Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

MAY 12

PSALMS: 12, 42, 72, 102, 132

PROVERBS: 12

OLD TESTAMENT: 2 CHRONICLES 30:1 - 31:21

NEW TESTAMENT: ROMANS 15:1 - 22

PSALMS: 12

1 Help, LORD;

for the godly man ceases.

For the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 Everyone lies to his neighbor.

With flattering lips, and with a double heart, do they speak.

3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips,

And the tongue that boasts,

4 Who have said, "With our tongue will we prevail.

Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?"

5 "Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy,

I will now arise," says the LORD;

"I will set him in safety from those who malign him."

6 The words of the LORD are flawless words,

As silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.

7 You will keep them, LORD,

You will preserve them from this generation forever.

8 The wicked walk on every side,

When what is vile is exalted among the sons of men.

PSALMS: 42

1 As the deer pants for the water brooks,

So pants my soul after you, God.

2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.

When shall I come and appear before God?

3 My tears have been my food day and night,

While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?"

4 These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me,

How I used to go with the crowd, and led them to the house of God,

With the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day.

5 Why are you in despair, my soul?

Why are you disturbed within me?

Hope in God!

For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence.

6 My God, my soul is in despair within me.

Therefore I remember you from the land of the Yarden,

The heights of Hermon, from the hill Mitz`ar.

7 Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls.

All your waves and your billows have swept over me.

8 The LORD will command his loving kindness in the daytime.

In the night his song shall be with me:

A prayer to the God of my life.

9 I will ask God, my rock,

"Why have you forgotten me?

Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"

10 As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me,

While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?"

11 Why are you in despair, my soul?

Why are you disturbed within me?

Hope in God!

For I shall still praise him,

The saving help of my countenance, and my God.

PSALMS: 72

1 God, give the king your justice;

Your righteousness to the royal son.

2 He will judge your people with righteousness,

And your poor with justice.

3 The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people;

The hills bring the fruit of righteousness.

4 He will judge the poor of the people.

He will save the children of the needy,

And will break the oppressor in pieces.

5 They shall fear you while the sun endures;

And as long as the moon, throughout all generations.

6 He will come down like rain on the mown grass,

As showers that water the eretz.

7 In his days, the righteous shall flourish,

And abundance of shalom, until the moon is no more.

8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,

From the River to the ends of the eretz.

9 Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him.

His enemies shall lick the dust.

10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring tribute.

The kings of Sheva and Seva shall offer gifts.

11 Yes, all kings shall fall down before him.

All nations shall serve him.

12 For he will deliver the needy when he cries;

The poor, who has no helper.

13 He will have pity on the poor and needy.

He will save the souls of the needy.

14 He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence.

Their blood will be precious in his sight.

15 They shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheva.

Men shall pray for him continually.

They shall bless him all day long.

16 There shall be abundance of grain throughout the land.

Its fruit sways like Levanon.

Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field.

17 His name endures forever.

His name continues as long as the sun.

Men shall be blessed by him.

All nations will call him blessed.

18 Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Yisra'el,

Who alone does marvelous deeds.

19 Blessed be his glorious name forever!

Let the whole eretz be filled with his glory!

Amein and amein.

20 This ends the prayers by David, the son of Yishai.

PSALMS: 102

1 Hear my prayer, LORD! Let my cry come to you.

2 Don't hide your face from me in the day of my distress.

Turn your ear to me.

Answer me quickly in the day when I call.

3 For my days consume away like smoke.

My bones are burned as a firebrand.

4 My heart is blighted like grass, and withered,

For I forget to eat my bread.

5 By reason of the voice of my groaning,

My bones stick to my skin.

6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness.

I have become as an owl of the waste places.

7 I watch, and have become like a sparrow that is alone on the housetop.

8 My enemies reproach me all day.

Those who are mad at me use my name as a curse.

9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,

And mixed my drink with tears,

10 Because of your indignation and your wrath,

For you have taken me up, and thrown me away.

11 My days are like a long shadow.

I have withered like grass.

12 But you, LORD, will abide forever;

Your renown endures to all generations.

13 You will arise and have mercy on Tziyon;

For it is time to have pity on her.

Yes, the set time has come.

14 For your servants take pleasure in her stones,

And have pity on her dust.

15 So the nations will fear the name of the LORD;

All the kings of the eretz your glory.

16 For the LORD has built up Tziyon.

He has appeared in his glory.

17 He has responded to the prayer of the destitute,

And has not despised their prayer.

18 This will be written for the generation to come.

A people which will be created will praise the LORD.

19 For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary.

From heaven, the LORD saw the eretz;

20 To hear the groans of the prisoner;

To free those who are condemned to death;

21 That men may declare the name of the LORD in Tziyon,

And his praise in Yerushalayim;

22 When the peoples are gathered together,

The kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

23 He weakened my strength along the course.

He shortened my days.

24 I said, "My God, don't take me away in the midst of my days.

Your years are throughout all generations.

25 Of old, you laid the foundation of the eretz.

The heavens are the work of your hands.

26 They will perish, but you will endure.

Yes, all of them will wear out like a garment.

You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed.

27 But you are the same.

Your years will have no end.

28 The children of your servants will continue.

Their seed will be established before you."

PSALMS: 132

1 LORD, remember David and all his affliction,

2 How he swore to the LORD,

And vowed to the Mighty One of Ya`akov:

3 "Surely I will not come into the structure of my house,

Nor go up into my bed;

4 I will not give sleep to my eyes,

Or slumber to my eyelids;

5 Until I find out a place for the LORD,

A dwelling for the Mighty One of Ya`akov."

6 Behold, we heard of it in Efratah.

We found it in the field of Ya`ar:

7 "We will go into his dwelling place.

We will worship at his footstool.

8 Arise, LORD, into your resting place;

You, and the ark of your strength.

9 Let your Kohen be clothed with righteousness.

Let your holy ones shout for joy!"

10 For your servant David's sake,

Don't turn away the face of your anointed one.

11 The LORD has sworn to David in truth.

He will not turn from it:

"I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.

12 If your children will keep my covenant,

My testimony that I will teach them,

Their children also will sit on your throne forevermore."

13 For the LORD has chosen Tziyon.

He has desired it for his habitation.

14 "This is my resting place forever.

Here I will live, for I have desired it.

15 I will abundantly bless her provision.

I will satisfy her poor with bread.

16 Her Kohanim I will also clothe with salvation.

Her holy ones will shout aloud for joy.

17 There I will make the horn of David to bud.

I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.

18 I will clothe his enemies with shame,

But on himself, his crown will be resplendant."

PROVERBS: 12

1 Whoever loves correction loves knowledge,

But he who hates reproof is stupid.

2 A good man shall obtain favor from the LORD,

But he will condemn a man of wicked devices.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness,

But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

4 A worthy woman is the crown of her husband,

But a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are just.

The advice of the wicked is deceitful.

6 The words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood,

But the speech of the upright rescues them.

7 The wicked are overthrown, and are no more,

But the house of the righteous shall stand.

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom,

But he who has a warped mind shall be despised.

9 Better is he who is lightly esteemed, and has a servant,

Than he who honors himself, and lacks bread.

10 A righteous man regards the life of his animal,

But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread,

But he who chases fantasies is void of understanding.

12 The wicked desires the plunder of evil men,

But the root of the righteous flourishes.

13 An evil man is trapped by sinfulness of lips,

But the righteous shall come out of trouble.

14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth.

The doings of a man's hands shall be rewarded to him.

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,

But he who is wise listens to counsel.

16 A fool shows his annoyance the same day,

But one who overlooks an insult is prudent.

17 He who is truthful testifies honestly,

But a false witness lies.

18 There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword,

But the tongue of the wise heals.

19 Truth's lips will be established forever,

But a lying tongue is only momentary.

20 Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil,

But joy comes to the promoters of shalom.

21 No mischief shall happen to the righteous,

But the wicked shall be filled with evil.

22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD,

But those who do the truth are his delight.

23 A prudent man keeps his knowledge,

But the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness.

24 The hands of the diligent ones shall rule,

But laziness ends in slave labor.

25 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down,

But a kind word makes it glad.

26 The righteous is cautious in friendship,

But the way of the wicked leads them astray.

27 The slothful man doesn't roast his game,

But the possessions of diligent men are prized.

28 In the way of righteousness is life;

In its path there is no death.

OLD TESTAMENT: 2 CHRONICLES 30:1 - 31:21

30:1 Hizkiyahu sent to all Yisra'el and Yehudah, and wrote letters also to Efrayim and Menashsheh, that they should come to the house of the LORD at Yerushalayim, to keep the Pesach to the LORD, the God of Yisra'el. 2 For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the assembly in Yerushalayim, to keep the Pesach in the second month. 3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the Kohanim had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Yerushalayim. 4 The thing was right in the eyes of the king and of all the assembly. 5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Yisra'el, from Be'er-Sheva even to Dan, that they should come to keep the Pesach to the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, at Yerushalayim: for they had not kept it in great numbers in such sort as it is written. 6 So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Yisra'el and Yehudah, and according to the mitzvah of the king, saying, You children of Yisra'el, turn again to the LORD, the God of Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yisra'el, that he may return to the remnant that have escaped of you out of the hand of the kings of Ashshur. 7 Don't be you like your fathers, and like your brothers, who trespassed against the LORD, the God of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as you see. 8 Now don't you be stiff-necked, as your fathers were; but yield yourselves to the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever, and serve the LORD your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you. 9 For if you turn again to the LORD, your brothers and your children shall find compassion before those who led them captive, and shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him. 10 So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Efrayim and Menashsheh, even to Zevulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them. 11 Nevertheless certain men of Asher and Menashsheh and of Zevulun humbled themselves, and came to Yerushalayim. 12 Also on Yehudah came the hand of God to give them one heart, to do the mitzvah of the king and of the princes by the word of the LORD.13 There assembled at Yerushalayim much people to keep the feast of matzah in the second month, a very great assembly. 14 They arose and took away the altars that were in Yerushalayim, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron. 15 Then they killed the Pesach on the fourteenth [day] of the second month: and the Kohanim and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought burnt offerings into the house of the LORD. 16 They stood in their place after their order, according to the law of Moshe the man of God: the Kohanim sprinkled the blood [which they received] of the hand of the Levites. 17 For there were many in the assembly who had not sanctified themselves: therefore the Levites had the charge of killing the Pesachim for everyone who was not clean, to sanctify them to the LORD. 18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Efrayim and Menashsheh, Yissakhar and Zevulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the Pesach otherwise than it is written. For Hizkiyahu had prayed for them, saying, The good the LORD pardon everyone 19 who sets his heart to seek God, the LORD, the God of his fathers, though not [cleansed] according to the purification of the sanctuary. 20 The LORD listened to Hizkiyahu, and healed the people. 21 The children of Yisra'el who were present at Yerushalayim kept the feast of matzah seven days with great gladness; and the Levites and the Kohanim praised the LORD day by day, [singing] with loud instruments to the LORD. 22 Hizkiyahu spoke comfortably to all the Levites who had good understanding [in the service] of the LORD. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace-offerings, and making confession to the LORD, the God of their fathers. 23 The whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days; and they kept [other] seven days with gladness. 24 For Hizkiyahu king of Yehudah did give to the assembly for offerings one thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of Kohanim sanctified themselves. 25 All the assembly of Yehudah, with the Kohanim and the Levites, and all the assembly who came out of Yisra'el, and the sojourners who came out of Eretz-Yisra'el, and who lived in Yehudah, rejoiced. 26 So there was great joy in Yerushalayim; for since the time of Shlomo the son of David king of Yisra'el there was not the like in Yerushalayim. 27 Then the Kohanim the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even to heaven.

31:1 Now when all this was finished, all Yisra'el who were present went out to the cities of Yehudah, and broke in pieces the pillars, and hewed down the Asherim, and broke down the high places and the altars out of all Yehudah and Binyamin, in Efrayim also and Menashsheh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the children of Yisra'el returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities. 2 Hizkiyahu appointed the courses of the Kohanim and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, both the Kohanim and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace-offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of the LORD. 3 [He appointed] also the king's portion of his substance for the burnt-offerings, [to wit], for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the Shabbatot, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD. 4 Moreover he commanded the people who lived in Yerushalayim to give the portion of the Kohanim and the Levites, that they might give themselves to the law of the LORD. 5 As soon as the mitzvah came abroad, the children of Yisra'el gave in abundance the first fruits of grain, new wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly. 6 The children of Yisra'el and Yehudah, who lived in the cities of Yehudah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of dedicated things which were consecrated to the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps. 7 In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. 8 When Hizkiyahu and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Yisra'el. 9 Then Hizkiyahu questioned the Kohanim and the Levites concerning the heaps. 10 `Azaryah the chief Kohen, of the house of Tzadok, answered him and said, Since [the people] began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have eaten and had enough, and have left plenty: for the LORD has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store. 11 Then Hizkiyahu commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared them. 12 They brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: and over them Kananyahu the Levite was ruler, and Shim`i his brother was second. 13 Yechi'el, and `Azazyahu, and Nachat, and `Asa'el, and Yerimot, and Yozavad, and Eli'el, and Yismakhyahu, and Machat, and Benayah, were overseers under the hand of Kananyahu and Shim`i his brother, by the appointment of Hizkiyahu the king, and `Azaryah the ruler of the house of God. 14 Kore the son of Yimna the Levite, the porter at the east [gate], was over the freewill-offerings of God, to distribute the offerings of the LORD, and the most holy things. 15 Under him were `Eden, and Minyamin, and Yeshua, and Shemayah, Amaryah, and Shekhanyahu, in the cities of the Kohanim, in their office of trust, to give to their brothers by courses, as well to the great as to the small: 16 besides those who were reckoned by genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even everyone who entered into the house of the LORD, as the duty of every day required, for their service in their offices according to their courses; 17 and those who were reckoned by genealogy of the Kohanim by their fathers' houses, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their offices by their courses; 18 and those who were reckoned by genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: for in their office of trust they sanctified themselves in holiness. 19 Also for the sons of Aharon the Kohanim, who were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every city, there were men who were mentioned by name, to give portions to all the males among the Kohanim, and to all who were reckoned by genealogy among the Levites. 20 Thus did Hizkiyahu throughout all Yehudah; and he worked that which was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God. 21 In every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the mitzvot, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

NEW TESTAMENT: ROMANS 15:1 - 22

15:1 Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

2 Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up.

3 For Messiah also didn't please himself. But, as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me."

4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that through patience and through comfort of the Scriptures we might have hope.

5 Now the God of patience and of comfort grant you to be of the same mind one with another according to Messiah Yeshua,

6 that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

7  Therefore receive one another, even as Messiah also received you, to the glory of God.

8 Now I say that Messiah has been made a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers,

9 and that the Goyim might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, "Therefore will I give praise to you among the Goyim, And sing to your name."

10 Again he says, "Rejoice, you Goyim, with his people."

11 Again, "Praise the Lord, all you Goyim! Let all the peoples praise him."

12 Again, Yesha`yahu says, "There will be the root of Yishai, He who arises to rule over the Goyim; On him will the Goyim hope."

13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and shalom in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Ruach HaKodesh.

14 I myself am also persuaded about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish others.

15 But I write the more boldly to you in some measure, as putting you again in memory, because of the grace that was given to me by God,

16 that I should be a servant of Messiah Yeshua to the Goyim, serving the Good News of God, that the offering up of the Goyim might be made acceptable, being sanctified by the Ruach HaKodesh.

17 I have therefore my boasting in Messiah Yeshua in things pertaining to God.

18 For I will not dare to speak of any things except those which Messiah worked through me, for the obedience of the Goyim, by word and deed,

19 in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of God's Spirit; so that from Yerushalayim, and around as far as to Illyricum, I have fully preached the Good News of Messiah;

20 yes, making it my aim so to preach the Good News, not where Messiah was already named, that I might not build on another man's foundation.

21 But, as it is written, "They will see, to whom no news of him came. They who haven't heard will understand."

22 Therefore also I was hindered these many times from coming to you,

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
