THEinc-HIM Daily Bible Meditation - June 23 - Full Text - Shabbat Shalom!

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

JUNE 23

PSALMS:   23, 53, 83, 113, 143

PROVERBS:  23

OLD TESTAMENT:  ISAIAH 10:1 - 11:16

NEW TESTAMENT:  2 CORINTHIANS 12:11 - 21

PSALMS:  23

1 The LORD is my shepherd:
I shall lack nothing.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You have anointed my head with oil.
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the LORD's house forever.

PSALMS:  53

1 The fool has said in his heart,
"There is no God."
They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity.
There is no one who does good.
2 God looks down from heaven on the children of men,
To see if there are any who understood, Who seek after God.
3 Every one of them has gone back.
They have become filthy together.
There is no one who does good, no, not one.
4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge,
Who eat up my people as they eat bread,
And don't call on God?
5 There they were in great fear, where no fear was,
For God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you.
You have put them to shame,
Because God has rejected them.
6 Oh that the yeshu`ah of Yisra'el would come out of Tziyon!
When God brings back the captivity of his people,
Then shall Ya`akov rejoice.
Yisra'el shall be glad.

PSALMS:  83

1 God, don't keep silent.
Don't keep silent, and don't be still, God.
2 For, behold, your enemies are stirred up.
Those who hate you have lifted up their heads.
3 They conspire with cunning against your people.
They plot against your cherished ones.
4 "Come," they say, "and let us destroy them as a nation,
That the name of Yisra'el may be remembered no more."
5 For they have conspired together with one mind.
They form an alliance against you.
6 The tents of Edom and the Yishme`elim;
Mo'av, and the Hagrim;
7 Geval, `Ammon, and `Amalek;
Peleshet with the inhabitants of Tzor;
8 Ashshur also is joined with them.
They have helped the children of Lot.
Selah.
9 Do to them as you did to Midyan,
As to Sisera, as to Yavin, at the river Kishon;
10 Who perished at `En-Dor,
Who became as dung for the eretz.
11 Make their nobles like `Orev and Ze'ev;
Yes, all their princes like Zevach and Tzalmunnah;
12 Who said, "Let us take possession
Of God's pasturelands."
13 My God, make them like tumbleweed;
Like chaff before the wind.
14 As the fire that burns the forest,
As the flame that sets the mountains on fire,
15 So pursue them with your tempest,
Terrify them with your storm.
16 Fill their faces with confusion,
That they may seek your name, LORD.
17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever.
Yes, let them be confounded and perish;
18 That they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD,
Are Ha`Elyon over all the eretz.

PSALMS:  113

1 Praise the LORD!
Praise, you servants of the LORD,
Praise the name of the LORD.
2 Blessed be the name of the LORD,
From this time forth and forevermore.
3 From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same,
The LORD's name is to be praised.
4 The LORD is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the LORD, our God,
Who has his seat on high,
6 Who stoops down to see in heaven and in the eretz?
7 He raises up the poor out of the dust.
Lifts up the needy from the ash heap;
8 That he may set him with princes,
Even with the princes of his people.
9 He settles the barren woman in her home,
As a joyful mother of children.
Praise the LORD!

PSALMS:  143

1 Hear my prayer, LORD.
Listen to my petitions.
In your faithfulness and righteousness, relieve me.
2 Don't enter into judgment with your servant,
For in your sight no man living is righteous.
3 For the enemy pursues my soul.
He has struck my life down to the ground.
He has made me live in dark places,
as those who have been long dead.
4 Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me.
My heart within me is desolate.
5 I remember the days of old.
I meditate on all your doings.
I contemplate the work of your hands.
6 I spread forth my hands to you.
My soul thirsts for you, like a parched land.
Selah.
7 Hurry to answer me, LORD.
My spirit fails.
Don't hide your face from me,
So that I don't become like those who go down into the pit.
8 Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning,
For I trust in you.
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to you.
9 Deliver me, LORD, from my enemies.
I flee to you to hide me.
10 Teach me to do your will,
For you are my God.
Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness.
11 Revive me, LORD, for your name's sake.
In your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble.
12 In your loving kindness, cut off my enemies,
And destroy all those who afflict my soul,
For I am your servant.

PROVERBS:  23

1 When you sit to eat with a ruler,
Consider diligently what is before you;
2 Put a knife to your throat,
If you are a man given to appetite.
3 Don't be desirous of his dainties,
Seeing they are deceitful food.
4 Don't weary yourself to be rich.
In your wisdom, show restraint
5 Why do you set your eyes on that which is not?
For it certainly sprouts wings like an eagle and flies in the sky.
6 Don't eat the food of him who has a stingy eye,
And don't crave his delicacies:
7 For as he thinks about the cost, so he is.
"Eat and drink!" he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.
8 The morsel which you have eaten you shall vomit up,
And lose your good words.
9 Don't speak in the ears of a fool,
For he will despise the wisdom of your words.
10 Don't move the ancient boundary stone.
Don't encroach on the fields of the fatherless:
11 For their Defender is strong.
He will plead their case against you.
12 Apply your heart to instruction,
And your ears to the words of knowledge.
13 Don't withhold correction from a child.
If you punish him with the rod, he will not die.
14 Punish him with the rod,
And save his soul from She'ol
15 My son, if your heart is wise,
Then my heart will be glad, even mine:
16 Yes, my heart will rejoice,
When your lips speak what is right.
17 Don't let your heart envy sinners;
But rather fear the LORD all the day long.
18 Indeed surely there is a future hope,
And your hope will not be cut off.
19 Listen, my son, and be wise,
And keep your heart on the right path
20 Don't be among ones drinking too much wine,
Or those who gorge themselves on meat:
21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor;
And drowsiness clothes them in rags
22 Listen to your father who gave you life,
And don't despise your mother when she is old.
23 Buy the truth, and don't sell it:
Get wisdom, discipline, and understanding.
24 The father of the righteous has great joy.
Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him.
25 Let your father and your mother be glad!
Let her who bore you rejoice!
26 My son, give me your heart;
And let your eyes keep in my ways.
27 For a prostitute is a deep pit;
And a wayward wife is a narrow well.
28 Yes, she lies in wait like a robber,
And increases the unfaithful among men.
29 Who has woe?
Who has sorrow?
Who has strife?
Who has complaints?
Who has needless bruises?
Who has bloodshot eyes?
30 Those who stay long at the wine;
Those who go to seek out mixed wine.
31 Don't look at the wine when it is red,
When it sparkles in the cup,
When it goes down smoothly:
32 At the last it bites like a snake,
And poisons like a viper.
33 Your eyes will see strange things,
And your mind will imagine confusing things.
34 Yes, you will be as he who lies down in the midst of the sea,
Or as he who lies on top of the rigging:
35 "They hit me, and I was not hurt;
They beat me, and I don't feel it!
When will I wake up?
I can do it again.
I can find another."

OLD TESTAMENT:  ISAIAH 10:1 - 11:16

11:1 Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write perverseness; 2 to turn aside the needy from justice, and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey! 3 What will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will you flee for help? and where will you leave your glory? 4 They shall only bow down under the prisoners, and shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 5 Ho Ashshur, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation! 6 I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 However he doesn't mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations. 8 For he says, Aren't my princes all of them kings? 9 Isn't Kalno as Karkemish? Isn't Hamat as Arpad? Isn't Shomron as Dammesek? 10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose engraved images did excel them of Yerushalayim and of Shomron; 11 shall I not, as I have done to Shomron and her idols, so do to Yerushalayim and her idols? 12 Therefore it shall happen that, when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Tziyon and on Yerushalayim, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Ashshur, and the glory of his high looks. 13 For he has said, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding: and I have removed the bounds of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures, and like a valiant man I have brought down those who sit [on thrones]: 14 and my hand has found as a nest the riches of the peoples; and as one gathers eggs that are forsaken, have I gathered all the eretz: and there was none that moved the wing, or that opened the mouth, or chirped. 15 Shall the ax boast itself against him who hews therewith? Shall the saw magnify itself against him who wields it? as if a rod should wield those who lift it up, [or] as if a staff should lift up [him who is] not wood. 16 Therefore will the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory there shall be kindled a burning like the burning of fire. 17 The light of Yisra'el will be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day. 18 He will consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and it shall be as when a standard-bearer faints. 19 The remnant of the trees of his forest shall be few, so that a child may write them. 20 It shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Yisra'el, and those who are escaped of the house of Ya`akov, shall no more again lean on him who struck them, but shall lean on the LORD, the Holy One of Yisra'el, in truth. 21 A remnant shall return, [even] the remnant of Ya`akov, to the mighty God. 22 For though your people, Yisra'el, be as the sand of the sea, [only] a remnant of them shall return: a destruction [is] determined, overflowing with righteousness. 23 For a full end, and that determined, will the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, make in the midst of all the eretz. 24 Therefore thus says the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, my people who dwell in Tziyon, don't be afraid of the Ashshur, though he strike you with the rod, and lift up his staff against you, after the manner of Mitzrayim. 25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation [against you] shall be accomplished, and my anger [shall be directed] to his destruction. 26 The LORD of Hosts will stir up against him a scourge, as in the slaughter of Midyan at the rock of `Orev: and his rod will be over the sea, and he will lift it up after the manner of Mitzrayim. 27 It shall happen in that day, that his burden shall depart from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed by reason of fatness. 28 He is come to `Ayat, he is passed through Migron; at Mikhmash he lays up his baggage; 29 they are gone over the pass; they have taken up their lodging at Geva; Ramah trembles; Gevah of Sha'ul is fled. 30 Cry aloud with your voice, daughter of Gallim! listen, Layshah! You poor `Anatot! 31 Madmenah is a fugitive; the inhabitants of Gevim flee for safety. 32 This very day shall he halt at Nov: he shakes his hand at the mountain of the daughter of Tziyon, the hill of Yerushalayim.
33 Behold, the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, will lop the boughs with terror: and the high of stature shall be hewn down, and the lofty shall be brought low. 34 He will cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Levanon shall fall by a mighty one.

12:1 There shall come forth a netzer out of the stock of Yishai, and a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. 3 His delight shall be in the fear of the LORD; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears; 4 but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the eretz; and he shall strike the eretz with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips shall he kill the wicked. 5 Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins. 6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 The cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the eretz shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10 It shall happen in that day, that the root of Yishai, who stands for an ensign of the peoples, to him shall the nations seek; and his resting-place shall be glorious. 11 It shall happen in that day, that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Ashshur, and from Mitzrayim, and from Patros, and from Kush, and from `Elam, and from Shin`ar, and from Hamat, and from the islands of the sea. 12 He will set up an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Yisra'el, and gather together the dispersed of Yehudah from the four corners of the eretz. 13 The envy also of Efrayim shall depart, and those who vex Yehudah shall be cut off: Efrayim shall not envy Yehudah, and Yehudah shall not vex Efrayim. 14 They shall fly down on the shoulder of the Pelishtim on the west; together shall they despoil the children of the east: they shall put forth their hand on Edom and Mo'av; and the children of `Ammon shall obey them. 15 The LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Mitzrian sea; and with his scorching wind will he wave his hand over the River, and will strike it into seven streams, and cause men to march over in sandals. 16 There shall be a highway for the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Ashshur; like as there was for Yisra'el in the day that he came up out of the land of Mitzrayim.

NEW TESTAMENT:  2 CORINTHIANS 12:11 - 21

12:11 I have become foolish in boasting. You compelled me, for I ought to have been commended by you, for in nothing was I behind the very best apostles, though I am nothing.
12 Truly the signs of an apostle were worked among you in all patience, in signs and wonders and mighty works.
13 For what is there in which you were made inferior to the rest of the assemblies, unless it is that I myself was not a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong.
14 Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I seek not your possessions, but you. For the children ought not to save up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
15 I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more abundantly, am I loved the less?
16 But be it so, I did not myself burden you. But, being crafty, I caught you with deception.
17 Did I take advantage of you by anyone of them whom I have sent to you?
18 I exhorted Titus, and I sent the brother with him. Did Titus take any advantage of you? Didn't we walk in the same spirit? Didn't we walk in the same steps?
19 Again, do you think that we are excusing ourselves to you? In the sight of God we speak in Messiah. But all things, beloved, are for your edifying.
20 For I am afraid that by any means, when I come, I might find you not the way I want to, and that I might be found by you as you don't desire; that by any means there would be strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, whisperings, proud thoughts, riots;
21 that again when I come my God would humble me before you, and I would mourn for many of those who have sinned before now, and not repented of the uncleanness and sexual immorality and lustfulness which they committed.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
