Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

SEPTEMBER 16

PSALMS: 16, 46, 76, 106, 136

PROVERBS: 16

OLD TESTAMENT: HOSEA 4:1 - 5:15

NEW TESTAMENT: 2 JOHN 1:1 - 13

PSALMS: 16

1 Preserve me, God, for in you do I take refuge.

2 My soul, you have said to the LORD,

"You are my Lord.

Apart from you I have no good thing."

3 As for the holy ones who are in the eretz,

They are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.

4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who give gifts to another god.

Their drink-offerings of blood I will not offer,

Nor take their names on my lips.

5 The LORD assigned my portion and my cup.

You made my lot secure.

6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places.

Yes, I have a good inheritance.

7  I will bless the LORD, who has given me counsel.

Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.

8 I have set the LORD always before me.

Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices.

My body shall also dwell in safety.

10 For you will not leave my soul in She'ol,

Neither will you allow your holy one to see corruption.

11 You will show me the path of life.

In your presence is fullness of joy.

In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

PSALMS: 46

1 God is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will we not be afraid, though the eretz changes,

Though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas;

3 Though the waters of it roar and are troubled,

Though the mountains tremble with the swelling of it. Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad,

The holy place of the tents of Ha`Elyon.

5 God is in the midst of her.

She shall not be moved.

God will help her at dawn.

6 The nations raged. The kingdoms were moved.

He uttered his voice, and the eretz melted.

7  The LORD of Hosts is with us.

The God of Ya`akov is our refuge. Selah.

8 Come, see the works of the LORD,

What desolations he has made in the eretz.

9 He makes wars cease to the end of the eretz.

He breaks the bow, and cuts the spear apart.

He burns the chariots in the fire.

10 "Be still, and know that I am God.

I will be exalted among the nations.

I will be exalted in the eretz."

11 The LORD of Hosts is with us.

The God of Ya`akov is our refuge. Selah.

PSALMS: 76

1 In Yehudah, God is known.

His name is great in Yisra'el.

2 His tent is also in Shalem;

His dwelling-place in Tziyon.

3 There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow,

The shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war.

Selah.

4 Glorious are you, and excellent,

More than mountains of game.

5 Valiant men lie plundered,

They have slept their last sleep.

None of the men of war can lift their hands.

6 At your rebuke, God of Ya`akov,

Both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep.

7 You, even you, are to be feared.

Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?

8 You pronounced judgment from heaven.

The eretz feared, and was silent,

9 When God arose to judgment,

To save all the afflicted ones of the eretz. Selah.

10 Surely the wrath of man praises you.

The survivors of your wrath are restrained.

11 Make vows to the LORD your God, and fulfill them!

Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.

12 He will cut off the spirit of princes.

He is feared by the kings of the eretz.

PSALMS: 106

1 Praise the LORD!

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,

For his loving kindness endures forever.

2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD,

Or fully declare all his praise?

3 Blessed are those who keep justice,

He who does righteousness at all times.

4 Remember me, LORD, with the favor that you show to your people.

Visit me with your yeshu`ah,

5 That I may see the prosperity of your chosen,

That I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation,

That I may glory with your inheritance.

6 We have sinned with our fathers.

We have committed iniquity.

We have done wickedly.

7  Our fathers didn't understand your wonders in Mitzrayim.

They didn't remember the multitude of your loving kindnesses,

But were rebellious at the sea, even at the Sea of Suf.

8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake,

That he might make his mighty power known.

9 He rebuked the Sea of Suf also, and it was dried up;

So he led them through the depths, as through a desert.

10 He saved them from the hand of him who hated them,

And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11 The waters covered their adversaries.

There was not one of them left.

12 Then they believed his words.

They sang his praise.

13 They soon forgot his works.

They didn't wait for his counsel,

14 But gave in to craving in the desert,

And tested God in the wasteland.

15 He gave them their request,

But sent leanness into their soul.

16 They envied Moshe also in the camp,

And Aharon, the LORD's holy one.

17 The eretz opened and swallowed up Datan,

And covered the company of Aviram.

18 A fire was kindled in their company.

The flame burned up the wicked.

19 They made a calf in Horev,

And worshiped a molten image.

20 Thus they exchanged their glory

For an image of a bull that eats grass.

21 They forgot God, their Savior,

Who had done great things in Mitzrayim,

22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham,

And awesome things by the Sea of Suf.

23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them,

Had Moshe, his chosen, not stood before him in the breach,

To turn away his wrath, so that he wouldn't destroy them.

24 Yes, they despised the pleasant land.

They didn't believe his word,

25 But murmured in their tents,

And didn't listen to the voice of the LORD.

26 Therefore he swore to them

That he would overthrow them in the wilderness,

27 That he would overthrow their seed among the nations,

And scatter them in the lands.

28 They joined themselves also to Ba`al-Pe`or,

And ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their deeds.

The plague broke in on them.

30 Then Pinechas stood up, and executed judgment,

So the plague was stopped.

31 That was credited to him for righteousness,

To all generations forevermore.

32 They angered him also at the waters of Merivah,

So that Moshe was troubled for their sakes;

33 Because they were rebellious against his spirit,

He spoke rashly with his lips.

34 They didn't destroy the peoples,

As the LORD commanded them,

35 But mixed themselves with the nations,

Learned their works.

36 They served their idols,

Which became a snare to them.

37  Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.

38 They shed innocent blood,

Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters,

Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Kana`an.

The land was polluted with blood.

39 Thus were they defiled with their works,

And prostituted themselves in their deeds.

40 Therefore the wrath of the LORD was kindled against his people.

He abhorred his inheritance.

41 He gave them into the hand of the nations.

Those who hated them ruled over them.

42 Their enemies also oppressed them.

They were brought into subjection under their hand.

43 Many times he delivered them,

But they were rebellious in their counsel,

And were brought low in their iniquity.

44 Nevertheless he regarded their distress,

When he heard their cry.

45 He remembered for them his covenant,

And repented according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

46 He made them also to be pitied

By all those who carried them captive.

47 Save us, LORD, our God,

Gather us from among the nations,

To give thanks to your holy name,

To triumph in your praise!

48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Yisra'el,

From everlasting even to everlasting!

Let all the people say, ‘

"Amein.

" Praise the LORD!

PSALMS: 136

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;

For his loving kindness endures forever.

2 Give thanks to the God of gods;

For his loving kindness endures forever.

3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

4 To him who alone does great wonders;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

5 To him who by understanding made the heavens;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

6 To him who spread out the eretz above the waters;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

7  To him who made the great lights;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

8 The sun to rule by day;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

9 The moon and stars to rule by night;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

10 To him who struck down the Mitzrian firstborn;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

11 And brought out Yisra'el from among them;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

12 With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

13 To him who divided the Sea of Suf apart;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

14 Made Yisra'el to pass through the midst of it;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

15 But overthrew Par`oh and his host in the Sea of Suf;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

16 To him who led his people through the wilderness;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

17 To him who struck great kings;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

18 And killed mighty kings;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

19 Sichon king of the Amori;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

20 `Og king of Bashan;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

21 And gave their land as an inheritance;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

22 Even a heritage to Yisra'el his servant;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

23 Who remembered us in our low estate;

For his loving kindness endures forever;

24 And has delivered us from our adversaries;

For his loving kindness endures forever:

25 Who gives food to every creature;

For his loving kindness endures forever.

26 Oh give thanks to the God of heaven;

For his loving kindness endures forever.

PROVERBS: 16

1 The plans of the heart belong to man,

But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.

2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes;

But the LORD weighs the motives.

3 Commit your deeds to the LORD,

And your plans shall succeed.

4 The LORD has made everything for its own end --

Yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.

5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD:

They shall assuredly not be unpunished.

6 By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for.

By the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

7 When a man's ways please the LORD,

He makes even his enemies to be at shalom with him.

8 Better is a little with righteousness,

Than great revenues with injustice.

9 A man's heart plans his course,

But the LORD directs his steps.

10 Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king.

He shall not betray his mouth.

11 Honest balances and scales are the LORD's;

All the weights in the bag are his work.

12 It is an abomination for kings to do wrong,

For the throne is established by righteousness.

13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings.

They value one who speaks the truth.

14 The king's wrath is a messenger of death,

But a wise man will pacify it.

15 In the light of the king's face is life.

His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.

16 How much better it is to get wisdom than gold!

Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

17  The highway of the upright is to depart from evil.

He who keeps his way preserves his soul.

18 Pride goes before destruction,

A haughty spirit before a fall.

19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor,

Than to divide the plunder with the proud.

20 He who gives heed to the Word finds prosperity.

Whoever trusts in the LORD is blessed.

21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent.

Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.

22 Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it,

But the punishment of fools is their folly.

23 The heart of the wise instructs his mouth,

And adds learning to his lips.

24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb,

Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

25 There is a way which seems right to a man,

But in the end it leads to death.

26 The appetite of the laboring man labors for him;

For his mouth urges him on.

27 A worthless man devises mischief.

His speech is like a scorching fire.

28 A perverse man stirs up strife.

A whisperer separates close friends.

29 A man of violence entices his neighbor,

And leads him in a way that is not good.

30 One who winks his eyes to plot perversities,

One who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.

31 Gray hair is a crown of glory.

It is attained by a life of righteousness.

32 One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty;

One who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.

33 The lot is cast into the lap,

But its every decision is from the LORD.

OLD TESTAMENT: HOSEA 4:1 - 5:15

4:1 Hear the word of the LORD, you children of Yisra'el; For the LORD has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: "Indeed there is no truth, Nor goodness, Nor knowledge of God in the land. 2 There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; They break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed. 3 Therefore the land will mourn, And everyone who dwells therein will waste away. All living things in her, Even the animals of the field and the birds of the sky; Yes, the fish of the sea also die. 4 "Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse; For your people are like those who bring charges against a Kohen. 5 You will stumble in the day, And the prophet will also stumble with you in the night; And I will destroy your mother. 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, That you may be no Kohen to me. Because you have your God's law, I will also forget your children. 7 As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will change their glory into shame. 8 They feed on the sin of my people, And set their heart on their iniquity. 9 It will be, like people, like Kohen; And I will punish them for their ways, And will repay them for their deeds. 10 They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the prostitute, and will not increase; Because they have abandoned giving to the LORD. 11 Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding. 12 My people consult with their wooded idol, And answer to a stick of wood. Indeed the spirit of prostitution has led them astray, And they have been unfaithful to their God. 13 They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, And burn incense on the hills, under oaks and poplars and terebinths, Because its shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the prostitute, And your brides commit adultery. 14 I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute, Nor your brides when they commit adultery; Because the men consort with prostitutes, And they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; And the people that does not understand will come to ruin. 15 "Though you, Yisra'el, play the prostitute, Yet don't let Yehudah offend; And don't come to Gilgal, Neither go up to Beit-Aven, Nor swear, 'As the LORD lives.' 16 For Yisra'el has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. Then how will the LORD feed them like a lamb in a meadow. 17 Efrayim is joined to idols. Leave him alone! 18 Their drink has become sour. They play the prostitute continually. Her rulers dearly love their shameful way. 19 The wind has wrapped her up in its wings; And they shall be put to shame because of their sacrifices.

5:1 "Listen to this, you Kohanim! Listen, house of Yisra'el, And give ear, house of the king! For the judgment is against you; For you have been a snare at Mitzpah, And a net spread on Tavor. 2 The rebels are deep in slaughter; But I discipline all of them. 3 I know Efrayim, And Yisra'el is not hidden from me; For now, Efrayim, you have played the prostitute. Yisra'el is defiled. 4 Their deeds won't allow them to turn to their God; For the spirit of prostitution is within them, And they don't know the LORD. 5 The pride of Yisra'el testifies to his face. Therefore Yisra'el and Efrayim will stumble in their iniquity. Yehudah also will stumble with them. 6 They will go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; But they won't find him. He has withdrawn himself from them. 7 They are unfaithful to the LORD; For they have borne illegitimate children. Now the new moon will devour them with their fields. 8"Blow the cornet in Gevah, And the shofar in Ramah! Sound a battle cry at Beit-Aven, behind you, Binyamin! 9 Efrayim will become a desolation in the day of rebuke. Among the tribes of Yisra'el, I have made known that which will surely be. 10 The princes of Yehudah are like those who remove a landmark. I will pour out my wrath on them like water. 11 Efrayim is oppressed, He is crushed in judgment; Because he is intent in his pursuit of idols. 12 Therefore I am to Efrayim like a moth, And to the house of Yehudah like rottenness. 13 When Efrayim saw his sickness, And Yehudah his wound, Then Efrayim went to Ashshur, And sent to king Yarev: But he is not able to heal you, Neither will he cure you of your wound. 14 For I will be to Efrayim like a lion, And like a young lion to the house of Yehudah. I myself will tear in pieces and go away. I will carry off, and there will be no one to deliver. 15 I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their offense, And seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me earnestly."

NEW TESTAMENT: 2 JOHN 1:1 - 13

1 The elder, to the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all those who know the truth;

2 for the truth's sake, which remains in us, and it will be with us forever:

3 Grace, mercy, and shalom will be with us, from God the Father, and from the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

4 I rejoice greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, even as we have been commanded by the Father.

5 Now I beg you, dear lady, not as though I wrote to you a new mitzvah, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

6 This is love, that we should walk according to his mitzvot. This is the mitzvah, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.

7  For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don't confess that Yeshua the Messiah came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Anti-messiah.

8 Watch yourselves, that we don't lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward.

9 Whoever transgresses and doesn't remain in the teaching of Messiah, doesn't have God. He who remains in the teaching, the same has both the Father and the Son.

10 If anyone comes to you, and doesn't bring this teaching, don't receive him into your house, and don't welcome him,

11 for he who welcomes him participates in his evil works.

12 Having many things to write to you, I don't want to do so with paper and ink, but I hope to come to you, and to speak face to face, that our joy may be made full.

13 The children of your chosen sister greet you. Amein.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
