PSALMS: 22
1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from helping me,
and from the words of my groaning?
2 My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don't answer;
In the night season, and am not silent.
3 But you are holy,
You who inhabit the praises of Yisra'el.
4 Our fathers trusted in you.
They trusted, and you delivered them.
5 They cried to you, and were delivered.
They trusted in you, and were not put to shame.
6 But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
7 All those who see me mock me.
They insult me with their lips.
They shake their heads, saying,
8 "He trusts in the LORD; Let him deliver him;
Let him rescue him, since he delights in him."
9 But you brought me out of the womb.
You made me trust at my mother's breasts.
10 I was thrown on you from my mother's womb.
You are my God since my mother bore me.
11 Don't be far from me, for trouble is near.
For there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have surrounded me.
Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.
13 They open their mouths wide against me,
Lions tearing prey and roaring.
14 I am poured out like water.
All my bones are out of joint.
My heart is like wax;
It is melted within me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd.
My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth.
You have brought me into the dust of death.
16 For dogs have surrounded me.
A company of evil-doers have enclosed me.
They pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I can count all of my bones.
They look and stare at me.
18 They divide my garments among them.
They cast lots for my clothing.
19 But don't be far off, LORD.
You are my help: hurry to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword,
My precious life from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the lion's mouth;
Yes, from the horns of the wild oxen you have answered me.
22 I will declare your name to my brothers.
In the midst of the assembly, will I praise you.
23 You who fear the LORD, praise him!
All you descendants of Ya`akov, glorify him!
Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Yisra'el!
24 For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted,
Neither has he hid his face from him;
But when he cried to him, he heard.
25 Of you comes my praise in the great assembly.
I will pay my vows before those who fear him.
26 The humble shall eat and be satisfied.
They shall praise the LORD who seek after him.
Let your hearts live forever.
27 All the ends of the eretz shall remember and turn to the LORD.
All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you.
28 For the kingdom is the LORD's.
He is the ruler over the nations.
29 All the rich ones of the eretz shall eat and worship.
All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him,
Even he who can't keep his soul alive.
30 Posterity shall serve him.
Future generations shall be told about the Lord.
31 They shall come and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, For he has done it.
PSALMS: 52
1 Why do you boast of mischief, mighty man?
God's loving kindness endures continually.
2 Your tongue plots destruction,
Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
3 You love evil more than good,
Lying rather than speaking the truth.
Selah.
4 You love all devouring words,
You deceitful tongue.
5 God will likewise destroy you forever.
He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent,
And root you out of the land of the living.
Selah.
6 The righteous also will see it, and fear,
And laugh at him, saying,
7 "Behold, this is the man who didn't make God his strength,
But trusted in the abundance of his riches,
And strengthened himself in his wickedness."
8 But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God's house.
I trust in God's loving kindness forever and ever.
9 I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it.
I will hope in your name, for it is good,
In the presence of your holy ones.
PSALMS: 82
1 God presides in the great assembly.
He judges among the gods.
2 "How long will you judge unjustly,
And show partiality to the wicked?"
Selah.
3 "Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless.
Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and needy.
Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked."
5 They don't know, neither do they understand.
They walk back and forth in darkness.
All the foundations of the eretz are shaken.
6 I said, "You are gods,
All of you are sons of Ha`Elyon.
7 Nevertheless you shall die like men,
And fall like one of the rulers."
8 Arise, God, judge the eretz,
For you inherit all of the nations.
PSALMS: 112
1 Praise the LORD!
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
Who delights greatly in his mitzvot.
2 His seed will be mighty on eretz.
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in his house.
His righteousness endures forever.
4 Light dawns in the darkness for the upright,
Gracious, merciful, and righteous.
5 It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends.
He will maintain his cause in judgment.
6 For he will never be shaken.
The righteous will be remembered forever.
7 He will not be afraid of evil news.
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
8 His heart is established.
He will not be afraid in the end when he sees his adversaries.
9 He has dispersed, he has given to the poor.
His righteousness endures forever.
His horn will be exalted with honor.
10 The wicked will see it, and be grieved.
He shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away.
The desire of the wicked will perish.
PSALMS: 142
1 I cry with my voice to the LORD.
With my voice, I ask the LORD for mercy.
2 I pour out my complaint before him.
I tell him my troubles.
3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
You knew my path.
In the way in which I walk,
They have hidden a snare for me.
4 Look on my right, and see;
For there is no one who is concerned for me.
Refuge has fled from me.
No one cares for my soul.
5 I cried to you, the LORD.
I said, "You are my refuge,
My portion in the land of the living."
6 Listen to my cry,
For I am in desperate need.
Deliver me from my persecutors,
For they are stronger than me.
7 Bring my soul out of prison,
That I may give thanks to your name.
The righteous will surround me,
For you will be good to me.
PROVERBS: 22
1 A good name is more desirable than great riches;
Loving favor rather than silver and gold.
2 The rich and the poor have this in common:
The LORD is the maker of them all.
3 A prudent man sees danger, and hides himself;
But the simple pass on, and suffer for it.
4 The result of humility and the fear of the LORD
Is wealth, honor, and life.
5 Thorns and snares are in the path of the wicked:
Whoever guards his soul stays from them.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.
7 The rich rules over the poor.
The borrower is servant to the lender.
8 He who sows wickedness reaps trouble,
And the rod of his fury will be destroyed.
9 He who has a generous eye will be blessed;
For he shares his food with the poor.
10 Drive out the mocker, and strife will go out;
Yes, quarrels and insults will stop.
11 He who loves purity of heart and speaks gracefully Is the king's friend.
12 The eyes of the LORD watch over knowledge;
But he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.
13 The sluggard says,
"There is a lion outside!
I will be killed in the streets!"
14 The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit:
He who is under the LORD's wrath will fall into it.
15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child:
The rod of discipline drives it far from him.
16 Whoever oppresses the poor for his own increase and whoever gives to the rich,
Both come to poverty.
17 Turn your ear, and listen to the words of the wise.
Apply your heart to my teaching.
18 For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you,
If all of them are ready on your lips.
19 That your trust may be in the LORD,
I teach you today, even you.
20 Haven't I written to you thirty excellent things
Of counsel and knowledge,
21 To teach you truth, reliable words,
To give sound answers to the ones who sent you?
22 Don't exploit the poor, because he is poor;
And don't crush the needy in court;
23 For the LORD will plead their case,
And plunder the life of those who plunder them.
24 Don't befriend a hot-tempered man,
And don't associate with one who harbors anger:
25 Lest you learn his ways,
And ensnare your soul.
26 Don't you be one of those who strike hands,
Of those who are collateral for debts.
27 If you don't have means to pay,
Why should he take away your bed from under you?
28 Don't move the ancient boundary stone,
Which your fathers have set up.
29 Do you see a man skilled in his work?
He will serve kings;
He won't serve obscure men.
OLD TESTAMENT: EXODUS 32:1 - 33:23
32:1 When the people saw that Moshe delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aharon, and said to him, "Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moshe, the man who brought us up out of the land of Mitzrayim, we don't know what has become of him." 2 Aharon said to them, "Take off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me." 3 All the people took off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aharon. 4 He received what they handed him, and fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it a molten calf; and they said, "These are your gods, Yisra'el, which brought you up out of the land of Mitzrayim." 5 When Aharon saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aharon made a proclamation, and said, "Tomorrow shall be a feast to the LORD." 6 They rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace-offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. 7 The LORD spoke to Moshe, "Go, get down; for your people, who you brought up out of the land of Mitzrayim, have corrupted themselves! 8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, 'These are your gods, Yisra'el, which brought you up out of the land of Mitzrayim.'" 9 The LORD said to Moshe, "I have seen these people, and, behold, they are a stiff-necked people. 10 Now therefore leave me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them, and that I may consume them; and I will make of you a great nation." 11 Moshe begged the LORD his God, and said, "The LORD, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, that you have brought forth out of the land of Mitzrayim with great power and with a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Mitzrim speak, saying, 'He brought them forth for evil, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the surface of the eretz?' Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people. 13 Remember Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yisra'el, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, 'I will multiply your seed as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.'"14 The LORD repented of the evil which he said he would do to his people. 15 Moshe turned, and went down from the mountain, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand; tablets that were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other they were written. 16 The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tables. 17 When Yehoshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moshe, "There is the noise of war in the camp."
18 He said, "It isn't the voice of those who shout for victory, neither is it the voice of those who cry for being overcome; but the noise of those who sing that I hear." 19 It happened, as soon as he came near to the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing: and Moshe' anger grew hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mountain. 20 He took the calf which they had made, and burnt it with fire, ground it to powder, and scattered it on the water, and made the children of Yisra'el drink of it. 21 Moshe said to Aharon, "What did this people to you, that you have brought a great sin on them?" 22 Aharon said, "Don't let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil. 23 For they said to me, 'Make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moshe, the man who brought us up out of the land of Mitzrayim, we don't know what has become of him.' 24 I said to them, 'Whoever has any gold, let them take it off:' so they gave it me; and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf." 25 When Moshe saw that the people had broken loose, (for Aharon had let them loose for a derision among their enemies,) 26 then Moshe stood in the gate of the camp, and said, "Whoever is on the LORD's side, come to me!" All the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him. 27 He said to them, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, 'Every man put his sword on his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and every man kill his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor." 28 The sons of Levi did according to the word of Moshe: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men. 29 Moshe said, "Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, yes, every man against his son, and against his brother; that he may bestow on you a blessing this day." 30 It happened on the next day, that Moshe said to the people, "You have sinned a great sin. Now I will go up to the LORD. Perhaps I shall make atonement for your sin." 31 Moshe returned to the LORD, and said, "Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold. 32 Yet now, if you will, forgive their sin-- and if not, please blot me out of your book which you have written." 33 The LORD said to Moshe, "Whoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. 34 Now go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you. Behold, my angel shall go before you. Nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin." 35 The LORD struck the people, because they made the calf, which Aharon made.
33:1 The LORD spoke to Moshe, "Depart, go up from here, you and the people that you have brought up out of the land of Mitzrayim, to the land of which I swore to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov, saying, 'I will give it to your seed.' 2 I will send an angel before you; and I will drive out the Kana`ani, the Amori, and the Hittite, and the Perizzi, the Hivvi, and the Yevusi: 3 to a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of you, for you are a stiff-necked people, lest I consume you in the way." 4 When the people heard this evil news, they mourned: and no one put on his jewelry. 5 The LORD said to Moshe, "Tell the children of Yisra'el, 'You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go up into your midst for one moment, I would consume you. Therefore now take off your jewelry from you, that I may know what to do to you." 6 The children of Yisra'el stripped themselves of their jewelry from Mount Horev onward. 7 Now Moshe used to take the tent and to pitch it outside the camp, far away from the camp, and he called it "The tent of meeting." It happened that everyone who sought the LORD went out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp. 8 It happened that when Moshe went out to the Tent, that all the people rose up, and stood, everyone at their tent door, and watched Moshe, until he had gone into the Tent. 9 It happened, when Moshe entered into the Tent, that the pillar of cloud descended, stood at the door of the Tent, and spoke with Moshe. 10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud stand at the door of the Tent, and all the people rose up and worshiped, everyone at their tent door. 11 The LORD spoke to Moshe face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. He turned again into the camp, but his servant Yehoshua, the son of Nun, a young man, didn't depart out of the Tent. 12 Moshe said to the LORD, "Behold, you tell me, 'Bring up this people:' and you haven't let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, 'I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.' 13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you, so that I may find favor in your sight: and consider that this nation is your people." 14 He said, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." 15 He said to him, "If your presence doesn't go with me, don't carry us up from here. 16 For how would people know that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Isn't it in that you go with us, so that we are separated, I and your people, from all the people who are on the surface of the eretz?"17 The LORD said to Moshe, "I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name." 18 He said, "Please show me your glory." 19 He said, "I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy." 20 He said, "You cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live." 21 The LORD also said, "Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand on the rock. 22 It will happen, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand until I have passed by; 23 then I will take away my hand, and you will see my back; but my face shall not be seen."
NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 26:69 - 27:14
26:69 Now Kefa was sitting outside in the court, and a maid came to him, saying, "You were also with Yeshua, from the Galil!" 70 But he denied before them all, saying, "I don't know what you are talking about." 71 When he had gone out onto the porch, someone else saw him, and said to those who were there, "This man also was with Yeshua of Natzeret."72 Again he denied with an oath, "I don't know the man." 73 After a little while those who stood by came and said to Kefa, "Surely you are also one of them, for your speech makes you known." 74 Then began he to curse and to swear, "I don't know the man!" Immediately the cock crowed. 75 Kefa remembered the word which Yeshua had said to him, "Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times." He went out and wept bitterly.
27:1 Now when morning had come, all the chief Kohanim and the Zakenim of the people took counsel against Yeshua to put him to death: 2 and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor. 3 Then Yehudah, who betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, felt remorse, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief Kohanim and Zakenim, 4 saying, "I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? You see to it." 5 He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary, and departed. He went away and hanged himself. 6 The chief Kohanim took the pieces of silver, and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood." 7 They took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8 Therefore that field was called "The Field of Blood" to this day. 9 Then that which was spoken through Yirmeyahu the prophet was fulfilled, saying, "They took the thirty pieces of silver, The price on him upon whom a price had been set, Whom some of the children of Yisra'el priced, 10 And they gave them for the potter's field, As the Lord commanded me." 11 Now Yeshua stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, "Are you the King of the Yehudim?" Yeshua said to him, "So you say." 12 When he was accused by the chief Kohanim and Zakenim, he answered nothing. 13 Then Pilate said to him, "Don't you hear how many things they testify against you?" 14 He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.
