For
the director of music. A psalm of David.
1
May
the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may
the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2
May
he send you help from the sanctuary
and
grant you support from Zion.
3
May
he remember all your sacrifices
and
accept your burnt offerings.
Selah
4
May
he give you the desire of your heart
and
make all your plans succeed.
5
We
will shout for joy when you are victorious
and
will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May
the LORD grant all your requests.
6
Now
I know that the LORD saves his anointed;
he
answers him from his holy heaven
with
the saving power of his right hand.
7
Some
trust in chariots and some in horses,
but
we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8
They
are brought to their knees and fall,
but
we rise up and stand firm.
9
O
LORD, save the king!
Answer
A us when we call! [1]
PSALMS: 50
A
psalm of Asaph.
1
The
Mighty One, God, the LORD,
speaks
and summons the earth
from
the rising of the sun to the place where it sets.
2
From
Zion, perfect in beauty,
God
shines forth.
3
Our
God comes and will not be silent;
a
fire devours before him,
and
around him a tempest rages.
4
He
summons the heavens above,
and
the earth, that he may judge his people:
5
"Gather to me my consecrated
ones,
who
made a covenant with me by sacrifice."
6
And
the heavens proclaim his righteousness,
for
God himself is judge.
Selah
7
"Hear, O my people, and I will
speak,
O
Israel, and I will testify against you:
I
am God, your God.
8 I
do not rebuke you for your sacrifices
or
your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.
9 I
have no need of a bull from your stall
or
of goats from your pens,
10 for
every animal of the forest is mine,
and
the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I
know every bird in the mountains,
and
the creatures of the field are mine.
12 If
I were hungry I would not tell you, [2]
for
the world is mine, and all that is in it.
13 Do
I eat the flesh of bulls
or
drink the blood of goats?
14 Sacrifice
thank offerings to God,
fulfill
your vows to the Most High,
15 and
call upon me in the day of trouble;
I
will deliver you, and you will honor me."
16
But
to the wicked, God says:
"What right have you to recite my
laws
or
take my covenant on your lips?
17 You
hate my instruction
and
cast my words behind you.
18 When
you see a thief, you join with him;
you
throw in your lot with adulterers.
19 You
use your mouth for evil
and
harness your tongue to deceit.
20 You
speak continually against your brother
and
slander your own mother's son.
21 These
things you have done and I kept silent;
you
thought I was altogether A
like you.
But
I will rebuke you
and
accuse you to your face.
22
"Consider this, you who forget
God,
or
I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue:
23 He
who sacrifices thank offerings honors me,
and
he prepares the way

For
the director of music. To the tune of "The Lilies of the Covenant." Of Asaph. A
psalm.
1
Hear
us, O Shepherd of Israel,
you
who lead Joseph like a flock;
you
who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth
2
before
Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.
Awaken
your might;
come
and save us.
3
Restore
us, O God;
make
your face shine upon us,
that
we may be saved.
4
O
LORD God Almighty,
how
long will your anger smolder
against
the prayers of your people?
5
You
have fed them with the bread of tears;
you
have made them drink tears by the bowlful.
6
You
have made us a source of contention to our neighbors,
and
our enemies mock us.
7
Restore
us, O God Almighty;
make
your face shine upon us,
that
we may be saved.
8
You
brought a vine out of Egypt;
you
drove out the nations and planted it.
9
You
cleared the ground for it,
and
it took root and filled the land.
10
The
mountains were covered with its shade,
the
mighty cedars with its branches. [4]
11
It
sent out its boughs to the Sea, A
its
shoots as far as the River. B
12
Why
have you broken down its walls
so
that all who pass by pick its grapes?
13
Boars
from the forest ravage it
and
the creatures of the field feed on it.
14
Return
to us, O God Almighty!
Look
down from heaven and see!
Watch
over this vine,
15
the
root your right hand has planted,
the
son C you have raised up for yourself.
16
Your
vine is cut down, it is burned with fire;
at
your rebuke your people perish.
17
Let
your hand rest on the man at your right hand,
the
son of man you have raised up for yourself.
18
Then
we will not turn away from you;
revive
us, and we will call on your name.
19
Restore
us, O LORD God Almighty;
make
your face shine upon us,
that
we may be saved. [5]
PSALMS: 110
Of
David. A psalm.
1
The
LORD says to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand
until
I make your enemies
a
footstool for your feet."
2
The
LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion;
you
will rule in the midst of your enemies.
3
Your
troops will be willing
on
your day of battle.
Arrayed
in holy majesty,
from
the womb of the dawn
you
will receive the dew of your youth. A
4
The
LORD has sworn
and
will not change his mind:
"You are a priest forever,
in
the order of Melchizedek."
5
The
Lord is at your right hand;
he
will crush kings on the day of his wrath.
6
He
will judge the nations, heaping up the dead
and
crushing the rulers of the whole earth.
7
He
will drink from a brook beside the way B;
therefore
he will lift up his head. [6]

For
the director of music. A psalm of David.
1
Rescue
me, O LORD, from evil men;
protect
me from men of violence,
2
who
devise evil plans in their hearts
and
stir up war every day.
3
They
make their tongues as sharp as a serpent's;
the
poison of vipers is on their lips.
Selah
4
Keep
me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked;
protect
me from men of violence
who
plan to trip my feet.
5
Proud
men have hidden a snare for me;
they
have spread out the cords of their net
and
have set traps for me along my path.
Selah
6
O
LORD, I say to you, "You are my God."
Hear,
O LORD, my cry for mercy.
7
O
Sovereign LORD, my strong deliverer,
who
shields my head in the day of battle--
8
do
not grant the wicked their desires, O LORD;
do
not let their plans succeed,
or
they will become proud.
Selah
9
Let
the heads of those who surround me
be
covered with the trouble their lips have caused.
10Let
burning coals fall upon them;
may
they be thrown into the fire,
into
miry pits, never to rise. [7]
11
Let
slanderers not be established in the land;
may
disaster hunt down men of violence.
12
I
know that the LORD secures justice for the poor
and
upholds the cause of the needy.
13
Surely
the righteous will praise your name
and
the upright will live before you. [8]

1
Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler;
whoever
is led astray by them is not wise.
2
A
king's wrath is like the roar of a lion;
he
who angers him forfeits his life.

It
is to a man's honor to avoid strife,
but
every fool is quick to quarrel.

A
sluggard does not plow in season;
so
at harvest time he looks but finds nothing.

The
purposes of a man's heart are deep waters,
but
a man of understanding draws them out.

Many
a man claims to have unfailing love,
but
a faithful man who can find?

The

he

I
am clean and without sin"?
10
Differing
weights and differing measures--
the
LORD detests them both.
11
Even
a child is known by his actions,
by
whether his conduct is pure and right. [9]
12
Ears
that hear and eyes that see--
the
LORD has made them both.

The
LORD detests differing weights,
and
dishonest scales do not please him.
24
A
man's steps are directed by the LORD.
How
then can anyone understand his own way?
25
It
is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly

only later to consider his vows.
26
A
wise king winnows out the wicked;
he
drives the threshing wheel over them.

OLD
TESTAMENT: EXODUS 29:1 - 30:10
29
1
"This is what you are to do to consecrate them, so they may
serve me as priests: Take a young bull and two rams without defect.
2
And from fine wheat flour, without yeast, make bread, and cakes mixed with oil,
and wafers spread with oil.
3 Put them in a basket and present them in
it--along with the bull and the two rams. 4 Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent
of Meeting and wash them with water. 5 Take the garments and dress Aaron with the tunic, the robe
of the ephod, the ephod itself and the breastpiece. Fasten the ephod on him by
its skillfully woven waistband. 6
Put the turban on his head and attach the sacred diadem to the turban.
7 Take the anointing oil and anoint him by
pouring it on his head. 8 Bring his
sons and dress them in tunics
9 and
put headbands on them. Then tie sashes on Aaron and his sons.
A The priesthood is theirs by a lasting
ordinance. In this way you shall ordain Aaron and his sons.
10
"Bring the bull to the front of the Tent of Meeting, and
Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head. 11 Slaughter it in the LORD's presence at the entrance to the
Tent of Meeting. 12 Take some of the
bull's blood and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger, and pour out
the rest of it at the base of the altar. 13 Then take all the fat around the inner parts, the covering
of the liver, and both kidneys with the fat on them, and burn them on the altar.
14 But burn the bull's flesh and its
hide and its offal outside the camp. It is a sin offering.
15
"Take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their
hands on its head. 16Slaughter it and take the blood and sprinkle it
against the altar on all sides. 17
Cut the ram into pieces and wash the inner parts and the legs, putting them with
the head and the other pieces. 18
Then burn the entire ram on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the LORD, a
pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire.
19
"Take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their
hands on its head. 20 Slaughter it,
take some of its blood and put it on the lobes of the right ears of Aaron and
his sons, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right
feet. Then sprinkle blood against the altar on all sides.
21 And take some of the blood on the altar
and some of the anointing oil and sprinkle it on Aaron and his garments and on
his sons and their garments. Then he and his sons and their garments will be
consecrated.
22
"Take from this ram the fat, the fat tail, the fat around the
inner parts, the covering of the liver, both kidneys with the fat on them, and
the right thigh. (This is the ram for the ordination.) 23 From the basket of bread made without yeast, which is
before the LORD, take a loaf, and a cake made with oil, and a wafer.
24 Put all these in the hands of Aaron and
his sons and wave them before the LORD as a wave offering.
25 Then take them from their hands and burn
them on the altar along with the burnt offering for a pleasing aroma to the
LORD, an offering made to the LORD by fire. 26 After you take the breast of the ram for Aaron's
ordination, wave it before the LORD as a wave offering, and it will be your
share.
27
"Consecrate those parts of the ordination ram that belong to
Aaron and his sons: the breast that was waved and the thigh that was
presented. 28 This is always to be
the regular share from the Israelites for Aaron and his sons. It is the
contribution the Israelites are to make to [12] the LORD from their fellowship offerings.
B
29
"Aaron's sacred garments will belong to his descendants so
that they can be anointed and ordained in them. 30 The son who succeeds him as priest and comes to the Tent of
Meeting to minister in the Holy Place is to wear them seven days.
31
"Take the ram for the ordination and cook the meat in a
sacred place. 32 At the entrance to
the Tent of Meeting, Aaron and his sons are to eat the meat of the ram and the
bread that is in the basket. 33 They
are to eat these offerings by which atonement was made for their ordination and
consecration. But no one else may eat them, because they are sacred.
34 And if any of the meat of the ordination
ram or any bread is left over till morning, burn it up. It must not be eaten,
because it is sacred.
35
"Do for Aaron and his sons everything I have commanded you,
taking seven days to ordain them. 36
Sacrifice a bull each day as a sin offering to make atonement. Purify the altar
by making atonement for it, and anoint it to consecrate it.
37 For seven days make atonement for the
altar and consecrate it. Then the altar will be most holy, and whatever touches
it will be holy.
38
"This is what you are to offer on the altar regularly each
day: two lambs a year old.
39
Offer one in the morning and the other at twilight. 40With the first
lamb offer a tenth of an ephah C
of fine flour mixed with a quarter of a hin D
of oil from pressed olives, and a quarter of a hin of wine as a drink
offering.
41 Sacrifice the other lamb at twilight
with the same grain offering and its drink offering as in the morning--a
pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire.
42
"For the generations to come this burnt offering is to be
made regularly at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting before the LORD. There I
will meet you and speak to you; 43
there also I will meet with the Israelites, and the place will be consecrated by
my glory.
44
"So I will consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar and
will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests.
45 Then I will dwell among the Israelites
and be their God. 46 They will know
that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might
dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.

"Make an altar of acacia wood for burning incense.
2 It is to be square, a cubit long and a
cubit wide, and two cubits high A--its horns of one piece with it. 3 Overlay the top and all the sides and the horns with pure
gold, and make a gold molding around it.
4
Make two gold rings for the altar below the molding--two on opposite sides--to
hold the poles used to carry it.
5 Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay
them with gold.
6
Put the altar in front of the curtain that is before the ark of the
Testimony--before the atonement 7
"Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning
when he tends the lamps. 8 He must
burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn
regularly before the LORD for the generations to come. 9 Do not offer on this altar any other incense or any burnt
offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it.
10 Once a year Aaron shall make atonement
on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning
sin offering for the generations to come. It is most holy to the
LORD."
NEW
TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 26:14 -
46
14
Then
one of the Twelve--the one called Judas Iscariot--went to the chief priests
15
and
asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" So they
counted out for him thirty silver coins. 16 From then on Judas
watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
17
On
the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and
asked, "Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?"
18
He
replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell
him, `The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the
Passover with my disciples at your house.'" 19 So the
disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.
20
When
evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. 21
And while they were eating, he said, "I tell you
the truth, one of you will betray me."
22
They
were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, "Surely not I, Lord?"
23
Jesus
replied, "The one who has dipped his hand into the
bowl with me will betray me. 24 The
Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who
betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been
born."
25
Then
Judas, the one who would betray him, said, "Surely not I, Rabbi?"
Jesus
answered, "Yes, it is you." A
26
While
they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his
disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my
body."
27
Then
he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the B covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness
of sins. 29 I tell you, I will not
drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew
with you in my Father's kingdom."
30When
they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31
Then
Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall
away on account of me, for it is written:
"`I
will strike the shepherd,
and
the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'
C
32
But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
33
Peter
replied, "Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will."
34
"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown
me three times."
35
But
Peter declared, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And
all the other disciples said the same. [13]
36
Then
Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them,
"Sit here while I go over there and pray."
37
He
took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be
sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.
Stay here and keep watch with me."
39
Going
a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.
Yet not as I will, but as you will."
40
Then
he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?"
he asked Peter. 41 "Watch and pray so that
you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is
weak."
42
He
went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it
is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will
be done."
43
When
he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy.
44
So
he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same
thing.
45
Then
he returned to the disciples and said to them, "Are
you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is
betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us go! Here comes my betrayer!" [14]

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
