, provide a curtain twenty cubits F
long, of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen--the
work of an embroiderer--with four posts and four bases.

All
the posts around the courtyard are to have silver bands and hooks,
and bronze bases.

The
courtyard shall be a hundred cubits long and fifty cubits wide,

curtains of finely twisted linen five cubits H
high, and with bronze bases.

All
the other articles used in the service of the tabernacle, whatever
their function, including all the tent pegs for it and those for the
courtyard, are to be of bronze.

"Command
the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light
so that the lamps may be kept burning.

In
the Tent of Meeting, outside the curtain that is in front of the
Testimony, Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps burning before
the LORD from evening till morning. This is to be a lasting ordinance
among the Israelites for the generations to come.

"At
that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took
their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2
Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
3
The
foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.
4
The
wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.
5
The
bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and
fell asleep.
6
"At
midnight the cry rang out:
`Here's
the bridegroom!
Come out to meet him!'
7
"Then
all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.
8
The
foolish ones said to the wise,
`Give
us some of your oil;
our lamps are going out.'

"`No,'
they replied,
`there
may not be enough for both us and you.
Instead,
go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.'

"But
while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived.
The
virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet.
And the door was shut.

the others also came.
`Sir!

`Open
the door for us!'

keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
