THEinc-HIM Daily Bible Meditation - June 24 - Full Text

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

JUNE 24

PSALMS:   24, 54, 84, 114, 144

PROVERBS:  24

OLD TESTAMENT:  ISAIAH 12:1 - 14:32

NEW TESTAMENT:  2 CORINTHIANS 13:1 - 14

PSALMS:  24

1 The eretz is the LORD's, with its fullness;
The world, and those who dwell therein.
2 For he has founded it on the seas,
And established it on the floods.
3 Who may ascend to the LORD's hill?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart;
Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood,
And has not sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive a blessing from the LORD,
Righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek your face --  even Ya`akov.
Selah.
7 Lift up your heads, you gates;
Be lifted up, you everlasting doors:
The King of glory will come in.
8 Who is the King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
The LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates;
Yes, lift them up, you everlasting doors:
The King of glory will come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of Hosts,
He is the King of glory.
Selah.

PSALMS:  54

1 Save me, God, by your name.
Vindicate me in your might.
2 Hear my prayer, God.
Listen to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have risen up against me.
Violent men have sought after my soul.
They haven't set God before them.
Selah.
4 Behold, God is my helper.
The Lord is the one who sustains my soul.
5 He will repay the evil to my enemies.
Destroy them in your truth.
6 With a free will offering, I will sacrifice to you.
I will give thanks to your name, LORD, for it is good.
7 For he has delivered me out of all trouble.
My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.

PSALMS:  84

1 How lovely are your dwellings,
LORD of Hosts!
2 My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of the LORD.
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
3 Yes, the sparrow has found a home,
And the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young,
Near your altars, LORD of Hosts,
My King, and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house.
They are always praising you. Selah.
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in you;
Who have set their hearts on a pilgrimage.
6 Passing through the valley of Weeping,
they make it a place of springs.
Yes, the autumn rain covers it with blessings.
7 They go from strength to strength.
Everyone of them appears before God in Tziyon.
8 LORD, God Tzva'ot, hear my prayer.
Listen, God of Ya`akov.
Selah.
9 Behold, God our shield,
Look at the face of your anointed.
10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,
Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and a shield.
The LORD will give grace and glory.
He withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly.
12 LORD of Hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in you.

PSALMS:  114

1 When Yisra'el went forth out of Mitzrayim,
The house of Ya`akov from a people of foreign language;
2 Yehudah became his sanctuary,
Yisra'el his dominion.
3 The sea saw it, and fled.
The Yarden was driven back.
4 The mountains skipped like rams,
The little hills like lambs.
5 What was it, you sea, that you fled?
You Yarden, that you turned back?
6 You mountains, that you skipped like rams;
You little hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble, you eretz, at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the God of Ya`akov,
8 Who turned the rock into a pool of water,
The flint into a spring of waters.

PSALMS:  144

1 Blessed be the LORD, my rock,
Who teaches my hands to war,
And my fingers to battle:
2 My loving kindness, my fortress,
My high tower, my deliverer,
My shield, and he in whom I take refuge;
Who subdues my people under me.
3 LORD, what is man, that you care for him?
Or the son of man, that you think of him?
4 Man is like a breath.
His days are like a shadow that passes away.
5 Part your heavens, LORD, and come down.
Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.
6 Throw out lightning, and scatter them.
Send out your arrows, and rout them.
7 Stretch out your hand from above,
Rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters,
Out of the hands of foreigners;
8 Whose mouths speak deceit,
Whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
9 I will sing a new song to you, God.
On a ten-stringed lyre,
I will sing praises to you.
10 You are he who gives salvation to kings,
Who rescues David, his servant, from the deadly sword.
11 Rescue me, and deliver me out of the hands of foreigners,
Whose mouths speak deceit,
Whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
12 Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants,
Our daughters like pillars carved to adorn a palace.
13 Our barns are full, filled with all kinds of provision.
Our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields.
14 Our oxen will pull heavy loads.
There is no breaking in, and no going away,
And no outcry in our streets.
15 Happy are the people who are in such a situation.
Happy are the people whose God is the LORD.

PROVERBS:   24

1 Don't you be envious against evil men;
Neither desire to be with them:
2 For their hearts plot violence,
And their lips talk about mischief.
3 Through wisdom a house is built;
By understanding it is established;
4 By knowledge the rooms are filled
With all rare and beautiful treasure.
5 A wise man has great power;
And a knowledgeable man increases strength;
6 For by wise guidance you wage your war;
And victory is in many advisors.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool:
He doesn't open his mouth in the gate.
8 One who plots to do evil
Will be called a schemer.
9 The schemes of folly are sin.
The mocker is detested by men.
10 If you falter in the time of trouble,
Your strength is small.
11 Rescue those who are being led away to death!
Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!
12 If you say,
"Behold, we didn't know this;"
Doesn't he who weighs the hearts consider it?
He who keeps your soul, doesn't he know it?
Shall he not render to every man according to his work?
13 My son, eat honey, for it is good;
The droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste:
14 So you shall know wisdom to be to your soul;
If you have found it, then will there be a reward,
Your hope will not be cut off.
15 Don't lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous.
Don't destroy his resting-place:
16 For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again;
But the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
17 Don't rejoice when your enemy falls.
Don't let your heart be glad when he is overthrown;
18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him,
And he turn away his wrath from him.
19 Don't fret yourself because of evildoers;
Neither be envious of the wicked:
20 For there will be no reward to the evil man;
And the lamp of the wicked shall be snuffed out.
21 My son, fear the LORD and the king.
Don't join those who are rebellious:
22 For their calamity will rise suddenly;
The destruction from them both -- who knows?
23 These also are sayings of the wise.
To show partiality in judgment is not good.
24 He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous;"
Peoples shall curse him, and nations shall abhor him --
25 But it will go well with those who convict the guilty,
And a rich blessing will come on them.
26 An honest answer Is like a kiss on the lips.
27 Prepare your work outside.
Make it ready for you in the field.
Afterwards, build your house.
28 Don't be a witness against your neighbor without cause.
Don't deceive with your lips.
29 Don't say, "I will do to him as he has done to me;
I will render to the man according to his work."
30 I went by the field of the sluggard,
By the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 Behold, it was all grown over with thorns.
Its surface was covered with nettles,
And its stone wall was broken down.
32 Then I saw, and considered well.
I saw, and received instruction:
33 A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep;
34 So shall your poverty come as a robber,
And your want as an armed man.

OLD TESTAMENT:  ISAIAH 12:1 - 14:32

12:1 In that day you will say, "I will give thanks to you, the LORD; for though you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you comfort me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD, the LORD, is my strength and song; and he has become my yeshu`ah." 3 Therefore with joy you shall draw water out of the wells of yeshu`ah. 4 In that day you will say, "Give thanks to the LORD! Call on his name. Declare his doings among the peoples. Proclaim that his name is exalted! 5 Sing to the LORD, for he has done excellent things! Let this be known in all the eretz! 6 Cry aloud and shout, you inhabitant of Tziyon; for great in the midst of you is the Holy One of Yisra'el!"

13:1 The burden of Bavel, which Yesha`yahu the son of Amotz did see. 2 Set up an ensign on the bare mountain, lift up the voice to them, wave the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. 3 I have commanded my consecrated ones, yes, I have called my mighty men for my anger, even my proudly exulting ones. 4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, as of a great people! the noise of a tumult of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! the LORD of Hosts is mustering the host for the battle. 5 They come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. 6 Wail; for the day of the LORD is at hand; as destruction from Shaddai shall it come. 7 Therefore shall all hands be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt: 8 and they shall be dismayed; pangs and sorrows shall take hold [of them]; they shall be in pain as a woman in travail: they shall look in amazement one at another; their faces [shall be] faces of flame. 9 Behold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy the sinners of it out of it. 10 For the stars of the sky and the constellations of it shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in its going forth, and the moon shall not cause its light to shine. 11 I will punish the world for [their] evil, and the wicked for their iniquity: and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make a man more rare than fine gold, even a man than the pure gold of Ofir. 13 Therefore I will make the heavens to tremble, and the eretz shall be shaken out of its place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. 14 It shall happen, that as the chased roe, and as sheep that no man gathers, they shall turn every man to his own people, and shall flee every man to his own land. 15 Everyone who is found shall be thrust through; and everyone who is taken shall fall by the sword. 16 Their infants also shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be rifled, and their wives ravished. 17 Behold, I will stir up the Madai against them, who shall not regard silver, and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. 18 [Their] bows shall dash the young men in pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. 19 Bavel, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Kasdim' pride, shall be as when God overthrew Sedom and `Amorah. 20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be lived in from generation to generation: neither shall the `Arivi pitch tent there; neither shall shepherds make their flocks to lie down there. 21 But wild animals of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and ostriches shall dwell there, and wild goats shall dance there. 22 Wolves shall cry in their castles, and jackals in the pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

14:1 For the LORD will have compassion on Ya`akov, and will yet choose Yisra'el, and set them in their own land: and the sojourner shall join himself with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Ya`akov.2 The peoples shall take them, and bring them to their place; and the house of Yisra'el shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and for handmaids: and they shall take them captive whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors. 3 It shall happen in the day that the LORD shall give you rest from your sorrow, and from your trouble, and from the hard service in which you were made to serve, 4 that you shall take up this parable against the king of Bavel, and say, How has the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! 5 The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers; 6 who struck the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, who ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained. 7 The whole eretz is at rest, [and] is quiet: they break forth into singing. 8 Yes, the fir trees rejoice at you, [and] the cedars of Levanon, [saying], Since you are laid low, no lumberjack is come up against us.
9 She'ol from beneath is moved for you to meet you at your coming; it stirs up the dead for you, even all the chief ones of the eretz; it has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. 10 All they shall answer and tell you, Are you also become weak as we? are you become like us? 11 Your pomp is brought down to She'ol, [and] the noise of your viols: the worm is spread under you, and worms cover you.12 How you are fallen from heaven, Heylel, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low! 13 You said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; and I will sit on the mountain of congregation, in the uttermost parts of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like Ha`Elyon. 15 Yet you shall be brought down to She'ol, to the uttermost parts of the pit. 16 Those who see you shall gaze at you, they shall consider you, [saying], "Is this the man who made the eretz to tremble, who shook kingdoms; 17 who made the world as a wilderness, and overthrew the cities of it; who didn't let loose his prisoners to their home?" 18 All the kings of the nations, all of them, sleep in glory, everyone in his own house. 19 But you are cast forth away from your tomb like an abominable branch, clothed with the slain, who are thrust through with the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit; as a dead body trodden under foot. 20 You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed your land, you have killed your people; the seed of evil-doers shall not be named forever. 21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers, that they not rise up, and possess the eretz, and fill the surface of the world with cities. 22 I will rise up against them, says the LORD of Hosts, and cut off from Bavel name and remnant, and son and son's son, says the LORD. 23 I will also make it a possession for the porcupine, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction, says the LORD of Hosts. 24 The LORD of Hosts has sworn, saying, Surely, as I have thought, so shall it happen; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: 25 that I will break the Ashshur in my land, and on my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulder. 26 This is the purpose that is purposed on the whole eretz; and this is the hand that is stretched out on all the nations. 27 For the LORD of Hosts has purposed, and who shall annul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back? 28 In the year that king Achaz died was this burden. 29 Don't rejoice, O Peleshet, all of you, because the rod that struck you is broken; for out of the serpent's root shall come forth an adder, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. 30 The firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; and I will kill your root with famine, and your remnant shall be killed. 31 Howl, gate; cry, city; you are melted away, Peleshet, all of you; for there comes a smoke out of the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks. 32 What then shall one answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD has founded Tziyon, and in her shall the afflicted of his people take refuge.

NEW TESTAMENT:  2 CORINTHIANS 13:1 - 14

13:1 This is the third time I am coming to you. "At the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word established."
2 I have said beforehand, and I do say beforehand, as when I was present the second time, so now, being absent, I write to those who have sinned before now, and to all the rest, that, if I come again, I will not spare;
3 seeing that you seek a proof of Messiah that speaks in me; who toward you is not weak, but is powerful in you.
4 For he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives through the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we will live with him through the power of God toward you.
5 Test your own selves, whether you are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don't you know as to your own selves, that Yeshua the Messiah is in you? Unless indeed you are disqualified.
6 But I hope that you will know that we aren't disqualified.
7 Now I pray to God that you do no evil; not that we may appear approved, but that you may do that which is honorable, though we are as reprobate.
8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
9 For we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong. And this we also pray for, even your perfecting.
10 For this cause I write these things while absent, that I may not deal sharply when present, according to the authority which the Lord gave me for building up, and not for tearing down.
11 Finally, brothers, rejoice. Be perfected, be comforted, be of the same mind, live in shalom, and the God of love and shalom will be with you.
12 Greet one another with a holy kiss.
13 All the holy ones greet you.
14 The grace of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, the love of God, and the communion of the Ruach HaKodesh, be with you all. Amein.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." THEinc-HIM Daily Bible Meditation - June 23 - Full Text

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

JUNE 23

PSALMS:   23, 53, 83, 113, 143

PROVERBS:  23

OLD TESTAMENT:  ISAIAH 10:1 - 11:16

NEW TESTAMENT:  2 CORINTHIANS 12:11 - 21

PSALMS:  23

1 The LORD is my shepherd:
I shall lack nothing.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You have anointed my head with oil.
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the LORD's house forever.

PSALMS:  53

1 The fool has said in his heart,
"There is no God."
They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity.
There is no one who does good.
2 God looks down from heaven on the children of men,
To see if there are any who understood, Who seek after God.
3 Every one of them has gone back.
They have become filthy together.
There is no one who does good, no, not one.
4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge,
Who eat up my people as they eat bread,
And don't call on God?
5 There they were in great fear, where no fear was,
For God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you.
You have put them to shame,
Because God has rejected them.
6 Oh that the yeshu`ah of Yisra'el would come out of Tziyon!
When God brings back the captivity of his people,
Then shall Ya`akov rejoice.
Yisra'el shall be glad.

PSALMS:  83

1 God, don't keep silent.
Don't keep silent, and don't be still, God.
2 For, behold, your enemies are stirred up.
Those who hate you have lifted up their heads.
3 They conspire with cunning against your people.
They plot against your cherished ones.
4 "Come," they say, "and let us destroy them as a nation,
That the name of Yisra'el may be remembered no more."
5 For they have conspired together with one mind.
They form an alliance against you.
6 The tents of Edom and the Yishme`elim;
Mo'av, and the Hagrim;
7 Geval, `Ammon, and `Amalek;
Peleshet with the inhabitants of Tzor;
8 Ashshur also is joined with them.
They have helped the children of Lot.
Selah.
9 Do to them as you did to Midyan,
As to Sisera, as to Yavin, at the river Kishon;
10 Who perished at `En-Dor,
Who became as dung for the eretz.
11 Make their nobles like `Orev and Ze'ev;
Yes, all their princes like Zevach and Tzalmunnah;
12 Who said, "Let us take possession
Of God's pasturelands."
13 My God, make them like tumbleweed;
Like chaff before the wind.
14 As the fire that burns the forest,
As the flame that sets the mountains on fire,
15 So pursue them with your tempest,
Terrify them with your storm.
16 Fill their faces with confusion,
That they may seek your name, LORD.
17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever.
Yes, let them be confounded and perish;
18 That they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD,
Are Ha`Elyon over all the eretz.

PSALMS:  113

1 Praise the LORD!
Praise, you servants of the LORD,
Praise the name of the LORD.
2 Blessed be the name of the LORD,
From this time forth and forevermore.
3 From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same,
The LORD's name is to be praised.
4 The LORD is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the LORD, our God,
Who has his seat on high,
6 Who stoops down to see in heaven and in the eretz?
7 He raises up the poor out of the dust.
Lifts up the needy from the ash heap;
8 That he may set him with princes,
Even with the princes of his people.
9 He settles the barren woman in her home,
As a joyful mother of children.
Praise the LORD!

PSALMS:  143

1 Hear my prayer, LORD.
Listen to my petitions.
In your faithfulness and righteousness, relieve me.
2 Don't enter into judgment with your servant,
For in your sight no man living is righteous.
3 For the enemy pursues my soul.
He has struck my life down to the ground.
He has made me live in dark places,
as those who have been long dead.
4 Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me.
My heart within me is desolate.
5 I remember the days of old.
I meditate on all your doings.
I contemplate the work of your hands.
6 I spread forth my hands to you.
My soul thirsts for you, like a parched land.
Selah.
7 Hurry to answer me, LORD.
My spirit fails.
Don't hide your face from me,
So that I don't become like those who go down into the pit.
8 Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning,
For I trust in you.
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to you.
9 Deliver me, LORD, from my enemies.
I flee to you to hide me.
10 Teach me to do your will,
For you are my God.
Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness.
11 Revive me, LORD, for your name's sake.
In your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble.
12 In your loving kindness, cut off my enemies,
And destroy all those who afflict my soul,
For I am your servant.

PROVERBS:  23

1 When you sit to eat with a ruler,
Consider diligently what is before you;
2 Put a knife to your throat,
If you are a man given to appetite.
3 Don't be desirous of his dainties,
Seeing they are deceitful food.
4 Don't weary yourself to be rich.
In your wisdom, show restraint
5 Why do you set your eyes on that which is not?
For it certainly sprouts wings like an eagle and flies in the sky.
6 Don't eat the food of him who has a stingy eye,
And don't crave his delicacies:
7 For as he thinks about the cost, so he is.
"Eat and drink!" he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.
8 The morsel which you have eaten you shall vomit up,
And lose your good words.
9 Don't speak in the ears of a fool,
For he will despise the wisdom of your words.
10 Don't move the ancient boundary stone.
Don't encroach on the fields of the fatherless:
11 For their Defender is strong.
He will plead their case against you.
12 Apply your heart to instruction,
And your ears to the words of knowledge.
13 Don't withhold correction from a child.
If you punish him with the rod, he will not die.
14 Punish him with the rod,
And save his soul from She'ol
15 My son, if your heart is wise,
Then my heart will be glad, even mine:
16 Yes, my heart will rejoice,
When your lips speak what is right.
17 Don't let your heart envy sinners;
But rather fear the LORD all the day long.
18 Indeed surely there is a future hope,
And your hope will not be cut off.
19 Listen, my son, and be wise,
And keep your heart on the right path
20 Don't be among ones drinking too much wine,
Or those who gorge themselves on meat:
21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor;
And drowsiness clothes them in rags
22 Listen to your father who gave you life,
And don't despise your mother when she is old.
23 Buy the truth, and don't sell it:
Get wisdom, discipline, and understanding.
24 The father of the righteous has great joy.
Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him.
25 Let your father and your mother be glad!
Let her who bore you rejoice!
26 My son, give me your heart;
And let your eyes keep in my ways.
27 For a prostitute is a deep pit;
And a wayward wife is a narrow well.
28 Yes, she lies in wait like a robber,
And increases the unfaithful among men.
29 Who has woe?
Who has sorrow?
Who has strife?
Who has complaints?
Who has needless bruises?
Who has bloodshot eyes?
30 Those who stay long at the wine;
Those who go to seek out mixed wine.
31 Don't look at the wine when it is red,
When it sparkles in the cup,
When it goes down smoothly:
32 At the last it bites like a snake,
And poisons like a viper.
33 Your eyes will see strange things,
And your mind will imagine confusing things.
34 Yes, you will be as he who lies down in the midst of the sea,
Or as he who lies on top of the rigging:
35 "They hit me, and I was not hurt;
They beat me, and I don't feel it!
When will I wake up?
I can do it again.
I can find another."

OLD TESTAMENT:  ISAIAH 10:1 - 11:16

11:1 Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write perverseness; 2 to turn aside the needy from justice, and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey! 3 What will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will you flee for help? and where will you leave your glory? 4 They shall only bow down under the prisoners, and shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 5 Ho Ashshur, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation! 6 I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 However he doesn't mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations. 8 For he says, Aren't my princes all of them kings? 9 Isn't Kalno as Karkemish? Isn't Hamat as Arpad? Isn't Shomron as Dammesek? 10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose engraved images did excel them of Yerushalayim and of Shomron; 11 shall I not, as I have done to Shomron and her idols, so do to Yerushalayim and her idols? 12 Therefore it shall happen that, when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Tziyon and on Yerushalayim, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Ashshur, and the glory of his high looks. 13 For he has said, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding: and I have removed the bounds of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures, and like a valiant man I have brought down those who sit [on thrones]: 14 and my hand has found as a nest the riches of the peoples; and as one gathers eggs that are forsaken, have I gathered all the eretz: and there was none that moved the wing, or that opened the mouth, or chirped. 15 Shall the ax boast itself against him who hews therewith? Shall the saw magnify itself against him who wields it? as if a rod should wield those who lift it up, [or] as if a staff should lift up [him who is] not wood. 16 Therefore will the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory there shall be kindled a burning like the burning of fire. 17 The light of Yisra'el will be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day. 18 He will consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and it shall be as when a standard-bearer faints. 19 The remnant of the trees of his forest shall be few, so that a child may write them. 20 It shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Yisra'el, and those who are escaped of the house of Ya`akov, shall no more again lean on him who struck them, but shall lean on the LORD, the Holy One of Yisra'el, in truth. 21 A remnant shall return, [even] the remnant of Ya`akov, to the mighty God. 22 For though your people, Yisra'el, be as the sand of the sea, [only] a remnant of them shall return: a destruction [is] determined, overflowing with righteousness. 23 For a full end, and that determined, will the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, make in the midst of all the eretz. 24 Therefore thus says the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, my people who dwell in Tziyon, don't be afraid of the Ashshur, though he strike you with the rod, and lift up his staff against you, after the manner of Mitzrayim. 25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation [against you] shall be accomplished, and my anger [shall be directed] to his destruction. 26 The LORD of Hosts will stir up against him a scourge, as in the slaughter of Midyan at the rock of `Orev: and his rod will be over the sea, and he will lift it up after the manner of Mitzrayim. 27 It shall happen in that day, that his burden shall depart from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed by reason of fatness. 28 He is come to `Ayat, he is passed through Migron; at Mikhmash he lays up his baggage; 29 they are gone over the pass; they have taken up their lodging at Geva; Ramah trembles; Gevah of Sha'ul is fled. 30 Cry aloud with your voice, daughter of Gallim! listen, Layshah! You poor `Anatot! 31 Madmenah is a fugitive; the inhabitants of Gevim flee for safety. 32 This very day shall he halt at Nov: he shakes his hand at the mountain of the daughter of Tziyon, the hill of Yerushalayim.
33 Behold, the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, will lop the boughs with terror: and the high of stature shall be hewn down, and the lofty shall be brought low. 34 He will cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Levanon shall fall by a mighty one.

12:1 There shall come forth a netzer out of the stock of Yishai, and a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. 3 His delight shall be in the fear of the LORD; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears; 4 but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the eretz; and he shall strike the eretz with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips shall he kill the wicked. 5 Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins. 6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 The cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the eretz shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10 It shall happen in that day, that the root of Yishai, who stands for an ensign of the peoples, to him shall the nations seek; and his resting-place shall be glorious. 11 It shall happen in that day, that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Ashshur, and from Mitzrayim, and from Patros, and from Kush, and from `Elam, and from Shin`ar, and from Hamat, and from the islands of the sea. 12 He will set up an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Yisra'el, and gather together the dispersed of Yehudah from the four corners of the eretz. 13 The envy also of Efrayim shall depart, and those who vex Yehudah shall be cut off: Efrayim shall not envy Yehudah, and Yehudah shall not vex Efrayim. 14 They shall fly down on the shoulder of the Pelishtim on the west; together shall they despoil the children of the east: they shall put forth their hand on Edom and Mo'av; and the children of `Ammon shall obey them. 15 The LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Mitzrian sea; and with his scorching wind will he wave his hand over the River, and will strike it into seven streams, and cause men to march over in sandals. 16 There shall be a highway for the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Ashshur; like as there was for Yisra'el in the day that he came up out of the land of Mitzrayim.

NEW TESTAMENT:  2 CORINTHIANS 12:11 - 21

12:11 I have become foolish in boasting. You compelled me, for I ought to have been commended by you, for in nothing was I behind the very best apostles, though I am nothing.
12 Truly the signs of an apostle were worked among you in all patience, in signs and wonders and mighty works.
13 For what is there in which you were made inferior to the rest of the assemblies, unless it is that I myself was not a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong.
14 Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I seek not your possessions, but you. For the children ought not to save up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
15 I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more abundantly, am I loved the less?
16 But be it so, I did not myself burden you. But, being crafty, I caught you with deception.
17 Did I take advantage of you by anyone of them whom I have sent to you?
18 I exhorted Titus, and I sent the brother with him. Did Titus take any advantage of you? Didn't we walk in the same spirit? Didn't we walk in the same steps?
19 Again, do you think that we are excusing ourselves to you? In the sight of God we speak in Messiah. But all things, beloved, are for your edifying.
20 For I am afraid that by any means, when I come, I might find you not the way I want to, and that I might be found by you as you don't desire; that by any means there would be strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, whisperings, proud thoughts, riots;
21 that again when I come my God would humble me before you, and I would mourn for many of those who have sinned before now, and not repented of the uncleanness and sexual immorality and lustfulness which they committed.

21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
