PSALMS: 11
1 In the LORD do I take refuge.
How can you say to my soul,
"Flee as a bird to your mountain!"
2 For, behold, the wicked bend their bows.
They set their arrows on the strings,
That they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations are destroyed,
What can the righteous do?
4 The LORD is in his holy temple.
The LORD is on his throne in heaven.
His eyes observe.
His eyes examine the children of men.
5 The LORD examines the righteous,
But the wicked and him who loves violence his soul hates.
6 On the wicked he will rain blazing coals;
Fire, sulfur, and scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the LORD is righteous.
He loves righteousness.
The upright shall see his face.
PSALMS: 41
1 Blessed is he who considers the poor:
The LORD will deliver him in the day of evil.
2 The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive,
He shall be blessed on the eretz,
And he will not surrender him to the will of his enemies.
3 The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed,
And restore him from his bed of illness.
4 I said, "LORD, have mercy on me.
Heal me, for I have sinned against you."
5 My enemies speak evil against me:
"When will he die, and his name perish?"
6 If he come to see me, he speaks falsehood.
His heart gathers iniquity to itself.
When he goes abroad, he tells it.
7 All who hate me whisper together against me.
They imagine the worst for me.
8 "An evil disease," they say, "has afflicted him.
Now that he lies he shall rise up no more."
9 Yes, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted,
Who ate bread with me,
Has lifted up his heel against me.
10 But you, LORD, have mercy on me, and raise me up,
That I may repay them.
11 By this I know that you delight in me,
Because my enemy doesn't triumph over me.
12 As for me, you uphold me in my integrity,
And set me in your presence forever.
13 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Yisra'el,
From everlasting and to everlasting! Amein and amein.
PSALMS: 71
1 In you, LORD, I take refuge.
Never let me be put to shame.
2 Deliver me in your righteousness, and rescue me.
Turn your ear to me, and save me.
3 Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may always go.
Give the command to save me,
For you are my rock and my fortress.
4 Rescue me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
From the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
5 For you are my hope, Lord GOD;
My confidence from my youth.
6 I have relied on you from the womb.
You are he who took me out of my mother's womb.
I will always praise you.
7 I am a marvel to many,
But you are my strong refuge.
8 My mouth shall be filled with your praise,
With your honor all the day.
9 Don't reject me in my old age.
Don't forsake me when my strength fails.
10 For my enemies talk about me.
Those who watch for my soul conspire together,
11 Saying, "God has forsaken him.
Pursue and take him, for no one will rescue him."
12 God, don't be far from me.
My God, hurry to help me.
13 Let my accusers be put to shame and consumed.
Let them be covered with disgrace and scorn who want to harm me.
14 But I will always hope,
And will add to all of your praise.
15 My mouth will tell about your righteousness,
And of your salvation all day,
Though I don't know its full measure.
16 I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord GOD.
I will make mention of your righteousness, even of yours alone.
17 God, you have taught me from my youth.
Until now, I have declared your wondrous works.
18 Yes, even when I am old and gray-headed,
God, don't forsake me,
Until I have declared your strength to the next generation,
Your might to everyone who is to come.
19 Your righteousness also, God, reaches to the heavens;
You who have done great things.
God, who is like you?
20 You, who have shown us many and bitter troubles,
You will let me live.
You will bring us up again from the depths of the eretz.
21 Increase my honor, And comfort me again.
22 I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God.
I sing praises to you with the lyre,
Holy One of Yisra'el.
23 My lips shall shout for joy!
My soul, which you have redeemed, sings praises to you!
24 My tongue will also talk about your righteousness all day long,
For they are put to shame, and they are confounded,
who want to harm me.
PSALMS: 101
1 I will sing of loving kindness and justice.
To you, LORD, I will sing praises.
2 I will be careful to live a blameless life.
When will you come to me?
I will walk within my house with a blameless heart.
3 I will set no vile thing before my eyes.
I hate the deeds of faithless men.
They will not cling to me.
4 A perverse heart will be far from me.
I will have nothing to do with evil.
5 I will silence whoever secretly slanders his neighbor.
I won't tolerate one who is haughty and conceited.
6 My eyes will be on the faithful of the land,
That they may dwell with me.
He who walks in a perfect way, He will serve me.
7 He who practices deceit won't dwell within my house.
He who speaks falsehood won't be established before my eyes.
8 Morning by morning, I will destroy all the wicked of the land;
To cut off all the workers of iniquity from the LORD's city.
PSALMS: 131
1 LORD, my heart isn't haughty, nor my eyes lofty;
Neither do I concern myself with great matters,
Or things too wonderful for me.
2 Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul,
Like a weaned child with his mother,
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 Yisra'el, hope in the LORD,
From this time forth and forevermore.
PROVERBS: 11
1 A false balance is an abomination to the LORD,
But accurate weights are his delight.
2 When pride comes, then comes shame,
But with humility comes wisdom.
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them,
But the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them.
4 Riches don't profit in the day of wrath,
But righteousness delivers from death.
5 The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way,
But the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them,
But the unfaithful will be trapped by evil desires.
7 When a wicked man dies, hope perishes,
And expectation of power comes to nothing.
8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble,
And the wicked takes his place.
9 With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor,
But the righteous will be delivered through knowledge.
10 When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices.
When the wicked perish, there is shouting.
11 By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted,
But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
12 One who despises his neighbor is void of wisdom,
But a man of understanding holds his shalom.
13 One who brings gossip betrays a confidence,
But one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret.
14 Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls,
But in the multitude of counselors there is victory.
15 He who is collateral for a stranger will suffer for it,
But he who refuses pledges of collateral is secure.
16 A gracious woman obtains honor,
But violent men obtain riches.
17 The merciful man does good to his own soul,
But he who is cruel troubles his own flesh.
18 The wicked earns deceitful wages,
But he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
19 He who is truly righteous gets life.
He who pursues evil gets death.
20 Those who are perverse in heart are an abomination to the LORD,
But those whose ways are blameless are his delight.
21 Most assuredly, the evil man will not be unpunished,
But the seed of the righteous will be delivered.
22 Like a gold ring in a pig's snout,
Is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.
23 The desire of the righteous is only good.
The expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 There is one who scatters, and increases yet more.
There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty.
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat.
He who waters shall be watered also himself.
26 He who withholds grain, the people will curse him,
But blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.
27 He who diligently seeks good seeks favor,
But he who searches after evil, it shall come to him.
28 He who trusts in his riches will fall,
But the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.
29 He who troubles his own house shall inherit the wind.
The foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.
He who is wise wins souls.
31 Behold, the righteous shall be repaid in the eretz;
How much more the wicked and the sinner!
OLD TESTAMENT: 2 SAMUEL 17:1 - 29
17:1 Moreover Achitofel said to Avshalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:
2 and I will come on him while he is weary and weak-handed, and will make him afraid; and all the people who are with him shall flee; and I will strike the king only;
3 and I will bring back all the people to you: the man whom you seek is as if all returned: [so] all the people shall be in shalom.
4 The saying pleased Avshalom well, and all the Zakenim of Yisra'el.
5 Then said Avshalom, Call now Hushai the Arki also, and let us hear likewise what he says.
6 When Hushai was come to Avshalom, Avshalom spoke to him, saying, Achitofel has spoken after this manner: shall we do [after] his saying? if not, speak up.
7 Hushai said to Avshalom, The counsel that Achitofel has given this time is not good.
8 Hushai said moreover, You know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are fierce in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field; and your father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
9 Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some [other] place: and it will happen, when some of them are fallen at the first, that whoever hears it will say, There is a slaughter among the people who follow Avshalom.
10 Even he who is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, will utterly melt; for all Yisra'el knows that your father is a mighty man, and those who are with him are valiant men.
11 But I counsel that all Yisra'el be gathered together to you, from Dan even to Be'er-Sheva, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that you go to battle in your own person.
12 So shall we come on him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light on him as the dew falls on the ground; and of him and of all the men who are with him we will not leave so much as one.
13 Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Yisra'el bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there not be one small stone found there.
14 Avshalom and all the men of Yisra'el said, The counsel of Hushai the Arki is better than the counsel of Achitofel. For the LORD had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Achitofel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil on Avshalom.
15 Then said Hushai to Tzadok and to Avyatar the Kohanim, Thus and thus did Achitofel counsel Avshalom and the Zakenim of Yisra'el; and thus and thus have I counseled.
16 Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, Don't lodge this night at the fords of the wilderness, but by all means pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people who are with him.
17 Now Yonatan and Achima`atz were staying by `En-Rogel; and a maid-servant used to go and tell them; and they went and told king David: for they might not be seen to come into the city.
18 But a boy saw them, and told Avshalom: and they went both of them away quickly, and came to the house of a man in Bachurim, who had a well in his court; and they went down there.
19 The woman took and spread the covering over the well's mouth, and strewed bruised grain thereon; and nothing was known.
20 Avshalom's servants came to the woman to the house; and they said, Where are Achima`atz and Yonatan? The woman said to them, They have gone over the brook of water. When they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Yerushalayim.
21 It happened, after they had departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David; and they said to David, Arise you, and pass quickly over the water; for thus has Achitofel counseled against you.
22 Then David arose, and all the people who were with him, and they passed over the Yarden: by the morning light there lacked not one of them who had not gone over the Yarden.
23 When Achitofel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey, and arose, and got him home, to his city, and set his house in order, and hanged himself; and he died, and was buried in the tomb of his father.
24 Then David came to Machanayim. Avshalom passed over the Yarden, he and all the men of Yisra'el with him.
25 Avshalom set `Amasa over the host instead of Yo'av. Now `Amasa was the son of a man, whose name was Yitra the Yisra'elite, who went in to Avigayil the daughter of Nachash, sister to Tzeru'yah, Yo'av's mother.
26 Yisra'el and Avshalom encamped in the land of Gil`ad.
27 It happened, when David was come to Machanayim, that Shovi the son of Nachash of Rabbah of the children of `Ammon, and Makhir the son of `Ammi'el of Lodebar, and Barzillai the Gil`adite of Roglim,
28 brought beds, and basins, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and meal, and parched [grain], and beans, and lentils, and parched [pulse],
29 and honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of the herd, for David, and for the people who were with him, to eat: for they said, The people are hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.
NEW TESTAMENT: JOHN 19:23 - 42
19:23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Yeshua, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the coat. Now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24 Then they said to one another, "Let's not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it will be," that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, "They parted my garments among them. For my cloak they cast lots." Therefore the soldiers did these things.
25 But there were standing by the cross of Yeshua his mother, and his mother's sister, Miryam the wife of Klofah, and Miryam from Magdala.
26 Therefore when Yeshua saw his mother, and the talmid whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold your son!"
27 Then he said to the talmid, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour, the talmid took her to his own home.
28 After this, Yeshua, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I am thirsty."
29 Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and brought it to his mouth.
30 When Yeshua therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished." He bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.
31 Therefore the Yehudim, because it was the Preparation, so that the bodies wouldn't remain on the cross on the Shabbat (for that Shabbat was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 Therefore the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him;
33 but when they came to Yeshua, and saw that he was already dead, they didn't break his legs.
34 However one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35 He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.
36 For these things happened, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, "A bone of him will not be broken."
37 Again another Scripture says, "They will look on him whom they pierced."
38 After these things, Yosef of Ramatayim, being a talmid of Yeshua, but secretly for fear of the Yehudim, asked of Pilate that he might take away Yeshua' body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.
39 Nakdimon also came, he who at first came to Yeshua by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds.
40 So they took Yeshua' body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Yehudim is to bury.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid.
42 Then because of the Yehudim' Preparation (for the tomb was near at hand) they laid Yeshua there.

איך תאמר לנפשי: "כצפור ברח אל הרך!"
2 כי הנה רשעים כורעים קשתות.
חיציהם על מיתרים יתאימו,
למען יורים בחושך בישרי לב.
3 אם יסודות יהרסו,
מה יעשו צדיקים?
4 ה' בהיכל קדשו.
ה' על כסאו בשמים.
עיניו משגיחות.
עיניו בוחנות בני אדם. ה' בוחן צדיקים,
וְרָשָׁע וְאָהֵב חָמָס שְׁנָאֵה נַפְשׁוֹ.
6 על רשעים יְמָטִיר גחלים לוהטות;
אש, גּוֹפְרִית וְרוּחַ חֹרֶף יִהְיֶה כְּפָלָם.
7 כי צדיק ה'.
אוהב צדק.
ישרים יראו פניו.

ה' יַצִּילֵנוּ בְּיוֹם רָעָה.

כי יצא ויגיד.
7 כל שונאי לוחשים עלי יחד.
הם מדמיינים לי את הגרוע מכל.
8 "מחלת רעה", הם אומרים, "נגעה בו.
כעת משקר לא יקום עוד."
9 כן, ידידי המוכר, אשר בטחתי בו,
אשר אכל עמי לחם,
הרים עליי עקבו.
10 ואתה ה' רחמני והקימני,
למען אשלם להם.
11 בזאת אדע כי חפצת בי,
כי אויבי לא יגבר עליי.
12 ואני, בתמימותי אתה תומך אותי,
ותציב אותי לפניך לנצח. יג ברוך ה' אלוהי ישראל,

1 בך ה' חסיתי,
לעולם אל תחשיב אותי.
2 בצדקתך הצילני והושיעני.
הטה אזנך אלי והושיעני.
3 היה לי צור מחסה אלך שם תמיד.
צוה להושיעני,
כי אתה צורי ומבצרי.
4 הצילני אלוהי מיד רשעים,
מיד איש עול ואכזר.
5 כי אתה תקוותי ה' יהוה,
מבטחי מנעורי.
6 עליך בטחתי מרחם,
אתה הוצאתני מרחם אמי,
תמיד אודה לך. 7 פלא אני לרבים,
ואתה מחסי.
8 פי ימלא תהלתך,
כבודך כל היום.
9 אל תדחני בזקנתי.
אל תעזבני כי ירדפו כוחי.
10 כי אויבי מדברים עליי.
שומרי נפשי קשרו יחד,
11 לומר: "עזבנו אלהים.
רדפו ותפסו אותו, כי אין מצילנו."
12 אלוהים, אל תרחק ממני.
אלוהיי, מהר לעזרני.
13 יבושימו ויכלו מתוכחיי.
יבזו וחרפה יכסו את רוצי רעעני.
14 אך אני תמיד אקוות,
ואוסיף על כל תהלתך.
15 פי יספר צדקתך,
וישועתך כל היום,
ולא ידעתי את מידתה.
16 אבוא בגבורות אדוני יהוה.
אזכיר צדקתך, רק שלך.
17 אלוהים, לימדתני מנעורי.
עד עכשיו הגידתי נפלאותיך.
18 גם כי זקנתי ואאפירה,
אל תעזבני אלוהים,
עד אשר אגדיר כוחך לדור הבא,
גבורתך לכל הבא.
19 צדקתך, אלוהים, מגיעה עד השמים;
אתה אשר עשית גדלות.
אלוהים, מי כמוך?
20 אתה אשר הראת לנו צרות רבות ומרות,
תחייני.
ממעמקים ארץ תעלינו. 21 הרבתי כבודי, ונחמני שוב.
22 ואודה לך בנבל על אמונתך, אלוהי. אשיר לך בנבל, קדוש ישראל.
23 שפתיי ירננו! נפשי אשר גאלת, תשיר לך!
24 וגם לשוני תדבר צדקתך כל היום,
כי בושה ונכלמו,
הרוצים רעע לי.
תהילים: 101
1 אשיר חסד ומשפט. לך ה' אזמר.
2 אשמור לחיות חיים תמימים. מתי תבוא אלי? אלך בביתי בלב תמים.
3 לא אשים דבר נבלה לנגד עיני. אני שונא מעשי כופרים. לא ידבקו בי.
4 לב מעוות ירחק ממני. לא יהיה לי קשר לרע.
5 אשתיק את כל אשר יגבה רעהו בסתר. לא אסבול יהיר ויהיר.
6 עיני יהיו על נאמני הארץ,
למען ישכנו עמי. ההולך בדרך תמימה, הוא יעבודני. 7 לא ישב מרמה בביתי. לא יקום נגד עיני דבר שקר.
ח בוקר בבוקר אשמיד את כל רשעי הארץ;
להכרית את כל פועלי עוולות מעיר ה'.
תהילים: קל"א
1 ה', לא גבה לבי, ולא גבה עיניי;
ולא אעסוק בדברים גדולים,
ופלאים ממני.
ב אם כן השקיטתי והשקטתי את נפשי,
כגמול עם אמו,
כגמול נפשי בקרבי.
3 ישראל, קוה לה',
מעתה ועד עולם.
משלי: יא
1 תועבת יהוה מאזניים כוזבים,
ומשקלים מדויקים חפצו.
2 כי בא גאווה, ובושה,
ועם ענווה חכמה.
3 תמימות ישרים תנחה אותם,
והעוולה של בוגדים תשמידם.
4 לא יועיל עושר ביום זעם,
וצדקה תציל ממוות.
5 צדקת תם תכוון את דרכו,
ורשע ייפול ברשעתו.
6 צדקת ישרים תצילם,
ובוגדים ילכדו בתאוות רעות.
7 כי מות רשע, אבדה תקווה,
והתקוות לכוח תיפגע.
8 צדיק ניצל מצרה,
ורשע תופס את מקומו.
9 בפיו רשע משמיד את רעהו,
וצדיקה ידעת.
10 בטוב לצדיקים, העיר שמחה.
בכי רשעים תרועה.
11 בברכת ישרים, עיר נשאה,
ובפי רשעים היא נהרסה.
12 בוז לרעך חסר חוכמה,
ואיש בינה ישמור שלום.
13 רכיל יבגוד סוד,
וברוח נאמן שומר סוד.
14 באין הדרכה חכמה, גוי נופל,
וברבות יועצים ישועה.
15 ערבון לזר יסבול,
ובמסרב ערבונות בטוח.
16 אישה חן תזכה לכבוד,
ואנשי אלים יזכו לעושר.
17 איש רחום יעשה טוב לנפשו,
ואכזר ירעיל בשרו.
18 רשע ירוויח שכר מרמה,
והזורע צדק יקצור שכר ודאי.
19 צדיק באמת יחיה.
רודף רע מות.
20 עוקבי לב תועבה לה',
והתמימים דרכיו חפצו.
21 אכן, לא יינקה איש רע,
וזרע צדיקים ינצל.
22 כטבעת זהב בחוטם חזיר,
אשה יפה חסרת דעת.
23 תשוקת צדיקים היא רק טובה.
ציפיית רשעים היא זעם.
24 יש מי שמפזר, ומגדיל עוד יותר.
יש מי שעוצר יותר מהראוי, ורוצה.
25 נפש נדיבה תשמין.
המשקה ישקה גם הוא.
26 מעכב תבואה, העם יקלל אותו,
וברכה תהיה על ראש מוכרו.
27 מחפש טוב מחפש חן,
ומחפש רע, הוא יבוא אליו.
28 בוטח בעושרו ייפול,
והצדיק יפרח כעלה ירוק.
29 הרע ביתו יירש רוח.
כסיל יהיה עבד לחכמי לב.
30 פרי צדיק עץ חיים.
החכם זוכה נפשות.
31 הנה צדיק יגמול בארץ;
מה עוד לרשע ולחוטא!
הברית הישנה: שמואל ב' י"ז:1-29
י"ז:1 ויאמר אחיתופל אל אבשלום, אבחר נא שנים עשר אלף איש, ואקום וארדוף אחרי דוד הלילה הזה:
2 ואבוא עליו כשהוא עייף ורפה ידיים, ואפחיד אותו, וכל העם אשר עמו ינוסו, ואכה את המלך לבדו:
3 ואחזיר את כל העם אליך, האיש אשר אתה מחפש כאילו כולם שבו, [ו]כל העם יהיה בשלום.
4 הדבר היה טוב בעיני אבשלום, ובעיניו של כל זקני ישראל.
5 ויאמר אבשלום, קרא נא גם לחושי הארקי, ונשמע גם את אשר דברו. ו ויבא חושי אל אבשלום ויאמר אליו אבשלום לאמר: כדבר הזה דיבר אחיתופל: האם נעשה כדברו? אם לא, דבר.
ז ויאמר חושי אל אבשלום: לא טובה העצה אשר נתן אחיתופל הפעם.
ח ויאמר חושי: ידעת את אביך ואת אנשיו כי גיבורים הם, ורעי לבם כדובה שגזלה גוריה בשדה; ואביך איש מלחמה הוא, ולא ילון עם העם.
ט הנה הוא מתחבא עכשיו באיזה בור, או באיזה מקום; והיה, כאשר יפלו מהם בראשונה, וכל השומע יאמר: טבח בעם אשר אחרי אבשלום.
י גם הגיבור, אשר לבו כלב אריה, יימס; כי כל ישראל ידע כי גבור אביך, ואשר עמו אנשי חיל.
11 ואני יועץ כי ייאסף אליך כל ישראל מדן ועד באר שבע כחול אשר על הים לרוב, ולך למלחמה בעצמך.
12 ונבוא עליו במקום אשר יימצא, ונפל עליו כטל על הארץ, ולא נותיר ממנו ומכל האנשים אשר עמו אפילו אחד.
13 ואם יבקע בעיר, והביאו כל ישראל חבלים אל העיר ההיא, ונמשכה אל הנהר, עד שלא תימצא שם אבן קטנה אחת.
14 ויאמר אבשלום וכל אנשי ישראל, טובה עצת חושאי הארקי מעצת אחיתופל. כי ה' צוה להרוס את עצת אחיתופל הטובה למען יביא ה' רעה על אבשלום.
טו ויאמר חושי אל צדוק ואל אביתר הכהנים כה וכה יעץ אחיתופל לאבשלום ולזקני ישראל וככה וככה יעצתי.
טז ועתה שלחו מהרה והגידו לדוד לאמר אל תילנו הלילה במעברות המדבר כי עברו פן יבול המלך וכל העם אשר עמו.
יז ויונתן ואחימאץ היו בעין רוגל ושפחה הלכה והגידה להם ותלכו והגידו למלך לדוד כי לא יראו אותם בבוא העיר. יח וירא אותם נער ויגד לאבשלום וילכו שניהם מהר ויבאו אל בית איש בבחורים אשר באר בחצרו וירדו שם.
יט ותקח האישה ותפרש את הסככה על פי הבאר ותזרה עליו גרגרים ולא נודע דבר.
20 ויבאו עבדי אבשלום אל האישה אל הבית ויאמרו איה אחימעץ ויהונתן ותאמר להם האישה עברו את נחל המים ויבקשו ולא מצאו וישובו ירושלים.
21 ויהי אחרי צאתם ויעלו מן הבאר וילכו ויגידו למלך דוד ויאמרו לדוד קום ועבר מהר את המים כי כה יעץ אחיתופל עליך. 22 ויקם דוד וכל העם אשר עמו ויעברו את הירדן עד אור הבוקר לא חסר מהם אחד אשר לא עבר את הירדן.
23 וירא אחיתופל כי לא נעשתה עצתו ויתחבש את חמורו ויקם וילך הביתה לעירו וסדר את ביתו ויתלה וימת וייקבר בקבר אביו.
24 ויבא דוד מחניים ואבשלום עבר את הירדן הוא וכל אנשי ישראל עמו.
25 ויתן אבשלום את עמשא על הצבא תחת יואב ועמשא בן איש ושמו יתרא הישראלי אשר בא אל אביגיל בת נחש אחות צרויה אמו של יואב. 26 ישראל ואבשלום חנו בארץ גלעד.
27 ויהי כי בא דוד מחניים ושובי בן נחש מרבה מבני עמון ומכיר בן עמיאל מלדבר וברזלי הגלעדי מרגלים.
28 הביאו משכבות ומזרקים וכלי חרס וחיטה ושעורה וקמח וצרוב ופול ועדשים וצרוב.
29 ודבש, וחמאה, וצאן וגבינה מן הבקר, לדוד ולאנשים אשר עמו, לאכלה: כי אמרו: העם רעב, עייף וצמא במדבר.

19:23 ואז צלבו החיילים את ישוע, לקחו את בגדיו וערכו ארבעה חלקים, לכל חייל חלק; וגם את הכתונת. והכתונת הייתה ללא תפר, ארוגה מלמעלה לכל אורכה.
24 אז אמרו זה לזה: "אל נקרע אותה, אלא נטיל גורל עליה, למי היא תהיה", למען יתקיים הכתוב, שנאמר: "חילקו את בגדיי ביניהם, על גלימתי הטילו גורל". לכן עשו החיילים את הדברים האלה.
25 אבל ליד צלב ישוע אמו ואחות אמו עמדו מרים אשת קלופה ומרים ממגדל.
26 כאשר ראה ישוע את אמו ואת התלמיד אשר אהב עומד שם, אמר לאמו: "אישה, הנה בנך!"
27 ויאמר לתלמיד: "הנה אמך!" מאותה שעה לקח אותה התלמיד לביתו.
28 לאחר מכן, כשראה ישוע כי כבר נשלם הכל, כדי שיתקיים הכתוב, אמר: "אני צמא".
29 כלי מלא חומץ היה מונח שם, וישמו ספוג מלא חומץ על אזוב והביאו אותו לפיו.
30 כאשר קיבל ישוע את החומץ, אמר: "נשלם!" הוא כרע את ראשו וירד בנשמתו.
31 היהודים, משום שהיה זה יום ההכנה, כדי שלא יישארו הגופות על הצלב בשבת (כי שבת זו הייתה שבת מיוחדת), ביקשו מפילטוס שישברו את רגליהם וייקחו אותן. 32 לכן באו החיילים ושברו את רגלי הראשון ואת רגלי השני שנצלב עמו;
33 אך כאשר באו אל ישוע וראו שהוא כבר מת, לא שברו את רגליו.
34 אך אחד החיילים דקר את צידו בחנית, ומיד יצאו דם ומים.
35 מי שראה העיד, ועדותו אמת. הוא יודע שהוא אומר אמת, למען תאמינו.
36 כי הדברים האלה קרו, כדי שיתקיים הכתוב: "עצם בו לא תישבר".
37 וכתוב אחר אומר: "יסתכלו על מי שדקרו".
38 לאחר הדברים האלה, יוסף הרמתיים, שהיה תלמיד של ישוע, אך בסתר מפחד היהודים, ביקש מפילטוס לקחת את גופת ישוע. פילטוס נתן לו רשות. הוא בא ולקח את גופתו. 39 גם נקדימון, זה שבא בראשונה אל ישוע בלילה, בא, והביא תערובת של מור ואהלה, כמאה לירות רומיות.
40 הם לקחו את גופת ישוע ועטפו אותה בבדים עם הבשמים, כמנהג היהודים לקבור.
