PSALMS
Psalms 6
1 LORD, don't rebuke me in your anger, Neither discipline me in your wrath.
2 Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint. LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
3 My soul is also in great anguish. But you, LORD -- how long?
4 Return, LORD. Deliver my soul, And save me for your lovingkindness' sake.
5 For in death there is no memory of you. In She'ol, who shall give you thanks?
6 I am weary with my groaning; Every night I flood my bed; I drench my couch with my tears.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my adversaries.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
9 The LORD has heard my supplication. The LORD will receive my prayer.
10 May all my enemies be ashamed and dismayed. They shall turn back, they shall be disgraced suddenly.
Psalms 36
1 An oracle is within my heart about the disobedience of the wicked: "There is no fear of God before his eyes."
2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes, Too much to detect and hate his sin.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
4 He plots iniquity on his bed. He sets himself in a way that is not good; He doesn't abhor evil.
5 Your lovingkindness, LORD, is in the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God. Your judgments are a great deep. LORD, you preserve man and animal.
7 How precious is your lovingkindness, God! The children of men take refuge under the shadow of your wings.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the abundance of your house. You will make them drink of the river of your pleasures.
9 For with you is the spring of life. In your light shall we see light.
10 Oh continue your lovingkindness to those who know you, Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Don't let the foot of pride come against me. Don't let the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the workers of iniquity are fallen. They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
Psalms 66
1 Make a joyful noise to God, all the eretz!
2 Sing to the glory of his name! Offer glory and praise!
3 Tell God, "How awesome are your deeds! Through the greatness of your power, Your enemies will submit themselves to you.
4 All the eretz will worship you, And will sing to you; They will sing to your name." Selah.
5 Come, and see God's deeds -- Awesome work on behalf of the children of men.
6 He turned the sea into dry land. They went through the river on foot. There, we rejoiced in him.
7 He rules by his might forever. His eyes watch the nations. Don't let the rebellious rise up against him. Selah.
8 Praise our God, you peoples! Make the sound of his praise heard,
9 Who preserves our life among the living, And doesn't allow our feet to be moved.
10 For you, God, have tested us. You have refined us, as silver is refined.
11 You brought us into prison. You laid a burden on our backs.
12 You allowed men to ride over our heads. We went through fire and through water, But you brought us to the place of abundance.
13 I will come into your temple with burnt offerings. I will pay my vows to you,
14 which my lips promised, And my mouth spoke, when I was in distress.
15 I will offer to you burnt offerings of fat animals, With the offering of rams, I will offer bulls with goats. Selah.
16 Come, and hear, all you who fear God. I will declare what he has done for my soul.
17 I cried to him with my mouth. He was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I cherished sin in my heart, The Lord wouldn't have listened.
19 But most assuredly, God has listened. He has heard the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, Nor his lovingkindness from me.
Psalms 96
1 Sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the eretz.
2 Sing to the LORD! Bless his name. Proclaim his yeshu`ah from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples.
4 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised! He is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the LORD made the heavens.
6 Honor and majesty are before him. Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
7 Ascribe to the LORD, you families of nations, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come into his courts.
9 Worship the LORD in holy array. Tremble before him, all the eretz.
10 Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns." The world is also established. It can't be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity.
11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the eretz rejoice. Let the sea roar, and the fullness of it!
12 Let the field exult, and all that is therein. Then shall all the trees of the wood sing for joy
13 Before the LORD; for he comes, For he comes to judge the eretz. He will judge the world with righteousness, The peoples with his truth.
Psalms 126
1 When the LORD brought back those who returned to Tziyon, We were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then said they among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."
3 The LORD has done great things for us, And we are glad.
4 Restore our fortunes again, LORD, Like the streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow in tears will reap in joy.
6 He who goes out weeping, carrying seed for sowing, Will assuredly come again with joy, carrying his sheaves.
PROVERBS
Proverbs 6
1 My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, If you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger;
2 You are trapped by the words of your mouth. You are ensnared with the words of your mouth.
3 Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, Seeing you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself. Press your plea with your neighbor.
4 Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids.
5 Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, Like a bird from the snare of the fowler.
6 Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise;
7 Which having no chief, Overseer, or ruler,
8 Provides her bread in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.
9 How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 So your poverty will come as a robber, And your scarcity as an armed man.
12 A worthless person, a man of iniquity, Is he who walks with a perverse mouth;
13 Who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, Who motions with his fingers;
14 In whose heart is perverseness, Who devises evil continually, Who always sows discord.
15 Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy.
16 There are six things which the LORD hates; Yes, seven which are an abomination to him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood;
18 A heart that devises wicked schemes, Feet that are swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness who utters lies, And he who sows discord among brothers.
20 My son, keep your father's mitzvah, And don't forsake your mother's teaching.
21 Bind them continually on your heart. Tie them around your neck.
22 When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.
23 For the mitzvah is a lamp, And the law is light. Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
24 To keep you from the immoral woman, From the flattery of the wayward wife's tongue.
25 Don't lust after her beauty in your heart, Neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
26 For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap, And his clothes not be burned?
28 Or can one walk on hot coals, And his feet not be scorched?
29 So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.
30 Men don't despise a thief, If he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry:
31 But if he be found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.
32 He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
33 He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.
34 For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won't spare in the day of vengeance.
35 He won't regard any ransom, Neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.
