PSALMS:
15
A
psalm of David.
1
LORD,
who may dwell in your sanctuary?
Who
may live on your holy hill?
2
He
whose walk is blameless
and
who does what is righteous,
who
speaks the truth from his heart
3
and
has no slander on his tongue,
who
does his neighbor no wrong
and
casts no slur on his fellowman,
4
who
despises a vile man
but
honors those who fear the LORD,
who
keeps his oath
even
when it hurts,
5
who
lends his money without usury
and
does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
He
who does these things
will
never be shaken. 1

For
the director of music. To the tune of "Lilies." Of the Sons
of Korah. A maskil.
A
A wedding song.
1
My
heart is stirred by a noble theme
as
I recite my verses for the king;
my
tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
2
You
are the most excellent of men
and
your lips have been anointed with grace,
since
God has blessed you forever.
3
Gird
your sword upon your side, O mighty one;
clothe
yourself with splendor and majesty.
4
In
your majesty ride forth victoriously
in
behalf of truth, humility and righteousness;
let
your right hand display awesome deeds.
5
Let
your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies;
let
the nations fall beneath your feet.
6
Your
throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a
scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
7
You
love righteousness and hate wickedness;
therefore
God, your God, has set you above your companions
by
anointing you with the oil of joy.
8
All
your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia;
from
palaces adorned with ivory
the
music of the strings makes you glad.
9
Daughters
of kings are among your honored women;
at
your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.
10
Listen,
O daughter, consider and give ear:
Forget
your people and your father's house. 2
11
The
king is enthralled by your beauty;
honor
him, for he is your lord.
12
The
Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift, B
men
of wealth will seek your favor.
13
All
glorious is the princess within her chamber;
her
gown is interwoven with gold.
14
In
embroidered garments she is led to the king;
her
virgin companions follow her
and
are brought to you.
15
They
are led in with joy and gladness;
they
enter the palace of the king.
16
Your
sons will take the place of your fathers;
you
will make them princes throughout the land.
17
I
will perpetuate your memory through all generations;
therefore
the nations will praise you for ever and ever. 3

For
the director of music. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." A
psalm of Asaph. A song.
1
We
give thanks to you, O God,
we
give thanks, for your Name is near;
men
tell of your wonderful deeds.
2
You
say, "I
choose the appointed time;
it
is I who judge uprightly.
3
When
the earth and all its people quake,
it
is I who hold its pillars firm.
Selah
4
To
the arrogant I say, `Boast no more,'
and
to the wicked, `Do not lift up your horns.
5
Do
not lift your horns against heaven;
do
not speak with outstretched neck.'"
6
No
one from the east or the west
or
from the desert can exalt a man.
7
But
it is God who judges:
He
brings one down, he exalts another.
8
In
the hand of the LORD is a cup
full
of foaming wine mixed with spices;
he
pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth
drink
it down to its very dregs.
9
As
for me, I will declare this forever;
I
will sing praise to the God of Jacob.
10
I
will cut off the horns of all the wicked,
but
the horns of the righteous will be lifted up. 4
PSALMS:
105
1
Give
thanks to the LORD, call on his name;
make
known among the nations what he has done.
2
Sing
to him, sing praise to him;
tell
of all his wonderful acts.
3
Glory
in his holy name;
let
the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
4
Look
to the LORD and his strength;
seek
his face always.
5
Remember
the wonders he has done,
his
miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
6
O
descendants of Abraham his servant,
O
sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.
7
He
is the LORD our God;
his
judgments are in all the earth.
8
He
remembers his covenant forever,
the
word he commanded, for a thousand generations,
9
the
covenant he made with Abraham,
the
oath he swore to Isaac.
10
He
confirmed it to Jacob as a decree,
to
Israel as an everlasting covenant:
11
"To
you I will give the land of Canaan
as
the portion you will inherit."
12
When
they were but few in number,
few
indeed, and strangers in it,
13
they
wandered from nation to nation,
from
one kingdom to another.
14
He
allowed no one to oppress them;
for
their sake he rebuked kings:
15
"Do
not touch my anointed ones;
do
my prophets no harm."
5
16
He
called down famine on the land
and
destroyed all their supplies of food;
17
and
he sent a man before them--
Joseph,
sold as a slave.
18
They
bruised his feet with shackles,
his
neck was put in irons,
19
till
what he foretold came to pass,
till
the word of the LORD proved him true.
20
The
king sent and released him,
the
ruler of peoples set him free.
21
He
made him master of his household,
ruler
over all he possessed,
22
to
instruct his princes as he pleased
and
teach his elders wisdom.
23
Then
Israel entered Egypt;
Jacob
lived as an alien in the land of Ham.
24
The
LORD made his people very fruitful;
he
made them too numerous for their foes,
2
5whose
hearts he turned to hate his people,
to
conspire against his servants.
26
He
sent Moses his servant,
and
Aaron, whom he had chosen.
27
They
performed his miraculous signs among them,
his
wonders in the land of Ham.
28
He
sent darkness and made the land dark--
for
had they not rebelled against his words?
29
He
turned their waters into blood,
causing
their fish to die.
30
Their
land teemed with frogs,
which
went up into the bedrooms of their rulers.
31
He
spoke, and there came swarms of flies,
and
gnats throughout their country.
32
He
turned their rain into hail,
with
lightning throughout their land; 6
33
he
struck down their vines and fig trees
and
shattered the trees of their country.
34
He
spoke, and the locusts came,
grasshoppers
without number;
35
they
ate up every green thing in their land,
ate
up the produce of their soil.
36
Then
he struck down all the firstborn in their land,
the
firstfruits of all their manhood.
37
He
brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold,
and
from among their tribes no one faltered.
38
Egypt
was glad when they left,
because
dread of Israel had fallen on them.
39
He
spread out a cloud as a covering,
and
a fire to give light at night.
40
They
asked, and he brought them quail
and
satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41
He
opened the rock, and water gushed out;
like
a river it flowed in the desert.
42
For
he remembered his holy promise
given
to his servant Abraham.
43
He
brought out his people with rejoicing,
his
chosen ones with shouts of joy;
44
he
gave them the lands of the nations,
and
they fell heir to what others had toiled for--
45
that
they might keep his precepts
and
observe his laws.

Praise
the LORD. A
Praise
the name of the LORD;
praise
him, you servants of the LORD,
2
you
who minister in the house of the LORD,
in
the courts of the house of our God.
3
Praise
the LORD, for the LORD is good;
sing
praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
4
For
the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own,
Israel
to be his treasured possession.
5
I
know that the LORD is great,
that
our Lord is greater than all gods.
6
The
LORD does whatever pleases him,
in
the heavens and on the earth,
in
the seas and all their depths.
7
He
makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth;
he
sends lightning with the rain
and
brings out the wind from his storehouses.
8
He
struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
the
firstborn of men and animals.
9
He
sent his signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt,
against
Pharaoh and all his servants.
10
He
struck down many nations
and
killed mighty kings--
11
Sihon
king of the Amorites,
Og
king of Bashan
and
all the kings of Canaan--
12
and
he gave their land as an inheritance,
an
inheritance to his people Israel. 8
13
Your
name, O LORD, endures forever,
your
renown, O LORD, through all generations.
14
For
the LORD will vindicate his people
and
have compassion on his servants.
15
The
idols of the nations are silver and gold,
made
by the hands of men.
16
They
have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes,
but they cannot see;
17
they
have ears, but cannot hear,
nor
is there breath in their mouths.
18
Those
who make them will be like them,
and
so will all who trust in them.
19
O
house of Israel, praise the LORD;
O
house of Aaron, praise the LORD;
20
O
house of Levi, praise the LORD;
you
who fear him, praise the LORD.
21
Praise
be to the LORD from Zion,
to
him who dwells in Jerusalem.
Praise
the LORD. 9

OLD
TESTAMENT: HOSEA
1:1 - 3:5
1
1
The
word of the LORD that came to Hosea son of Beeri during the reigns of
Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the
reign of Jeroboam son of Jehoash A
king of Israel:
2
When
the LORD began to speak through Hosea, the LORD said to him, "Go,
take to yourself an adulterous wife and children of unfaithfulness,
because the land is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from
the LORD."
3
So
he married Gomer daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him
a son.
4
Then
the LORD said to Hosea, "Call
him Jezreel, because I will soon punish the house of Jehu for the
massacre at Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel.
5
In
that day I will break Israel's bow in the Valley of Jezreel."
6
Gomer
conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. Then the LORD said to
Hosea, "Call her Lo-Ruhamah,
B
for I will no longer show love to the house of Israel, that I should
at all forgive them.
7
Yet
I will show love to the house of Judah; and I will save them--not by
bow, sword or battle, or by horses and horsemen, but by the LORD
their God."
8
After
she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, Gomer had another son. 9
Then
the LORD said, "Call
him Lo-Ammi,
C
for you are not my people, and I am not your God.
10
"Yet
the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be
measured or counted. In the place where it was said to them, `You are
not my people,' they will be called `sons of the living God.'
11
The
people of Judah and the people of Israel will be reunited, and they
will appoint one leader and will come up out of the land, for great
will be the day of Jezreel.
2
1
"Say
of your brothers, `My people,' and of your sisters, `My loved one.'
2
"Rebuke
your mother, rebuke her,
for
she is not my wife,
and
I am not her husband.
Let
her remove the adulterous look from her face
and
the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.
15
3
Otherwise
I will strip her naked
and
make her as bare as on the day she was born;
I
will make her like a desert,
turn
her into a parched land,
and
slay her with thirst.
4
I
will not show my love to her children,
because
they are the children of adultery.
5
Their
mother has been unfaithful
and
has conceived them in disgrace.
She
said, `I will go after my lovers,
who
give me my food and my water,
my
wool and my linen, my oil and my drink.'
6
Therefore
I will block her path with thornbushes;
I
will wall her in so that she cannot find her way.
7
She
will chase after her lovers but not catch them;
she
will look for them but not find them.
Then
she will say,
`I
will go back to my husband as at first,
for
then I was better off than now.'
8
She
has not acknowledged that I was the one
who
gave her the grain, the new wine and oil,
who
lavished on her the silver and gold--
which
they used for Baal.
9
"Therefore
I will take away my grain when it ripens,
and
my new wine when it is ready.
16
I
will take back my wool and my linen,
intended
to cover her nakedness.
10
So
now I will expose her lewdness
before
the eyes of her lovers;
no
one will take her out of my hands.
11
I
will stop all her celebrations:
her
yearly festivals, her New Moons,
her
Sabbath days--all her appointed feasts.
12
I
will ruin her vines and her fig trees,
which
she said were her pay from her lovers;
I
will make them a thicket,
and
wild animals will devour them.
13
I
will punish her for the days
she
burned incense to the Baals;
she
decked herself with rings and jewelry,
and
went after her lovers,
but
me she forgot,"
declares
the LORD.
14
"Therefore
I am now going to allure her;
I
will lead her into the desert
and
speak tenderly to her.
15
There
I will give her back her vineyards,
and
will make the Valley of Achor A
a door of hope.
There
she will sing B
as
in the days of her youth,
as
in the day she came up out of Egypt.
17
16
"In
that day,"
declares the LORD,
"you
will call me `my husband';
you
will no longer call me `my master.
C'
17
I
will remove the names of the Baals from her lips;
no
longer will their names be invoked.
18
In
that day I will make a covenant for them
with
the beasts of the field and the birds of the air
and
the creatures that move along the ground.
Bow
and sword and battle
I
will abolish from the land,
so
that all may lie down in safety.
19
I
will betroth you to me forever;
I
will betroth you in D
righteousness and justice,
In
E
love and compassion.
20
I
will betroth you in faithfulness,
and
you will acknowledge the LORD.
21
"In
that day I will respond,"
declares
the LORD--
"I
will respond to the skies,
and
they will respond to the earth;
22
and
the earth will respond to the grain,
the
new wine and oil,
and
they will respond to Jezreel.
F
23
I
will plant her for myself in the land;
I
will say to those called `Not my people,
H'
`You
are my people';
and
they will say, `You are my God.'"
3
1
The
LORD said to me, "Go,
show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another and
is an adulteress. Love her as the LORD loves the Israelites, though
they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes."
2
So
I bought her for fifteen shekels A
of silver and about a homer and a lethek B
of barley.
3
Then
I told her, "You are to live with C
me many days; you must not be a prostitute or be intimate with any
man, and I will live with D
you."
4
For
the Israelites will live many days without king or prince, without
sacrifice or sacred stones, without ephod or idol. 5
Afterward
the Israelites will return and seek the LORD their God and David
their king. They will come trembling to the LORD and to his blessings
in the last days. 19
NEW
TESTAMENT:
1 JOHN 5:1 - 21
5
1
Everyone
who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone
who loves the father loves his child as well. 2
This
is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and
carrying out his commands. 3
This
is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not
burdensome, 4
for
everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that
has overcome the world, even our faith.
5
Who
is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is
the Son of God.
6
This
is the one who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ. He did not come
by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who
testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7
For
there are three that testify: 8
the
A
Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9
We
accept man's testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is
the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10
Anyone
who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart.
Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar,
because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his
Son. 11
And
this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life
is in his Son. 12
He
who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does
not have life.
13
I
write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14
This
is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything
according to his will, he hears us. 15
And
if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have
what we asked of him.
16
If
anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he
should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin
does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not
saying that he should pray about that. 17
All
wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.
18
We
know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who
was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. 19
We
know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under
the control of the evil one. 20
We
know also that the Son of God has come and has given us
understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him
who is true--even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and
eternal life.
21
Dear
children, keep yourselves from idols. 20

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
