PSALMS:
19
1 The
heavens declare the glory of God.
The
expanse shows his handiwork.
2 Day
after day they pour forth speech,
And
night after night they display knowledge.
3 There
is no speech nor language,
Where
their voice is not heard.
4 Their
voice has gone out through all the eretz,
Their
words to the end of the world.
In
them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 Which
is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
Like
a strong man rejoicing to run his course.
6 His
going forth is from the end of the heavens,
His
circuit to the ends of it;
There
is nothing hid from the heat of it.
7 The
law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul.
The
testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The
precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart.
The
mitzvah of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9
The
fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever.
The
ordinances of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.
10 More
to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold;
Sweeter
also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover
by them is your servant warned.
In
keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who
can discern his errors?
Forgive
me from hidden errors.
13 Keep
back your servant also from presumptuous sins.
Let
them not have dominion over me.
Then
I will be upright,
I
will be blameless and innocent of great transgression.
14 Let
the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be
acceptable in your sight, LORD, my rock, and my redeemer.
PSALMS:
49
1 Hear
this, all you peoples.
Listen,
all you inhabitants of the world,
Likewise
the fool and the senseless perish,
And
leave their wealth to others.
And
their dwelling places to all generations.
They
name their lands after themselves.
Death
shall be their shepherd.
The
upright shall have dominion over them in the morning.
Their
beauty shall decay in She'ol,
Far
from their mansion.
15 But
God will redeem my soul from the power of She'ol,
For
he will receive me.
Selah.
16 Don't
be afraid when a man is made rich,
When
the glory of his house is increased.
17 For
when he dies he shall carry nothing away.
His
glory shall not descend after him.
18 Though
while he lived he blessed his soul --
And
men praise you when you do well for yourself --
19 He
shall go to the generation of his fathers.
They
shall never see the light.
20 A
man who has riches without understanding,
Is
like the animals that perish.
PSALMS:
79
1 God,
the nations have come into your inheritance.
They
have defiled your holy temple.
They
have laid Yerushalayim in heaps.
On
the kingdoms that don't call on your names;
Let
your tender mercies speedily meet us,
For
we are in desperate need.
Deliver
us, and forgive our sins, for your name's sake.
"Where
is their God?"
Let
it be known among the nations, before our eyes,
That
vengeance for your servants' blood is being poured out.
According
to the greatness of your power, preserve those who are sentenced to
death;
Their
reproach with which they have reproached you, Lord.
Will
give you thanks forever.
We
will praise you forever, to all generations.
PSALMS:
109
1 God
of my praise, don't remain silent,
Neither
let there be any to have pity on his fatherless children.
Don't
let the sin of his mother be blotted out.
But
persecuted the poor and needy man,
The
broken in heart, to kill them.
He
didn't delight in blessing, and it was far from him.
It
came into his inward parts like water,
Like
oil into his bones.
For
the belt that is always around him.
21 But
deal with me, the LORD the Lord, for your name's sake,
Because
your loving kindness is good, deliver me;
22 For
I am poor and needy.
My
heart is wounded within me.
23 I
fade away like an evening shadow.
I
am shaken off as the arbeh.
24 My
knees are weak through fasting.
My
body is thin and lacks fat.
25 I
have also become a reproach to them.
When
they see me, they shake their head.
26
Help
me, LORD, my God.
Save
me according to your loving kindness;
27
That they may know that this is your hand;
That
you, LORD, have done it.
28 They
may curse, but you bless.
When
they arise, they will be put to shame,
But
your servant shall rejoice.
29 Let
my adversaries be clothed with dishonor.
Let
them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.
30 I
will give great thanks to the LORD with my mouth.
Yes,
I will praise him among the multitude.
31
For
he will stand at the right hand of the needy,
To
save him from those who judge his soul.
PSALMS:
139
1 LORD,
you have searched me,
And
you know me.
But
the night shines as the day.
The
darkness is like light to you.
For
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Your
works are wonderful.
My
soul knows that very well.
When
I was made in secret,
Woven
together in the depths of the eretz.
In
your book they were all written,
The
days that were ordained for me,
When
as yet there were none of them.
When
I wake up, I am still with you.
PROVERBS:
19
1 Better
is the poor who walks in his integrity
Than
he who is perverse in his lips and is a fool.
Nor
being hasty with one's feet and missing the way.
How
much more do his friends avoid him!
He
pursues them with pleas, but they are gone.
Much
less for a servant to have rule over princes.
He
rests and will not be touched by trouble.
Rebuke
one who has understanding, and he will gain knowledge.
Is
a son who causes shame and brings reproach.
OLD
TESTAMENT:
EZEKIEL 18:1 - 19:14
18:1 The
word of the LORD came to me again, saying,2 What
do you mean, that you use this proverb concerning Eretz-Yisra'el,
saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth
are set on edge? 3 As
I live, says the Lord GOD, you shall not have [occasion] any more to
use this proverb in Yisra'el. 4 Behold,
all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of
the son is mine: the soul who sins, he shall die. 5 But
if a man is just, and does that which is lawful and right, 6 and
has not eaten on the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to
the idols of the house of Yisra'el, neither has defiled his
neighbor's wife, neither has come near to a woman in her
impurity, 7 and
has not wronged any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has
taken nothing by robbery, has given his bread to the hungry, and has
covered the naked with a garment; 8 he
who has not given forth on interest, neither has taken any increase,
who has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true justice
between man and man, 9 has
walked in my statutes, and has kept my ordinances, to deal truly; he
is just, he shall surely live, says the Lord GOD. 10 If
he fathers a son who is a robber, a shedder of blood, and who does
any one of these things, 11 and
who does not any of those [duties], but even has eaten on the
mountains, and defiled his neighbor's wife, 12 has
wronged the poor and needy, has taken by robbery, has not restored
the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed
abomination, 13 has
given forth on interest, and has taken increase; shall he then live?
he shall not live: he has done all these abominations; he shall
surely die; his blood shall be on him. 14 Now,
behold, if he fathers a son, who sees all his father's sins, which
he has done, and fears, and does not such like; 15 who
has not eaten on the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to
the idols of the house of Yisra'el, has not defiled his neighbor's
wife, 16 neither
has wronged any, has not taken anything to pledge, neither has taken
by robbery, but has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered
the naked with a garment; 17 who
has withdrawn his hand from the poor, who has not received interest
nor increase, has executed my ordinances, has walked in my statutes;
he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely
live. 18 As
for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother,
and did that which is not good among his people, behold, he shall
die in his iniquity. 19 Yet
say you, Why does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? when
the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my
statutes, and has done them, he shall surely live. 20
The
soul who sins, he shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of
the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son;
the righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the
wickedness of the wicked shall be on him. 21 But
if the wicked turn from all his sins that he has committed, and keep
all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall
surely live, he shall not die. 22 None
of his transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered
against him: in his righteousness that he has done he shall
live. 23 Have
I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? says the Lord GOD; and
not rather that he should return from his way, and live? 24 But
when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits
iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked
man does, shall he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has
done shall be remembered: in his trespass that he has trespassed,
and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die. 25 Yet
you say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, house of
Yisra'el: Is my way not equal? Aren't your ways unequal? 26 When
the righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits
iniquity, and dies therein; in his iniquity that he has done shall
he die. 27 Again,
when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has
committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall save
his soul alive. 28 Because
he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has
committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 29 Yet
says the house of Yisra'el, The way of the Lord is not equal. house
of Yisra'el, are not my ways equal? are not your ways
unequal? 30 Therefore
I will judge you, house of Yisra'el, everyone according to his ways,
says the Lord GOD. Return you, and turn yourselves from all your
transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. 31 Cast
away from you all your transgressions, in which you have
transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why
will you die, house of Yisra'el? 32 For
I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies, says the Lord GOD:
therefore turn yourselves, and live.
19:1 Moreover,
take up a lamentation for the princes of Yisra'el, 2 and
say, What was your mother? A lioness: she couched among lions, in
the midst of the young lions she nourished her whelps. 3 She
brought up one of her whelps: he became a young lion, and he learned
to catch the prey; he devoured men. 4 The
nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit; and they
brought him with hooks to the land of Mitzrayim. 5 Now
when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she
took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion. 6 He
went up and down among the lions; he became a young lion, and he
learned to catch the prey; he devoured men. 7 He
knew their palaces, and laid waste their cities; and the land was
desolate, and the fullness of it, because of the noise of his
roaring. 8 Then
the nations set against him on every side from the provinces; and
they spread their net over him; he was taken in their pit. 9 They
put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Bavel;
they brought him into strongholds, that his voice should no more be
heard on the mountains of Yisra'el. 10 Your
mother was like a vine, in your blood, planted by the waters: it was
fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters. 11 It
had strong rods for the scepters of those who bore rule, and their
stature was exalted among the thick boughs, and they were seen in
their height with the multitude of their branches. 12 But
it was plucked up in fury, it was cast down to the ground, and the
east wind dried up its fruit: its strong rods were broken off and
withered; the fire consumed them.13 Now
it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land. 14 Fire
is gone out of the rods of its branches, it has devoured its fruit,
so that there is in it no strong rod to be a scepter to rule. This
is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.
NEW
TESTAMENT:
HEBREWS 9:1 - 10
9:1 Now
indeed even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service, and
an earthly sanctuary.
2 For
there was a tent prepared, the first, in which were the menorah, the
table, and the show bread; which is called the Holy Place.
3 After
the second veil, the tent which is called the Holy of Holies,
4 having
a golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant overlaid on
all sides with gold, in which was a golden pot holding the manna,
Aharon's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
5 and
above it Keruvim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat, of which
things we can't now speak in detail.
6 Now
these things having been thus prepared, the Kohanim go in
continually into the first tent, accomplishing the services,
7 but
into the second the Kohen Gadol alone, once in the year, not without
blood, which he offers for himself, and for the errors of the
people.
8
The
Ruach HaKodesh is signifying this, that the way into the Holy Place
has not yet been revealed, while the first tent is yet standing;
9 which
is an illustration of the present age, where gifts and sacrifices
are offered that are incapable, concerning the conscience, of making
the worshipper perfect;
10 being
only (with meats and drinks and various washings) fleshly ordinances,
imposed until a time of reformation.
John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
