Judah God is known;

name is great in Israel.

tent is in Salem,

he broke the flashing arrows,

shields and the swords, the weapons of war.

are resplendent with light,

majestic than mountains rich with game.

Valiant
men lie plundered,
they

one of the warriors

Praise
the LORD. A
Give
thanks to the LORD, for he is good;

love endures forever.

Who
can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD
or
fully declare his praise?

Blessed
are they who maintain justice,
who
constantly do what is right.
4
Remember
me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people,
come
to my aid when you save them,
5
that
I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones,
that
I may share in the joy of your nation
and
join your inheritance in giving praise.
6
We
have sinned, even as our fathers did;
we
have done wrong and acted wickedly.
7
When
our fathers were in Egypt,
they
gave no thought to your miracles;
they
did not remember your many kindnesses,
and
they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea. B

Yet
he saved them for his name's sake,
to
make his mighty power known.

rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up;

the camp they grew envious of Moses

of Aaron, who was consecrated to the LORD.

The
earth opened up and swallowed Dathan;
it
buried the company of Abiram.

Fire
blazed among their followers;
a
flame consumed the wicked.

At
Horeb they made a calf
and
worshiped an idol cast from metal.
20
They
exchanged their Glory
for
an image of a bull, which eats grass.
21
They
forgot the God who saved them,
who
had done great things in Egypt,
22
miracles
in the land of Ham
and
awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
23
So
he said he would destroy them--
had
not Moses, his chosen one,
stood
in the breach before him
to
keep his wrath from destroying them.
24
Then
they despised the pleasant land;
they
did not believe his promise.
25
They
grumbled in their tents
and
did not obey the LORD.
26
So
he swore to them with uplifted hand
that
he would make them fall in the desert,
27
make
their descendants fall among the nations [7]
and
scatter them throughout the lands.
28
They
yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor
and
ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;
29
they
provoked the LORD to anger by their wicked deeds,
and
a plague broke out among them.
30
But
Phinehas stood up and intervened,
and
the plague was checked.
31
This
was credited to him as righteousness
for
endless generations to come.
32
By
the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD,
and
trouble came to Moses because of them;
33
for
they rebelled against the Spirit of God,
and
rash words came from Moses' lips. C

They
did not destroy the peoples
as
the LORD had commanded them,
35
but
they mingled with the nations
and
adopted their customs.
36
They
worshiped their idols,
which
became a snare to them.
37
They
sacrificed their sons
and
their daughters to demons.
38
They
shed innocent blood,
the
blood of their sons and daughters,
whom
they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and
the land was desecrated by their blood.

They
defiled themselves by what they did;
by
their deeds they prostituted themselves.

Therefore
the LORD was angry with his people
and
abhorred his inheritance.

He
handed them over to the nations,
and
their foes ruled over them. [8]

Their
enemies oppressed them
and
subjected them to their power.
43
Many
times he delivered them,
but
they were bent on rebellion
and
they wasted away in their sin.
44
But
he took note of their distress
when
he heard their cry;

for
their sake he remembered his covenant
and
out of his great love he relented.

He
caused them to be pitied
by
all who held them captive.
47
Save
us, O LORD our God,
and
gather us from the nations,
that
we may give thanks to your holy name
and
glory in your praise.

PROVERBS: 16
16
1
To man belong the plans of the heart,
but
from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue.
2
All
a man's ways seem innocent to him,
but
motives are weighed by the LORD.
3
Commit
to the LORD whatever you do,
and
your plans will succeed.
4
The
LORD works out everything for his own ends--
even
the wicked for a day of disaster.
5
The
LORD detests all the proud of heart.
Be
sure of this: They will not go unpunished.
6
Through
love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;
through
the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil.
7
When
a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD,
he
makes even his enemies live at peace with him.
8
Better
a little with righteousness
than
much gain with injustice.
9
In
his heart a man plans his course,
but
the LORD determines his steps.
10
The
lips of a king speak as an oracle,
and
his mouth should not betray justice.
11
Honest
scales and balances are from the LORD;
all
the weights in the bag are of his making. [12]

Kings
detest wrongdoing,
for
a throne is established through righteousness.

take pleasure in honest lips;

value a man who speaks the truth.

TESTAMENT: GENESIS 11:1 -

1
Now
the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As men moved
eastward, A they found a plain in Shinar B and settled
there.
3
They
said to each other, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They
used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar.
4
Then
they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to
the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over
the face of the whole earth."
5
But
the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building.
6
The
LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do
this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7
Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not
understand each other."
8
So
the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building
the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel C--because
there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD
scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
10
This
is the account of Shem.
Two
years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father
D of Arphaxad. 11 And after he became the father of
Arphaxad, Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters.
12
When
Arphaxad had lived 35 years, he became the father of Shelah. 13 And
after he became the father of Shelah, Arphaxad lived 403 years and had other
sons and daughters. E

When
Shelah had lived 30 years, he became the father of Eber. 15 And after
he became the father of Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and had other sons and
daughters.
16
When
Eber had lived 34 years, he became the father of Peleg. 17 And after
he became the father of Peleg, Eber lived 430 years and had other sons and
daughters.

When
Peleg had lived 30 years, he became the father of Reu. 19 And after
he became the father of Reu, Peleg lived 209 years and had other sons and
daughters.

When
Reu had lived 32 years, he became the father of Serug. 21 And after
he became the father of Serug, Reu lived 207 years and had other sons and
daughters.

When
Serug had lived 30 years, he became the father of Nahor. 23And after
he became the father of Nahor, Serug lived 200 years and had [15]
other sons and daughters.
24When
Nahor had lived 29 years, he became the father of Terah. 25 And after
he became the father of Terah, Nahor lived 119 years and had other sons and
daughters.

After
Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.
27
This
is the account of Terah.
Terah
became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.
28 While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the
Chaldeans, in the land of his birth. 29 Abram and Nahor both married.
The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife was Milcah; she
was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milcah and Iscah. 30
Now Sarai was barren; she had no children.
31
Terah
took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law
Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the
Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there.
32
Terah
lived 205 years, and he died in Haran.

LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your
people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
2
"I will make you into a great nation
and
I will bless you;
I
will make your name great,
and
you will be a blessing.
3 I will
bless those who bless you,
and
whoever curses you I will curse;
and
all peoples on earth
will
be blessed through you."

So
Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was
seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran.
5
He
took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated
and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of
Canaan, and they arrived there.
6
Abram
traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at
Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 The LORD
appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring
A I will give this land." So
he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
8
From
there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with
Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the LORD and
called on the name of the LORD. 9 Then Abram set out and continued
toward the Negev.

Now
there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a
while because the famine was severe. 11 As he was about to enter
Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, "I know what a beautiful woman you are.
12 When the Egyptians see you, they will say, `This is his wife.'
Then they will kill me but will let you live. 13 Say you are my
sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared
because of you."
14
When
Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that she was a very beautiful woman.
15 And when Pharaoh's officials saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh,
and she was taken into his palace. 16 He treated Abram well for her
sake, and Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, menservants
and maidservants, and camels.
17
But
the LORD inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of
Abram's wife Sarai. 18 So Pharaoh summoned Abram. "What have you done
to me?" he said. "Why didn't you tell me she was your wife? 19 Why
did you say, `She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now then,
here is your wife. Take her and go!" 20 Then Pharaoh gave orders
about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and
everything he had.

So
Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and
Lot went with him. 2 Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and
in silver and gold. [17]

From
the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place
between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier 4 and where he
had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the LORD. [18]

when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples
came to him, 2 and he began to teach them, saying:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed
are those who mourn,
for
they will be comforted.
5 Blessed
are the meek,
for
they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed
are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for
they will be filled.
7 Blessed
are the merciful,
for
they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed
are the pure in heart,
for
they will see God.
9 Blessed
are the peacemakers,
for
they will be called sons of God.
10 Blessed
are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and
falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad,
because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the
prophets who were before you.
13
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its
saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything,
except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be
hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the
house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they
may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. [19]
17
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the
Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
18 I tell
you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not
the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until
everything is accomplished. 19
Anyone who breaks one of the least of
these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the
kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be
called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20
For I tell you that unless your
righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you
will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
21
"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, `Do
not murder, A and anyone who murders
will be subject to judgment.'
22 But
I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother B
will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother,
`Raca,
C' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But
anyone who says, `You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.
23
"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and
there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift
there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then
come and offer your gift.
25
"Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you
to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over
to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be
thrown into prison. 26 I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have
paid the last penny. D [20]
