1 Hear, LORD, my righteous plea;
Give ear to my prayer, that doesn't go out of deceitful lips.
2 Let my sentence come forth from your presence;
Let your eyes look on equity.
3 You have proved my heart;
you have visited me in the night;
You have tried me, and found nothing;
I have resolved that my mouth shall not disobey.
4 As for the works of men,
by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.
5 My steps have held fast to your paths,
My feet have not slipped.
6 I have called on you, for you will answer me, God:
Turn your ear to me.
Hear my speech.
7 Show your marvelous loving kindness,
You who save those who take refuge by
your right hand from their enemies.
8 Keep me as the apple of your eye;
Hide me under the shadow of your wings,
9 From the wicked who oppress me,
My deadly enemies, who compass me about.
10 They close up their callous hearts.
With their mouth they speak proudly.
11 They have now surrounded us in our steps.
They set their eyes to cast us down to the eretz.
12 He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey,
As it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
13 Arise, LORD, Confront him, cast him down.
Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword;
14 From men by your hand, LORD,
From men of the world, whose portion is in this life,
Whose belly you fill with your treasure:
They are satisfied with children,
Leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
15 As for me, I shall see your face in righteousness;
I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with seeing your form.
PSALMS: 47
1 Oh clap your hands, all you nations.
Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
2 For the LORD Elyon is awesome.
He is a great King over all the eretz.
3 He subdues nations under us,
And peoples under our feet.
4 He chooses our inheritance for us,
The glory of Ya`akov whom he loved.
Selah.
5 God has gone up with a shout,
The LORD with the sound of a shofar.
6 Sing praise to God, sing praises.
Sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the eretz.
Sing praises with understanding.
8 God reigns over the nations.
God sits on his holy throne.
9 The princes of the peoples are gathered together,
The people of the God of Avraham.
For the shields of the eretz belong to God.
He is greatly exalted!
PSALMS: 77
1 My cry goes to God! Indeed,
I cry to God for help,
And for him to listen to me.
2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord.
My hand was stretched out in the night, and didn't get tired.
My soul refused to be comforted.
3 I remember God, and I groan.
I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed.
Selah.
4 You hold my eyelids open.
I am so troubled that I can't speak.
5 I have considered the days of old,
The years of ancient times.
6 I remember my song in the night.
I consider in my own heart;
My spirit diligently inquires:
7 "Will the Lord reject us forever?
Will he be favorable no more?
8 Has his loving kindness vanished forever?
Does his promise fail for generations?
9 Has God forgotten to be gracious?
Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?"
Selah.
10Then I thought,
"I will appeal to this:
The years of the right hand of Ha`Elyon."
11 I will remember the LORD's deeds;
For I will remember your wonders of old.
12 I will also meditate on all your work,
And consider your doings.
13 Your way, God, is in the sanctuary.
What god is great like God?
14 You are the God who does wonders.
You have made your strength known among the peoples.
15 You have redeemed your people with your arm,
The sons of Ya`akov and Yosef. Selah.
16 The waters saw you, God.
The waters saw you, and they writhed.
The depths also convulsed.
17 The clouds poured out water.
The skies resounded with thunder.
Your arrows also flashed around.
18 The voice of your thunder was in the whirlwind.
The lightnings lit up the world.
The eretz trembled and shook.
19 Your way was through the sea;
Your paths through the great waters.
Your footsteps were not known.
20 You led your people like a flock,
By the hand of Moshe and Aharon.
PSALMS: 107
1 Give thanks to the LORD,
For he is good,
For his loving kindness endures forever.
2 Let the redeemed by the LORD say so,
Whom he has redeemed from the hand of the adversary,
3 Gathered out of the lands,
From the east and from the west,
From the north and from the south.
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way.
They found no city to live in.
5 Hungry and thirsty,
Their soul fainted in them.
6 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
And he delivered them out of their distresses,
7 He led them also by a straight way,
That they might go to a city to live in.
8 Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness,
For his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 For he satisfies the longing soul.
He fills the hungry soul with good.
10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
Being bound in affliction and iron,
11 Because they rebelled against the words of God,
And condemned the counsel of Ha`Elyon.
12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labor.
They fell down, and there was none to help.
13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
And he saved them out of their distresses.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
And broke their bonds in sunder.
15 Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness,
For his wonderful works to the children of men!
16 For he has broken the gates of brass,
And cut through bars of iron.
17 Fools are afflicted because of their disobedience,
And because of their iniquities.
18 Their soul abhors all kinds of food.
They draw near to the gates of death.
19 Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble,
He saves them out of their distresses.
20 He sends his word, and heals them,
And delivers them from their graves.
21 Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness,
For his wonderful works to the children of men!
22 Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And declare his works with singing.
23 Those who go down to the sea in ships,
Who do business in great waters;
24 These see the LORD's works,
And his wonders in the deep.
25 For he commands, and raises the stormy wind,
Which lifts up its waves.
26 They mount up to the sky;
they go down again to the depths.
Their soul melts away because of trouble.
27 They reel back and forth, and stagger like a drunken man,
And are at their wits' end.
28 Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble,
He brings them out of their distress.
29 He makes the storm a calm,
So that its waves are still.
30 Then are they glad because it is calm,
So he brings them to their desired haven.
31 Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness,
For his wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Let them exalt him also in the assembly of the people,
And praise him in the seat of the Zakenim.
33 He turns rivers into a desert,
Water springs into a thirsty ground,
34 And a fruitful land into a salt waste,
For the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
35 He turns a desert into a pool of water,
And a dry land into water springs.
36 There he makes the hungry to live,
That they may prepare a city to live in,
37 Sow fields, plant vineyards,
And reap the fruits of increase.
38 He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly.
He doesn't allow their cattle to decrease.
39 Again, they are diminished and bowed down
Through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.
40 He pours contempt on princes,
And causes them to wander in a trackless waste.
41 Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction,
And increases their families like a flock.
42 The upright will see it, and be glad.
All the wicked will shut their mouths.
43 Whoever is wise will pay attention to these things.
They will consider the loving
kindnesses of the LORD.
PSALMS: 137
1 By the rivers of Bavel, there we sat down.
Yes, we wept, when we remembered Tziyon.
2 On the willows in the midst of it,
We hung up our harps.
3 For there, those who led us captive asked us for songs.
Those who tormented us demanded songs of joy:
"Sing us one of the songs of Tziyon!"
4 How can we sing the LORD's song in a foreign land?
5 If I forget you, Yerushalayim,
Let my right hand forget its skill.
6 Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,
If I don't remember you;
If I don't prefer Yerushalayim above my chief joy.
7 Remember, LORD, against the children of Edom,
The day of Yerushalayim;
Who said, "Raze it! Raze it even to its foundation!"
8 Daughter of Bavel, doomed to destruction,
He will be happy who rewards you,
As you have served us.
9 Happy shall he be,
Who takes and dashes your little ones against the rock.
PROVERBS: 17
1 Better is a dry morsel with quietness,
Than a house full of feasting with strife.
2 A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who causes shame,
And shall have a part in the inheritance among the brothers.
3 The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold,
But the LORD tests the hearts.
4 An evil-doer gives heed to wicked lips.
A liar gives ear to a mischievous tongue.
5 Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker.
He who is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.
6 Children's children are the crown of old men;
The glory of children are their parents.
7 Arrogant speech isn't fitting for a fool,
Much less do lying lips fit a prince.
8 A bribe is a precious stone in the eyes of him who gives it;
Wherever he turns, he prospers.
9 He who covers an offense promotes love;
But he who repeats a matter separates best friends.
10 A rebuke enters deeper into one who has understanding
Than a hundred lashes into a fool.
11 An evil man seeks only rebellion;
Therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
12 Let a bear robbed of her cubs meet a man,
Rather than a fool in his folly.
13 Whoever rewards evil for good,
Evil shall not depart from his house.
14 The beginning of strife is like breaching a dam,
Therefore stop contention before quarreling breaks out.
15 He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
16 Why is there money in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom,
Seeing he has no understanding?
17 A friend loves at all times;
And a brother is born for adversity.
18 A man void of understanding strikes hands,
And becomes collateral in the presence of his neighbor.
19 He who loves disobedience loves strife.
One who builds a high gate seeks destruction.
20 One who has a perverse heart doesn't find prosperity,
And one who has a deceitful tongue falls into trouble.
21 He who becomes the father of a fool grieves.
The father of a fool has no joy.
22 A cheerful heart makes good medicine,
But a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
23 A wicked man receives a bribe in secret,
To pervert the ways of justice.
24 Wisdom is before the face of one who has understanding,
But the eyes of a fool wander to the ends of the eretz.
25 A foolish son brings grief to his father,
And bitterness to her who bore him.
26 Also to punish the righteous is not good,
Nor to flog officials for their integrity.
27 He who spares his words has knowledge.
He who is even tempered is a man of understanding.
28 Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is counted wise.
When he shuts his lips, he is thought to be discerning.
OLD TESTAMENT: NUMBERS 10:1 - 11:23
10:1 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 2 Make you two trumpets of silver; of beaten work shall you make them: and you shall use them for the calling of the congregation, and for the journeying of the camps. 3 When they shall blow them, all the congregation shall gather themselves to you at the door of the tent of meeting. 4 If they blow but one, then the princes, the heads of the thousands of Yisra'el, shall gather themselves to you. 5 When you blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall take their journey. 6 When you blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys. 7 But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm. 8 The sons of Aharon, the Kohanim, shall blow the trumpets; and they shall be to you for a statute forever throughout your generations. 9 When you go to war in your land against the adversary who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets; and you shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and you shall be saved from your enemies. 10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your set feasts, and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; and they shall be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God. 11 It happened in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, that the cloud was taken up from over the tent of the testimony. 12 The children of Yisra'el set forward according to their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud abode in the wilderness of Paran. 13 They first took their journey according to the mitzvah of the LORD by Moshe. 14 In the first [place] the standard of the camp of the children of Yehudah set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Nachshon the son of `Amminadav. 15 Over the host of the tribe of the children of Yissakhar was Netan'el the son of Tzu`ar. 16 Over the host of the tribe of the children of Zevulun was Eli'av the son of Helon. 17 The tent was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, who bore the tent, set forward. 18 The standard of the camp of Re'uven set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Elitzur the son of Shede'ur. 19 Over the host of the tribe of the children of Shim`on was Shelumi'el the son of Tzurishaddai. 20 Over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Elyasaf the son of De`u'el. 21 The Kehati set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and [the others] did set up the tent against their coming. 22 The standard of the camp of the children of Efrayim set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Elishama the son of `Ammihud. 23 Over the host of the tribe of the children of Menashsheh was Gamli'el the son of Pedatzur. 24 Over the host of the tribe of the children of Binyamin was Avidan the son of Gid`oni. 25 The standard of the camp of the children of Dan, which was the rearward of all the camps, set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Achi`ezer the son of `Ammishaddai. 26 Over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pag`i'el the son of `Okhran. 27 Over the host of the tribe of the children of Naftali was Achira the son of `Enan.28 Thus were the travels of the children of Yisra'el according to their hosts; and they set forward. 29 Moshe said to Hovav, the son of Re`u'el the Midyanite, Moshe' father-in-law, We are journeying to the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come you with us, and we will do you good; for the LORD has spoken good concerning Yisra'el. 30 He said to him, I will not go; but I will depart to my own land, and to my relatives. 31 He said, Don't leave us, please; because you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you shall be to us instead of eyes. 32 It shall be, if you go with us, yes, it shall be, that whatever good the LORD shall do to us, the same will we do to you. 33 They set forward from the Mount of the LORD three days' journey; and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them three days' journey, to seek out a resting-place for them. 34 The cloud of the LORD was over them by day, when they set forward from the camp. 35 It happened, when the ark set forward, that Moshe said, Rise up, LORD, and let your enemies be scattered; and let those who hate you flee before you. 36 When it rested, he said, Return, LORD, to the ten thousands of the thousands of Yisra'el.
11:1 The people were as murmurers, [speaking] evil in the ears of the LORD: and when the LORD heard it, his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp. 2 The people cried to Moshe; and Moshe prayed to the LORD, and the fire abated. 3 The name of that place was called Tav`erah, because the fire of the LORD burnt among them. 4 The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Yisra'el also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat? 5 We remember the fish, which we ate in Mitzrayim for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic: 6 but now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all save this manna to look on. 7 The manna was like coriander seed, and the appearance of it as the appearance of bdellium. 8 The people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil. 9 When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it. 10 Moshe heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; and Moshe was displeased. 11 Moshe said to the LORD, Why have you dealt ill with your servant? and why haven't I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me? 12 Have I conceived all this people? have I brought them forth, that you should tell me, Carry them in your bosom, as a nursing-father carries the sucking child, to the land which you swore to their fathers? 13 Whence should I have flesh to give to all this people? for they weep to me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat. 14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. 15 If you deal thus with me, please kill me out of hand, if I have found favor in your sight; and let me not see my wretchedness. 16 The LORD said to Moshe, Gather to me seventy men of the Zakenim of Yisra'el, whom you know to be the Zakenim of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 I will come down and talk with you there: and I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone. 18 Say you to the people, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and you shall eat flesh; for you have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Mitzrayim: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and you shall eat. 19 You shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days, 20 but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome to you; because that you have rejected the LORD who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Mitzrayim? 21 Moshe said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and you have said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. 22 Shall flocks and herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? 23 The LORD said to Moshe, Has the LORD's hand grown short? now shall you see whether my word shall happen to you or not.
NEW TESTAMENT: MARK 14:1 - 21
14:1 It was now two days before the feast of the Pesach and the matzah, and the chief Kohanim and the Sofrim sought how they might sieze him by deception, and kill him.
2 For they said, "Not during the feast, because there might be a riot of the people."
3 While he was at Beit-Anyah, in the house of Shim`on the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard -- very costly. She broke the jar, and poured it over his head.
4 But there were some who had indignation among themselves, saying, "Why has this ointment been wasted?
5 For this might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and given to the poor." They grumbled against her.
6 But Yeshua said, "Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for me.
7 For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want to, you can do them good; but you will not always have me.
8 She has done what she could. She has anointed my body beforehand for the burying.
9 Most assuredly I tell you, wherever this Good News may be preached throughout the whole world, that also which this woman has done will be spoken of for a memorial of her."
10 Yehudah from K'riot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief Kohanim, that he might deliver him to them.
11 They, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. He sought how he might conveniently deliver him.
12 On the first day of matzah, when they sacrificed the Pesach, his talmidim asked him, "Where do you want us to go and make ready that you may eat the Pesach?"
13 He sent two of his talmidim, and said to them, "Go into the city, and there you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him,
14 and wherever he enters in, tell the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Pesach with my talmidim?"'
15 He will himself show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Make ready for us there."
16 His talmidim went out, and came into the city, and found things as he had said to them, and they prepared the Pesach.
17 When it was evening he came with the twelve.
18 As they sat and were eating, Yeshua said, "Most assuredly I tell you, one of you will betray me -- he who eats with me."
19 They began to be sorrowful, and to ask him one by one, "Surely not I?" And another said, "Surely not I?"
20 He answered them, "It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.
21 For the Son of Man goes, even as it is written about him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born."
