THEinc-HIM Daily Bible Meditation – January 7 – Full Text – Shabbat Shalom!

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

JANUARY 7

PSALMS: 7, 37, 67, 97, 127

PROVERBS: 7

OLD TESTAMENT: DEUTERONOMY 11:1 - 12:32

NEW TESTAMENT: LUKE 8:22 - 39

PSALMS: 7

1 LORD, my God, I take refuge in you.

Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,

2 Lest they tear apart my soul like a lion,

Rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

3 LORD, my God, if I have done this,

If there is iniquity in my hands,

4 If I have rewarded evil to him who was at shalom with me

(Yes, I have delivered him who without cause was my adversary),

5 Let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it;

Yes, let him tread my life down to the eretz,

And lay my glory in the dust. Selah.

6 Arise, LORD, in your anger.

Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries.

Awake for me. You have commanded judgment.

7 Let the congregation of the peoples surround you.

Rule over them on high.

8 The LORD administers judgment to the peoples.

Judge me, LORD, according to my righteousness,

And to my integrity that is in me.

9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end,

But establish the righteous;

Their minds and hearts are searched by the righteous God.

10 My shield is with God,

Who saves the upright in heart.

11 God is a righteous judge,

Yes, a God who has indignation every day.

12 If a man doesn't relent, he will sharpen his sword;

He has bent and strung his bow.

13 He has also prepared for himself the instruments of death.

He makes ready his flaming arrows.

14 Behold, he travails with iniquity;

Yes, he has conceived mischief and brought forth falsehood.

15 He has dug a hole,

And has fallen into the pit which he made.

16 The trouble he causes shall return to his own head.

His violence shall come down on the crown of his own head.

17 I will give thanks to the LORD according to his righteousness,

And will sing praise to the name of the LORD Elyon.

PSALMS: 37

1 Don't fret because of evil-doers,

Neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness.

2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,

And wither like the green herb.

3 Trust in the LORD, and do good.

Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Also delight yourself in the LORD,

And he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD.

Trust also in him, and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness go forth as the light,

And your justice as the noon day sun.

7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him.

Don't fret because of him who prospers in his way,

Because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.

8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath.

Don't fret, it leads only to evildoing.

9 For evildoers shall be cut off,

But those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.

10 For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more.

Yes, though you look for his place, he isn't there.

11 But the humble shall inherit the land,

And shall delight themselves in the abundance of shalom.

12 The wicked plots against the just,

And gnashes at him with his teeth.

13 The Lord will laugh at him,

For he sees that his day is coming.

14 The wicked have drawn out the sword,

and have bent their bow,

To cast down the poor and needy,

To kill those who are upright in the way.

15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart.

Their bows shall be broken.

16 Better is a little that the righteous has,

Than the abundance of many wicked.

17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,

But the LORD upholds the righteous.

18 The LORD knows the days of the perfect.

Their inheritance shall be forever.

19 They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil.

In the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20 But the wicked shall perish.

The enemies of the LORD shall be like the beauty of the fields.

They will vanish -- Vanish like smoke.

21 The wicked borrow, and don't pay back,

But the righteous give generously.

22 For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the land.

Those who are cursed by him shall be cut off.

23 A man's goings are established by the LORD.

He delights in his way.

24 Though he stumble, he shall not fall,

For the LORD holds him up with his hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old,

Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,

Nor his children begging for bread.

26 All day long he deals graciously, and lends.

His seed is blessed.

27 Depart from evil, and do good;

Live securely forever.

28 For the LORD loves justice,

And doesn't forsake his holy ones.

They are preserved forever,

But the children of the wicked shall be cut off.

29 The righteous shall inherit the land,

And live in it forever.

30 The mouth of the righteous talks of wisdom.

His tongue speaks justice.

31 The law of his God is in his heart.

None of his steps shall slide.

32 The wicked watches the righteous,

And seeks to kill him.

33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand,

Nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait for the LORD, and keep his way,

And he will exalt you to inherit the land.

When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.

35 I have seen the wicked in great power,

Spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.

36 But he passed away, and, behold, he was not.

Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the perfect man, and see the upright,

For there is a future for the man of shalom.

38 As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together.

The future of the wicked shall be cut off.

39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD.

He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.

40 The LORD helps them, and rescues them.

He rescues them from the wicked, and saves them,

Because they have taken refuge in him.

PSALMS: 67

1 May God be merciful to us, bless us,

And cause his face to shine on us. Selah.

2 That your way may be known on eretz,

And your yeshu`ah among all nations,

3 Let the peoples praise you, God.

Let all the peoples praise you.

4 Oh let the nations be glad and sing for joy,

For you will judge the peoples with equity,

And govern the nations on eretz.

Selah.

5 Let the peoples praise you, God.

Let all the peoples praise you.

6 The eretz has yielded its increase.

God, even our own God, will bless us.

7 God will bless us.

All the ends of the eretz shall fear him.

PSALMS: 97

1 The LORD reigns!

Let the eretz rejoice.

Let the multitude of islands be glad.

2 Clouds and darkness are around him.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

3 A fire goes before him,

And burns up his adversaries on every side.

4 His lightning lights up the world;

The eretz sees, and trembles.

5 The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD,

At the presence of the Lord of the whole eretz.

6 The heavens declare his righteousness.

All the peoples have seen his glory.

7 Let all them be put to shame who serve engraved images,

Who boast in their idols.

Worship him, all you gods!

8 Tziyon heard and was glad.

The daughters of Yehudah rejoiced,

Because of your judgments, LORD.

9 For you, LORD, are most high above all the eretz.

You are exalted far above all gods.

10 You who love the LORD, hate evil.

He preserves the souls of his holy ones.

He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

11 Light is sown for the righteous,

And gladness for the upright in heart.

12 Be glad in the LORD, you righteous people!

Give thanks to his holy Name.

PSALMS: 127

1 Unless the LORD builds the house,

They labor in vain who build it.

Unless the LORD watches over the city,

The watchman guards it in vain.

2 It is vain for you to rise up early,

To stay up late, Eating the bread of toil;

For he gives sleep to his loved ones.

3 Behold, children are a heritage of the LORD.

The fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man,

So are the children of youth.

5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them.

They won't be put to shame when they speak with their enemies in the gate.

PROVERBS: 7

1 My son, keep my words.

Lay up my mitzvot within you.

2 Keep my mitzvot and live;

Guard my teaching as the apple of your eye.

3 Bind them on your fingers.

Write them on the tablet of your heart.

4 Tell wisdom, "You are my sister."

Call understanding your relative,

5 That they may keep you from the strange woman,

From the foreigner who flatters with her words.

6 For at the window of my house,

I looked forth through my lattice.

7 I saw among the simple ones.

I discerned among the youths a young man void of understanding,

8Passing through the street near her corner,

He went the way to her house,

9 In the twilight, in the evening of the day,

In the middle of the night and in the darkness.

10 Behold, there a woman met him with the attire of a prostitute,

And with crafty intent.

11 She is loud and defiant.

Her feet don't stay in her house.

12 Now she is in the streets, now in the squares,

And lurking at every corner.

13 So she caught him, and kissed him.

With an impudent face she said to him:

14 "Sacrifices of peace-offerings are with me.

This day I have paid my vows.

15 Therefore I came out to meet you,

To diligently seek your face, And I have found you.

16 I have spread my couch with carpets of tapestry,

With striped cloths of the yarn of Mitzrayim.

17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh,

aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Come, let's take our fill of loving until the morning.

Let's solace ourselves with loving.

19 For my husband isn't at home.

He has gone on a long journey.

20 He has taken a bag of money with him.

He will come home at the full moon."

21 With persuasive words, she led him astray.

With the flattering of her lips, she seduced him.

22 He followed her immediately,

As an ox goes to the slaughter,

As a fool stepping into a noose.

23 Until an arrow strikes through his liver,

As a bird hurries to the snare,

And doesn't know that it will cost his life.

24 Now therefore, sons, listen to me.

Pay attention to the words of my mouth.

25 Don't let your heart turn to her ways.

Don't go astray in her paths,

26 For she has thrown down many wounded.

Yes, all her slain are a mighty host.

27 Her house is the way to She'ol,

Going down to the chambers of death.

OLD TESTAMENT: DEUTERONOMY 11:1 - 12:32

11:1 Therefore you shall love the LORD your God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his ordinances, and his mitzvot, always. 2 Know you this day: for I don't speak with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm, 3 and his signs, and his works, which he did in the midst of Mitzrayim to Par`oh the king of Mitzrayim, and to all his land; 4 and what he did to the army of Mitzrayim, to their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Sea of Suf to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD has destroyed them to this day; 5 and what he did to you in the wilderness, until you came to this place; 6 and what he did to Datan and Aviram, the sons of Eli'av, the son of Re'uven; how the eretz opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the midst of all Yisra'el: 7 but your eyes have seen all the great work of the LORD which he did. 8 Therefore shall you keep all the mitzvah which I command you this day, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land, where you go over to possess it; 9 and that you may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD swore to your fathers to give to them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey. 10 For the land, where you go in to possess it, isn't as the land of Mitzrayim, from whence you came out, where you sowed your seed, and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs; 11 but the land, where you go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, [and] drinks water of the rain of the sky, 12 a land which the LORD your God cares for: the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year. 13 It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my mitzvot which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, and your new wine, and your oil. 15 I will give grass in your fields for your cattle, and you shall eat and be full. 16 Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; 17 and the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and he shut up the sky, so that there shall be no rain, and the land shall not yield its fruit; and you perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD gives you. 18 Therefore shall you lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and you shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for symbols between your eyes. 19 You shall teach them your children, talking of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. 20 You shall write them on the door-posts of your house, and on your gates; 21 that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the eretz. 22 For if you shall diligently keep all this mitzvah which I command you, to do it, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave to him; 23 then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves. 24 Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Levanon, from the river, the river Perat, even to the hinder sea shall be your border. 25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you shall tread on, as he has spoken to you. 26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:

27  the blessing, if you shall listen to the mitzvot of the LORD your God, which I command you this day; 28 and the curse, if you shall not listen to the mitzvot of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which you have not known. 29 It shall happen, when the LORD your God shall bring you into the land where you go to possess it, that you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount `Eval. 30 Aren't they beyond the Yarden, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Kana`anim who dwell in the `Aravah, over against Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh? 31 For you are to pass over the Yarden to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God gives you, and you shall possess it, and dwell therein. 32 You shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you this day.

12:1 These are the statutes and the ordinances which you shall observe to do in the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess it, all the days that you live on the eretz. 2 You shall surely destroy all the places in which the nations that you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains, and on the hills, and under every green tree: 3 and you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and burn their Asherim with fire; and you shall cut down the engraved images of their gods; and you shall destroy their name out of that place. 4 You shall not do so to the LORD your God. 5 But to the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even to his habitation shall you seek, and there you shall come; 6 and there you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill-offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock: 7 and there you shall eat before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which the LORD your God has blessed you. 8 You shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatever is right in his own eyes; 9 for you haven't yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God gives you. 10 But when you go over the Yarden, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies round about, so that you dwell in safety; 11 then it shall happen that to the place which the LORD your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there shall you bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to the LORD. 12 You shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you, and your sons, and your daughters, and your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you. 13 Take heed to yourself that you don't offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see; 14 but in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you. 15 Notwithstanding, you may kill and eat flesh within all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which he has given you: the unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle, and as of the hart. 16 Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it out on the eretz as water. 17  You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill-offerings, nor the heave-offering of your hand; 18 but you shall eat them before the LORD your God in the place which the LORD your God shall choose, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your man-servant, and your maid-servant, and the Levite who is within your gates: and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God in all that you put your hand to. 19 Take heed to yourself that you don't forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land. 20 When the LORD your God shall enlarge your border, as he has promised you, and you shall say, I will eat flesh, because your soul desires to eat flesh; you may eat flesh, after all the desire of your soul. 21 If the place which the LORD your God shall choose, to put his name there, be too far from you, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock, which the LORD has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat within your gates, after all the desire of your soul. 22 Even as the gazelle and as the hart is eaten, so you shall eat of it: the unclean and the clean may eat of it alike. 23 Only be sure that you don't eat the blood: for the blood is the life; and you shall not eat the life with the flesh. 24 You shall not eat it; you shall pour it out on the eretz as water. 25 You shall not eat it; that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, when you shall do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD. 26 Only your holy things which you have, and your vows, you shall take, and go to the place which the LORD shall choose: 27 and you shall offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of the LORD your God; and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on the altar of the LORD your God; and you shall eat the flesh. 28 Observe and hear all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you forever, when you do that which is good and right in the eyes of the LORD your God. 29 When the LORD your God shall cut off the nations from before you, where you go in to dispossess them, and you dispossess them, and dwell in their land; 30  take heed to yourself that you not be ensnared to follow them, after that they are destroyed from before you; and that you not inquire after their gods, saying, How do these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. 31 You shall not do so to the LORD your God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hates, have they done to their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods. 32 Whatever thing I command you, that shall you observe to do: you shall not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

NEW TESTAMENT: LUKE 8:22 - 39

8:22 Now it happened on one of those days, that he entered into a boat, himself and his talmidim, and he said to them, "Let's go over to the other side of the lake." So they launched out.

23 But as they sailed, he fell asleep. A wind storm came down on the lake, and they were taking on dangerous amounts of water.

24 They came to him, and awoke him, saying, "Master, master, we are dying!" He awoke, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and it was calm.

25 He said to them, "Where is your faith?" Being afraid they marveled, saying one to another, "Who is this, then, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?"

26 They arrived at the country of the Gadara, which is opposite Galil.

27  When Yeshua stepped ashore, a certain man out of the city met him, who had demons for a long time. He wore no clothes, and didn't live in a house, but in the tombs.

28 When he saw Yeshua, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, "What do I have to do with you, Yeshua, you Son of Ha`Elyon God? I beg you, don't torment me!"

29 For Yeshua was commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For the unclean spirit had often seized the man. He was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters. Breaking the bands apart, he was driven by the demon into the desert.

30 Yeshua asked him, "What is your name?" He said, "Legion," for many demons had entered into him.

31 They begged him that he would not command them to go into the abyss.

32 Now there was there a herd of many pigs feeding on the mountain, and they begged him that he would allow them to enter into those. He allowed them.

33 The demons came out from the man, and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake, and were drowned.

34 When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled, and told it in the city and in the country.

35 People went out to see what had happened. They came to Yeshua, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting, clothed and in his right mind, at the feet of Yeshua; and they were afraid.

36 Those who saw it told them how he who was possessed by demons was healed.

37 All the people of the surrounding country of the Gadara asked him to depart from them, for they were very much afraid. He entered into the boat, and returned.

38 But the man from whom the demons had gone out begged him that he might go with him, but Yeshua sent him away, saying,

39 "Return to your house, and declare what great things God has done for you." He went his way, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Yeshua had done for him.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
