Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

MAY 20

PSALMS: 20, 50, 80, 110, 140

PROVERBS: 20

OLD TESTAMENT: EZRA 8:1 - 9:15

NEW TESTAMENT: 1 CORINTHIANS 5:1 - 13

PSALMS: 20

1 May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble.

May the name of the God of Ya`akov set you up on high,

2 Send you help from the sanctuary,

Grant you support from Tziyon,

3 Remember all your offerings,

And accept your burnt-sacrifice. Selah.

4 May He grant you your heart's desire,

And fulfill all your counsel.

5 We will triumph in your yeshu`ah.

In the name of our God we will set up our banners:

The LORD fulfill all your petitions.

6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed.

He will answer him from his holy heaven,

With the saving strength of his right hand.

7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses,

But we trust the name of the LORD our God.

8 They are bowed down and fallen,

But we rise up, and stand upright.

9 Save, LORD;

Let the King answer us when we call!

PSALMS: 50

1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks,

And calls the eretz from sunrise to sunset.

2 Out of Tziyon, the perfection of beauty,

God shines forth.

3 Our God comes, and does not keep silent.

A fire devours before him.

It is very tempestuous around him.

4 He calls to the heavens above,

To the eretz, that he may judge his people:

5 "Gather my holy ones together to me,

Those who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice."

6 The heavens shall declare his righteousness,

For God himself is judge.

Selah.

7 "Hear, my people, and I will speak;

Yisra'el, and I will testify against you.

I am God, your God.

8 I don't rebuke you for your sacrifices.

Your burnt offerings are continually before me.

9 I have no need for a bull from your stall,

Nor male goats from your pens.

10 For every animal of the forest is mine,

And the cattle on a thousand hills.

11 I know all the birds of the mountains.

The wild animals of the field are mine.

12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,

For the world is mine, and all that is in it.

13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls,

Or drink the blood of goats?

14 Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving.

Pay your vows to Ha`Elyon.

15 Call on me in the day of trouble.

I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

16 But to the wicked God says,

"What right do you have to declare my statutes,

That you have taken my covenant on your lips,

17  Seeing you hate instruction,

And throw my words behind you?

18 When you saw a thief, you consented with him,

And have participated with adulterers.

19 "You give your mouth to evil.

You harnesses your tongue for deceit.

20 You sit and speak against your brother.

You slander your own mother's son.

21 You have done these things, and I kept silent.

You thought that the "I AM" was just like you.

I will rebuke you, and accuse you in front of your eyes.

22 "Now consider this, you who forget God,

Lest I tear you into pieces, and there be none to deliver.

23 Whoever offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me,

And prepares his way so that I will show God's salvation to him."

PSALMS: 80

1 Hear us, Shepherd of Yisra'el,

You who lead Yosef like a flock,

You who sit above the Keruvim, shine forth.

2 Before Efrayim and Binyamin and Menashsheh,

stir up your might,

Come to save us.

3 Turn us again, God.

Cause your face to shine,

And we will be saved.

4 LORD God Tzva'ot,

How long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?

5 You have fed them with the bread of tears,

And given them tears to drink in large measure.

6 You make us a source of contention to our neighbors.

Our enemies laugh among themselves.

7 Turn us again,

God Tzva'ot.

Cause your face to shine,

And we will be saved.

8 You brought a vine out of Mitzrayim.

You drove out the nations, and planted it.

9 You cleared the ground for it.

It took deep root, and filled the land.

10 The mountains were covered with its shadow.

Its boughs were like God's cedars.

11 It sent out its branches to the sea,

Its shoots to the River.

12 Why have you broken down its walls,

So that all those who pass by the way pluck it?

13 The boar out of the wood ravages it.

The wild animals of the field feed on it.

14 Turn again, we beg you, God Tzva'ot.

Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine,

15 The stock which your right hand planted,

The branch that you made strong for yourself.

16 It is burned with fire. It is cut down.

They perish at your rebuke.

17  Let your hand be on the man of your right hand,

On the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.

18 So we will not turn away from you.

Revive us, and we will call on your name.

19 Turn us again, LORD God Tzva'ot.

Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.

PSALMS: 110

1 The LORD says to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand,

Until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet."

2 The LORD will send forth the rod of your strength out of Tziyon.

Rule in the midst of your enemies.

3 Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power,

In holy array.

Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.

4 The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind:

"You are a Kohen forever in the order of Malki-Tzedek."

5 The Lord is at your right hand.

He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.

6 He will judge among the nations.

He will heap up dead bodies.

He will crush the ruler of the whole eretz.

7 He will drink of the brook in the way;

Therefore will he lift up his head.

PSALMS: 140

1 Deliver me, LORD, from the evil man.

Preserve me from the violent man;

2 Those who devise mischief in their hearts.

They continually gather themselves together for war.

3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent.

Viper's poison is under their lips.

Selah.

4 LORD, keep me from the hands of the wicked.

Preserve me from the violent men:

Who have determined to trip my feet.

5 The proud have hidden a snare for me,

They have spread the cords of a net by the path.

They have set traps for me.

Selah.

6 I said to the LORD,

"You are my God.

" Listen to the cry of my petitions, LORD.

7 LORD, the Lord, the strength of my yeshu`ah,

You have covered my head in the day of battle.

8 LORD, don't grant the desires of the wicked.

Don't let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. Selah.

9 As for the head of those who surround me,

Let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

10 Let burning coals fall on them.

Let them be thrown into the fire,

Into miry pits, from where they never rise.

11 An evil speaker won't be established in the eretz.

Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted,

And justice for the needy.

13 Surely the righteous will give thanks to your name.

The upright will dwell in your presence.

PROVERBS: 20

1 Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler;

Whoever is let astray by them is not wise.

2 The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion:

He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.

3 It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife;

But every fool will be quarreling.

4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter;

Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.

5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water;

But a man of understanding will draw it out.

6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love,

But who can find a faithful man?

7 A righteous man who walks in his integrity,

Blessed are his children after him.

8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment

Scatters away all evil with his eyes.

9 Who can say, "I have made my heart pure.

I am clean and without sin?"

10 Differing weights and differing measures,

Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.

11 Even a child makes himself known by his doings,

Whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.

12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye,

The LORD has made even both of them.

13 Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty;

Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.

14 "It's no good, it's no good," says the buyer;

But when he is gone his way, then he boasts.

15 There is gold and abundance of rubies;

But the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.

16 Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger;

And hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.

17 Fraudulent food is sweet to a man,

But afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.

18 Plans are established by advice;

By wise guidance you wage war!

19 He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets;

Therefore don't keep company with him who opens wide his lips.

20 Whoever curses his father or his mother,

His lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.

21 An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning,

Won't be blessed in the end.

22 Don't say,

"I will pay back evil."

Wait for the LORD, and he will save you.

23 The LORD detests differing weights,

And dishonest scales are not pleasing.

24 A man's steps are from the LORD;

How then can man understand his way?

25 It is a snare to a man make a rash dedication,

And later reconsider his vows.

26 A wise king winnows out the wicked,

And drives the threshing wheel over them.

27 The spirit of man is the LORD's lamp,

Searching all his innermost parts.

28 Love and faithfulness keep the king safe.

His throne is sustained by love.

29 The glory of young men is their strength.

The splendor of old men is their gray hair.

30 Wounding blows cleanse away evil,

And beatings purge the innermost parts.

OLD TESTAMENT: EZRA 8:1 - 9:15

8:1 Now these are the heads of their fathers' [houses], and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Bavel, in the reign of Artachshasta the king: 2 Of the sons of Pinechas, Gershom. Of the sons of Itamar, Daniyel. Of the sons of David, Hattush. 3 Of the sons of Shekhanyahu, of the sons of Par`osh, Zekharyah; and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males one hundred fifty. 4 Of the sons of Pachat-Mo'av, Elyeho`enai the son of Zerachyah; and with him two hundred males. 5 Of the sons of Shekhanyahu, the son of Yachazi'el; and with him three hundred males. 6 Of the sons of `Adin, `Eved the son of Yonatan; and with him fifty males. 7  Of the sons of `Elam, Yesha`yah the son of `Atalyah; and with him seventy males. 8 Of the sons of Shefatyah, Zevadyah the son of Mikha'el; and with him eighty males. 9 Of the sons of Yo'av, `Ovadyah the son of Yechi'el; and with him two hundred and eighteen males. 10 Of the sons of Shelomit, the son of Yosifyah; and with him one hundred sixty males. 11 Of the sons of Bevai, Zekharyah the son of Bevai; and with him twenty-eight males. 12  Of the sons of Azgad, Yochanan the son of Katan; and with him one hundred ten males. 13 Of the sons of Adonikam, [who were] the last; and these are their names: Elifelet, Ye`u'el, and Shemayah; and with them sixty males. 14 Of the sons of Bigvai, `Utai and Zakkur; and with them seventy males. 15 I gathered them together to the river that runs to Ahava; and there we encamped three days: and I viewed the people, and the Kohanim, and found there none of the sons of Levi. 16 Then sent I for Eli`ezer, for Ari'el, for Shemayah, and for Elnatan, and for Yariv, and for Elnatan, and for Natan, and for Zekharyah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Yoiariv, and for Elnatan, who were teachers. 17  I sent them forth to `Iddo the chief at the place Kasifyah; and I told them what they should tell `Iddo, [and] his brothers the temple servants, at the place Kasifyah, that they should bring to us ministers for the house of our God. 18 According to the good hand of our God on us they brought us a man of discretion, of the sons of Machli, the son of Levi, the son of Yisra'el; and Sherevyah, with his sons and his brothers, eighteen; 19 and Hashavyah, and with him Yesha`yah of the sons of Merari, his brothers and their sons, twenty; 20 and of the temple servants, whom David and the princes had given for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty temple servants: all of them were mentioned by name. 21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a straight way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. 22 For I was ashamed to ask of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, The hand of our God is on all those who seek him, for good; but his power and his wrath is against all those who forsake him. 23 So we fasted and begged our God for this: and he was entreated of us. 24 Then I set apart twelve of the chiefs of the Kohanim, even Sherevyah, Hashavyah, and ten of their brothers with them, 25 and weighed to them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering for the house of our God, which the king, and his counselors, and his princes, and all Yisra'el there present, had offered: 26 I weighed into their hand six hundred fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels one hundred talents; of gold one hundred talents; 27  and twenty bowls of gold, of one thousand darics; and two vessels of fine bright brass, precious as gold. 28 I said to them, You are holy to the LORD, and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are a freewill-offering to the LORD, the God of your fathers. 29 Watch you, and keep them, until you weigh them before the chiefs of the Kohanim and the Levites, and the princes of the fathers' [houses] of Yisra'el, at Yerushalayim, in the chambers of the house of the LORD. 30 So the Kohanim and the Levites received the weight of the silver and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Yerushalayim to the house of our God. 31 Then we departed from the river Ahava on the twelfth [day] of the first month, to go to Yerushalayim: and the hand of our God was on us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and the bandit by the way. 32 We came to Yerushalayim, and abode there three days. 33 On the fourth day the silver and the gold and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God into the hand of Meremot the son of Uriyah the Kohen; and with him was El`azar the son of Pinechas; and with them was Yozavad the son of Yeshua, and No`adyah the son of Binnui, the Levite; 34 the whole by number and by weight: and all the weight was written at that time. 35 The children of the captivity, who had come out of exile, offered burnt offerings to the God of Yisra'el, twelve bulls for all Yisra'el, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and twelve male goats for a sin-offering: all this was a burnt offering to the LORD. 36 They delivered the king's commissions to the king's satraps, and to the governors beyond the River: and they furthered the people and the house of God.

9:1 Now when these things were done, the princes drew near to me, saying, The people of Yisra'el, and the Kohanim and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, [doing] according to their abominations, even of the Kana`anim, the Hitti, the Perizzi, the Yevusi, the `Ammonim, the Mo`avim, the Mitzrim, and the Amori. 2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have mixed themselves with the peoples of the lands: yes, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass. 3 When I heard this thing, I tore my garment and my robe, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down confounded. 4 Then were assembled to me everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Yisra'el, because of the trespass of them of the captivity; and I sat confounded until the evening offering. 5 At the evening offering I arose up from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn; and I fell on my knees, and spread out my hands to the LORD my God; 6 and I said, my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God; for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our guiltiness is grown up to the heavens. 7 Since the days of our fathers we have been exceeding guilty to this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our Kohanim, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to plunder, and to confusion of face, as it is this day. 8 Now for a little moment grace has been shown from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage. 9 For we are bondservants; yet our God has not forsaken us in our bondage, but has extended lovingkindness to us in the sight of the kings of Paras, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the ruins of it, and to give us a wall in Yehudah and in Yerushalayim. 10 Now, our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken your mitzvot, 11 which you have commanded by your servants the prophets, saying, The land, to which you go to possess it, is an unclean land through the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, through their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their filthiness: 12 now therefore don't give your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters to your sons, nor seek their shalom or their prosperity forever; that you may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children forever. 13 After all that is come on us for our evil deeds, and for our great guilt, seeing that you our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such a remnant, 14 shall we again break your mitzvot, and join in affinity with the peoples that do these abominations? would not you be angry with us until you had consumed us, so that there should be no remnant, nor any to escape? 15 LORD, the God of Yisra'el, you are righteous; for we are left a remnant that is escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before you in our guiltiness; for none can stand before you because of this.

NEW TESTAMENT: 1 CORINTHIANS 5:1 - 13

5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Goyim, that one has his father's wife. 2 You are puffed up, and didn't rather mourn, that he who had done this deed might be removed from among you. 3 For I most assuredly, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already, as though I were present, judged him who has done this thing. 4 In the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, you being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, 5 are to deliver such a one to Hasatan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Yeshua. 6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump? 7 Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Messiah, our Pesach, has been sacrificed in our place. 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the matzah of sincerity and truth. 9 I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners; 10 yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you would have to leave the world. 11 But as it is, I wrote to you not to keep company, if any man who is named a brother is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Don't even eat with such a person. 12 For what have I to do with also judging those who are outside? Don't you judge those who are within? 13 But those who are outside, God judges. "Put away the wicked man from among yourselves."

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
