1 May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble.
May the name of the God of Ya`akov set you up on high,
2 Send you help from the sanctuary,
Grant you support from Tziyon,
3 Remember all your offerings,
And accept your burnt-sacrifice. Selah.
4 May He grant you your heart's desire,
And fulfill all your counsel.
5 We will triumph in your yeshu`ah.
In the name of our God we will set up our banners:
The LORD fulfill all your petitions.
6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed.
He will answer him from his holy heaven,
With the saving strength of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses,
But we trust the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are bowed down and fallen,
But we rise up, and stand upright.
9 Save, LORD;
Let the King answer us when we call!
PSALMS: 50
1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks,
And calls the eretz from sunrise to sunset.
2 Out of Tziyon, the perfection of beauty,
God shines forth.
3 Our God comes, and does not keep silent.
A fire devours before him.
It is very tempestuous around him.
4 He calls to the heavens above,
To the eretz, that he may judge his people:
5 "Gather my holy ones together to me,
Those who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice."
6 The heavens shall declare his righteousness,
For God himself is judge.
Selah.
7 "Hear, my people, and I will speak;
Yisra'el, and I will testify against you.
I am God, your God.
8 I don't rebuke you for your sacrifices.
Your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9 I have no need for a bull from your stall,
Nor male goats from your pens.
10 For every animal of the forest is mine,
And the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know all the birds of the mountains.
The wild animals of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
For the world is mine, and all that is in it.
13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls,
Or drink the blood of goats?
14 Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving.
Pay your vows to Ha`Elyon.
15 Call on me in the day of trouble.
I will deliver you, and you will honor me."
16 But to the wicked God says,
"What right do you have to declare my statutes,
That you have taken my covenant on your lips,
17 Seeing you hate instruction,
And throw my words behind you?
18 When you saw a thief, you consented with him,
And have participated with adulterers.
19 "You give your mouth to evil.
You harnesses your tongue for deceit.
20 You sit and speak against your brother.
You slander your own mother's son.
21 You have done these things, and I kept silent.
You thought that the "I AM" was just like you.
I will rebuke you, and accuse you in front of your eyes.
22 "Now consider this, you who forget God,
Lest I tear you into pieces, and there be none to deliver.
23 Whoever offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me,
And prepares his way so that I will show God's salvation to him."
PSALMS: 80
1 Hear us, Shepherd of Yisra'el,
You who lead Yosef like a flock,
You who sit above the Keruvim, shine forth.
2 Before Efrayim and Binyamin and Menashsheh,
stir up your might,
Come to save us.
3 Turn us again, God.
Cause your face to shine,
And we will be saved.
4 LORD God Tzva'ot,
How long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?
5 You have fed them with the bread of tears,
And given them tears to drink in large measure.
6 You make us a source of contention to our neighbors.
Our enemies laugh among themselves.
7 Turn us again,
God Tzva'ot.
Cause your face to shine,
And we will be saved.
8 You brought a vine out of Mitzrayim.
You drove out the nations, and planted it.
9 You cleared the ground for it.
It took deep root, and filled the land.
10 The mountains were covered with its shadow.
Its boughs were like God's cedars.
11 It sent out its branches to the sea,
Its shoots to the River.
12 Why have you broken down its walls,
So that all those who pass by the way pluck it?
13 The boar out of the wood ravages it.
The wild animals of the field feed on it.
14 Turn again, we beg you, God Tzva'ot.
Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine,
15 The stock which your right hand planted,
The branch that you made strong for yourself.
16 It is burned with fire. It is cut down.
They perish at your rebuke.
17 Let your hand be on the man of your right hand,
On the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.
18 So we will not turn away from you.
Revive us, and we will call on your name.
19 Turn us again, LORD God Tzva'ot.
Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
PSALMS: 110
1 The LORD says to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand,
Until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet."
2 The LORD will send forth the rod of your strength out of Tziyon.
Rule in the midst of your enemies.
3 Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power,
In holy array.
Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.
4 The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind:
"You are a Kohen forever in the order of Malki-Tzedek."
5 The Lord is at your right hand.
He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.
6 He will judge among the nations.
He will heap up dead bodies.
He will crush the ruler of the whole eretz.
7 He will drink of the brook in the way;
Therefore will he lift up his head.
PSALMS: 140
1 Deliver me, LORD, from the evil man.
Preserve me from the violent man;
2 Those who devise mischief in their hearts.
They continually gather themselves together for war.
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent.
Viper's poison is under their lips.
Selah.
4 LORD, keep me from the hands of the wicked.
Preserve me from the violent men:
Who have determined to trip my feet.
5 The proud have hidden a snare for me,
They have spread the cords of a net by the path.
They have set traps for me.
Selah.
6 I said to the LORD,
"You are my God.
" Listen to the cry of my petitions, LORD.
7 LORD, the Lord, the strength of my yeshu`ah,
You have covered my head in the day of battle.
8 LORD, don't grant the desires of the wicked.
Don't let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. Selah.
9 As for the head of those who surround me,
Let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 Let burning coals fall on them.
Let them be thrown into the fire,
Into miry pits, from where they never rise.
11 An evil speaker won't be established in the eretz.
Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted,
And justice for the needy.
13 Surely the righteous will give thanks to your name.
The upright will dwell in your presence.
PROVERBS: 20
1 Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler;
Whoever is let astray by them is not wise.
2 The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion:
He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
3 It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife;
But every fool will be quarreling.
4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter;
Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water;
But a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love,
But who can find a faithful man?
7 A righteous man who walks in his integrity,
Blessed are his children after him.
8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment
Scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9 Who can say, "I have made my heart pure.
I am clean and without sin?"
10 Differing weights and differing measures,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
11 Even a child makes himself known by his doings,
Whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye,
The LORD has made even both of them.
13 Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty;
Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14 "It's no good, it's no good," says the buyer;
But when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15 There is gold and abundance of rubies;
But the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
16 Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger;
And hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
17 Fraudulent food is sweet to a man,
But afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18 Plans are established by advice;
By wise guidance you wage war!
19 He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets;
Therefore don't keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
20 Whoever curses his father or his mother,
His lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21 An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning,
Won't be blessed in the end.
22 Don't say,
"I will pay back evil."
Wait for the LORD, and he will save you.
23 The LORD detests differing weights,
And dishonest scales are not pleasing.
24 A man's steps are from the LORD;
How then can man understand his way?
25 It is a snare to a man make a rash dedication,
And later reconsider his vows.
26 A wise king winnows out the wicked,
And drives the threshing wheel over them.
27 The spirit of man is the LORD's lamp,
Searching all his innermost parts.
28 Love and faithfulness keep the king safe.
His throne is sustained by love.
29 The glory of young men is their strength.
The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30 Wounding blows cleanse away evil,
And beatings purge the innermost parts.
OLD TESTAMENT: JOSHUA 3:1 - 4:24
3:1 Yehoshua rose up early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to the Yarden, he and all the children of Yisra'el; and they lodged there before they passed over. 2 It happened after three days, that the officers went through the midst of the camp; 3 and they commanded the people, saying, When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the Kohanim the Levites bearing it, then you shall remove from your place, and go after it. 4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: don't come near to it, that you may know the way by which you must go; for you have not passed this way heretofore. 5 Yehoshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves; for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you. 6 Yehoshua spoke to the Kohanim, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. They took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people. 7 The LORD said to Yehoshua, This day will I begin to magnify you in the sight of all Yisra'el, that they may know that, as I was with Moshe, so I will be with you. 8 You shall command the Kohanim who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When you are come to the brink of the waters of the Yarden, you shall stand still in the Yarden. 9 Yehoshua said to the children of Yisra'el, Come here, and hear the words of the LORD your God. 10 Yehoshua said, Hereby you shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Kana`ani, and the Hittite, and the Hivvi, and the Perizzi, and the Girgashi, and the Amori, and the Yevusi. 11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the eretz passes over before you into the Yarden. 12 Now therefore take twelve men out of the tribes of Yisra'el, for every tribe a man. 13 It shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the Kohanim who bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the eretz, shall rest in the waters of the Yarden, that the waters of the Yarden shall be cut off, even the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand in one heap. 14 It happened, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Yarden, the Kohanim who bore the ark of the covenant being before the people; 15 and when those who bore the ark were come to the Yarden, and the feet of the Kohanim who bore the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (for the Yarden overflows all its banks all the time of harvest,) 16 that the waters which came down from above stood, and rose up in one heap, a great way off, at Adam, the city that is beside Tzaretan; and those that went down toward the sea of the `Aravah, even the Salt Sea, were wholly cut off: and the people passed over right against Yericho. 17 The Kohanim who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Yarden; and all Yisra'el passed over on dry ground, until all the nation were passed clean over the Yarden.
4:1 It happened, when all the nation were clean passed over the Yarden, that the LORD spoke to Yehoshua, saying, 2 Take twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man, 3 and command you them, saying, Take hence out of the midst of the Yarden, out of the place where the Kohanim' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place, where you shall lodge this night. 4 Then Yehoshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Yisra'el, out of every tribe a man: 5 and Yehoshua said to them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Yarden, and take up every man of you a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Yisra'el; 6 that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask in time to come, saying, What do you mean by these stones? 7 then you shall tell them, Because the waters of the Yarden were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over the Yarden, the waters of the Yarden were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Yisra'el forever. 8 The children of Yisra'el did so as Yehoshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Yarden, as the LORD spoke to Yehoshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Yisra'el; and they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged, and laid them down there. 9 Yehoshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Yarden, in the place where the feet of the Kohanim who bore the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there to this day. 10 For the Kohanim who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Yarden, until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Yehoshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moshe commanded Yehoshua: and the people hurried and passed over. 11 It happened, when all the people had completely passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed over, with the Kohanim, in the presence of the people. 12 The children of Re'uven, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Menashsheh, passed over armed before the children of Yisra'el, as Moshe spoke to them: 13 about forty thousand ready armed for war passed over before the LORD to battle, to the plains of Yericho. 14 On that day the LORD magnified Yehoshua in the sight of all Yisra'el; and they feared him, as they feared Moshe, all the days of his life. 15 The LORD spoke to Yehoshua, saying, 16 Command the Kohanim who bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Yarden. 17 Yehoshua therefore commanded the Kohanim, saying, Come up out of the Yarden. 18 It happened, when the Kohanim who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of the Yarden, and the soles of the Kohanim' feet were lifted up to the dry ground, that the waters of the Yarden returned to their place, and went over all its banks, as before. 19 The people came up out of the Yarden on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the east border of Yericho. 20 Those twelve stones, which they took out of the Yarden, did Yehoshua set up in Gilgal. 21 He spoke to the children of Yisra'el, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones? 22 Then you shall let your children know, saying, Yisra'el came over this Yarden on dry land. 23 For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Yarden from before you, until you were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Sea of Suf, which he dried up from before us, until we were passed over; 24 that all the peoples of the eretz may know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty; that you may fear the LORD your God forever.
NEW TESTAMENT: LUKE 14:7 - 35
14:7 He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them,
8 "When you are invited by anyone to a marriage feast, don't sit in the best seat, since perhaps a more honorable man than you might be invited by him,
9 and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, 'Make room for this man.' Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.
10 But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, 'Friend, move up higher.' Then you will have glory in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.
11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."
12 He also said to the one who had invited him, "When you make a dinner or a supper, don't call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.
13 But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind;
14 and you will be blessed, because they don't have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous."
15 When one of those who sat at the table with him heard these things, he said to him, "Blessed is he who will feast in the kingdom of God!"
16 But he said to him, "A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.
17 He sent out his servant at supper time to tell those who were invited, 'Come, for everything is ready now.'
18 They all as one began to make excuses. "The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please have me excused.'
19 "Another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.'
20 "Another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I can't come.'
21 "That servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.'
22 "The servant said, 'Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.'
23 "The lord said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will taste of my supper.'"
25 Now great multitudes went with him. He turned and said to them,
26 "If anyone comes to me, and doesn't hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can't be my talmid.
27 Whoever doesn't bear his own cross, and come after me, can't be my talmid.
28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn't first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?
29 Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,
30 saying, 'This man began to build, and wasn't able to finish.'
31 Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy, and asks for conditions of shalom.
33 So therefore whoever of you who doesn't renounce all that he has, he can't be my talmid.
34 Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?
35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

2 ישלח לך עזרה מִמִּקְדָּשָׁה,
יתן לך משענת מציון.
3 זכור את כל קרבנותיך,
וְעוֹלֶתְךָ יִקָּבֵל. סלה.
4 יְתַן לָךְ מַחֲוָת לִבְךָ,
וְיַעֲצֶת כָּל עֲצֶתְךָ.
5 נִרְצְאֵן בִּישׁוּעַךָ.
בשם אֱלֹהֵינוּ נִקִּים דַּגְלֵינוּ.
יְהוּא יַעֲשׂוֹת כָּל חֲקָלוֹתֶיךָ. ו עתה ידעתי כי ה' יושיע משיחו.
יענהו משמי קדשו,

1 הגיבור, ה', ידבר,
וקרא לארץ מזריחה עד שקיעה.
2 מציון, שלימות יופי,
יארח אלוהים.
3 יבוא אלוהינו ולא יחריש.
אש אוכלת לפניו,
סערה מאוד סביבו.
4 הוא קורא לשמיים ממעל,
אל הארץ, לשפוט את עמו: 5 "אספו לי את קדשי,
את אשר כרתו לי ברית בזבח."
6 השמים יגידו צדקתו,
כי אלוהים הוא שופט.

8 לא אוכיף לך על זבחיך.

שלם נדריך לאליון.
15 קרא לי ביום צרה.

"מה זכותך לספר את חוקי,
כי לקחת את בריתי על שפתיך,
17 כששנאת מוסר,
ותשליך את דבריי אחריך?
18 כי ראית גנב, הסכמת לו,
ועם-נאפים השתתפת.
19 "נתת את פיך לרעה.
רתמת את לשונך למרמה.
20 את אחיך יושבת ודברת.
את בן אמך תעלל.
21 את הדברים האלה עשית, ואני שתקתי.
חשבת כי "אני" הוא בדיוק כמוך.
אני אגער בך, ואאשים אותך מול עיניך. 22 "ועתה חשבו זאת, שוכחי אלוהים, פן אקרע אתכם ואין מציל.
23 מקריב זבח תודה יהללני,
ויכין דרכו למען אראה לו ישועת אלוהים."

1 שמענו רועה ישראל,
מוביל את יוסף כצאן,
יושב כרובים, האיר.
2 לפני אפרים ובנימין ומנשה,
ער כוחך,
בוא להושיענו.
3 השבנו, אלוהים.
האיר פניך,
וניצלנו.
4 יהוה אלוהים צבאות,
עד מתי תאנף בתפילת עמך?
5 האכלתם לחם דמעה,
והשקיתם דמעה בשפע.
6 אתה עושה אותנו למקור מחלוקת לשכנינו. אויבינו יצחק ביניהם.
7 השב אותנו,
אלוהים צוואות. האיר פניך,
וניצלנו.
8 הבאת גפן ממצרים. גרשת גויים ונטעתה.
9 פינית לה אדמה. השתרשה עמוק ותמלא ארץ.
10 הרים יכסו צילו. ענפיה היו כארזים של אלוהים.
11 הוציאה ענפיה אל הים,
נצריה אל הנהר.
12 למה שברת חומותיה,
וכל עוברי הדרך יקטפו אותה?
13 חזיר מן היער יטרפו אותה. חיות השדה רעו אותה.
יד שוב אנו מתחננים אליך, אלוהי צבאות. הבט מן השמים וראה ופקד את הגפן הזאת,
15 את הגזע אשר נטעה ימינך,
את הענף אשר חזקת לך.
16 נשרף באש, נכרת. בגעפתך יאבדו.
17 תהיה ידך על איש ימינך,
על בן האדם אשר חזקת לך.
18 ולא נסור ממך. החיינו, ובשמך נקרא.
19 השבינו, יהוה אלוהי צבאות. האר פניך, ונישענו.

11 לא יקום דובר רע בארץ.
רשע יצוד איש אלים להפילו.
12 ידעתי כי יהוה יִשְׁמֹר עֲנִיִים,
וְדָן לְעֲבוֹד.
13 אֲבָר צַדִּיק יוֹדוּ שְׁמֶךָ.
ישרים ישכנו לפניך.

1 יין לֶצֶה וְשִׁיָּר מְרַב;
מי שֶׁתּוֹעֵה בָּהֶם לֹא יְחָכָם.
2 אימת מלך כשאגת אריה:
המעורר בו כעס יאבד את נפשו.
3 כבוד הוא לאדם להתרחק מריב;
וכל כסיל יריבה.
4 לא יחרוש עצלן בגלל החורף;
לכן יתחנן בקציר, ולא יהיה לו.
5 עצה בלב אדם כמים עמוקים;
ואיש בינה ישאב אותה.
6 אנשים רבים טוענים שהם אנשי אהבה בלתי פוסקים,
אבל מי ימצא איש נאמן?
7 צדיק ההולך בתמימותו,
אשרי בניו אחריו.
8 מלך היושב על כסא המשפט
מפזר כל רע בעיניו.
9 מי יאמר, "טהרתי את ליבי,
טהור אני וללא חטא?"
10 משקלים שונים ומדות שונות,
שתיהם כאחד תועבת ה'.
11 גם ילד יגלה במעשיו,
האם טהור מעשיו והאם ישר הוא.
12 אוזן שומעת ועין רואה,
ה' עשה את שניהם.
13 אל תאהב שינה פן תבוא לרעות;
פקח עיניך ושבעת לחם.
14 "לא טוב, לא טוב", אמר הקונה;
וכי הלך לדרכו, יתפאר.
15 זהב ושפע אבני אודם;
ושפתי דעת הן תכשיט נדיר.
16 קח את בגד הנותן ערבון לזר;
וערבן אותו לאישה תועה.
17 מאכל רמאות מתוק לאדם,
ואחר כך ימלא פיו חצץ. 18 בעצה יכינו תוכניות; בְּחָכְמָה תַּעֲשׂוֹת מִלְחָמָה!
19 הוֹלֵךְ כְּמוֹדֵף גָּלָה סוֹדוֹת; אַל תִּתְחַבֵּל עִם מַפְתָּא פִּיּוּ.
20 מַקְלֵל אֲבִיו אוֹ אֲמוֹ,
נֵרוֹ יִכָּבֶה בְּחֵשׁ חֲשִׁילָה.
21 נְחָשָׁה מַהֵר בְּרֵאשִׁית,
לֹא תִּתְבָּרֵךְ בַּסְפֶּרֶת.
22 אַל תֹּאמַר,
"אֲשֶׁר אֲשֶׁר רָעָה".
חֲוָה לַיהוָה וְיוֹשִׁיעֶךָ.
23 שְׁנֵא יְהוָה מַשְׁקָלִים,
וְלֹא חָפְצוּ מִשְׁקָלִים.
24 מֵאֵת יְהוָה צַעֲדֵי אִישׁ; אִיךְ יָבִין אָדָם דְּרָכוֹ?
25 מְקַשָּׁל הוּא לָאֱשֶׁר יִתְחַדֵּשׁ פזיז,
וְאַחֲרֵי יַשְׁבֵּר אֶת נְדָרָיו.
26 מלך חכם מנפה רשעים,
ונוהג בגלגל גורן עליהם.
27 רוח האדם היא נֶר יְהוָה,
חוקרת את כל קרביו.
28 אהבה ונאמנות ישמרו על המלך.
באהבה יתמוך כסאו.
29 תפארת נערים היא כוחם.
תפארת זקנים היא שערותיהם האפורות.
30 מכות פצעות מטהר רע,
ומכות מטהר קרבי.
הברית הישנה: יהושע ג':1 - ד':24
ג':1 וַיַּשְׁכִימֶה יְהוֹשְׁעַ בַּבֹּקֶר וַיַּסְעוּ מִשִּׁתִּים וַיָּבֹאוּ הַיַּרְדֶן הוּא וְכָל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֵּלְנוּ שָׁם טְרֶךְ עֲבָרָיו. ב' וַיְהִי מִקֶּץ שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים וַיַּעֲבֹרוּ הַשְׁפָּטִים בְּתוֹךְ הַמַּחֲנָה. ג' וַיְצַווּ אֶת-הָעָם לֵאמֹר כִּי-תֵּרְאוּ אֶת-אֲרוֹן בְּרִית יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם וְהַכֹּהֲנִים הַלְּוִיִים נֹשְׂאִים אֹתוֹ וְסָעוּ מִמָּקֹמְכֶם וַלְּכוּ אַחֲרָיו. ד' וְהָיָה רְחִיץ בֵּינֵיכֶם וּבִינֵיהֶם כַּאֲלִים אֲמָה בְּמִדָּה אַל-תִּגְרַבוּ אֵלָיו לְמַעַן תְּדַעוּ אֶת-הַדֶּרֶךְ אֲשֶׁר לֹא-עָבְרוּ בָּהּ כִּי-לֹא-עָבְרְכֶם בַּדֶּרֶךְ הַזֶּה שֶׁלָּכֶם עַד-הַשָּׁם. ה' וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-הָעָם קִדְשְׁקוּ כִּי-מָחָר יַעֲשֶׂה יְהוָה בְּתוֹכֶם נִפְתָּות.ו וידבר יהושע אל הכוהנים לאמר: "שאו את ארון הברית ועברו לפני העם." ויישאו את ארון הברית וילכו לפני העם. ז ויאמר ה' אל יהושע: "היום הזה אחלה להגדילך לעיני כל ישראל, וידעו כי כאשר הייתי עם משה, כן אהיה עמך." ח ואתה צוה את הכוהנים נושאי ארון הברית לאמר: "כי תבואו עד קצה מי הירדן, ועמדו בירדן." ט ויאמר יהושע אל בני ישראל: "בואו הנה ושמעו את דברי ה' אלהיכם." י ויאמר יהושע, בזאת תדעו כי אלהים חי בקרבכם, וכי יגרש יגרש מפניכם את הכנעני ואת החתי ואת החוי ואת הפרזי ואת הגרגשי ואת האמורי ואת היבוסי. יא הנה ארון הברית לאדון כל הארץ עובר לפניכם הירדן. יב ועתה קחו שנים עשר אנשים משבטי ישראל, איש אחד לשבט אחד. יג והיה כאשר ינוחו כפות רגלי הכהנים נושאי ארון ה' לאדון כל הארץ במי הירדן, ונכרתו מי הירדן המים היורדים מלמעלה, ועמדו ערימה אחת. יד ויהי כאשר סעו העם מאוהליו לעבור את הירדן והכהנים נושאי ארון הברית לפני העם. טו וכאשר באו נושאי הארון אל הירדן וטבל רגלי הכהנים נושאי הארון על שפת המים כי הירדן עולה על כל גדותיו כל עת הקציר. טז ועמדו המים היורדים מלמעלה ועלו ערימה אחת רחוקה עד אדם העיר אשר על יד צרתן והירדים ים הערבה ים המלח נכרתו כליל ויעבור העם מול יריחו. יז הכהנים נושאי ארון ברית ה' עמדו חזק בתוך הירדן וכל ישראל עברים ביבשה עד אשר עבר כל העם את הירדן טהור.
ד:א ויהי כאשר עבר כל העם את הירדן וידבר ה' אל יהושע לאמר ב קחו שנים עשר אנשים מן העם איש אחד משבט אחד ג וצוותם אותם לאמר קחו מזה מתוך הירדן, ממקום אשר עמדו רגלי הכוהנים, שנים עשר אבנים, ועברתם עמכם והניחו אותם במקום הלינה אשר תלינו שם הלילה׃ ד ויקרא יהושע לשנים עשר האנשים אשר הכין מבני ישראל איש אחד משבט אחד הלילה׃ ה ויאמר להם יהושע עברו לפני ארון ה' אלהיכם אל תוך הירדן, ואיש אחד מכם הרימו אבן על כתפו כמספר שבטי בני ישראל ו למען תהיה זה לאות ביניכם כי ישאלו בניכם אחר כך לאמר מה לכם האבנים האלה׃ ז ואמרת להם כי נקטעו מי הירדן מפני ארון ברית ה' בעברו את הירדן נקטעו מי הירדן והאבנים האלה יהיו לזכרון לבני ישראל עד עולם. ח ויעשו בני ישראל כאשר צוה יהושע וישאו שתים עשרה אבנים מתוך הירדן כאשר דבר ה' אל יהושע כמספר שבטי בני ישראל ויעברו אתם אל המקום אשר לינו שם ויניחו אותם שם. ט ויקם יהושע שתים עשרה אבנים בתוך הירדן במקום אשר עמדו רגלי הכוהנים אשר נשאו את ארון הברית והן שם עד היום הזה. י כי הכוהנים נושאי הארון עמדו בתוך הירדן עד אשר גמר כל אשר צוה ה' את יהושע לדבר אל העם ככל אשר צוה משה את יהושע וימהרו העם ועברו. יא ויהי כאשר כלו כל העם את העבר ועבר ארון ה' והכוהנים לעיני העם. יב בני ראובן ובני גד וחצי שבט מנשה עברו חלוצים לפני בני ישראל כאשר דבר משה אלהם. יג כארבעים אלף חלוצי מלחמה עברו לפני ה' למלחמה אל ערבות יריחו. יד ביום ההוא גָדַל ה' את יהושע לעיני כל ישראל ויראו אותו כאשר יראו את משה כל ימי חייו. טו וידבר ה' אל יהושע לאמר: טז צו את הכהנים נושאי ארון העדות ויעלו מן הירדן. יז ויצו יהושע את הכהנים לאמר עלו מן הירדן. יח ויהי כאשר עלו הכהנים נושאי ארון ברית ה' מתוך הירדן ונשאו כפות רגלי הכהנים אל היבשה וישבו מי הירדן למקומם ועברו על כל גדותיו כראשונה. יט ויעל העם מן הירדן בעשירי לחדש הראשון ויחנו בגלגל מזרח גבול יריחו. 20 את שתים עשרה האבנים אשר לקחו מן הירדן, הציב יהושע בגלגל. כא וידבר אל בני ישראל לאמר כי ישאלו בניכם את אבותם אחרית לאמר מה האבנים האלה? 22 והודעתם את בניכם לאמר עבר ישראל את הירדן הזה ביבשה. 23 כי ייבש יהוה אלהיך את מי הירדן מפניכם עד עברתכם כאשר עשה יהוה אלהיך לים סוף אשר ייבש מפנינו עד עברתנו. 24 למען ידעו כל עמי הארץ את יד יהוה כי חזקה היא למען תיראו את יהוה אלהיכם כל הימים.
הברית החדשה: לוקס יד:7-35
יד:7 הוא סיפר משל למוזמנים, כשראה כיצד הם בוחרים את המקומות הטובים ביותר, ואמר להם:
8 "כאשר מישהו מזמין אותך למשתה חתונה, אל תשב במושב הטוב ביותר, כי אולי יוזמן על ידו אדם מכובד יותר ממך.
9 והזמין את שניכם יבוא ויאמר לך: 'פנה מקום לאיש הזה'. אז תתחיל, בבושה, לתפוס את המקום התחתון ביותר.
10 אבל כשאתה מוזמן, לך ושב במקום התחתון ביותר, כדי שכאשר יבוא הזמין אותך, יאמר לך: 'חבר, זז גבוה יותר'. אז תתפאר בפני כל היושבים איתך לשולחן.
11 כי כל מי שמרבה את עצמו יושפל, וכל מי שמשפיל את עצמו ירומם." 12 ויאמר גם לאיש אשר הזמין אותו: "כאשר אתה עורך סעודה או ארוחת ערב, אל תקרא לחבריך, לא לאחיך, לא לקרוביך ולא לשכניך העשירים, שמא גם הם יחזירו לך טובה.
13 אך כשאתה עורך סעודה, בקש מעניים, מומים, פיסחים או עיוורים;
14 ותבורך, כי אין להם את המשאבים לגמול לך. כי תיגמול לך בתחיית הצדיקים."
15 כאשר שמע אחד מהישבים עמו את הדברים האלה, אמר לו: "אשרי מי שישתה במלכות אלוהים!"
16 ויאמר לו: "איש אחד הכין סעודה גדולה, והזמין אנשים רבים.
17 שלח את עבדו בשעת הסעודה לומר למוזמנים: 'בואו, כי הכל מוכן עכשיו'. 18 כולם כאיש אחד החלו להתנצל. "הראשון אמר לו: 'קניתי שדה, ועליי ללכת ולראות אותו. אנא סלחו לי.'
19 אחר אמר: 'קניתי חמישה צמד שוורים, ועליי ללכת לנסות אותם. אנא סלחו לי.'
20 אחר אמר: 'נשאתי אישה, ולכן איני יכול לבוא.'
21 העבד ההוא בא וסיפר לאדונו את הדברים האלה. אז בעל הבית כעס ואמר לעבדו: 'צא מהר לרחובות ולסמטאות העיר והבא לכאן את העניים, המומים, העיוורים והפיסחים.'
22 העבד אמר: 'אדוני, נעשה כפי שציווית, ויש עוד מקום.' 23 "ויאמר האדון אל העבד: 'צא אל הדרכים והגדרים ודחוף אותם לבוא פנימה, למען יתמלא ביתי.
24 כי אני אומר לכם שאף אחד מהאנשים שהוזמנו לא יטעם מסעודתי.'"
25 והלכו איתו המונים רבים. הוא פנה ואמר להם:
26 "מי שיבוא אליי ולא ישנא את אביו, אמו, אשתו, ילדיו, אחיו ואחיותיו, וגם את נפשו, לא יוכל להיות תלמידי.
27 מי שלא יישא את צלבו ויבוא אחריי, לא יוכל להיות תלמידי.
28 כי מי מכם, החפץ לבנות מגדל, לא ישב תחילה ויחשב את העלות, כדי לראות אם יש לו מספיק כדי להשלים אותו?
29 או שמא, כאשר הניח את היסוד ואינו יכול לסיים, כל הרואה יתחיל ללעוג לו,
30 ויאמר: 'האיש הזה התחיל לבנות, ולא היה יכול לסיים'. 31 או איזה מלך, בהולך להילחם מול מלך אחר במלחמה, לא ישב תחילה וישקול אם יוכל עם עשרת אלפים איש להילחם בזה הבא נגדו עם עשרים אלף?
32 או שאם לא כן, בעודו רחוק, ישלח שליח וישאל תנאי שלום.
33 לכן, מי מכם שלא יוותר על כל אשר לו, לא יוכל להיות תלמידי.

John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
