1 May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble.
May the name of the God of Ya`akov set you up on high,
2 Send you help from the sanctuary,
Grant you support from Tziyon,
3 Remember all your offerings,
And accept your burnt-sacrifice. Selah.
4 May He grant you your heart's desire,
And fulfill all your counsel.
5 We will triumph in your yeshu`ah.
In the name of our God we will set up our banners:
The LORD fulfill all your petitions.
6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed.
He will answer him from his holy heaven,
With the saving strength of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses,
But we trust the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are bowed down and fallen,
But we rise up, and stand upright.
9 Save, LORD;
Let the King answer us when we call!
PSALMS: 50
1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks,
And calls the eretz from sunrise to sunset.
2 Out of Tziyon, the perfection of beauty,
God shines forth.
3 Our God comes, and does not keep silent.
A fire devours before him.
It is very tempestuous around him.
4 He calls to the heavens above,
To the eretz, that he may judge his people:
5 "Gather my holy ones together to me,
Those who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice."
6 The heavens shall declare his righteousness,
For God himself is judge.
Selah.
7 "Hear, my people, and I will speak;
Yisra'el, and I will testify against you.
I am God, your God.
8 I don't rebuke you for your sacrifices.
Your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9 I have no need for a bull from your stall,
Nor male goats from your pens.
10 For every animal of the forest is mine,
And the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know all the birds of the mountains.
The wild animals of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
For the world is mine, and all that is in it.
13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls,
Or drink the blood of goats?
14 Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving.
Pay your vows to Ha`Elyon.
15 Call on me in the day of trouble.
I will deliver you, and you will honor me."
16 But to the wicked God says,
"What right do you have to declare my statutes,
That you have taken my covenant on your lips,
17 Seeing you hate instruction,
And throw my words behind you?
18 When you saw a thief, you consented with him,
And have participated with adulterers.
19 "You give your mouth to evil.
You harnesses your tongue for deceit.
20 You sit and speak against your brother.
You slander your own mother's son.
21 You have done these things, and I kept silent.
You thought that the "I AM" was just like you.
I will rebuke you, and accuse you in front of your eyes.
22 "Now consider this, you who forget God,
Lest I tear you into pieces, and there be none to deliver.
23 Whoever offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me,
And prepares his way so that I will show God's salvation to him."
PSALMS: 80
1 Hear us, Shepherd of Yisra'el,
You who lead Yosef like a flock,
You who sit above the Keruvim, shine forth.
2 Before Efrayim and Binyamin and Menashsheh,
stir up your might,
Come to save us.
3 Turn us again, God.
Cause your face to shine,
And we will be saved.
4 LORD God Tzva'ot,
How long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?
5 You have fed them with the bread of tears,
And given them tears to drink in large measure.
6 You make us a source of contention to our neighbors.
Our enemies laugh among themselves.
7 Turn us again,
God Tzva'ot.
Cause your face to shine,
And we will be saved.
8 You brought a vine out of Mitzrayim.
You drove out the nations, and planted it.
9 You cleared the ground for it.
It took deep root, and filled the land.
10 The mountains were covered with its shadow.
Its boughs were like God's cedars.
11 It sent out its branches to the sea,
Its shoots to the River.
12 Why have you broken down its walls,
So that all those who pass by the way pluck it?
13 The boar out of the wood ravages it.
The wild animals of the field feed on it.
14 Turn again, we beg you, God Tzva'ot.
Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine,
15 The stock which your right hand planted,
The branch that you made strong for yourself.
16 It is burned with fire. It is cut down.
They perish at your rebuke.
17 Let your hand be on the man of your right hand,
On the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.
18 So we will not turn away from you.
Revive us, and we will call on your name.
19 Turn us again, LORD God Tzva'ot.
Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
PSALMS: 110
1 The LORD says to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand,
Until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet."
2 The LORD will send forth the rod of your strength out of Tziyon.
Rule in the midst of your enemies.
3 Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power,
In holy array.
Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.
4 The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind:
"You are a Kohen forever in the order of Malki-Tzedek."
5 The Lord is at your right hand.
He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.
6 He will judge among the nations.
He will heap up dead bodies.
He will crush the ruler of the whole eretz.
7 He will drink of the brook in the way;
Therefore will he lift up his head.
PSALMS: 140
1 Deliver me, LORD, from the evil man.
Preserve me from the violent man;
2 Those who devise mischief in their hearts.
They continually gather themselves together for war.
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent.
Viper's poison is under their lips.
Selah.
4 LORD, keep me from the hands of the wicked.
Preserve me from the violent men:
Who have determined to trip my feet.
5 The proud have hidden a snare for me,
They have spread the cords of a net by the path.
They have set traps for me.
Selah.
6 I said to the LORD,
"You are my God.
" Listen to the cry of my petitions, LORD.
7 LORD, the Lord, the strength of my yeshu`ah,
You have covered my head in the day of battle.
8 LORD, don't grant the desires of the wicked.
Don't let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. Selah.
9 As for the head of those who surround me,
Let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 Let burning coals fall on them.
Let them be thrown into the fire,
Into miry pits, from where they never rise.
11 An evil speaker won't be established in the eretz.
Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted,
And justice for the needy.
13 Surely the righteous will give thanks to your name.
The upright will dwell in your presence.
PROVERBS: 20
1 Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler;
Whoever is let astray by them is not wise.
2 The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion:
He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
3 It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife;
But every fool will be quarreling.
4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter;
Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water;
But a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love,
But who can find a faithful man?
7 A righteous man who walks in his integrity,
Blessed are his children after him.
8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment
Scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9 Who can say, "I have made my heart pure.
I am clean and without sin?"
10 Differing weights and differing measures,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
11 Even a child makes himself known by his doings,
Whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye,
The LORD has made even both of them.
13 Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty;
Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14 "It's no good, it's no good," says the buyer;
But when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15 There is gold and abundance of rubies;
But the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
16 Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger;
And hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
17 Fraudulent food is sweet to a man,
But afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18 Plans are established by advice;
By wise guidance you wage war!
19 He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets;
Therefore don't keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
20 Whoever curses his father or his mother,
His lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21 An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning,
Won't be blessed in the end.
22 Don't say,
"I will pay back evil."
Wait for the LORD, and he will save you.
23 The LORD detests differing weights,
And dishonest scales are not pleasing.
24 A man's steps are from the LORD;
How then can man understand his way?
25 It is a snare to a man make a rash dedication,
And later reconsider his vows.
26 A wise king winnows out the wicked,
And drives the threshing wheel over them.
27 The spirit of man is the LORD's lamp,
Searching all his innermost parts.
28 Love and faithfulness keep the king safe.
His throne is sustained by love.
29 The glory of young men is their strength.
The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30 Wounding blows cleanse away evil,
And beatings purge the innermost parts.
OLD TESTAMENT: 1 SAMUEL 12:1 - 13:23
12:1 Shemu'el said to all Yisra'el, Behold, I have listened to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you. 2 Now, behold, the king walks before you; and I am old and gray-headed; and, behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my youth to this day. 3 Here I am: witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose donkey have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I taken a ransom to blind my eyes therewith? and I will restore it you. 4 They said, You have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything of any man's hand. 5 He said to them, the LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand. They said, He is witness. 6 Shemu'el said to the people, It is the LORD who appointed Moshe and Aharon, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Mitzrayim. 7 Now therefore stand still, that I may plead with you before the LORD concerning all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers. 8 When Ya`akov was come into Mitzrayim, and your fathers cried to the LORD, then the LORD sent Moshe and Aharon, who brought forth your fathers out of Mitzrayim, and made them to dwell in this place. 9 But they forgot the LORD their God; and he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hatzor, and into the hand of the Pelishtim, and into the hand of the king of Mo'av; and they fought against them. 10 They cried to the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD, and have served the Ba`alim and the `Ashtarot: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve you. 11 The LORD sent Yerubba`al, and Bedan, and Yiftach, and Shemu'el, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side; and you lived in safety.
12 When you saw that Nachash the king of the children of `Ammon came against you, you said to me, No, but a king shall reign over us; when the LORD your God was your king. 13 Now therefore see the king whom you have chosen, and whom you have asked for: and, behold, the LORD has set a king over you. 14 If you will fear the LORD, and serve him, and listen to his voice, and not rebel against the mitzvah of the LORD, and both you and also the king who reigns over you are followers of the LORD your God, [well]: 15 but if you will not listen to the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the mitzvah of the LORD, then will the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers. 16 Now therefore stand still and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes. 17 Isn't it wheat harvest today? I will call to the LORD, that he may send thunder and rain; and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king. 18 So Shemu'el called to the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Shemu'el. 19 All the people said to Shemu'el, Pray for your servants to the LORD your God, that we not die; for we have added to all our sins [this] evil, to ask us a king. 20 Shemu'el said to the people, "Don't be afraid; you have indeed done all this evil; yet don't turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart: 21 and don't turn aside; for [then would you go] after vain things which can't profit nor deliver, for they are vain. 22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you a people to himself. 23 Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will instruct you in the good and the right way. 24 Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider how great things he has done for you. 25 But if you shall still do wickedly, you shall be consumed, both you and your king."
13:1 Sha'ul was [forty] years old when he began to reign; and when he had reigned two years over Yisra'el, 2 Sha'ul chose him three thousand men of Yisra'el, whereof two thousand were with Sha'ul in Mikhmash and in the Mount of Beit-El, and one thousand were with Yonatan in Gevah of Binyamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent. 3 Yonatan struck the garrison of the Pelishtim that was in Geva: and the Pelishtim heard of it. Sha'ul blew the shofar throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear. 4 All Yisra'el heard say that Sha'ul had struck the garrison of the Pelishtim, and also that Yisra'el was had in abomination with the Pelishtim. The people were gathered together after Sha'ul to Gilgal. 5 The Pelishtim assembled themselves together to fight with Yisra'el, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea-shore in multitude: and they came up, and encamped in Mikhmash, eastward of Beit-Aven. 6 When the men of Yisra'el saw that they were in a strait (for the people were distressed), then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in coverts, and in pits. 7 Now some of the Hebrews had gone over the Yarden to the land of Gad and Gil`ad; but as for Sha'ul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling. 8 He stayed seven days, according to the set time that Shemu'el [had appointed]: but Shemu'el didn't come to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. 9Sha'ul said, Bring here the burnt offering to me, and the peace-offerings. He offered the burnt offering.10 It came to pass that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Shemu'el came; and Sha'ul went out to meet him, that he might greet him. 11 Shemu'el said, What have you done? Sha'ul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you didn't come within the days appointed, and that the Pelishtim assembled themselves together at Mikhmash; 12 therefore said I, Now will the Pelishtim come down on me to Gilgal, and I haven't entreated the favor of the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered the burnt offering. 13 Shemu'el said to Sha'ul, You have done foolishly; you have not kept the mitzvah of the LORD your God, which he commanded you: for now would the LORD have established your kingdom on Yisra'el forever. 14 But now your kingdom shall not continue: the LORD has sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept that which the LORD commanded you. 15 Shemu'el arose, and got him up from Gilgal to Gevah of Binyamin. Sha'ul numbered the people who were present with him, about six hundred men. 16 Sha'ul, and Yonatan his son, and the people who were present with them, abode in Geva of Binyamin: but the Pelishtim encamped in Mikhmash. 17 The spoilers came out of the camp of the Pelishtim in three companies: one company turned to the way that leads to Ofrat, to the land of Shual; 18 and another company turned the way to Beit-Horon; and another company turned the way of the border that looks down on the valley of Tzevo`im toward the wilderness. 19 Now there was no smith found throughout all Eretz-Yisra'el; for the Pelishtim said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears: 20 but all the Yisra'elites went down to the Pelishtim, to sharpen every man his plowshare, mattock, ax, and sickle; 21 yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the plowshares, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to set the goads. 22 So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people who were with Sha'ul and Yonatan: but with Sha'ul and with Yonatan his son was there found. 23 The garrison of the Pelishtim went out to the pass of Mikhmash.
NEW TESTAMENT: JOHN 7:1 - 30
7:1 After these things, Yeshua walked in the Galil, for he would not walk in Yehudah, because the Yehudim sought to kill him.
2 Now the feast of the Yehudim, the Feast of Sukkot, was at hand.
3 His brothers therefore said to him, "Depart from here, and go into Yehudah, that your talmidim also may see your works which you do.
4 For no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world."
5 For even his brothers didn't believe in him.
6 Yeshua therefore said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7 The world can't hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.
8 You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled."
9 Having said these things to them, he stayed in the Galil.
10 But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.
11 The Yehudim therefore sought him at the feast, and said, "Where is he?"
12 There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, "He is a good man." Others said, "Not so, but he leads the multitude astray."
13Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Yehudim.
14 But when it was now the midst of the feast, Yeshua went up into the temple and taught.
15 The Yehudim therefore marveled, saying, "How does this man know letters, having never been educated?"
16 Yeshua therefore answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.
17 If anyone desires to do his will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I speak from myself.
18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
19 Didn't Moshe give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?"
20 The multitude answered, "You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?"
21 Yeshua answered them, "I did one work, and you all marvel because of it.
22 Moshe has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moshe, but of the fathers), and on the Shabbat you circumcise a boy.
23 If a boy receives circumcision on the Shabbat, that the law of Moshe may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man every bit whole on the Shabbat?
24 Don't judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
25 Some therefore of them of Yerushalayim said, "Isn't this he whom they seek to kill?
26 Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Messiah?
27 However we know where this man comes from, but when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he comes from."
28 Yeshua therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, "You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don't know.
29 I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me."
30 They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

יְהִיב שֵׁם אֱלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב יִשְׂמֵךָ.
2 ישלח לך עזרה מִמִּקְדָּשָׁה,
יַשְׁמֹךָ מִצִּיּוֹן תְּמוֹכָה.
3 זכור את כל קרבנותיך,
וְעוֹלֶת עוֹלֶתֶךָ יִקָּבֵל. סלה.
4 יְתַן לָךְ מַחֲוַת לִבְךָ,
וְיַעֲצֶת כָּל עֲצֶתְךָ.
5 נִרְצֹא בִּישׁוּעַךָ.
בשם אֱלֹהֵינוּ נִקִּים דַּגְלֵינוּ.

1 הגיבור, ה', ידבר,
וקרא לארץ מזריחה עד שקיעה.
2 מציון, שלימות יופי,
יארח אלוהים.
3 יבוא אלוהינו ולא יחריש.
אש אוכלת לפניו,
סערה מאוד סביבו.
4 הוא קורא לשמיים ממעל,
אל הארץ, לשפוט את עמו: 5 "אספו לי את קדשי,
את אשר כרתו לי ברית בזבח."
6 השמים יגידו צדקתו,
כי אלוהים הוא שופט.

7 "שמע עמי ואדבר, ישראל ואעיד בך. אני אלוהים אלהיך.
8 לא אוכיף לך על זבחיך.
עולותיך תמיד לפניי.
9 לא אצטרך פר מדרכיך,
ולשעיזים מדיריך.

ובקמה על אלף גבעות.
11 אני יודע את כל ציפורי ההרים.
לי חיות השדה.
12 אם רעב הייתי לא אומר לך,
כי לי תבל וכל אשר בו.
13 האם אוכל בשר פרים,
או דם שעיזים אשתה?
14 זבח תודה לאלהים.
שלם נדריך לאליון.
15 קרא לי ביום צרה.

"מה זכותך לספר את חוקי,
כי לקחת את בריתי על שפתיך,
17 כששנאת מוסר,
ותשליך את דבריי אחריך?
18 כי ראית גנב, הסכמת לו,
ועם-נאפים השתתפת.
19 "נתת את פיך לרעה.
רתמת את לשונך למרמה.
20 את אחיך יושבת ודברת.
את בן אמך תעלל.
21 את הדברים האלה עשית, ואני שתקתי.
חשבת כי "אני" הוא בדיוק כמוך.
אני אגער בך, ואאשים אותך מול עיניך. 22 "עַתָּה שִׁמְעוּ זֹאת, שֶׁכְחִים אֱלֹהִים,
פן אקרע אתכם לגזרים ואין מציל.
23 מַקְרִיב זַחַב תּוֹדָה יַהֲבַל אֹתִי,
וְיַכְנֶה דֶּרֶךְ לְמַעַן אֶרְאֶה לוֹ יְשׁוּעַת אֱלֹהִים."

1 שמע אותנו רועה ישראל,
מנהיג יוסף כצאן,
יושב כרובים, האיר.
2 לפני אפרים ובנימין ומנשה,
העיר את כוחך,
בוא להושיע אותנו.
3 השב אותנו, אלוהים.
האיר פניך,
ונישענו.
4 ה' אלוהי צבאות,
עד מתי תכעס בתפילת עמך?
5 האכלתם לחם דמעה,
ושקתם דמעה בשפע.
6 עשית אותנו לריב לשכנינו.
אויבינו יצחקו ביניהם.

האיר פניך,
ונישענו. ח הבאת גפן ממצרים. גרשת גויים ונטעתה.
9 פיניתה אדמה. השתרשה עמוק ותמלאה ארץ.
10 הרים מכוסים בצילו. ענפיו היו כארזים של אלוהים.
11 הוציאה ענפיה לים,
נצריה לים.
12 למה שברת חומותיה,
וכל עוברי הדרך יקטפו?
13 חזיר מן היער יטרף אותה.
חיות השדה רעות אותה.
14 שוב אנו, אלוהי צוואות. הבט מן השמים וראה ופקד את הגפן הזאת,
15 את הגזע אשר נטעה ימינך,
את הענף אשר חזקת לך.
16 באש נשרפה, נכרתה. יבקעו מגעפתך.
17 ידך על איש ימינך,
על בן האדם אשר עזמת לך.
18 וללא נסור ממך.
החיינו ונקרא בשמך.
19 השבנו, יהוה אלוהי צבעות.

1 יְהוָה אָמַר אֲדֹנִי, שָׁב יְמִיני,
עד אשר אשים אֹיְבֶיךָ הַדְגֹם לְרַגְלֶיךָ.
2 את שֵׁבֶט עֲזֹרֶיךָ יְהוָה יְשַׁלֵחַ מִצִּיוֹן.
מִשְׁלֹחַ בְּקִרְבֵי אֹיְבֶיךָ.
3 עַמְּךָ יִתְנַדֵּב בְּיוֹם עֲזֹרֶיךָ,
בְּקֹדֶשׁ.
מִרְחֶם בֹקֶר, טַל נְעוּרֶיךָ.
4 נשבע ה' ולא ישנה את דעתו:
"כהן אתה לעולם על פי סדר מלכי צדק."
5 ה' לימינך.
הוא ירסק מלכים ביום אפו.
6 הוא ישפט בגויים.
הוא יערום גופות.
הוא ירסק מושל כל הארץ.
7 הוא ישתה מנחל בדרך;
לכן ירים ראשו.

1 הצילני ה' מאיש רע.
שמרני מאיש חמס.
2 אלו אשר חוזקים רעה בלבם.
תמיד מתאספים למלחמה.
3 הם חידדו לשונם כנחש.
ארס צפעונים תחת שפתיהם.
סלה.
4 ה', שמורני מידי רשעים. שמור אותי מאנשי אלים:
אשר החלטתם להכשיל את רגלי.
5 גאים טמנו לי פח,
פרשו חבלי רשת על פני הדרך.
הניחו לי מלכודות.
סלה.
6 אמרתי לה',
"אתה אלוהי.
" שמע לצעקת תחנוני, ה'.
7 ה', מעוז ישועתי,
כסית את ראשי ביום מלחמה.
8 ה', אל תעשה משאלות רשעים.
אל תצליח מחשבותיהם הרעות, פן יתגאו. סלה.
9 וראש סבבי,
תכסה רעת שפתיהם.
10 גחלים בוערות יפלו עליהם.
ישליכו באש,
אל בורות בוציים, משם לא יקומו. יא לא יקום דובר רע בארץ. איש אלים יצוד רע להפילו. 12 ידעתי כי יעמוד יהוה על משפט עניים,
ומשפט לנזקקים. 13 אם כן יודו צדיקים לשמך. ישרים ישכנו לפניך.
משלי: כ
1 יין ליצף, ובירה ריב; מי שיתעה על ידם לא חכם.
2 פחד מלך כשאגת אריה:
מעוררו כעסו יאבד את נפשו.
3 כבוד לאדם להתרחק מריב; וכל כסיל יריב.
4 לא יחרוש עצלן מפני החורף; לכן יבקש בקציר ולא יהיה לו.
5 עצה בלב אדם כמים עמוקים; ואיש בינה ישאב אותה.
6 אנשים רבים טוענים שהם אנשי אהבה בלתי פוסקים,
אך מי ימצא איש נאמן?
7 צדיק ההולך בתמימותו,
אשרי בניו אחריו.
ח מלך יושב על כסא המשפט
מפזר כל רע בעיניו.
ט מי יאמר "טהרתי את ליבי, טהור ואין חטא?"
י משקלים שונים ומידה שונים,
שתיהן כאחד תועבת ה'.
יא אפילו ילד יגלה במעשיו,
האם טהור מעשיו והאם ישר.
ב אוזן שומעת ועין רואה,
ה' עשה את שתיהן.
ג אל תאהב שינה, פן תבוא לרעות;
פקח את עיניך ושבעת לחם.
י"ד "לא טוב, לא טוב", אומר הקונה;
וכי הלך לדרכו, יתפאר.
ט"ו זהב ושפע אבני אודם;
ושפתי דעת הן תכשיט נדיר. טז קח בגד של אדם הנותן ערבון לזר,
וערבון לאישה תועה.
ז מתוק לאיש מאכל שקר,
ואח"כ ימלא פיו חצץ.
יח בעצה יקימו תוכניות;
בהדרכה תעשה מלחמה!
ט הולך כמדוין יגלה סודות;
לכן אל תתחבר עם מי שפותח שפתיו לרווחה.
כב מקלל אביו או אמו,
נרו יכבה בחשכת חושך.
כב נחלה שנרכשה מהר בתחילה,
לא תבורך אחרית.
כב אל תאמר,
"אגמול רעה".
חכה לה' ויושיעך.
כג 23 שונא ה' משקלים שונים,
ומשקלים לא ישרים לא רצו.
24 מאת ה' צעדי איש;
ואיך יבין אדם דרכו?
25 מלכודת היא לאדם, יעשה הקדשה פזיזה,
ואח"כ ישוב על נדריו.
26 מלך חכם יזרה רשעים,
והניע עליהם גלגל.
27 נר ה' רוח האדם,
חוקרת את כל קרביו.
28 אהבה ואמונה ישמרו על המלך.
באהבה יתמוך כסאו.
29 תפארת נערים היא כוחם.
תפארת זקנים היא שערותיהם האפורות.
30 מכות פצעות יטהר רע,
ומכות יטהרו קרביו.
הברית הישנה: שמואל א' יב:1 - יג:23
יב:1 ויאמר שמואל לכל ישראל הנה שמעתי בקולכם בכל אשר דברתם אלי ואמנה עליכם מלך. 2 ועתה הנה המלך הולך לפניכם ואני זקן ואאפיר, והנה בני עמכם, ואני הלך לפניכם מנעורי ועד היום הזה. 3 הנה אני העידו בי לפני ה' ולפני משיחו: את מי שור לקחתי, ואת מי חמור לקחתי, ואת מי רמיתי, את מי עיקשתי, או מיד מי לקחתי כופר לעוור בו את עיני, ואשיב לכם. 4 ויאמרו לא רמיית אותנו ולא עיקשת אותנו, ולא לקחתם מיד איש דבר. ה ויאמר אלהם ה' עד בכם ומשיחו עד היום כי לא מצאת בידי דבר ויאמרו עד הוא. ו ויאמר שמואל אל העם ה' הוא אשר מינה את משה ואת אהרן והוא אשר העלה את אבותיכם מארץ מצרים. ז ועתה עמדו ואשחזר בכם לפני ה' על כל צדקות ה' אשר עשה לכם ולאבותיכם. ח ויבוא יעקב מצרים ויצעקו אבותיכם אל ה' וישלח ה' את משה ואת אהרן והוציאו את אבותיכם ממצרים וישבם במקום הזה. ט וישכחו את ה' אלהיהם וימכרם ביד סיסרא שר צבא חצור וביד הפלשתים וביד מלך מואב וילחמו בם. י וַיִּקְעוּ אֶל־ה' וַיֹּאמְרוּ חַטָאנוּ כִּי עָזְבְנוּ אֶת־ה' וַיַּעֲבַדְנוּ אֶת־הַבַּעֲלִים וְאֶת־עַשְׁתָּרוֹת וְעָתָה הוֹשִׁיעָנוּ מִכַּף־אוֹיְבֵינוּ וַיַּעֲבַדְךָ. יא וַיְשַׁלַח ה' אֶת־יְרוּבַעַל וְאֶת־בֶּדָן וַיַּפְתָּךְ וַיַּשְׁמוּאֵל אֶת־כָּף־אוֹיְבֵיכֶם מִסְבִיב וַיַּשְׁבְתֶּם בְּטַח.
יב וַיַּרְאֶתֶּם כִּי־נַחַש מֶלֶךְ בָּא עָלֵיכֶם וַיֹּאמַרְתֶּם אֵלַי לֹא־מָלֹךְ־עָלֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ וְה' אֱלֹהֵיכֶם מְלַכֶּךָ. יג וְעַתָּה רָאוּ אֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְ אֲשֶׁר־בָּחַרְתֶּם וְאֲשֶׁר־שָׁאֲתָם וְהִנֵּה ה' שָׁם עָלֵיכֶם מֶלֶךְ. יד אם תיראו את ה' ועבדתם אותו ושמעתם בקולו ולא תמרו במצוות ה', וגם אתם וגם המלך המלך עליכם תהיו אחר ה' אלהיכם. טו ואם לא תשמעו בקול ה' ומרו במצוות ה', והייתה יד ה' בכם כאשר הייתה באבותיכם. טז ועתה עמדו וראו את הדבר הגדול הזה אשר יעשה ה' לעיניכם. יז הלוא קציר חיטים היום אקרא אל ה' וישלח רעם ומטר וידעתם וראיתם כי גדולה רעתכם אשר עשיתם בעיני ה' לבקש לכם מלך. יח ויקרא שמואל אל ה' וישלח ה' רעם ומטר ביום ההוא וירא כל העם את ה' ואת שמואל מאוד. 19 ויאמר כל העם אל שמואל התפלל בעד עבדיך אל יהוה אלהיך פן נמות כי הוספנו על כל חטאתנו את הרעה הזו לבקש לנו מלך כ ויאמר שמואל אל העם אל תיראו כי עשיתם את כל הרע הזה ואל תסורו מאחרי ה' ועבדו את ה' בכל לבבכם כאחד ואל תסורו כי אחרי הבל תלכו אשר לא יועילו ולא יושיעו כי הבל הם כבן כי לא עזב ה' את עמו למען שמו הגדול כי חפץ ה' לעשות אתכם לעם לו כג וגם אני חלילה לי מחטא לה' להפסיק להתפלל בעדכם כי אלמד אתכם בדרך הטובה והישרה כד רק יראו את ה' ועבדו אותו באמת בכל לבבכם כי ראו כמה גדולות עשה לכם כג ואם עוד תעשו רעה ותכלו גם אתם וגם מלככם
יג:א בן ארבעים שנה היה שאול במלכו וכי מלך שנתיים על ישראל. ב ובחר לו שאול שלושת אלפים איש מישראל, ומהם אלפים איש היו עם שאול במכמש ובהר בית אל, ואלף אחד עם יונתן בגבע בנימין. ואת שאר העם שלח איש לאהלו. ג ויך יונתן את מצב הפלשתים אשר בגבע, וישמעו הפלשתים. שאול תקעו בשופר בכל הארץ לאמר, ישמעו העברים. ד ושמעו כל ישראל לאמר כי הכה שאול את מצב הפלשתים, וגם כי ישראל היה תועבה עם הפלשתים. העם נאסף אחרי שאול גלגל. ה וַיְקַבְּצוּ הַפְּלִישְׁתִּים לִהְלֹחַ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל, שְׁשֶׁת אֲלָפִים רָכְבוּ וְעָם כְּחוֹל אֲשֶׁר עַל שָׂף הַיָּם בְּרַב. וַיַּעֲלוּ וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּמִכְמַשׁ מֵאֶלֶךְ בְּמִקְשָׁה כִּי הָעָם נִצְרָק וַיַּחֲבֹא הָעָם בְּמַעֲרוֹת וּבְסְבָעִים וּבְסְלָעִים וּבְמַחֲרָסִים וּבְבֹרִים. ז וְמֵהֶעֱבוּ מִן הָעָבְרִים אֶת הַיָּרֶד אֶל־אֶרֶץ גַד וְגִלְעָד, וְשָׁאוּל עוֹדְנוֹ בַּגִּלְגָּל, וְכָל־הָעָם הָרָדֵן הָעָרֵד אֲשֶׁר שְׁמוּאֵל, וְכָל־הָעָם הָרָדֵן הָיָה רָעֵד אַחֲרָיו. ח וַיַּשְׁבֶּת יָמִים כְּעֵת הַקָּעֵד אֲשֶׁר שְׁמוּאֵל, וְלֹא־בֹא הַגִּלְגָּל, וַיַּתְפֹּץ הָעָם מִמֶּנּוּ. ט ויאמר שאול, הביאו לי את העלה ואת השלמים. הוא הקריב את העלה. י ויהי ככלות הקריב את העלה, והנה שמואל בא, ושאול יצא לקראתו לבקש את פניו. יא ויאמר שמואל, מה עשית? ויאמר שאול, כי ראיתי כי התפזר העם מעלי, וכי לא באת בימים המועדים, וכי הפלשתים נאספו במכמש. יב ויאמר, עתה ירדו הפלשתים עלי גלגל, ולא התחננתי לפני ה'. ואכזב את עצמי ואקריב את העלה. יג ויאמר שמואל לשאול, סכלת עשית, לא שמרת את מצוות ה' אלהיך אשר צוך, כי עתה היה ה' מכין את מלכותך על ישראל עד עולם. יד ועתה לא תעמוד מלכותך: דרש לו יהוה איש בלבו, וַיְשַׁמְרָהוּ יהוה לִהְיוֹת נשיא על עמו, כי לא שמרת את אשר צוך יהוה. טו וַיַּקֵם שְׁמוּאֵל, וַיַּעֲלָה מִגִּלְגָּל גֶבֶע בְּנִימִין. וַיַּסְפַּר שְׁאוּל אֶת־הָעָם אֲשֶׁר נִכָּר עִמּוֹ, כַּשֶׁמָּה אִיש. טז וַיּוֹנָתָן בְּנוֹ וְהָעָם אֲשֶׁר נִכָּר עִמָּהֶם, לֹא שֶׁשֶׁמָּה שָׁבוּ שָׁנָה בְּגֶבֶע בְּנִימִין, וְהַפְּלִשְׁתָּנִים בָּמִכְמַשׁ. יז וַיָּצְאוּ הַשְׁחִידִים מֵמַחֲנַת הַפְּלִשְׁתָּנִים: פָּנָה אֶחָד אֶל־דֶּרֶךְ הַמּוֹלֵךְ עַפְרָת אֶל־אֶרֶץ שׁוּעַל. יח וְפָנָה אֶחָד אֶל־דֶּרֶךְ בֵּית־חָרוֹן וְפָנָה אֶל־דֶּרֶךְ הַגְּבוּל הַמִּשְׁקֵף עַל־בַּעֲלָת צְבוֹיִם אֶל־הַמִּדְבָּר. יט ולא נמצא חרש בכל ארץ ישראל, כי אמרו הפלשתים, פן יעשו להם העברים חרבות או חניתות. 20 וכל ישראל ירדו אל הפלשתים, לחדד איש את מחרשתו, את מחרשתו, את גרזנו ואת מגלתו. 21 והיה להם פצירה לחרשות ולמחרשות ולמזלגות ולגרזנים ולקבע את המדחנים. 22 ויהי ביום המלחמה, ולא נמצא חרב וחנית ביד כל העם אשר את שאול ואת יונתן, כי את שאול ואת יונתן בנו נמצא שם. 23 וצב הפלשתים יצא אל מעבר מכמש.
הברית החדשה: יוחנן ז':1-30
ז':1 אחרי הדברים האלה התהלך ישוע בגליל, כי לא רצה להתהלך ביהודה, כי היהודים ביקשו להורגו.
2 חג הסוכות, חג היהודים, קרב.
3 ויאמרו אליו אחיו: "לך מכאן ולך ליהודה, למען יראו גם תלמידיך את מעשיך אשר אתה עושה.
4 כי איש אינו עושה דבר בסתר, והוא מבקש להתגלות בגלוי. אם אתה עושה את הדברים האלה, גלה את עצמך לעולם."
5 כי אפילו אחיו לא האמינו בו. 6 ויאמר להם ישוע: "עדיין לא הגיעה שעתי, אך שעתכם תמיד מוכנה.
7 העולם אינו יכול לשנוא אתכם, אך אותי הוא שונא, כי אני מעיד עליו שמעשיו רעים.
8 אתם עלו לחג. אני עדיין לא עולה לחג הזה, כי עדיין לא מלאה שעתי."
9 אחרי שאמר להם את הדברים האלה, נשאר בגליל.
10 ואך לאחר שעלו אחיו לחג, גם הוא עלה, לא בגלוי, אלא כאילו בסתר.
11 היהודים חיפשו אותו בחג ואמרו: "היכן הוא?"
12 היתה התלוננות רבה בקרב ההמונים עליו. אחדים אמרו: "הוא אדם טוב." אחרים אמרו: "לא כן, אלא שהוא תועה את ההמונים."
13אך איש לא דיבר עליו בגלוי מחשש היהודים.
14 בהיותו כבר אמצע החג, עלה ישוע לבית המקדש ולימד.
15 היהודים תמהו ואמרו: "איך זה יודע אותיות, מבלי שלמד מעולם?"
16 השיב להם ישוע: "תורתי אינה שלי, אלא של שלחני.
17 מי שרוצה לעשות רצונו, ידע אם תורתי מאלוהים היא, או שאני מדבר מעצמי.
18 המדבר מעצמו מבקש כבוד משלו, אך המבקש את כבוד שלחו, הוא אמתני, ואין בו עוול.
19 האם משה לא נתן לכם את התורה, ואף אחד מכם אינו שומר את התורה? מדוע אתם מבקשים להרוג אותי?"
20 הקהל ענה: "יש לכם שד! מי מבקש להרוג אתכם?"
21 ענה להם ישוע: "מעשה אחד עשיתי, וכלכם מתפלאים עליה.
22 משה נתן לכם את המילה (לא שהיא ממשה, אלא מהאבות), ובשבת אתם מולים את הנער.
23 אם נער מול בשבת, כדי שלא תעבור תורת משה, האם אתם כועסים עליי, כי רפאתי אדם כולו בשבת?
24 אל תשפטו לפי מראה, אלא שפטו משפט צדק."
25 לכן אמרו כמה מתושבי ירושלים: "האם זה לא הוא אשר הם מבקשים להרוג?
26 הנה, הוא מדבר בגלוי, והם אינם אומרים לו דבר. האם ייתכן שהשליטים יודעים שזהו באמת המשיח?
27 אולם אנו יודעים מאין בא האיש הזה, אך כאשר יבוא המשיח, איש לא ידע מאין בא." 28 לכן צעק ישוע בבית המקדש, לימד ואמר: "אתם מכירים אותי וגם אתם יודעים מאיפה אני. לא מעצמי באתי, אבל זה ששלח אותי הוא אמיתי, ואתם לא מכירים אותו.
29 אני מכיר אותו, כי ממנו אני והוא שלחני."
30 לכן ביקשו לתפוס אותו, אך איש לא הושיט יד בו, כי עדיין לא הגיעה שעתו.
John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
