THEinc-HIM Daily Bible Meditation - March 13 - Full Text

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

MARCH 13

PSALMS:  13, 43, 73, 103, 133

PROVERBS:  13

OLD TESTAMENT:  2 SAMUEL 19:11 - 20:13

NEW TESTAMENT:  JOHN 21:1 - 25

PSALMS:  13

1 How long, LORD?
Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart every day?
How long shall my enemy triumph over me?
3 Behold, and answer me, LORD, my God.
Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death;
4 Lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed against him;
" Lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall.
5 But I trust in your loving kindness.
My heart rejoices in your yeshu`ah.
6 I will sing to the LORD,
Because he has been good to me.

PSALMS:  43

1 Vindicate me, God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation.
Oh, deliver me from deceitful and wicked men.
2 For you are the God of my strength.
Why have you rejected me?
Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
3 Oh, send out your light and your truth.
Let them lead me. Let them bring me to your holy hill,
To your tents.
4 Then I will go to the altar of God,
To God, my exceeding joy.
I will praise you on the harp, God, my God.
5 Why are you in despair, my soul?
Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God!
For I shall still praise him,
The saving help of my face, and my God.

PSALMS:  73

1 Surely God is good to Yisra'el,
To those who are pure in heart.
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone.
My steps had nearly slipped.
3 For I was envious of the arrogant,
When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 For there are no struggles in their death,
But their strength is firm.
5 They are free from burdens of men,
Neither are they plagued like other men.
6 Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck.
Violence covers them like a garment.
7 Their eyes bulge with fat.
Their minds pass the limits of conceit.
8 They scoff and speak with malice.
In arrogance, they threaten oppression.
9 They have set their mouth in the heavens.
Their tongue walks through the eretz.
10 Therefore their people return to them,
And they drink up waters of abundance.
11 They say, "How does God know?
Is there knowledge in Ha`Elyon?"
12 Behold, these are the wicked.
Being always at ease, they increase in riches.
13 Surely in vain I have cleansed my heart,
And washed my hands in innocence,
14 For all day long have I been plagued,
And punished every morning.
15 If I had said, "I will speak thus;"
Behold, I would have betrayed the generation of your children.
16 When I tried to understand this,
It was too painful for me;
17  Until I entered God's sanctuary,
And considered their latter end.
18 Surely you set them in slippery places.
You throw them down to destruction.
19 How they are suddenly destroyed!
They are completely swept away with terrors.
20 As a dream when one wakes up,
So, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.
21 For my soul was grieved.
I was embittered in my heart.
22 I was so senseless and ignorant.
I was a brute beast before you.
23 Nevertheless, I am continually with you.
You have held my right hand.
24 You will guide me with your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory.
25 Who do I have in heaven?
There is no one on eretz who I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart fails,
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
27 For, behold, those who are far from you shall perish.
You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.
28 But it is good for me to come close to God.
I have made the Lord GOD my refuge,
That I may tell of all your works.

PSALMS:  103

1 Praise the LORD, my soul!
All that is within me, praise his holy name!
2 Praise the LORD, my soul,
And don't forget all his benefits;
3 Who forgives all your sins;
Who heals all your diseases;
4 Who redeems your life from destruction;
Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfies your desire with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The LORD executes righteous acts,
And justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moshe,
His deeds to the children of Yisra'el.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.
9 He will not always accuse;
Neither will he stay angry forever.
10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us for our iniquities.
11 For as the heavens are high above the eretz,
So great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.
14 For he knows how we are made.
He remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass.
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone.
Its place remembers it no more.
17 But the LORD's loving kindness is from everlasting
to everlasting with those who fear him,
His righteousness to children's children;
18 To those who keep his covenant,
To those who remember to obey his precepts.
19 The LORD has established his throne in the heavens.
His kingdom rules over all.
20 Praise the LORD, you angels of his,
Who are mighty in strength, who fulfill his word,
Obeying the voice of his word.
21 Praise the LORD, all you hosts of his,
You servants of his, who do his pleasure.
22 Praise the LORD, all you works of his,
In all places of his dominion.
Praise the LORD, my soul.

PSALMS:  133

1 See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!
2 It is like the precious oil on the head,
That ran down on the beard,
Even Aharon's beard;
That came down on the edge of his robes;
3 Like the dew of Hermon,
That comes down on the hills of Tziyon:
For there the LORD gives the blessing,
Even life forevermore.

PROVERBS:  13

1 A wise son listens to his father's instruction,
But a scoffer doesn't listen to rebuke.
2 By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things;
But the unfaithful crave violence.
3 He who guards his mouth guards his soul.
 One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
4 The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing,
But the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
5 A righteous man hates lies,
But a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.
6 Righteousness guards the way of integrity,
But wickedness overthrows the sinner.
7 There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing.
There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.
8 The ransom of a man's life is his riches,
But the poor hears no threats.
9 The light of the righteous shines brightly,
But the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
10 By pride comes only quarrels,
But with ones who take advice is wisdom.
11 Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away,
But he who gathers by hand makes it grow.
12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
But when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
13 Whoever despises instruction will pay for it,
But he who respects a command will be rewarded.
14 The teaching of the wise is a spring of life,
To turn from the snares of death.
15 Good understanding wins favor;
But the way of the unfaithful is hard.
16 Every prudent man acts from knowledge,
But a fool exposes folly.
17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble,
But a trustworthy envoy gains healing.
18 Poverty and shame come to him who refuses discipline,
But he who heeds correction shall be honored.
19 Longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul,
But fools detest turning from evil.
20 One who walks with wise men grows wise,
But a companion of fools suffers harm.
21 Misfortune pursues sinners,
But prosperity rewards the righteous.
22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children,
But the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous.
23 An abundance of food is in poor people's fields,
But injustice sweeps it away.
24 One who spares the rod hates his son,
But one who loves him is careful to discipline him.
25 The righteous one eats to the satisfying of his soul,
But the belly of the wicked goes hungry.

OLD TESTAMENT:  2 SAMUEL 19:11 - 20:13

19:11 King David sent to Tzadok and to Avyatar the Kohanim, saying, Speak to the Zakenim of Yehudah, saying, Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Yisra'el is come to the king, [to bring him] to his house. 12 You are my brothers, you are my bone and my flesh: why then are you the last to bring back the king? 13 Say you to `Amasa, Aren't you my bone and my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if you aren't captain of the host before me continually in the room of Yo'av. 14 He bowed the heart of all the men of Yehudah, even as [the heart of] one man; so that they sent to the king, [saying], Return you, and all your servants. 15 So the king returned, and came to the Yarden. Yehudah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to bring the king over the Yarden. 16 Shim`i the son of Gera, the Binyamini, who was of Bachurim, hurried and came down with the men of Yehudah to meet king David.
17  There were a thousand men of Binyamin with him, and Tziva the servant of the house of Sha'ul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went through the Yarden in the presence of the king. 18 There went over a ferry-boat to bring over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. Shim`i the son of Gera fell down before the king, when he was come over the Yarden. 19 He said to the king, Don't let my lord impute iniquity to me, neither do you remember that which your servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Yerushalayim, that the king should take it to his heart. 20 For your servant does know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come this day the first of all the house of Yosef to go down to meet my lord the king. 21 But Avishai the son of Tzeru'yah answered, Shall Shim`i not be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD's anointed? 22 David said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Tzeru'yah, that you should this day be adversaries to me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Yisra'el? for don't I know that I am this day king over Yisra'el? 23 The king said to Shim`i, You shall not die. The king swore to him.
24 Mefivoshet the son of Sha'ul came down to meet the king; and he had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in shalom. 25 It happened, when he was come to Yerushalayim to meet the king, that the king said to him, Why didn't you go with me, Mefivoshet? 26 He answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for your servant said, I will saddle me a donkey, that I may ride thereon, and go with the king; because your servant is lame. 27 He has slandered your servant to my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in your eyes. 28 For all my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king; yet you set your servant among those who ate at your own table. What right therefore have I yet that I should cry any more to the king? 29 The king said to him, Why speak you any more of your matters? I say, You and Tziva divide the land. 30 Mefivoshet said to the king, yes, let him take all, because my lord the king is come in shalom to his own house. 31 Barzillai the Gil`adite came down from Roglim; and he went over the Yarden with the king, to conduct him over the Yarden. 32 Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even eighty years old: and he had provided the king with sustenance while he lay at Machanayim; for he was a very great man. 33 The king said to Barzillai, Come you over with me, and I will sustain you with me in Yerushalayim.34 Barzillai said to the king, How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Yerushalayim? 35 I am this day eighty years old: can I discern between good and bad? can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? why then should your servant be yet a burden to my lord the king? 36 Your servant would but just go over the Yarden with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward? 37 Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But behold, your servant Kemoham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good to you. 38 The king answered, Kemoham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good to you: and whatever you shall require of me, that will I do for you. 39 All the people went over the Yarden, and the king went over: and the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned to his own place. 40 So the king went over to Gilgal, and Kemoham went over with him: and all the people of Yehudah brought the king over, and also half the people of Yisra'el. 41 Behold, all the men of Yisra'el came to the king, and said to the king, Why have our brothers the men of Yehudah stolen you away, and brought the king, and his household, over the Yarden, and all David's men with him? 42 All the men of Yehudah answered the men of Yisra'el, Because the king is a close relative to us: why then are you angry for this matter? have we eaten at all at the king's cost? or has he given us any gift? 43 The men of Yisra'el answered the men of Yehudah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more [right] in David than you: why then did you despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? The words of the men of Yehudah were fiercer than the words of the men of Yisra'el.

20:1 There happened to be there a base fellow, whose name was Sheva, the son of Bikhri, a Binyamini: and he blew the shofar, and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Yishai: every man to his tents, Yisra'el. 2 So all the men of Yisra'el went up from following David, and followed Sheva the son of Bikhri; but the men of Yehudah joined with their king, from the Yarden even to Yerushalayim. 3 David came to his house at Yerushalayim; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in custody, and provided them with sustenance, but didn't go in to them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, living in widowhood. 4 Then said the king to `Amasa, Call me the men of Yehudah together within three days, and be here present. 5 So `Amasa went to call [the men of] Yehudah together; but he stayed longer than the set time which he had appointed him. 6 David said to Avishai, Now will Sheva the son of Bikhri do us more harm than did Avshalom: take your lord's servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fortified cities, and escape out of our sight. 7 There went out after him Yo'av's men, and the Kereti and the Peleti, and all the mighty men; and they went out of Yerushalayim, to pursue after Sheva the son of Bikhri. 8 When they were at the great stone which is in Giv`on, `Amasa came to meet them. Yo'av was girded with his apparel of war that he had put on, and thereon was a sash with a sword fastened on his loins in the sheath of it; and as he went forth it fell out. 9 Yo'av said to `Amasa, Is it well with you, my brother? Yo'av took `Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him. 10 But `Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Yo'av's hand: so he struck him therewith in the body, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and didn't strike him again; and he died. Yo'av and Avishai his brother pursued after Sheva the son of Bikhri. 11 There stood by him one of Yo'av's young men, and said, He who favors Yo'av, and he who is for David, let him follow Yo'av. 12 `Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the midst of the highway. When the man saw that all the people stood still, he carried `Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a garment over him, when he saw that everyone who came by him stood still. 13 When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Yo'av, to pursue after Sheva the son of Bikhri.

NEW TESTAMENT:  JOHN 21:1 - 25

21:1 After these things, Yeshua revealed himself again to the talmidim at the sea of Tiberias. He revealed himself this way.
2 Shim`on Kefa, T'oma called Didymus, Natan'el of Kanah in the Galil, and the sons of Zavdai, and two others of his talmidim were together.
3 Shim`on Kefa said to them, "I'm going fishing." They told him, "We are also coming with you." They immediately went forth, and entered into the boat. That night, they caught nothing.
4 But when day was now breaking, Yeshua stood on the beach, yet the talmidim didn't know that it was Yeshua.
5 Yeshua therefore said to them, "Children, have you anything to eat?" They answered him, "No."
6 He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it in for the multitude of fish.
7  That talmid therefore whom Yeshua loved said to Kefa, "It's the Lord!" So when Shim`on Kefa heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around him (for he was naked), and threw himself into the sea.
8 But the other talmidim came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits away), dragging the net full of fish.
9 So when they got out on the land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.
10 Yeshua said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught."
11 Shim`on Kefa went up, and drew the net to land, full of great fish, one hundred fifty-three; and even though there were so many, the net wasn't torn.
12 Yeshua said to them, "Come and eat breakfast." None of the talmidim dared inquire of him, "Who are you?" knowing that it was the Lord.
13 Then Yeshua came and took the bread, gave it to them, and the fish likewise.
14 This is now the third time that Yeshua was revealed to his talmidim, after he had risen from the dead.
15 So when they had eaten their breakfast, Yeshua said to Shim`on Kefa, "Shim`on, son of Yonah, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
16 He said to him again a second time, "Shim`on, son of Yonah, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
17 He said to him the third time, "Shim`on, son of Yonah, do you have affection for me?" Kefa was grieved because he asked him the third time, "Do you have affection for me?" He said to him, "Lord, you know everything. You know that I have affection for you." Yeshua said to him, "Feed my sheep.
18 Most assuredly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself, and walked where you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you, and carry you where you don't want to go."
19 Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him, "Follow me."
20 Then Kefa, turning around, saw a talmid following. This was the talmid whom Yeshua sincerely loved, the one who had also leaned on Yeshua' breast at the supper and asked, "Lord, who is going to betray You?"
21 Kefa seeing him, said to Yeshua, "Lord, what about this man?"
22 Yeshua said to him, "If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? You follow me."
23 This saying therefore went forth among the brothers, that this talmid wouldn't die. Yet Yeshua didn't say to him that he wouldn't die, but, "If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you?"
24 This is the talmid who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true.
25 There are also many other things which Yeshua did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn't contain the books that would be written.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

MARCH 12

PSALMS:  12, 42, 72, 102, 132

PROVERBS:  12

OLD TESTAMENT:  2 SAMUEL 18:1 - 19:10

NEW TESTAMENT:  JOHN 20:1 - 31

PSALMS:  12

1 Help, LORD;
for the godly man ceases.
For the faithful fail from among the children of men.
2 Everyone lies to his neighbor.
With flattering lips, and with a double heart, do they speak.
3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips,
And the tongue that boasts,
4 Who have said, "With our tongue will we prevail.
Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?"
5 "Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy,
I will now arise," says the LORD;
"I will set him in safety from those who malign him."
6 The words of the LORD are flawless words,
As silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.
7 You will keep them, LORD,
You will preserve them from this generation forever.
8 The wicked walk on every side,
When what is vile is exalted among the sons of men.

PSALMS:  42

1 As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul after you, God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
3 My tears have been my food day and night,
While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?"
4 These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me,
How I used to go with the crowd, and led them to the house of God,
With the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day.
5 Why are you in despair, my soul?
Why are you disturbed within me?
Hope in God!
For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence.
6 My God, my soul is in despair within me.
Therefore I remember you from the land of the Yarden,
The heights of Hermon, from the hill Mitz`ar.
7 Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls.
All your waves and your billows have swept over me.
8 The LORD will command his loving kindness in the daytime.
In the night his song shall be with me:
A prayer to the God of my life.
9 I will ask God, my rock,
"Why have you forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"
10 As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me,
While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?"
11 Why are you in despair, my soul?
Why are you disturbed within me?
Hope in God!
For I shall still praise him,
The saving help of my countenance, and my God.

PSALMS:  72

1 God, give the king your justice;
Your righteousness to the royal son.
2 He will judge your people with righteousness,
And your poor with justice.
3 The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people;
The hills bring the fruit of righteousness.
4 He will judge the poor of the people.
He will save the children of the needy,
And will break the oppressor in pieces.
5 They shall fear you while the sun endures;
And as long as the moon, throughout all generations.
6 He will come down like rain on the mown grass,
As showers that water the eretz.
7 In his days, the righteous shall flourish,
And abundance of shalom, until the moon is no more.
8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,
From the River to the ends of the eretz.
9 Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him.
His enemies shall lick the dust.
10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring tribute.
The kings of Sheva and Seva shall offer gifts.
11 Yes, all kings shall fall down before him.
All nations shall serve him.
12 For he will deliver the needy when he cries;
The poor, who has no helper.
13 He will have pity on the poor and needy.
He will save the souls of the needy.
14 He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence.
Their blood will be precious in his sight.
15 They shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheva.
Men shall pray for him continually.
They shall bless him all day long.
16 There shall be abundance of grain throughout the land.
Its fruit sways like Levanon.
Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field.
17 His name endures forever.
His name continues as long as the sun.
Men shall be blessed by him.
All nations will call him blessed.
18 Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Yisra'el,
Who alone does marvelous deeds.
19 Blessed be his glorious name forever!
Let the whole eretz be filled with his glory!
Amein and amein.
20 This ends the prayers by David, the son of Yishai.

PSALMS:  102

1 Hear my prayer, LORD! Let my cry come to you.
2 Don't hide your face from me in the day of my distress.
Turn your ear to me.
Answer me quickly in the day when I call.
3 For my days consume away like smoke.
My bones are burned as a firebrand.
4 My heart is blighted like grass, and withered,
For I forget to eat my bread.
5 By reason of the voice of my groaning,
My bones stick to my skin.
6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness.
I have become as an owl of the waste places.
7 I watch, and have become like a sparrow that is alone on the housetop.
8 My enemies reproach me all day.
Those who are mad at me use my name as a curse.
9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,
And mixed my drink with tears,
10 Because of your indignation and your wrath,
For you have taken me up, and thrown me away.
11 My days are like a long shadow.
I have withered like grass.
12 But you, LORD, will abide forever;
Your renown endures to all generations.
13 You will arise and have mercy on Tziyon;
For it is time to have pity on her.
Yes, the set time has come.
14 For your servants take pleasure in her stones,
And have pity on her dust.
15 So the nations will fear the name of the LORD;
All the kings of the eretz your glory.
16 For the LORD has built up Tziyon.
He has appeared in his glory.
17 He has responded to the prayer of the destitute,
And has not despised their prayer.
18 This will be written for the generation to come.
A people which will be created will praise the LORD.
19 For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary.
From heaven, the LORD saw the eretz;
20 To hear the groans of the prisoner;
To free those who are condemned to death;
21 That men may declare the name of the LORD in Tziyon,
And his praise in Yerushalayim;
22 When the peoples are gathered together,
The kingdoms, to serve the LORD.
23 He weakened my strength along the course.
He shortened my days.
24 I said, "My God, don't take me away in the midst of my days.
Your years are throughout all generations.
25 Of old, you laid the foundation of the eretz.
The heavens are the work of your hands.
26 They will perish, but you will endure.
Yes, all of them will wear out like a garment.
You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed.
27 But you are the same.
Your years will have no end.
28 The children of your servants will continue.
Their seed will be established before you."

PSALMS:  132

1 LORD, remember David and all his affliction,
2 How he swore to the LORD,
And vowed to the Mighty One of Ya`akov:
3 "Surely I will not come into the structure of my house,
Nor go up into my bed;
4 I will not give sleep to my eyes,
Or slumber to my eyelids;
5 Until I find out a place for the LORD,
A dwelling for the Mighty One of Ya`akov."
6 Behold, we heard of it in Efratah.
We found it in the field of Ya`ar:
7 "We will go into his dwelling place.
We will worship at his footstool.
8 Arise, LORD, into your resting place;
You, and the ark of your strength.
9 Let your Kohen be clothed with righteousness.
Let your holy ones shout for joy!"
10 For your servant David's sake,
Don't turn away the face of your anointed one.
11 The LORD has sworn to David in truth.
He will not turn from it:
"I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.
12 If your children will keep my covenant,
My testimony that I will teach them,
Their children also will sit on your throne forevermore."
13 For the LORD has chosen Tziyon.
He has desired it for his habitation.
14 "This is my resting place forever.
Here I will live, for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless her provision.
I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 Her Kohanim I will also clothe with salvation.
Her holy ones will shout aloud for joy.
17 There I will make the horn of David to bud.
I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.
18 I will clothe his enemies with shame,
But on himself, his crown will be resplendant."

PROVERBS:  12

1 Whoever loves correction loves knowledge,
But he who hates reproof is stupid.
2 A good man shall obtain favor from the LORD,
But he will condemn a man of wicked devices.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness,
But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
4 A worthy woman is the crown of her husband,
But a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are just.
The advice of the wicked is deceitful.
6 The words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood,
But the speech of the upright rescues them.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are no more,
But the house of the righteous shall stand.
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom,
But he who has a warped mind shall be despised.
9 Better is he who is lightly esteemed, and has a servant,
Than he who honors himself, and lacks bread.
10 A righteous man regards the life of his animal,
But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread,
But he who chases fantasies is void of understanding.
12 The wicked desires the plunder of evil men,
But the root of the righteous flourishes.
13 An evil man is trapped by sinfulness of lips,
But the righteous shall come out of trouble.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth.
The doings of a man's hands shall be rewarded to him.
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
But he who is wise listens to counsel.
16 A fool shows his annoyance the same day,
But one who overlooks an insult is prudent.
17 He who is truthful testifies honestly,
But a false witness lies.
18 There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword,
But the tongue of the wise heals.
19 Truth's lips will be established forever,
But a lying tongue is only momentary.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil,
But joy comes to the promoters of shalom.
21 No mischief shall happen to the righteous,
But the wicked shall be filled with evil.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD,
But those who do the truth are his delight.
23 A prudent man keeps his knowledge,
But the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness.
24 The hands of the diligent ones shall rule,
But laziness ends in slave labor.
25 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down,
But a kind word makes it glad.
26 The righteous is cautious in friendship,
But the way of the wicked leads them astray.
27 The slothful man doesn't roast his game,
But the possessions of diligent men are prized.
28 In the way of righteousness is life;
In its path there is no death.

OLD TESTAMENT:  2 SAMUEL 18:1 - 19:10

18:1 David numbered the people who were with him, and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them. 2 David sent forth the people, a third part under the hand of Yo'av, and a third part under the hand of Avishai the son of Tzeru'yah, Yo'av's brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. The king said to the people, I will surely go forth with you myself also. 3 But the people said, You shall not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but you are worth ten thousand of us; therefore now it is better that you are ready to help us out of the city. 4 The king said to them, What seems you best I will do. The king stood by the gate-side, and all the people went out by hundreds and by thousands. 5 The king commanded Yo'av and Avishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Avshalom. All the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Avshalom. 6 So the people went out into the field against Yisra'el: and the battle was in the forest of Efrayim. 7  The people of Yisra'el were struck there before the servants of David, and there was a great slaughter there that day of twenty thousand men. 8 For the battle was there spread over the surface of all the country; and the forest devoured more people that day than the sword devoured. 9 Avshalom happened to meet the servants of David. Avshalom was riding on his mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the sky and eretz; and the mule that was under him went on. 10 A certain man saw it, and told Yo'av, and said, Behold, I saw Avshalom hanging in an oak. 11 Yo'av said to the man who told him, Behold, you saw it, and why didn't you strike him there to the ground? and I would have given you ten [pieces of] silver, and a sash. 12 The man said to Yo'av, Though I should receive a thousand [pieces of] silver in my hand, I still wouldn't put forth my hand against the king's son; for in our hearing the king charged you and Avishai and Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch the young man Avshalom. 13 Otherwise if I had dealt falsely against his life (and there is no matter hid from the king), then you yourself would have set yourself against [me]. 14 Then said Yo'av, I may not wait thus with you. He took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Avshalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak. 15 Ten young men who bore Yo'av's armor compassed about and struck Avshalom, and killed him. 16 Yo'av blew the shofar, and the people returned from pursuing after Yisra'el; for Yo'av held back the people. 17  They took Avshalom, and cast him into the great pit in the forest, and raised over him a very great heap of stones: and all Yisra'el fled everyone to his tent. 18 Now Avshalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself the pillar, which is in the king's dale; for he said, I have no son to keep my name in memory: and he called the pillar after his own name; and it is called Avshalom's monument, to this day. 19 Then said Achima`atz the son of Tzadok, Let me now run, and bear the king news, how that the LORD has avenged him of his enemies. 20 Yo'av said to him, You shall not be the bearer of news this day, but you shall bear news another day; but this day you shall bear no news, because the king's son is dead. 21 Then said Yo'av to the Kushite, Go, tell the king what you have seen. The Kushite bowed himself to Yo'av, and ran. 22 Then said Achima`atz the son of Tzadok yet again to Yo'av, But come what may, Please let me also run after the Kushite. Yo'av said, Why will you run, my son, seeing that you will have no reward for the news? 23 But come what may, [said he], I will run. He said to him, Run. Then Achima`atz ran by the way of the Plain, and outran the Kushite. 24 Now David was sitting between the two gates: and the watchman went up to the roof of the gate to the wall, and lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, a man running alone. 25 The watchman cried, and told the king. The king said, If he be alone, there is news in his mouth. He came apace, and drew near. 26 The watchman saw another man running; and the watchman called to the porter, and said, Behold, [another] man running alone. The king said, He also brings news. 27 The watchman said, I think the running of the foremost is like the running of Achima`atz the son of Tzadok. The king said, He is a good man, and comes with good news. 28 Achima`atz called, and said to the king, All is well. He bowed himself before the king with his face to the eretz, and said, Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delivered up the men who lifted up their hand against my lord the king. 29 The king said, Is it well with the young man Avshalom? Achima`atz answered, When Yo'av sent the king's servant, even me your servant, I saw a great tumult, but I don't know what it was. 30 The king said, Turn aside, and stand here. He turned aside, and stood still. 31 Behold, the Kushite came; and the Kushite said, News for my lord the king; for the LORD has avenged you this day of all those who rose up against you. 32 The king said to the Kushite, Is it well with the young man Avshalom? The Kushite answered, The enemies of my lord the king, and all who rise up against you to do you hurt, be as that young man is. 33 The king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and as he went, thus he said, my son Avshalom, my son, my son Avshalom! would I had died for you, Avshalom, my son, my son!

19:1 It was told Yo'av, Behold, the king weeps and mourns for Avshalom. 2 The victory that day was turned into mourning to all the people; for the people heard say that day, The king grieves for his son. 3 The people got them by stealth that day into the city, as people who are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle. 4 The king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, my son Avshalom, Avshalom, my son, my son! 5 Yo'av came into the house to the king, and said, You have shamed this day the faces of all your servants, who this day have saved your life, and the lives of your sons and of your daughters, and the lives of your wives, and the lives of your concubines; 6 in that you love those who hate you, and hate those who love you. For you have declared this day, that princes and servants are nothing to you: for this day I perceive that if Avshalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased you well. 7 Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably to your servants; for I swear by the LORD, if you don't go forth, there will not stay a man with you this night: and that will be worse to you than all the evil that has befallen you from your youth until now. 8 Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. They told to all the people, saying, Behold, the king is sitting in the gate: and all the people came before the king. Now Yisra'el had fled every man to his tent. 9 All the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Yisra'el, saying, The king delivered us out of the hand of our enemies, and he saved us out of the hand of the Pelishtim; and now he is fled out of the land from Avshalom. 10 Avshalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why don't you speak a word of bringing the king back?

NEW TESTAMENT:  JOHN 20:1 - 31

20:1 Now on the first day of the week, Miryam from Magdala went early, while it was yet dark, to the tomb, and saw the stone taken away from the tomb.
2 She ran therefore, and came to Shim`on Kefa, and to the other talmid whom Yeshua loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have laid him!"
3 Kefa therefore went forth, and the other talmid, and they went toward the tomb.
4 They both ran together. The other talmid outran Kefa, and came to the tomb first.
5 Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he didn't enter in.
6 Then Shim`on Kefa came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying,
7 and the cloth that was on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.
8 Then the other talmid also entered in therefore, who came first to the tomb, and he saw, and believed.
9 For as yet they didn't know the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
10 So the talmidim went away again to their own homes.
11 But Miryam was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb,
12 and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Yeshua had lain.
13 They told her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don't know where they have laid him."
14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Yeshua standing, and didn't know that it was Yeshua.
15 Yeshua said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?" She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away."
16 Yeshua said to her, "Miryam." She turned and said to him, "Rhabbouni!" which is to say, "Teacher!"
17 Yeshua said to her, "Don't touch me, for I haven't yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.'"
18 Miryam from Magdala came and told the talmidim that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things to her.
19 When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were locked where the talmidim were assembled, for fear of the Yehudim, Yeshua came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Shalom be to you."
20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The talmidim therefore were glad when they saw the Lord.
21 Yeshua therefore said to them again, "Shalom be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you."
22 When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Ruach HaKodesh!
23 Whoever's sins you forgive, they are forgiven to them. Whoever's sins you retain, they have been retained."
24But T'oma, one of the twelve, called Didymus, wasn't with them when Yeshua came.
25 The other talmidim therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
26 After eight days again his talmidim were inside, and T'oma with them. Yeshua came, the doors being locked, and stood in the midst, and said, "Shalom be to you."
27 Then he said to T'oma, "Reach here your finger, and see my hands. Reach here your hand, and put it into my side. Don't be unbelieving, but believing."
28 T'oma answered him, "My Lord and my God!"
29 Yeshua said to him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed."
30 Therefore Yeshua did many other signs in the presence of his talmidim, which are not written in this book;
31 but these are written, that you may believe that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.

21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
