THEinc-HIM Daily Bible Meditation - December 13 - Full Text

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

DECEMBER 13

PSALMS: 13, 43, 73, 103, 133

PROVERBS: 13

OLD TESTAMENT: NUMBERS 2:1 - 3:51

NEW TESTAMENT: MARK 11:27 - 12:17

PSALMS: 13

1 How long, LORD?

Will you forget me forever?

How long will you hide your face from me?

2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul,

Having sorrow in my heart every day?

How long shall my enemy triumph over me?

3 Behold, and answer me, LORD, my God.

Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death;

4 Lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed against him;

" Lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall.

5 But I trust in your loving kindness.

My heart rejoices in your yeshu`ah.

6 I will sing to the LORD,

Because he has been good to me.

PSALMS: 43

1 Vindicate me, God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation.

Oh, deliver me from deceitful and wicked men.

2 For you are the God of my strength.

Why have you rejected me?

Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

3 Oh, send out your light and your truth.

Let them lead me. Let them bring me to your holy hill,

To your tents.

4 Then I will go to the altar of God,

To God, my exceeding joy.

I will praise you on the harp, God, my God.

5 Why are you in despair, my soul?

Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God!

For I shall still praise him,

The saving help of my face, and my God.

PSALMS: 73

1 Surely God is good to Yisra'el,

To those who are pure in heart.

2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone.

My steps had nearly slipped.

3 For I was envious of the arrogant,

When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4 For there are no struggles in their death,

But their strength is firm.

5 They are free from burdens of men,

Neither are they plagued like other men.

6 Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck.

Violence covers them like a garment.

7 Their eyes bulge with fat.

Their minds pass the limits of conceit.

8 They scoff and speak with malice.

In arrogance, they threaten oppression.

9 They have set their mouth in the heavens.

Their tongue walks through the eretz.

10 Therefore their people return to them,

And they drink up waters of abundance.

11 They say, "How does God know?

Is there knowledge in Ha`Elyon?"

12 Behold, these are the wicked.

Being always at ease, they increase in riches.

13 Surely in vain I have cleansed my heart,

And washed my hands in innocence,

14 For all day long have I been plagued,

And punished every morning.

15 If I had said, "I will speak thus;"

Behold, I would have betrayed the generation of your children.

16 When I tried to understand this,

It was too painful for me;

17  Until I entered God's sanctuary,

And considered their latter end.

18 Surely you set them in slippery places.

You throw them down to destruction.

19 How they are suddenly destroyed!

They are completely swept away with terrors.

20 As a dream when one wakes up,

So, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.

21 For my soul was grieved.

I was embittered in my heart.

22 I was so senseless and ignorant.

I was a brute beast before you.

23 Nevertheless, I am continually with you.

You have held my right hand.

24 You will guide me with your counsel,

And afterward receive me to glory.

25 Who do I have in heaven?

There is no one on eretz who I desire besides you.

26 My flesh and my heart fails,

But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

27 For, behold, those who are far from you shall perish.

You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.

28 But it is good for me to come close to God.

I have made the Lord GOD my refuge,

That I may tell of all your works.

PSALMS: 103

1 Praise the LORD, my soul!

All that is within me, praise his holy name!

2 Praise the LORD, my soul,

And don't forget all his benefits;

3 Who forgives all your sins;

Who heals all your diseases;

4 Who redeems your life from destruction;

Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfies your desire with good things,

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The LORD executes righteous acts,

And justice for all who are oppressed.

7 He made known his ways to Moshe,

His deeds to the children of Yisra'el.

8 The LORD is merciful and gracious,

Slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.

9 He will not always accuse;

Neither will he stay angry forever.

10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,

Nor rewarded us for our iniquities.

11 For as the heavens are high above the eretz,

So great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west,

So far has he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like a father has compassion on his children,

So the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.

14 For he knows how we are made.

He remembers that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are like grass.

As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone.

Its place remembers it no more.

17 But the LORD's loving kindness is from everlasting

to everlasting with those who fear him,

His righteousness to children's children;

18 To those who keep his covenant,

To those who remember to obey his precepts.

19 The LORD has established his throne in the heavens.

His kingdom rules over all.

20 Praise the LORD, you angels of his,

Who are mighty in strength, who fulfill his word,

Obeying the voice of his word.

21 Praise the LORD, all you hosts of his,

You servants of his, who do his pleasure.

22 Praise the LORD, all you works of his,

In all places of his dominion.

Praise the LORD, my soul.

PSALMS: 133

1 See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!

2 It is like the precious oil on the head,

That ran down on the beard,

Even Aharon's beard;

That came down on the edge of his robes;

3 Like the dew of Hermon,

That comes down on the hills of Tziyon:

For there the LORD gives the blessing,

Even life forevermore.

PROVERBS: 13

1 A wise son listens to his father's instruction,

But a scoffer doesn't listen to rebuke.

2 By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things;

But the unfaithful crave violence.

3 He who guards his mouth guards his soul.

One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

4 The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing,

But the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.

5 A righteous man hates lies,

But a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.

6 Righteousness guards the way of integrity,

But wickedness overthrows the sinner.

7 There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing.

There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.

8 The ransom of a man's life is his riches,

But the poor hears no threats.

9 The light of the righteous shines brightly,

But the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.

10 By pride comes only quarrels,

But with ones who take advice is wisdom.

11 Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away,

But he who gathers by hand makes it grow.

12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,

But when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.

13 Whoever despises instruction will pay for it,

But he who respects a command will be rewarded.

14 The teaching of the wise is a spring of life,

To turn from the snares of death.

15 Good understanding wins favor;

But the way of the unfaithful is hard.

16 Every prudent man acts from knowledge,

But a fool exposes folly.

17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble,

But a trustworthy envoy gains healing.

18 Poverty and shame come to him who refuses discipline,

But he who heeds correction shall be honored.

19 Longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul,

But fools detest turning from evil.

20 One who walks with wise men grows wise,

But a companion of fools suffers harm.

21 Misfortune pursues sinners,

But prosperity rewards the righteous.

22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children,

But the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous.

23 An abundance of food is in poor people's fields,

But injustice sweeps it away.

24 One who spares the rod hates his son,

But one who loves him is careful to discipline him.

25 The righteous one eats to the satisfying of his soul,

But the belly of the wicked goes hungry.

OLD TESTAMENT: NUMBERS 2:1 - 3:51

2:1 The LORD spoke to Moshe and to Aharon, saying, 2 "The children of Yisra'el shall encamp every man by his own standard, with the ensigns of their fathers' houses: at a distance from the tent of meeting shall they encamp around it." 3 Those who encamp on the east side toward the sunrise shall be of the standard of the camp of Yehudah, according to their divisions: and the prince of the children of Yehudah shall be Nachshon the son of `Amminadav. 4 His division, and those who were numbered of them, were seventy-four thousand six hundred. 5 Those who encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Yissakhar: and the prince of the children of Yissakhar shall be Netan'el the son of Tzu`ar. 6 His division, and those who were numbered of it, were fifty-four thousand four hundred. 7  The tribe of Zevulun: and the prince of the children of Zevulun shall be Eli'av the son of Helon. 8 His division, and those who were numbered of it, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred. 9 All who were numbered of the camp of Yehudah were one hundred eighty-six thousand four hundred, according to their divisions. They shall set out first. 10 "On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Re'uven according to their divisions. The prince of the children of Re'uven shall be Elitzur the son of Shede'ur. 11 His division, and those who were numbered of it, were forty-six thousand five hundred. 12 "Those who encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Shim`on. The prince of the children of Shim`on shall be Shelumi'el the son of Tzurishaddai. 13 His division, and those who were numbered of them, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred. 14 "The tribe of Gad: and the prince of the children of Gad shall be Elyasaf the son of Re`u'el. 15 His division, and those who were numbered of them, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty. 16 "All who were numbered of the camp of Re'uven were one hundred fifty-one thousand four hundred fifty, according to their hosts. They shall set out second. 17 "Then the tent of meeting shall set out, with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps. As they encamp, so shall they set out, every man in his place, by their standards. 18 "On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Efrayim according to their divisions: and the prince of the children of Efrayim shall be Elishama the son of `Ammihud. 19 His division, and those who were numbered of them, were forty thousand five hundred. 20 "Next to him shall be the tribe of Menashsheh: and the prince of the children of Menashsheh shall be Gamli'el the son of Pedatzur. 21 His division, and those who were numbered of them, were thirty-two thousand two hundred. 22 "The tribe of Binyamin: and the prince of the children of Binyamin shall be Avidan the son of Gid`oni. 23 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were thirty-five thousand four hundred. 24 "All who were numbered of the camp of Efrayim were one hundred eight thousand one hundred, according to their divisions. They shall set out third. 25 "On the north side shall be the standard of the camp of Dan according to their divisions: and the prince of the children of Dan shall be Achi`ezer the son of `Ammishaddai. 26 His division, and those who were numbered of them, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred. 27 "Those who encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the prince of the children of Asher shall be Pag`i'el the son of `Okhran. 28 His division, and those who were numbered of them, were forty-one thousand and five hundred. 29 "The tribe of Naftali: and the prince of the children of Naftali shall be Achira the son of `Enan. 30 His division, and those who were numbered of them, were fifty-three thousand four hundred. 31 "All who were numbered of the camp of Dan were one hundred fifty-seven thousand six hundred. They shall set out last by their standards." 32 These are those who were numbered of the children of Yisra'el by their fathers' houses. All who were numbered of the camps according to their hosts were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty. 33 But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Yisra'el; as the LORD commanded Moshe. 34 Thus the children of Yisra'el did. According to all that the LORD commanded Moshe, so they encamped by their standards, and so they set out, everyone by their families, according to their fathers' houses.

3:1 Now this is the history of the generations of Aharon and Moshe in the day that the LORD spoke with Moshe in Mount Sinai. 2 These are the names of the sons of Aharon: Nadav the firstborn, and Avihu, El`azar, and Itamar. 3 These are the names of the sons of Aharon, the Kohanim who were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the Kohen's office. 4 Nadav and Avihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children. El`azar and Itamar ministered in the Kohen's office in the presence of Aharon their father. 5 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 6 "Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aharon the Kohen, that they may minister to him. 7 They shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the Tent of Meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle. 8 They shall keep all the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting, and the obligations of the children of Yisra'el, to do the service of the tabernacle. 9 You shall give the Levites to Aharon and to his sons. They are wholly given to him on the behalf of the children of Yisra'el. 10 You shall appoint Aharon and his sons, and they shall keep their priesthood. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death." 11 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 12 "Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Yisra'el instead of all the firstborn who open the womb among the children of Yisra'el; and the Levites shall be mine: 13 for all the firstborn are mine. On the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Mitzrayim I made holy to me all the firstborn in Yisra'el, both man and animal. They shall be mine. I am the LORD." 14 The LORD spoke to Moshe in the wilderness of Sinai, saying, 15 "Number the children of Levi by their fathers' houses, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shall you number." 16 Moshe numbered them according to the word of the LORD, as he was commanded. 17  These were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon, and Kehat, and Merari. 18 These are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families: Livni and Shim`i. 19 The sons of Kehat by their families: `Amram, and Yitzhar, Hevron, and `Uzzi'el. 20 The sons of Merari by their families: Machli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers' houses. 21 Of Gershon was the family of the Livni, and the family of the Shim`i: these are the families of the Gershoni. 22 Those who were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, even those who were numbered of them were seven thousand five hundred. 23 The families of the Gershoni shall encamp behind the tabernacle westward. 24 The prince of the fathers' house of the Gershoni shall be Elyasaf the son of La'el. 25 The charge of the sons of Gershon in the Tent of Meeting shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, its covering, and the screen for the door of the Tent of Meeting, 26 and the hangings of the court, and the screen for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and around the altar, and its cords for all of its service. 27 Of Kehat was the family of the `Amrami, and the family of the Izharites, and the family of the Hevroni, and the family of the `Uzzi'eli: these are the families of the Kehati. 28 According to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, there were eight thousand six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary. 29 The families of the sons of Kehat shall encamp on the south side of the tabernacle. 30 The prince of the fathers' house of the families of the Kehati shall be Elitzafan the son of `Uzzi'el. 31 Their charge shall be the ark, the table, the lamp stand, the altars, the vessels of the sanctuary with which they minister, and the screen, and all its service. 32 El`azar the son of Aharon the Kohen shall be prince of the princes of the Levites, with the oversight of those who keep the charge of the sanctuary. 33 Of Merari was the family of the Machli, and the family of the Mushi. These are the families of Merari. 34 Those who were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand two hundred. 35 The prince of the fathers' house of the families of Merari was Tzuri'el the son of Avichayil. They shall encamp on the north side of the tabernacle. 36 The appointed charge of the sons of Merari shall be the tabernacle's boards, its bars, its pillars, its sockets, all its instruments, all its service, 37 the pillars of the court around it, their sockets, their pins, and their cords. 38 Those who encamp before the tabernacle eastward, in front of the Tent of Meeting toward the sunrise, shall be Moshe, and Aharon and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Yisra'el. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death. 39 All who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moshe and Aharon numbered at the mitzvah of the LORD, by their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty-two thousand. 40 The LORD said to Moshe, "Number all the firstborn males of the children of Yisra'el from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names. 41 You shall take the Levites for me (I am the LORD) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Yisra'el; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the cattle of the children of Yisra'el."

42 Moshe numbered, as the LORD commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Yisra'el. 43 All the firstborn males according to the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those who were numbered of them, were twenty-two thousand two hundred seventy-three. 44 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 45 "Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Yisra'el, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine. I am the LORD. 46 For the redemption of the two hundred seventy-three of the firstborn of the children of Yisra'el, who exceed the number of the Levites, 47 you shall take five shekels apiece for each one; after the shekel of the sanctuary you shall take them (the shekel is twenty gerahs): 48 and you shall give the money, with which the remainder of them is redeemed, to Aharon and to his sons." 49 Moshe took the redemption money from those who exceeded the number of those who were redeemed by the Levites; 50 from the firstborn of the children of Yisra'el he took the money, one thousand three hundred sixty-five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary: 51 and Moshe gave the redemption money to Aharon and to his sons, according to the word of the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moshe.

NEW TESTAMENT: MARK 11:27 - 12:17

11:27  They came again to Yerushalayim, and as he was walking in the temple, the chief Kohanim, and the Sofrim, and the Zakenim came to him, 28 and they began saying to him, "By what authority do you do these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?" 29 Yeshua said to them, "I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30 The immersion of Yochanan -- was it from heaven, or from men? Answer me." 31 They reasoned with themselves, saying, "If we should say, 'From heaven;' he will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?' 32 If we should say, 'From men'"--they feared the people, for all held Yochanan to really be a prophet. 33 They answered Yeshua, "We don't know." Yeshua said to them, "Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things."

12:1 He began to speak to them in parables. "A man planted a vineyard, set a hedge around it, dug a pit for the winepress, built a tower, rented it out to a farmer, and went into another country. 2 When it was time, he sent a servant to the farmer to get from the farmer his share of the fruit of the vineyard. 3 They took him, beat him, and sent him away empty. 4 Again, he sent another servant to them; and they threw stones at him, wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully treated. 5 Again he sent another; and they killed him; and many others, beating some, and killing some. 6 Therefore he had yet one, a beloved son, he sent him last to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.' 7 But those farmers said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'8 They took him, killed him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard. 9 What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the farmers, and will give the vineyard to others. 10 Haven't you even read this Scripture: 'The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner. 11 This was from the Lord, It is marvelous in our eyes'?" 12 They tried to seize him, but they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spoke the parable against them. They left him, and went away. 13 They sent some of the Perushim and of the Herodians to him, that they might catch him in words. 14 When they had come, they asked him, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and don't defer to anyone; for you aren't partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? 15 Shall we give, or shall we not give?" But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, "Why do you test me? Bring me a denarius, that I may see it." 16 They brought it. He said to them, "Whose is this image and inscription?" They said to him, "Caesar's." 17 Yeshua answered them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." They marveled greatly at him.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
