1 May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble.
May the name of the God of Ya`akov set you up on high,
2 Send you help from the sanctuary,
Grant you support from Tziyon,
3 Remember all your offerings,
And accept your burnt-sacrifice. Selah.
4 May He grant you your heart's desire,
And fulfill all your counsel.
5 We will triumph in your yeshu`ah.
In the name of our God we will set up our banners:
The LORD fulfill all your petitions.
6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed.
He will answer him from his holy heaven,
With the saving strength of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses,
But we trust the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are bowed down and fallen,
But we rise up, and stand upright.
9 Save, LORD;
Let the King answer us when we call!
PSALMS: 50
1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks,
And calls the eretz from sunrise to sunset.
2 Out of Tziyon, the perfection of beauty,
God shines forth.
3 Our God comes, and does not keep silent.
A fire devours before him.
It is very tempestuous around him.
4 He calls to the heavens above,
To the eretz, that he may judge his people:
5 "Gather my holy ones together to me,
Those who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice."
6 The heavens shall declare his righteousness,
For God himself is judge.
Selah.
7 "Hear, my people, and I will speak;
Yisra'el, and I will testify against you.
I am God, your God.
8 I don't rebuke you for your sacrifices.
Your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9 I have no need for a bull from your stall,
Nor male goats from your pens.
10 For every animal of the forest is mine,
And the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know all the birds of the mountains.
The wild animals of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
For the world is mine, and all that is in it.
13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls,
Or drink the blood of goats?
14 Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving.
Pay your vows to Ha`Elyon.
15 Call on me in the day of trouble.
I will deliver you, and you will honor me."
16 But to the wicked God says,
"What right do you have to declare my statutes,
That you have taken my covenant on your lips,
17 Seeing you hate instruction,
And throw my words behind you?
18 When you saw a thief, you consented with him,
And have participated with adulterers.
19 "You give your mouth to evil.
You harnesses your tongue for deceit.
20 You sit and speak against your brother.
You slander your own mother's son.
21 You have done these things, and I kept silent.
You thought that the "I AM" was just like you.
I will rebuke you, and accuse you in front of your eyes.
22 "Now consider this, you who forget God,
Lest I tear you into pieces, and there be none to deliver.
23 Whoever offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me,
And prepares his way so that I will show God's salvation to him."
PSALMS: 80
1 Hear us, Shepherd of Yisra'el,
You who lead Yosef like a flock,
You who sit above the Keruvim, shine forth.
2 Before Efrayim and Binyamin and Menashsheh,
stir up your might,
Come to save us.
3 Turn us again, God.
Cause your face to shine,
And we will be saved.
4 LORD God Tzva'ot,
How long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?
5 You have fed them with the bread of tears,
And given them tears to drink in large measure.
6 You make us a source of contention to our neighbors.
Our enemies laugh among themselves.
7 Turn us again,
God Tzva'ot.
Cause your face to shine,
And we will be saved.
8 You brought a vine out of Mitzrayim.
You drove out the nations, and planted it.
9 You cleared the ground for it.
It took deep root, and filled the land.
10 The mountains were covered with its shadow.
Its boughs were like God's cedars.
11 It sent out its branches to the sea,
Its shoots to the River.
12 Why have you broken down its walls,
So that all those who pass by the way pluck it?
13 The boar out of the wood ravages it.
The wild animals of the field feed on it.
14 Turn again, we beg you, God Tzva'ot.
Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine,
15 The stock which your right hand planted,
The branch that you made strong for yourself.
16 It is burned with fire. It is cut down.
They perish at your rebuke.
17 Let your hand be on the man of your right hand,
On the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.
18 So we will not turn away from you.
Revive us, and we will call on your name.
19 Turn us again, LORD God Tzva'ot.
Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
PSALMS: 110
1 The LORD says to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand,
Until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet."
2 The LORD will send forth the rod of your strength out of Tziyon.
Rule in the midst of your enemies.
3 Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power,
In holy array.
Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.
4 The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind:
"You are a Kohen forever in the order of Malki-Tzedek."
5 The Lord is at your right hand.
He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.
6 He will judge among the nations.
He will heap up dead bodies.
He will crush the ruler of the whole eretz.
7 He will drink of the brook in the way;
Therefore will he lift up his head.
PSALMS: 140
1 Deliver me, LORD, from the evil man.
Preserve me from the violent man;
2 Those who devise mischief in their hearts.
They continually gather themselves together for war.
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent.
Viper's poison is under their lips.
Selah.
4 LORD, keep me from the hands of the wicked.
Preserve me from the violent men:
Who have determined to trip my feet.
5 The proud have hidden a snare for me,
They have spread the cords of a net by the path.
They have set traps for me.
Selah.
6 I said to the LORD,
"You are my God.
" Listen to the cry of my petitions, LORD.
7 LORD, the Lord, the strength of my yeshu`ah,
You have covered my head in the day of battle.
8 LORD, don't grant the desires of the wicked.
Don't let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. Selah.
9 As for the head of those who surround me,
Let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 Let burning coals fall on them.
Let them be thrown into the fire,
Into miry pits, from where they never rise.
11 An evil speaker won't be established in the eretz.
Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted,
And justice for the needy.
13 Surely the righteous will give thanks to your name.
The upright will dwell in your presence.
PROVERBS: 20
1 Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler;
Whoever is let astray by them is not wise.
2 The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion:
He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
3 It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife;
But every fool will be quarreling.
4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter;
Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water;
But a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love,
But who can find a faithful man?
7 A righteous man who walks in his integrity,
Blessed are his children after him.
8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment
Scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9 Who can say, "I have made my heart pure.
I am clean and without sin?"
10 Differing weights and differing measures,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
11 Even a child makes himself known by his doings,
Whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye,
The LORD has made even both of them.
13 Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty;
Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14 "It's no good, it's no good," says the buyer;
But when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15 There is gold and abundance of rubies;
But the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
16 Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger;
And hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
17 Fraudulent food is sweet to a man,
But afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18 Plans are established by advice;
By wise guidance you wage war!
19 He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets;
Therefore don't keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
20 Whoever curses his father or his mother,
His lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21 An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning,
Won't be blessed in the end.
22 Don't say,
"I will pay back evil."
Wait for the LORD, and he will save you.
23 The LORD detests differing weights,
And dishonest scales are not pleasing.
24 A man's steps are from the LORD;
How then can man understand his way?
25 It is a snare to a man make a rash dedication,
And later reconsider his vows.
26 A wise king winnows out the wicked,
And drives the threshing wheel over them.
27 The spirit of man is the LORD's lamp,
Searching all his innermost parts.
28 Love and faithfulness keep the king safe.
His throne is sustained by love.
29 The glory of young men is their strength.
The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30 Wounding blows cleanse away evil,
And beatings purge the innermost parts.
OLD TESTAMENT: 1 CHRONICLES 9:1 - 10:14
9:1 So all Yisra'el were reckoned by genealogies; and, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yisra'el: and Yehudah was carried away captive to Bavel for their disobedience. 2 Now the first inhabitants who lived in their possessions in their cities were Yisra'el, the Kohanim, the Levites, and the temple servants. 3 In Yerushalayim lived of the children of Yehudah, and of the children of Binyamin, and of the children of Efrayim and Menashsheh: 4`Utai the son of `Ammihud, the son of `Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the children of Peretz the son of Yehudah. 5 Of the Shiloni: `Asayah the firstborn, and his sons. 6 Of the sons of Zerach: Ye`u'el, and their brothers, six hundred ninety. 7 Of the sons of Binyamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodavyah, the son of Senu'ah, 8 and Yivneyah the son of Yerocham, and Elah the son of `Uzzi, the son of Mikhri, and Meshullam the son of Shefatyah, the son of Re`u'el, the son of Yivniyah; 9 and their brothers, according to their generations, nine hundred fifty-six. All these men were heads of fathers' [houses] by their fathers' houses. 10 Of the Kohanim: Yedayah, and Yehoiariv, Yakhin, 11 and `Azaryah the son of Hilkiyah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Tzadok, the son of Merayot, the son of Achituv, the ruler of the house of God; 12 and `Adayah the son of Yerocham, the son of Pashchur, the son of Malkiyah, and Ma`asai the son of `Adi'el, the son of Yachzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemit, the son of Immer; 13 and their brothers, heads of their fathers' houses, one thousand seven hundred sixty; very able men for the work of the service of the house of God. 14 Of the Levites: Shemayah the son of Hashshuv, the son of `Azrikam, the son of Hashavyah, of the sons of Merari; 15 and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattanyah the son of Mikha, the son of Zikhri, the son of Asaf, 16 and `Ovadyah the son of Shemayah, the son of Galal, the son of Yedutun, and Berekhyah the son of Asa, the son of Elkana, who lived in the villages of the Netofati. 17 The porters: Shallum, and `Akkuv, and Talmon, and Achiman, and their brothers (Shallum was the chief), 18 who hitherto [waited] in the king's gate eastward: they were the porters for the camp of the children of Levi. 19 Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Avi'asaf, the son of Korach, and his brothers, of his father's house, the Korchi, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent: and their fathers had been over the camp of the LORD, keepers of the entry. 20Pinechas the son of El`azar was ruler over them in time past, [and] the LORD was with him. 21 Zekharyah the son of Meshelemyah was porter of the door of the tent of meeting. 22 All these who were chosen to be porters in the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Shemu'el the seer did ordain in their office of trust. 23 So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of the LORD, even the house of the tent, by wards. 24 On the four sides were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south. 25 Their brothers, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them: 26 for the four chief porters, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the chambers and over the treasuries in the house of God. 27 They lodged round about the house of God, because the charge [of it] was on them; and to them pertained the opening of it morning by morning. 28 Certain of them had charge of the vessels of service; for by count were these brought in and by count were these taken out. 29 Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices. 30 Some of the sons of the Kohanim prepared the confection of the spices. 31 Mattityah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korchite, had the office of trust over the things that were baked in pans. 32 Some of their brothers, of the sons of the Kehati, were over the show bread, to prepare it every Shabbat. 33 These are the singers, heads of fathers' [houses] of the Levites, [who lived] in the chambers [and were] free [from other service]; for they were employed in their work day and night. 34 These were heads of fathers' [houses] of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men: these lived at Yerushalayim. 35 In Giv`on there lived the father of Giv`on, Ye`i'el, whose wife's name was Ma`akhah: 36 and his firstborn son `Avdon, and Tzur, and Kish, and Ba`al, and Ner, and Nadav, 37 and Gedor, and Achyo, and Zekharyah, and Miklot. 38 Miklot became the father of Shim'am. They also lived with their brothers in Yerushalayim, over against their brothers. 39 Ner became the father of Kish; and Kish became the father of Sha'ul; and Sha'ul became the father of Yonatan, and Malki-Shua, and Avinadav, and Eshba`al. 40 The son of Yonatan was Meriv-Ba`al; and Meriv-Ba`al became the father of Mikhah. 41 The sons of Mikhah: Piton, and Melekh, and Tachre`a, [and Achaz]. 42 Achaz became the father of Ya`rah; and Ya`rah became the father of `Alemet, and `Azmavet, and Zimri; and Zimri became the father of Motzah; 43 and Motzah became the father of Bin`a; and Refayah his son, El`asah his son, Atzel his son. 44 Atzel had six sons, whose names are these: `Azrikam, Bokhru, and Yishma'el, and She`aryah, and `Ovadyah, and Hanan: these were the sons of Atzel.
10:1 Now the Pelishtim fought against Yisra'el: and the men of Yisra'el fled from before the Pelishtim, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa. 2 The Pelishtim followed hard after Sha'ul and after his sons; and the Pelishtim killed Yonatan, and Avinadav, and Malki-Shua, the sons of Sha'ul. 3 The battle went sore against Sha'ul, and the archers overtook him; and he was distressed by reason of the archers. 4 Then said Sha'ul to his armor-bearer, Draw your sword, and thrust me through therewith, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armor-bearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Sha'ul took his sword, and fell on it. 5 When his armor-bearer saw that Sha'ul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died. 6 So Sha'ul died, and his three sons; and all his house died together. 7 When all the men of Yisra'el who were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Sha'ul and his sons were dead, they forsook their cities, and fled; and the Pelishtim came and lived in them. 8 It happened on the next day, when the Pelishtim came to strip the slain, that they found Sha'ul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa. 9 They stripped him, and took his head, and his armor, and sent into the land of the Pelishtim round about, to carry the news to their idols, and to the people. 10 They put his armor in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon. 11 When all Yavesh-Gil`ad heard all that the Pelishtim had done to Sha'ul, 12 all the valiant men arose, and took away the body of Sha'ul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Yavesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Yavesh, and fasted seven days. 13 So Sha'ul died for his trespass which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD, which he didn't keep; and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire [thereby], 14 and didn't inquire of the LORD: therefore he killed him, and turned the kingdom to David the son of Yishai.
NEW TESTAMENT: ACTS 22:21 - 44
21 "He said to me, 'Depart, for I will send you out far from here to the Goyim.'"
22 They listened to him until he said that, then they lifted up their voice, and said, "Rid the eretz of this fellow, for he isn't fit to live!"
23 As they cried out, and threw off their cloaks, and threw dust into the air,
24 the commanding officer commanded him to be brought into the barracks, ordering him to be examined by scourging, that he might know for what crime they shouted against him like that.
25 When they had tied him up with thongs, Sha'ul asked the centurion who stood by, "Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?"
26 When the centurion heard it, he went to the commanding officer and told him, "Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman!"
27 The commanding officer came and asked him, "Tell me, are you a Roman?" He said, "Yes."
28 The commanding officer answered, "I bought my citizenship for a great price." Sha'ul said, "But I was born a Roman."
29 Immediately those who were about to examine him departed from him, and the commanding officer also was afraid when he realized that he was a Roman, because he had bound him.
30 But on the next day, desiring to know the truth about why he was accused by the Yehudim, he freed him from the bonds, and commanded the chief Kohanim and all the council to come together, and brought Sha'ul down and set him before them.

יְהִיאֶךָ שֵׁם אֱלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב מְרוֹמָה.
2 ישלח לך עזרה מִמִּקְדָּשָׁה,
יתן לך משענת מציון.
3 זכור את כל קרבנותיך,
וְקַבֵּל עוֹלֶתְךָ. סלה.
4 יְתַן לָךְ מַחֲוַת לִבְךָ,
וְיַעֲצֶת כָּל עֲצֶתְךָ.
5 נִרְצֹא בִּישׁוּעַךָ.
בשם אֱלֹהֵינוּ נִקִּים דַּגְלֵינוּ.
יְהִיא יְמַעֲשׂוּ כָּל חֲקָלוֹתֶיךָ. ו עתה ידעתי כי ה' יושיע משיחו.
יענהו משמי קדשו,
בכוח ישועת ימינו.
7 יש בוטחים ברכבות, ויש בסוסים,
ואנו בוטחים בשם ה' אלוהינו.

ואנו קמים ועמדים.
9 הושיע, ה';
יענה לנו המלך בקריאה!

1 הגיבור, ה', ידבר,
וקרא לארץ מזריחה עד שקיעה.
2 מציון, שלימות יופי,
יארח אלוהים.
3 יבוא אלוהינו ולא יחריש.
אש אוכלת לפניו,
סערה מאוד סביבו.
4 הוא קורא לשמיים ממעל,
אל הארץ, לשפוט את עמו: 5 "אספו לי את קדשי,
את אשר כרתו לי ברית בזבח."
6 השמים יגידו צדקתו,
כי אלוהים הוא שופט.

7 "שמע עמי ואדבר, ישראל ואעיד בך. אני אלוהים אלהיך.
8 לא אוכיף לך על זבחיך.
עולותיך תמיד לפניי.
9 לא אצטרך פר מדרכיך,

ובקמה על אלף גבעות.
11 אני יודע את כל ציפורי ההרים.
לי חיות השדה.
12 אם רעב הייתי לא אומר לך,
כי לי תבל וכל אשר בו.

או דם שעיזים אשתה?
14 זבח תודה לאלהים.
שלם נדריך לאליון.
15 קרא לי ביום צרה.

"מה זכותך לספר את חוקי,
כי לקחת את בריתי על שפתיך,
17 כששנאת מוסר,
ותשליך את דבריי אחריך?
18 כי ראית גנב, הסכמת לו,
ועם-נאפים השתתפת.
19 "נתת את פיך לרעה.
רתמת את לשונך למרמה.
20 את אחיך יושבת ודברת.
את בן אמך תעלל.
21 את הדברים האלה עשית, ואני שתקתי.
חשבת כי "אני" הוא בדיוק כמוך.
אני אגער בך, ואאשים אותך מול עיניך. 22 "עַתָּה שִׁמְעוּ זֹאת, שֶׁכְחִים אֱלֹהִים,
פן אקרע אתכם לגזרים ואין מציל.
23 מַקְרִיב זַחַב תּוֹדָה יַהֲבַל אֹתִי,
וְיַכְנֶה דֶּרֶךְ לְמַעַן אֶרְאֶה לוֹ יְשׁוּעַת אֱלֹהִים."

1 שמע אותנו רועה ישראל,
מנהיג יוסף כצאן,
יושב כרובים, האיר.
2 לפני אפרים ובנימין ומנשה,
העיר את כוחך,
בוא להושיע אותנו.
3 השב אותנו, אלוהים.
האיר פניך,
ונישענו.
4 ה' אלוהי צבאות,
עד מתי תכעס בתפילת עמך?
5 האכלתם לחם דמעה,
ושקתם דמעה בשפע.
6 עשית אותנו לריב לשכנינו.
אויבינו יצחקו ביניהם.

ונישענו. ח הבאת גפן ממצרים. גרשת גויים ונטעתה.
9 פיניתה אדמה. השתרשה עמוק ותמלאה ארץ.
10 הרים מכוסים בצילו. ענפיו היו כארזים של אלוהים.
11 הוציאה ענפיה לים,
נצריה לים.
12 למה שברת חומותיה,
וכל עוברי הדרך יקטפו?
13 חזיר מן היער יטרף אותה.
חיות השדה רעות אותה.
14 שוב אנו, אלוהי צוואות. הבט מן השמים וראה ופקד את הגפן הזאת,
15 את הגזע אשר נטעה ימינך,
את הענף אשר חזקת לך.
16 באש נשרפה, נכרתה. יבקעו מגעפתך.
17 ידך על איש ימינך,
על בן האדם אשר עזמת לך.
18 וללא נסור ממך.
החיינו ונקרא בשמך.
19 השבנו, יהוה אלוהי צבעות.

פרשו חבלי רשת על פני הדרך.
הניחו לי מלכודות.

"אתה אלוהי.
" שמע לצעקת תחנוני, ה'.
7 ה', מעוז ישועתי,
כסית את ראשי ביום מלחמה.
8 ה', אל תעשה משאלות רשעים.
אל תצליח מחשבותיהם הרעות, פן יתגאו. סלה.
9 וראש סבבי,
תכסה רעת שפתיהם.
10 גחלים בוערות יפלו עליהם.
ישליכו באש,
אל בורות בוציים, משם לא יקומו. יא לא יקום דובר רע בארץ. איש אלים יצוד רע להפילו. 12 ידעתי כי יעמוד יהוה על משפט עניים,
ומשפט לנזקקים. 13 אם כן יודו צדיקים לשמך. ישרים ישכנו לפניך.

1 יין ליצף, ובירה ריב; מי שיתעה על ידם לא חכם.
2 פחד מלך כשאגת אריה:
מעוררו כעסו יאבד את נפשו.
3 כבוד לאדם להתרחק מריב; וכל כסיל יריב.
4 לא יחרוש עצלן מפני החורף; לכן יבקש בקציר ולא יהיה לו.
5 עצה בלב אדם כמים עמוקים; ואיש בינה ישאב אותה.
6 אנשים רבים טוענים שהם אנשי אהבה בלתי פוסקים,
אך מי ימצא איש נאמן?
7 צדיק ההולך בתמימותו,
אשרי בניו אחריו.
ח מלך יושב על כסא המשפט
מפזר כל רע בעיניו.
ט מי יאמר "טהרתי את ליבי, טהור ואין חטא?"
י משקלים שונים ומידה שונים,
שתיהן כאחד תועבת ה'.
יא אפילו ילד יגלה במעשיו,
האם טהור מעשיו והאם ישר.
ב אוזן שומעת ועין רואה,
ה' עשה את שתיהן.
ג אל תאהב שינה, פן תבוא לרעות;
פקח את עיניך ושבעת לחם.
י"ד "לא טוב, לא טוב", אומר הקונה;
וכי הלך לדרכו, יתפאר.
ט"ו זהב ושפע אבני אודם;
ושפתי דעת הן תכשיט נדיר. טז קח בגד של אדם הנותן ערבון לזר,
וערבון לאישה תועה.
ז מתוק לאיש מאכל שקר,
ואח"כ ימלא פיו חצץ.
יח בעצה יקימו תוכניות;
בהדרכה תעשה מלחמה!
ט הולך כמדוין יגלה סודות;
לכן אל תתחבר עם מי שפותח שפתיו לרווחה.
כב מקלל אביו או אמו,
נרו יכבה בחשכת חושך.
כב נחלה שנרכשה מהר בתחילה,
לא תבורך אחרית.
כב אל תאמר,
"אגמול רעה".
חכה לה' ויושיעך.
כג 23 שונא ה' משקלים שונים,
ומשקלים לא ישרים לא רצו.
24 מאת ה' צעדי איש;
ואיך יבין אדם דרכו?
25 מלכודת היא לאדם, יעשה הקדשה פזיזה,
ואח"כ ישוב על נדריו.
26 מלך חכם יזרה רשעים,
והניע עליהם גלגל.
27 נר ה' רוח האדם,
חוקרת את כל קרביו.
28 אהבה ואמונה ישמרו על המלך.
באהבה יתמוך כסאו.
29 תפארת נערים היא כוחם.
תפארת זקנים היא שערותיהם האפורות.
30 מכות פצעות יטהר רע,
ומכות יטהרו קרביו.

י:א והפלשתים נלחמו בישראל, ואנשי ישראל נוסים מפני הפלשתים, ונפלו חללים בהר הגלבוע. ב הפלשתים רדפו אחרי שאול ואחרי בניו, והפלשתים הורגים את יונתן ואת אבינדב ואת מלכישוע בני שאול. ג ותכבד המלחמה על שאול, והקשתים השיגו אותו, והוא צר מפני הקשתים. ד ויאמר שאול אל נושא כליו, שלף את חרבך ודקר אותי בה, פן יבואו הערלים האלה ויתעללו בי. ולא אבה נושא כליו, כי ירא מאוד. וייקח שאול את חרבו ויפל עליה. 5 וירא נושא כליו כי מת שאול, ויפל גם הוא על חרבו וימת. 6 וימת שאול ושלושת בניו וכל ביתו מת יחד. 7 ויראו כל אנשי ישראל אשר בעמק כי ברח וכי מתו שאול ובניו, ויעזבו את עריהם ויברחו, והפלשתים באו וישבו בהן. 8 ויהי למחרת, כאשר באו הפלשתים לבזוז את החללים, וימצאו את שאול ואת בניו נפלים בהר הגלבוע. 9 ויפשטו אותו, וייקחו את ראשו ואת כליו, וישלחו אל ארץ הפלשתים מסביב, לבשר את הבשורה לאליליהם ולעם. 10 ויתנו את כליו בבית אלוהיהם, ואת ראשו תקע בבית דגון. יא וַיַּשְׁמֹע כָּל יָבֵשׁ גִּלְעָד אֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂו הַפְּלִשְׁתִּים לַשָּׁאוּל וַיָּקוּ כָּל־הַגִּבְרִים וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת־גְּרוּפַת־שָׁאוּל וְאֶת־גְּרוּפַת־בָנָיו וַיָּבִיאוּ אֵל־יָבֵשׁ וַיַּקְבְּרוּ אֶת־עַצְמָתָם אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂה בְּיְהוָה בְּגַן־דַּבְרַת יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא־קָיַם וְגַם־עַל־יְהוָה לִדְרֹשׁ וְלֹא־דְרֹשׁ אֶת־יְהוָה וַיָּרַג אֹתוֹ וַיָּבִיא אֶת־הַמְּלָכָה לְדָוִד בֶּן־יֵשִׁי׃
הברית החדשה: מעשי השליחים כב:21-44
21 "אמר לי: 'לך, כי אשלחך הרחק מכאן אל הגויים'."
22 הם הקשיבו לו עד שאמר זאת, ואז הרימו את קולם ואמרו: "הוציאו את זה מהארץ, כי אינו ראוי לחיות!"
23 כשהם צועקים, משליכים את גלימותיהם ומפלסים אבק באוויר,
24 ציווה המפקד להביאו אל הצריפים, וציווה לחקור אותו במלקות, כדי שידע על איזה פשע צעקו עליו כך.
25 לאחר שקשרו אותו ברצועות, שאל שאול את שר המאה שעמד שם: "האם מותר לכם להלקות אדם שהוא רומאי ולא נמצא אשם?" 26 כאשר שמע זאת שר המאה, ניגש אל המפקד ואמר לו: "היזהר מה אתה עומד לעשות, כי האיש הזה רומי!"
27 ניגש אליו המפקד ושאל אותו: "אמור לי, האם אתה רומי?" הוא אמר: "כן."
28 ענה המפקד: "קניתי את אזרחותי במחיר גדול." אמר שאול: "אבל נולדתי רומי."
29 מיד עזבו ממנו אלה שעמדו לחקור אותו, וגם המפקד פחד כשנודע לו שהוא רומי, כי אסר אותו.
30 אך למחרת, רצה לדעת את האמת על הסיבה להאשמתו היהודים, שחרר אותו מהכבלים, ציווה על ראשי הכוהנים ועל כל הסנהדרין להתאסף, הביא את שאול למטה והעמיד אותו לפניהם.
John 3:16-21 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, F that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. G 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
