Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

DECEMBER 27

PSALMS: 27, 57, 87, 117, 147

PROVERBS: 27

OLD TESTAMENT: NUMBERS 26:52 - 28:15

NEW TESTAMENT: LUKE 3:1 - 22

Psalms 27

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation.

Whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the strength of my life.

Of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When evil-doers came at me to eat up my flesh,

Even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though a host should encamp against me,

My heart shall not fear.

Though war should rise against me,

Even then I will be confident.

4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after,

That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,

To see the beauty of the LORD,

And to inquire in his temple.

5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion.

In the covert of his tent will he hide me.

He will lift me up on a rock.

6 Now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies around me.

I will offer sacrifices of joy in his tent.

I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.

7 Hear, LORD, when I cry with my voice.

Have mercy also on me, and answer me.

8 When you said, "Seek my face,"

My heart said to you,

"I will seek your face, LORD."

9 Don't hide your face from me.

Don't put your servant away in anger.

You have been my help.

Don't abandon me, neither forsake me,

God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me,

Then the LORD will take me up.

11 Teach me your way, LORD.

Lead me in a straight path, because of my enemies.

12 Don't deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries,

For false witnesses have risen up against me,

Such as breathe out cruelty.

13 I am still confident of this:

I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

14 Wait for the LORD.

Be strong, and let your heart take courage.

Yes, wait for the LORD.

PSALMS: 57

1 Be merciful to me, God, be merciful to me,

For my soul takes refuge in you.

Yes, in the shadow of your wings,

I will take refuge,

Until disaster has passed.

2 I cry out to El `Elyon,

To God who accomplishes my requests for me.

3 He will send from heaven, and save me,

He rebukes the one who is pursuing me.

Selah.

God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.

4 My soul is among lions.

I lie among those who are set on fire,

Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows,

And their tongue a sharp sword.

5 Be exalted, God, above the heavens!

Let your glory be above all the eretz!

6 They have prepared a net for my steps.

My soul is bowed down.

They dig a pit before me.

They fall into the midst of it themselves.

Selah.

7 My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast.

I will sing, yes,

I will sing praises.

8 Wake up, my glory!

Wake up, psaltery and harp!

I will wake up the dawn.

9 I will give thanks to you, Lord, among the peoples.

I will sing praises to you among the nations.

10 For your great loving kindness reaches to the heavens,

And your truth to the skies.

11 Be exalted, God, above the heavens.

Let your glory be over all the eretz.

PSALMS: 87

1 His foundation is in the holy mountains.

2 The LORD loves the gates of Tziyon More than all the dwellings of Ya`akov.

3 Glorious things are spoken about you, city of God.

Selah.

4 I will record Rachav and Bavel among those who acknowledge me.

Behold, Peleshet, Tzor, and also Kush:

"This one was born there."

5 Yes, of Tziyon it will be said,

"This one and that one was born in her;"

The Elyon himself will establish her.

6 The LORD will count, when he writes up the peoples,

"This one was born there."

Selah.

7 Those who sing as well as those who dance say, "

All my springs are in you."

PSALMS: 117

1 Praise the LORD, all you nations!

Extol him, all you peoples!

2 For his loving kindness is great toward us.

The LORD's faithfulness endures forever.

Praise the LORD!

PSALMS: 147

1 Praise the LORD,

For it is good to sing praises to our God;

For it is pleasant and fitting to praise him.

2 The LORD builds up Yerushalayim.

He gathers together the outcasts of Yisra'el.

3 He heals the broken in heart,

And binds up their wounds.

4 He counts the number of the stars.

He calls them all by their names.

5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power.

His understanding is infinite.

6 The LORD upholds the humble.

He brings the wicked down to the ground.

7  Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving.

Sing praises on the harp to our God,

8 Who covers the sky with clouds,

Who prepares rain for the eretz,

Who makes grass grow on the mountains.

9 He provides food for the cattle,

And for the young ravens when they call.

10 He doesn't delight in the strength of the horse.

He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.

11 The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him,

In those who hope in his loving kindness.

12 Praise the LORD, Yerushalayim!

Praise your God, Tziyon!

13 For he has strengthened the bars of your gates.

He has blessed your children within you.

14He makes shalom in your borders.

He fills you with the finest of the wheat.

15 He sends out his mitzvah on eretz.

His word runs very swiftly.

16 He gives snow like wool,

And scatters frost like ashes.

17  He hurls down his hail like pebbles.

Who can stand before his cold?

18 He sends out his word, and melts them.

He causes his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19 He shows his word to Ya`akov;

His statutes and his ordinances to Yisra'el.

20 He has not done this for any nation;

They don't know his ordinances.

Praise the LORD!

PROVERBS: 27

1 Don't boast about tomorrow;

For you don't know what a day may bring forth.

2 Let another man praise you,

And not your own mouth;

A stranger, and not your own lips.

3 A stone is heavy, And sand is a burden;

But a fool's provocation is heavier than both.

4 Wrath is cruel,

And anger is overwhelming;

But who is able to stand before jealousy?

5 Better is open rebuke Than hidden love.

6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend;

Although the kisses of an enemy are profuse.

7 A full soul loathes a honeycomb;

But to a hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet.

8 As a bird that wanders from her nest,

So is a man who wanders from his home.

9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart;

So does earnest counsel from a man's friend.

10 Don't forsake your friend and your father's friend.

Don't go to your brother's house in the day of your disaster:

Better is a neighbor who is near than a distant brother.

11 Be wise, my son,

And bring joy to my heart,

Then I can answer my tormentor.

12 A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge;

But the simple pass on, and suffer for it:

13 Take his garment when he puts up collateral for a stranger;

Hold it for a wayward woman!

14 He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning,

It will be taken as a curse by him.

15 A continual dropping on a rainy day

And a contentious wife are alike:

16 Restraining her is like restraining the wind,

Or like grasping oil in his right hand.

17 Iron sharpens iron;

So a man sharpens his friend's countenance.

18 Whoever tends the fig tree shall eat its fruit.

He who looks after his master shall be honored.

19 As water reflects a face,

So a man's heart reflects the man.

20 She'ol and Avaddon are never satisfied;

And a man's eyes are never satisfied.

21 The crucible is for silver,

And the furnace for gold;

But man is refined by his praise.

22 Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with grain,

Yet his foolishness will not be removed from him.

23 Know well the state of your flocks,

And pay attention to your herds:

24 For riches are not forever,

Nor does even the crown endure to all generations.

25 The hay is removed, and the new growth appears,

The grasses of the hills are gathered in.

26 The lambs are for your clothing,

And the goats are the price of a field.

27 There will be plenty of goats' milk for your food,

For your family's food,

And for the nourishment of your servant girls.

OLD TESTAMENT: NUMBERS 26:52 - 28:15

26:52 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 53 To these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names. 54 To the more you shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer you shall give the less inheritance: to everyone according to those who were numbered of him shall his inheritance be given. 55 Notwithstanding, the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit. 56 According to the lot shall their inheritance be divided between the more and the fewer. 57 These are those who were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershoni; of Kehat, the family of the Kehati; of Merari, the family of the Merarites. 58 These are the families of Levi: the family of the Livni, the family of the Hevroni, the family of the Machli, the family of the Mushi, the family of the Korchi. Kehat became the father of `Amram. 59 The name of `Amram's wife was Yokheved, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Mitzrayim: and she bore to `Amram Aharon and Moshe, and Miryam their sister. 60 To Aharon were born Nadav and Avihu, El`azar and Itamar. 61 Nadav and Avihu died, when they offered strange fire before the LORD. 62 Those who were numbered of them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Yisra'el, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Yisra'el. 63 These are those who were numbered by Moshe and El`azar the Kohen, who numbered the children of Yisra'el in the plains of Mo'av by the Yarden at Yericho. 64 But among these there was not a man of them who were numbered by Moshe and Aharon the Kohen, who numbered the children of Yisra'el in the wilderness of Sinai. 65 For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. There was not left a man of them, save Kalev the son of Yefunneh, and Yehoshua the son of Nun.

27:1 Then drew near the daughters of Tzelohchad, the son of Hefer, the son of Gil`ad, the son of Makhir, the son of Menashsheh, of the families of Menashsheh the son of Yosef; and these are the names of his daughters: Machlah, Noach, and Hoglah, and Milkah, and Tirtzah. 2 They stood before Moshe, and before El`azar the Kohen, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the tent of meeting, saying, 3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korach: but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons. 4 Why should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he had no son? Give to us a possession among the brothers of our father. 5 Moshe brought their cause before the LORD. 6 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 7 The daughters of Tzelohchad speak right: you shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brothers; and you shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them. 8 You shall speak to the children of Yisra'el, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter. 9 If he have no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. 10 If he have no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father's brothers. 11 If his father have no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his kinsman who is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be to the children of Yisra'el a statute [and] ordinance, as the LORD commanded Moshe. 12 The LORD said to Moshe, Go up into this mountain of `Avarimen, and see the land which I have given to the children of Yisra'el. 13 When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aharon your brother was gathered; 14 because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Tzin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the waters before their eyes. (These are the waters of Merivah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Tzin.) 15 Moshe spoke to the LORD, saying, 16 Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation, 17 who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD not be as sheep which have no shepherd. 18 The LORD said to Moshe, Take Yehoshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; 19 and set him before El`azar the Kohen, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight. 20 You shall put of your honor on him, that all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el may obey. 21 He shall stand before El`azar the Kohen, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Yisra'el with him, even all the congregation. 22 Moshe did as the LORD commanded him; and he took Yehoshua, and set him before El`azar the Kohen, and before all the congregation: 23 and he laid his hands on him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD spoke by Moshe.

28:1 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 2 Command the children of Yisra'el, and tell them, My offering, my food for my offerings made by fire, of a sweet savor to me, shall you observe to offer to me in their due season. 3 You shall tell them, This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer to the LORD: he-lambs a year old without blemish, two day by day, for a continual burnt offering. 4 The one lamb shall you offer in the morning, and the other lamb shall you offer at even; 5 and the tenth part of an efah of fine flour for a meal-offering, mixed with the fourth part of a hin of beaten oil. 6 It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in Mount Sinai for a sweet savor, an offering made by fire to the LORD. 7 The drink-offering of it shall be the fourth part of a hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shall you pour out a drink-offering of strong drink to the LORD. 8 The other lamb shall you offer at even: as the meal-offering of the morning, and as the drink-offering of it, you shall offer it, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to the LORD. 9 On the day of Shabbat two he-lambs a year old without blemish, and two tenth parts [of an efah] of fine flour for a meal-offering, mixed with oil, and the drink-offering of it: 10 this is the burnt offering of every Shabbat, besides the continual burnt-offering, and the drink-offering of it. 11 In the beginnings of your months you shall offer a burnt offering to the LORD: two young bulls, and one ram, seven he-lambs a year old without blemish; 12 and three tenth parts [of an efah] of fine flour for a meal-offering, mixed with oil, for each bull; and two tenth parts of fine flour for a meal-offering, mixed with oil, for the one ram; 13 and a tenth part of fine flour mixed with oil for a meal-offering to every lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet savor, an offering made by fire to the LORD. 14 Their drink-offerings shall be half a hin of wine for a bull, and the third part of a hin for the ram, and the fourth part of a hin for a lamb: this is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the year. 15 One male goat for a sin-offering to the LORD; it shall be offered besides the continual burnt offering, and the drink-offering of it.

NEW TESTAMENT: LUKE 3:1 - 22

1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Yehudah, and Herod being tetrarch of the Galil, and his brother Pilipos tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

2 in the Kohanim Gedolim of Anan and Kayafa, the word of God came to Yochanan, the son of Zekharyah, in the wilderness.

3 He came into all the region around the Yarden, preaching the immersion of repentance to remission of sins.

4 As it is written in the book of the words of Yesha`yahu the prophet, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight.

5 Every valley will be filled. Every mountain and hill will be brought low. The crooked will become straight, And the rough ways smooth.

6 All flesh will see God's salvation.'"

7 He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be immersed by him, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and don't begin to say among yourselves, 'We have Avraham for our father;' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Avraham from these stones!

9 Even now the ax also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doesn't bring forth good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire."

10 The multitudes asked him, "What then must we do?"

11 He answered them, "He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise."

12 Tax collectors also came to be immersed, and they said to him, "Teacher, what must we do?"

13He said to them, "Collect no more than that which is appointed to you."

14 Soldiers also asked him, saying, "What about us? What must we do?" He said to them, "Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages."

15 As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning Yochanan, whether perhaps he was the Messiah,

16 Yochanan answered them all, "I indeed immerse you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will immerse you in the Ruach HaKodesh and fire,

17 whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

18 Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,

19 but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother's wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,

20 added this also to them all, that he shut up Yochanan in prison.

21 Now it happened, when all the people were immersed, that, Yeshua also having been immersed, and praying, the sky was opened,

22 and the Ruach HaKodesh descended in a bodily form, as a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying "You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased."

 John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
