THEINC-HIM Daily Bible Meditation - August 22 - Full Text - Happy Birthday David Marshall!

Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

AUGUST 22

PSALMS: 22, 52, 82, 112, 142

PROVERBS: 22

OLD TESTAMENT: EZEKIEL 23:1 - 49

NEW TESTAMENT: HEBREWS 10:18 - 39

PSALMS: 22

1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from helping me,
and from the words of my groaning?
2 My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don't answer;
In the night season, and am not silent.
3 But you are holy,
You who inhabit the praises of Yisra'el.
4 Our fathers trusted in you.
They trusted, and you delivered them.
5 They cried to you, and were delivered.
They trusted in you, and were not put to shame.
6 But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
7 All those who see me mock me.
They insult me with their lips.
They shake their heads, saying,
8 "He trusts in the LORD; Let him deliver him;
Let him rescue him, since he delights in him."
9 But you brought me out of the womb.
You made me trust at my mother's breasts.
10 I was thrown on you from my mother's womb.
You are my God since my mother bore me.
11 Don't be far from me, for trouble is near.
For there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have surrounded me.
Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.
13 They open their mouths wide against me,
Lions tearing prey and roaring.
14 I am poured out like water.
All my bones are out of joint.
My heart is like wax;
It is melted within me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd.
My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth.
You have brought me into the dust of death.
16 For dogs have surrounded me.
A company of evil-doers have enclosed me.
They pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I can count all of my bones.
They look and stare at me.
18 They divide my garments among them.
They cast lots for my clothing.
19 But don't be far off, LORD.
You are my help: hurry to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword,
My precious life from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the lion's mouth;
Yes, from the horns of the wild oxen you have answered me.
22 I will declare your name to my brothers.
In the midst of the assembly, will I praise you.
23 You who fear the LORD, praise him!
All you descendants of Ya`akov, glorify him!
Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Yisra'el!
24 For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted,
Neither has he hid his face from him;
But when he cried to him, he heard.
25 Of you comes my praise in the great assembly.
I will pay my vows before those who fear him.
26 The humble shall eat and be satisfied.
They shall praise the LORD who seek after him.
Let your hearts live forever.
27 All the ends of the eretz shall remember and turn to the LORD.
All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you.
28 For the kingdom is the LORD's.
He is the ruler over the nations.
29 All the rich ones of the eretz shall eat and worship.
All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him,
Even he who can't keep his soul alive.
30 Posterity shall serve him.
Future generations shall be told about the Lord.
31 They shall come and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, For he has done it.

PSALMS: 52

1 Why do you boast of mischief, mighty man?
God's loving kindness endures continually.
2 Your tongue plots destruction,
Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
3 You love evil more than good,
Lying rather than speaking the truth.
Selah.
4 You love all devouring words,
You deceitful tongue.
5 God will likewise destroy you forever.
He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent,
And root you out of the land of the living.
Selah.
6 The righteous also will see it, and fear,
And laugh at him, saying,
7 "Behold, this is the man who didn't make God his strength,
But trusted in the abundance of his riches,
And strengthened himself in his wickedness."
8 But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God's house.
I trust in God's loving kindness forever and ever.
9 I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it.
I will hope in your name, for it is good,
In the presence of your holy ones.

PSALMS: 82

1 God presides in the great assembly.
He judges among the gods.
2 "How long will you judge unjustly,
And show partiality to the wicked?"
Selah.
3 "Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless.
Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and needy.
Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked."
5 They don't know, neither do they understand.
They walk back and forth in darkness.
All the foundations of the eretz are shaken.
6 I said, "You are gods,
All of you are sons of Ha`Elyon.
7 Nevertheless you shall die like men,
And fall like one of the rulers."
8 Arise, God, judge the eretz,
For you inherit all of the nations.

PSALMS: 112

1 Praise the LORD!
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
Who delights greatly in his mitzvot.
2 His seed will be mighty on eretz.
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in his house.
His righteousness endures forever.
4 Light dawns in the darkness for the upright,
Gracious, merciful, and righteous.
5 It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends.
He will maintain his cause in judgment.
6 For he will never be shaken.
The righteous will be remembered forever.
7 He will not be afraid of evil news.
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
8 His heart is established.
He will not be afraid in the end when he sees his adversaries.
9 He has dispersed, he has given to the poor.
His righteousness endures forever.
His horn will be exalted with honor.
10 The wicked will see it, and be grieved.
He shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away.
The desire of the wicked will perish.

PSALMS: 142

1 I cry with my voice to the LORD.
With my voice, I ask the LORD for mercy.
2 I pour out my complaint before him.
I tell him my troubles.
3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
You knew my path.
In the way in which I walk,
They have hidden a snare for me.
4 Look on my right, and see;
For there is no one who is concerned for me.
Refuge has fled from me.
No one cares for my soul.
5 I cried to you, the LORD.
I said, "You are my refuge,
My portion in the land of the living."
6 Listen to my cry,
For I am in desperate need.
Deliver me from my persecutors,
For they are stronger than me.
7 Bring my soul out of prison,
That I may give thanks to your name.
The righteous will surround me,
For you will be good to me.

PROVERBS: 22

1 A good name is more desirable than great riches;
Loving favor rather than silver and gold.
2 The rich and the poor have this in common:
The LORD is the maker of them all.
3 A prudent man sees danger, and hides himself;
But the simple pass on, and suffer for it.
4 The result of humility and the fear of the LORD
Is wealth, honor, and life.
5 Thorns and snares are in the path of the wicked:
Whoever guards his soul stays from them.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.
7 The rich rules over the poor.
The borrower is servant to the lender.
8 He who sows wickedness reaps trouble,
And the rod of his fury will be destroyed.
9 He who has a generous eye will be blessed;
For he shares his food with the poor.
10 Drive out the mocker, and strife will go out;
Yes, quarrels and insults will stop.
11 He who loves purity of heart and speaks gracefully Is the king's friend.
12 The eyes of the LORD watch over knowledge;
But he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.
13 The sluggard says,
"There is a lion outside!
I will be killed in the streets!"
14 The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit:
He who is under the LORD's wrath will fall into it.
15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child:
The rod of discipline drives it far from him.
16 Whoever oppresses the poor for his own increase and whoever gives to the rich,
Both come to poverty.
17 Turn your ear, and listen to the words of the wise.
Apply your heart to my teaching.
18 For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you,
If all of them are ready on your lips.
19 That your trust may be in the LORD,
I teach you today, even you.
20 Haven't I written to you thirty excellent things
Of counsel and knowledge,
21 To teach you truth, reliable words,
To give sound answers to the ones who sent you?
22 Don't exploit the poor, because he is poor;
And don't crush the needy in court;
23 For the LORD will plead their case,
And plunder the life of those who plunder them.
24 Don't befriend a hot-tempered man,
And don't associate with one who harbors anger:
25 Lest you learn his ways,
And ensnare your soul.
26 Don't you be one of those who strike hands,
Of those who are collateral for debts.
27 If you don't have means to pay,
Why should he take away your bed from under you?
28 Don't move the ancient boundary stone,
Which your fathers have set up.
29 Do you see a man skilled in his work?
He will serve kings;
He won't serve obscure men.

OLD TESTAMENT: EZEKIEL 23:1 - 49

23:1 The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,
2 Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:
3 and they played the prostitute in Mitzrayim; they played the prostitute in their youth; there were their breasts pressed, and there was handled the bosom of their virginity.
4 The names of them were Oholah the elder, and Oholivah her sister: and they became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. As for their names, Shomron is Oholah, and Yerushalayim Oholivah
5 Oholah played the prostitute when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Ashshur [her] neighbors,
6 who were clothed with blue, governors and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding on horses.
7  She bestowed her prostitution on them, the choicest men of Ashshur all of them; and on whoever she doted, with all their idols she defiled herself.
8 Neither has she left her prostitution since [the days of] Mitzrayim; for in her youth they lay with her, and they handled the bosom of her virginity; and they poured out their prostitution on her.
9 Therefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Ashshur, on whom she doted.
10 These uncovered her nakedness; they took her sons and her daughters; and her they killed with the sword: and she became a byword among women; for they executed judgments on her.
11 Her sister Oholivah saw this, yet was she more corrupt in her doting than she, and in her prostitution which were more than the prostitution of her sister.
12 She doted on the Ashshur, governors and rulers, [her] neighbors, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding on horses, all of them desirable young men.
13 I saw that she was defiled; they both took one way.
14 She increased her prostitution; for she saw men portrayed on the wall, the images of the Kasdim portrayed with vermilion
15 girded with girdles on their loins, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them princes to look on, after the likeness of the Bavlites in Kasdim, the land of their birth.
16 As soon as she saw them she doted on them, and sent messengers to them into Kasdim.
17  The Bavlites came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their prostitution, and she was polluted with them, and her soul was alienated from them.
18 So she uncovered her prostitution, and uncovered her nakedness: then my soul was alienated from her, like as my soul was alienated from her sister.
19 Yet she multiplied her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth, in which she had played the prostitute in the land of Mitzrayim
20 She doted on their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of donkeys, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.
21 Thus you called to memory the lewdness of your youth, in the handling of your bosom by the Mitzrim for the breasts of your youth
22 Therefore, Oholivah, thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will raise up your lovers against you, from whom your soul is alienated, and I will bring them against you on every side:
23 the Bavlites and all the Kasdim, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, [and] all the Ashshur with them; desirable young men, governors and rulers all of them, princes and men of renown, all of them riding on horses.
24 They shall come against you with weapons, chariots, and wagons, and with a company of peoples; they shall set themselves against you with buckler and shield and helmet round about; and I will commit the judgment to them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments.
25 I will set my jealousy against you, and they shall deal with you in fury; they shall take away your nose and your ears; and your residue shall fall by the sword: they shall take your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by the fire.
26 They shall also strip you of your clothes, and take away your beautiful jewels.
27 Thus will I make your lewdness to cease from you, and your prostitution [brought] from the land of Mitzrayim; so that you shall not lift up your eyes to them, nor remember Mitzrayim any more.
28 For thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of them whom you hate, into the hand of them from whom your soul is alienated;
29 and they shall deal with you in hatred, and shall take away all your labor, and shall leave you naked and bare; and the nakedness of your prostitution shall be uncovered, both your lewdness and your prostitution.
30 These things shall be done to you, because you have played the prostitute after the nations, and because you are polluted with their idols.
31 You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore will I give her cup into your hand.
32 Thus says the Lord GOD: You shall drink of your sister's cup, which is deep and large; you shall be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it contains much.
33 You shall be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of your sister Shomron.
34 You shall even drink it and drain it out, and you shall gnaw the broken pieces of it, and shall tear your breasts; for I have spoken it, says the Lord GOD.
35 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have forgotten me, and cast me behind your back, therefore bear you also your lewdness and your prostitution.
36 The LORD said moreover to me: Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholivah? then declare to them their abominations
37For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands; and with their idols have they committed adultery; and they have also caused their sons, whom they bore to me, to pass through [the fire] to them to be devoured.
38 Moreover this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my Shabbatot
39 For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, behold, thus have they done in the midst of my house.
40 Furthermore you have sent for men who come from far, to whom a messenger was sent, and, behold, they came; for whom you did wash yourself, paint your eyes, and deck yourself with ornaments,
41 and sit on a stately bed, with a table prepared before it, whereupon you did set my incense and my oil.
42 The voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with men of the common sort were brought Sava'im from the wilderness; and they put bracelets on the hands of them [twain], and beautiful crowns on their heads.
43 Then said I of her who was old in adulteries, Now will they play the prostitute with her, and she [with them].
44 They went in to her, as they go in to a prostitute: so went they in to Oholah and to Oholivah, the lewd women.
45 Righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and with the judgment of women who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
46 For thus says the Lord GOD: I will bring up a company against them, and will give them to be tossed back and forth and robbed.
47 The company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall kill their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.
48 Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness.
49 They shall recompense your lewdness on you, and you shall bear the sins of your idols; and you shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

NEW TESTAMENT: HEBREWS 10:18 - 39

10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Yeshua,
20 by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21and having a great Kohen over the house of God;
22 let us draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,
23 let us hold fast the confession of our hope unyieldingly. For he who promised is faithful.
24 Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works,
25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.
26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins,
27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries.
28 A man who has set at nothing Moshe' law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses.
29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will he be judged worthy of, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him who said, "Vengeance belongs to me," says the Lord, "I will repay." Again, "The Lord will judge his people."
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 But remember the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle with sufferings;
33 partly, being exposed to both reproaches and oppressions; and partly, becoming partakers with those who were treated so.
34 For you both had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens.
35 Therefore don't throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.
36 For you need patience, so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.
37 "For yet a very little while, He who comes will come, and will not wait.
38 But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him."
39 But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.

 John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
