kings of the earth take their stand

transgressions are forgiven,

I kept silent,

my groaning all day long.

day and night
your
hand was heavy upon me;
my
strength was sapped

soul finds rest in God alone;
my
salvation comes from him.

long will you assault a man?

They
fully intend to topple him
from
his lofty place;
they
take delight in lies.
With
their mouths they bless,
but
in their hearts they curse.

Find
rest, O my soul, in God alone;

is good to praise the LORD

make music to your name, O Most High,

proclaim your love in the morning

your faithfulness at night,

the melody of the harp.

For
you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD;
I
sing for joy at the works of your hands.

How
great are your works, O LORD,
how
profound your thoughts!

The
senseless man does not know,
fools
do not understand,

that
though the wicked spring up like grass
and
all evildoers flourish,
they
will be forever destroyed.

I
rejoiced with those who said to me,
"Let
us go to the house of the LORD."

Our
feet are standing
in
your gates, O Jerusalem.

Jerusalem
is built like a city
that
is closely compacted together.
4
That
is where the tribes go up,
the
tribes of the LORD,
to
praise the name of the LORD
according
to the statute given to Israel.
5
There
the thrones for judgment stand,
the
thrones of the house of David.
6
Pray
for the peace of Jerusalem:
"May
those who love you be secure.
7
May
there be peace within your walls
and
security within your citadels."

For
the sake of my brothers and friends,
I
will say, "Peace be within you."

the sake of the house of the LORD our God,

PROVERBS:

My son, if you accept my words
and
store up my commands within you,

turning
your ear to wisdom
and
applying your heart to understanding,
3
and
if you call out for insight
and
cry aloud for understanding,
4
and
if you look for it as for silver
and
search for it as for hidden treasure,
5
then
you will understand the fear of the LORD
and
find the knowledge of God.
6
For
the LORD gives wisdom,
and
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7
He
holds victory in store for the upright,
he
is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8
for
he guards the course of the just
and
protects the way of his faithful ones.

Then
you will understand what is right and just
and
fair--every good path.

For
wisdom will enter your heart,

knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

Discretion
will protect you,
and
understanding will guard you.

Wisdom

We
are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding
yours from us.
13
As
a fair exchange--I speak as to my children--open wide your hearts
also.
14
Do
not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and
wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with
darkness? 15
What
harmony is there between Christ and Belial B?
What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16
What
agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are
the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I
will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and
they will be my people."

"Therefore
come out from them
and
be separate,
says
the Lord.
Touch
no unclean thing,
and
I will receive you."

"I
will be a Father to you,
and
you will be my sons and daughters,
says
the Lord Almighty."

Since
we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from
everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out
of reverence for God. 11

Make
room for us in your hearts. We have wronged no one, we have corrupted
no one, we have exploited no one. 3
I
do not say this to condemn you; I have said before that you have such
a place in our hearts that we would live or die with you. 4
I
have great confidence in you; I take great pride in you. I am greatly
encouraged; in all our troubles my joy knows no bounds.

For
when we came into Macedonia, this body of ours had no rest, but we
were harassed at every turn--conflicts on the outside, fears within.
6
But
God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus,
7
and
not only by his coming but also by the comfort you had given him. He
told us about your longing for me, your deep sorrow, your ardent
concern for me, so that my joy was greater than ever.
8
Even
if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did
regret it--I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little
while—9
yet
now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your
sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God
intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10
Godly
sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no
regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

See
what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what
eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what
longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every
point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter. 12

So
even though I wrote to you, it was not on account of the one who did
the wrong or of the injured party, but rather that before God you
could see for yourselves how devoted to us you are. 13
By
all this we are encouraged.
In
addition to our own encouragement, we were especially delighted to
see how happy Titus was, because his spirit has been refreshed by all
of you. 14
I
had boasted to him about you, and you have not embarrassed me. But
just as everything we said to you was true, so our boasting about you
to Titus has proved to be true as well. 15
And
his affection for you is all the greater when he remembers that you
were all obedient, receiving him with fear and trembling. 16
I
am glad I can have complete confidence in you.

And
now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given
the Macedonian churches. 2
Out
of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme
poverty welled up in rich generosity. 3
For
I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond
their ability. Entirely on their own, 4
they
urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service
to the saints. 5
And
they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the
Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will. 6
So
we urged Titus, since he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also
to completion this act of grace on your part. 7
But
just as 13
you excel in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in
complete earnestness and in your love for us A--see
that you also excel in this grace of giving.
8
I
am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love
by comparing it with the earnestness of others. 9
For
you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich,
yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty
might become rich.
10
And
here is my advice about what is best for you in this matter: Last
year you were the first not only to give but also to have the desire
to do so. 14
NEW
TESTAMENT:
ROMANS 7:14 - 8:8
14
We
know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave
to sin. 15
I
do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but
what I hate I do.
16
And
if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17
As
it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in
me. 18
I
know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. C
For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
19
For
what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to
do--this I keep on doing. 20
Now
if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it
is sin living in me that does it.
21
So
I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there
with me. 22
For
in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23
but
I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war
against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin
at work within my members. 24
What
a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25
Thanks
be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So
then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful
nature a slave to the law of sin.

Therefore,
there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, A
2
because
through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from
the law of sin and death. 3
For
what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the
sinful nature, B
God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a
sin offering. C
And so he condemned sin in sinful man, D
4
in
order 15
that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us,
who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the
Spirit.
5
Those
who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what
that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit
have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6
The
mind of sinful man E
is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7
the
sinful mind F
is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
8
Those
controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. 16
